bard feels underwhelming idk what I'm doing wrong but I cannot do even pve with bard as well as the other classes I've tried so far. The damage songs all seem...frankly not worth taking, and the buffs/utilities are nice but...I think it's too much to think about for me right now? Like, I'm still getting used to the mechanics so keeping in mind all my song options and playing a little minigame mid-combat is a problem. Idk, maybe my melee skill is the issue.

Din is really only kinda useful if you wanna hit an invis Rogue out of invis. Piercing Shrill can be kinda funny to hit people with since it doesn't care about shield blocks or any obstacles between you and it

Shriek of weakness is necessary. The songs you take are usually almost all buffs that you have to keep up at all times. Your advantage comes from having these buffs up and sheiek of weakness.

Oh, also run Charismatic Performance. Its literally mandatory, and lets you skip one note in a song every three notes as long as you perfect the rest. Its how you can cast Shriek twice as fast by skipping the first note

This is such a fucking RAD game btw, I know the devs are off their rocker and it has plenty of balance issues but the core mechanics are so cool, the more I learn the more amazed I am by it.

Other Bard notes:

• All the self-buffs are good except Harmonic IMO, it takes too long and doesn't do much.
• You actually have more Knowledge than you think. If you run Story Teller you get +3, Rousing Rhythms gives you +2, and holding a Lute gives you another point (two if the Lute is Common-grade) so you actually have 6 higher memory capacity than the game says, as long as you're running Story Teller and your last equipped song is a Lute song.
• Rapier Mastery also makes your Lantern Shield deal more damage.
• Unchained Harmony opens everything and is kinda busted as hell.
• Superior Dexterity is another insane perk, and lets you swap to weapons or utility items almost instantly

Even though they just destroyed it in one patch cycle, I think having the actual white gear/squire lobbies was a good thing. 1 - it gave people the chance to always try out new basic kits and classes and get some fair PvP, loot around in the dungeon and maybe have that little dopamine rush mid-game finding a nice piece. Now, new players are forced to either go into PvE and hit.. frankly, some outdated AI, or go into the normals queue where people are min-maxing blue kits with +true damage and max movespeed still

I messed around in some of the new trios only normal lobbies yesterday and I think every game I queued into, my teammates were both completely naked grey gear, and almost every team we ran into was 7-8k gold blue kits with +all attributes, movespeed and true phys/magic on every piece.

and I'm sitting on multiple current season demigods and 100k+> and build those same kits but it's terrible for game health for anyone not knowing how to do anything similar.

Eh honestly I think it's OKAY to make these drastic changes to test it out but there should be a different way to do this. Be clear and communicate that they're going to test it out, monitor and communicate for the first week or two of putting them on live servers, if 90% of the community hates it, communicate and revert or try a different approach

At least SDF said just yesterday that they are going to use the test servers proactively now, but also this wipe has been.. a bit of a slogfest. 0 new content, adventure mode was literally just the old waiting room code (no PvP damage) thrown into the regular lobby with 0 changes, restricted boss summons (which is now reverted, thank you) and some odd lobby changes with the RIGHT OVERALL idea to shrink the queues down.

I say right overall idea but the way they chose to shrink the queues/modes is an interesting decision to say the least..

Steps I've taken: did chkdsc to repair hardrive in case smth broke. Uninstalled/reinstalled both the epic games launcher and Dark and darker twice, disabled onedrive syncing. One thing that might be fucking things up for me is the fact that I downloaded the f2p version on steam. Ran it last night with no problems. My steam account uses the same email address as my epic games launcher so I think it could be that but I uninstalled the steam version before I even tried to redownload DaD on epic games launcher (my account on epic games launcher has legendary status).

I enjoy this patch because lobbies aren't dead, and I think removing solos and duos is ultimately the right call for the game, given that they balance for trios. I don't mind < 25 norms existing, I wouldn't want to take it away from people, but I do enjoy the new "norms with blues", since if you put gear on, many fights you feel like you can stat-check other teams. It's the OG feeling of gear checking teams, which is cool, since gear and money isn't hard to find anymore. IMO, hot take, remove solso and duos from HR too. Make the game trios only. People will adapt

The servers are actually server clusters, for example the frankfurt one has some in spain for spanish players, sometimes youll see spaniards spill in, but it tries to put you in the closest server to the chosen timezone. This is what i noticed anyway. And youd know because youd have ping

I just don't think someone will take the time to do it for a heart unless you are giving them a better deal on the heart than the market (which means the value you get is their insight on the kit)

Before this update, I'd screw around with PVE mode sometimes. It was fun. Just trolling around, being a derp. That'd get old fast though. Especially since most people are oddly.. Dark and Darker is one of those "other games." This stands out in many ways but it's still part of the genre at its core. You can't judge it apart from its peers. Buying gear is a standard part of the extraction genre, and while it's interesting that this game had free gear only lobbies at one point, it's not a crazy downside that is totally unreasonable.

I'm a White lobby enjoyer, but I'd be satisfied with gear capped at Uncommon/Green. There's not a lot you can do with green gear, for it to get into "gear diff" territory. Bis blues though, are a game changer.
