While I agree the pvp is fun. This game is hard enough and forcing people that are learning the game (we were all there at one point) are just going to be miserable. They're already struggling surviving the mobs I'm sure you and I clear rooms of. On top of that zone and effectively "forced" pvp. Forget about it. New players are something all games need and I'm not saying balance around noobs, but it's important to recognize.

It was bad 2 years ago, it's going to be worse now that people have seen how much better the game is without it. It IS GOOD in arenas where it actually serves as an anti-stalemate mechanic, but that sure isnt how it works in dungeons.

Also not saying polling your comunnity isnt a good idea for some things, but at the same time, Ironmace has demonstrated that they have no vision for this game. If at this point their best idea for new content is re-implementing a 2year old mechanic that was removed by popular demand then then polling people again, it just screams "we have no idea what to do at this point"

Yeah it was very bad the first years but it was also more fun than it is now. You get a surge of urgency and battling for your last minutes on the map is fun. Now theres mostly not enough action and it gets easily boring and repetitive.

The new player experience is miserable and the sad reality is it's unfixable. So long as a game has a relatively low population and is competitive new players will bounce off of it most of the time. That's how it is for Fighting Games and other niche competitive games. Even the noob queue they recently added is a fucking mess of smurfs.

Making PvP essentially optional and making escapes easy does mean that new players are more likely to be successful but their experience is also boring. The game just isn't particularly fun when all you did was open a few boxes and kill a couple goblins. Giving people easy free wins doesn't make them stick to the game it makes them bored. It's better to throw people into the actual fun part of the game and just accept that due to lower player pop they're going to probably get stomped and quit. What else can you do?

I think that in Inferno there could be a final set of portals (black portals?) that take your party + whatever party used them directly to an arena map, and anyone who took the final set can go "all-in" and risk it all in an arena. Something like that. Not just a perputally shrinking circle that just makes playing the game annoying up until you find other players

I agree again on the looting boredom aspect. Although, killing those same goblins at least when I started didn't happen and it was them killing me... a lot. Same with most enemies I'm not scared of anymore (looking at you hellhounds). New players struggle and persevere until the pve is easier, then they run for pvp, like me. It's perfectly fine for them to have a second to chill. I have new friends who love to run into pvp and have their ass whooped and others that want to secure some loot sometimes. But that's just it. They deserve that choice as a player, especially a new one.

its boring to us PVP'ers but you are all underestimating how many new gen gamers want a PVE experience...Look at the discussion forums of any game, there is always lots of people begging for PVE only modes, everything from tarkov, to hunt showdown and DND, hell even that SAND game, the forums are spammed with begging for PVE.

I would say not every game can cater to every player nor should it. I think some people might believe they'd love a PvE mode but in truth I suspect they'd get bored and quit. The PvE is not strong enough on its own to be successful in my view.

However, while that is my view, I think Ironmace want to try and appeal to both by making normals more appealing to PvE-focussed players and HR more appealing to PvP-focussed players.

I guess what I'm hoping for is if they turly believe that cirles are a solution to players being too passive in the dungeon, I really hope they have changed how they implement them. Now that there is a map, they need to show WHERE the circle is going to be closing. I have no problem with being forced into closer proximity with other players, but its such a un-fun mechanic with RNG dictates if your party gets to loot that round, or if you guys get to be the ones that have to run thru every module skipping every chest and mob just so you dont get stuck outside the circle. Thats how it used to be, and if they dont change some things then thats just how it's going to be again.

Fighting Games are a fantastic analogue to this problem actually. They try to match people based on skill as well. So new players play with new players. Same thing Ironmace tried with the noob queue. But the same problem happened for both. People just smurf on new accounts.

The only real solution is to have so many players that you have a skill range allowing for everyone to have an opponent they can beat. That's why Battle Royales and shooters are managing just fine with new players. That's what happens when you have millions of daily players instead of at best 20k

PVE worked for tarkov because no matter how bad the game is hundreds of thousands of people will still play it. but for DND an entire pve MODE would split the player base and it would feel REEEALY dead. my point though is that all these new mechanics that make the game "hardcore" or "harder" in general are simply NOT in the best intrest for the game considering how many people want to PVE.

IF it was upto me, they should at least add an offline raid mode where you dont gain or lose any loot / gear, at least some of the people struggling get to test stuff or learn bosses

Precisely, there are things that could be adjusted (many unhelpful skill/spell descriptions that don't tell duration...too many). But, overall it's not unfixable or anything as doomer as that. It's a difficult game and people want to keep it that way. That shouldn't come at the cost of player count though. Obviously the game is in a rough state for other reasons right now, but I think there just needs to be dev transparency and better balance in some aspects.

You're right-ish but it doesn't matter. Sure DaD isn't a Mordhau or Street Fighter 6 or something. You can break into it with a relatively short period of repeatedly getting stomped. But the vast majority of players aren't willing to lose for 50-100 hours before getting good enough to hold their own. They just aren't.

I started again a few weeks ago in 0-24 bracket, honestly a lot of players there of my level. Now I go one bracket up, up to 124, and the players i meet seem better, so honestly for me it felt pretty friendly towards new players

Yeah this is the new player queue semi-working. When you're in 0-24 you're probably seeing a lot of other new players then in 25-124 you're seeing more smurfs.

I played with a couple of my friends who just started and it put me with them into the new player queue so I have seen what it's like. I saw in 0-24 maybe 70-80% of players being new compared to 25-124 where almost everyone was a smurf.

If 2 melee rush at you, you basically move as if you do bosses. Circle it so that only 1 person attack at a time. And use your spells for bait dont perform it if not safe. If you do it correctly you ruin their cordination. If one guy is spellcaster you just need to prioritize avoiding spells then commit to the chaser.

There are plenty example in games where a key part of the game did not come from the devs designing it but the community creating the style themselves and I find those situations to be natural and fun to the game, Kiting is important now to get heals off, spell resets, dungeon resets, gear securing, and those are all natural outcomes of the community just playing the game, so when this happening, the devs help it by making potions give less heal, spells more cool down, ect ect, I think its kinda cool how these things happen naturally in a game. In this game it works because the lobby sizes are low and its a extraction shoot not btr.

Everyone complaining about Druid has never actually picked up the class and tried to main it. You have to rework your entire movement as panther because his body is long. Also timing jumping with meleeing. Also, I go rat or dreamwalk, then fireball me? There’s a counter to every part of the Druid but people are just mad they aren’t good enough to react quick enough. A good sign for if a weapon needs buffing imo is if absolutely nobody uses a certain weapon, ever, even if it's a somewhat "niche" but decent weapon.
Only reason druid uses it is due to it being the only thing a druid has that can block with decent melee range. More of a must and less of a active choice.

a panther only gets that 1 dive during that fight. bait out that dive and move in after hes used it. if he has dreamwalk, bait that out and push when he no longer has it. theres so many things you can do. go to high spot like on some boxes or something , super hard for panther to get up there

The average is hybrid is 10-15k is a good kit but a 5k barb will destroy it
