The way I see it, there will be noob stomping no matter what. You can’t separate the vets from noobs entirely. What IM can do however is make the entry bracket far less profitable.

Right now there is an incentive to noob stomp bc you can solo boss, you can mine ore, get quests done, etc. Remove the incentives for vets to play naked and the new players are gonna have a far easier time getting the hang of things instead of being utterly destroyed

You have to actually aim the shield in Dark and Darker. If the projectile or weapon hits part of your body even while blocking you dont actually guard the attack. Fighter's have the Barricade perk that gives them reasonably high defense so if you would like to take less damage even if you miss the guard then i suggest playing with that perk

Wizard is your direct counter. You should avoid fighting them as best you can. IF you do fight them. Keep our of their spell range, and use a bow, and throwing axes

Try turning to their attacks? Shields work pretty well in Dark and Darker. If you correctly block the attack the spell reflection should mess them up pretty good

Wizards are a fighter's direct counter. Your not really supposed to win with just swinging your sword like its a rogue. To beat a Wizard you have to play around corners and sprint at them the moment they try to push you, If they immediately back up and try casting you can jump fireball and block midair for other spells. If you block correctly than you WILL block it. If you don't then you have failed the block. Another way is to play their game and use your crossbow (or bow if your playing with weapon mastery) and just wittle them down. Its rare to see a Wizard over 90 HP so only 3-4 ranged shots will kill them. I apologies for this ridiculous paragraph but hopefully you have learnt something 😀

So even though I spent gold/time/effort to learn and play and place other classes on the leaderboard I'm not going to get the rewards I earned for them? I started playing last season and for this season I decided I wanted to get as many characters into wanderer as I can so that for the next season I can start it with gold bags and not have as many inventory space issues or have to pay like 7-12k gold to get something that only holds 1k >_>

Additionally, if leaderboard rewards are going to be account level then quests should also be account level. If quests arent gonna be account level then they should work on making them class specific so we dont have to repeat the same stuff over and over again on different characters.

I feel like if rewards only go to whichever character earned the highest rank people are incentivized to not explore other classes more, or to not play other classes in ranked modes at least. Are people supposed to rush getting to demi on a character before they start playing other classes?

I would argue the thing people have the hardest time with is culling loot. The ability to recognize something worth picking up and doing it quickly makes a world of difference. The ability to see that epic you just picked up is worse than the blue you have on because the rolls are doodoo....etc.

Poisoned Weapon + True Magic Damage Build Only Does 4 Damage on Training Dummies?! Help!"

Hey everyone,

I decided to try a full true magic damage build with my rogue in Dark and Darker. The idea was to use Poisoned Weapon and stack as much true magic damage as possible. However, when I tested it on the training dummies, I was only dealing 4 damage, and none of my true magic damage seemed to be applying.

Has anyone else tested this setup or had a similar issue?

Does true magic damage not work with Poisoned Weapon?
Could it be that training dummies don’t register true magic damage properly?
Am I missing something critical in how the build mechanics work?

For poison weapon, true damage don't apply on each tick. Imagine the damage of poison weapon as big number split into 5 well your true damage are added to the big number not to each split

So with 7 true damage will only add around 1.x by tick. even less because poison weapon only scale at 50% of you magic damage/true magic damage. So you need 2 true to actually deal 1 true damage

One question guys. How to fight a mage as a melee char? Tried to fight two of them today and it looked liked this - they throw spell when they approch, they throw spells when I approach. You can try to build some magic resis and HP. I feel like bow are better against wizard too, if you hit them 2-3 time they should be really low and either try to heal or you kill them. Also you can try to duck (crouch and look down) to try dodging spell like zap, ice bolt etc. Try to play with door, wall, pillar etc to close the gap between you and them. But there is no magic solution, wizard/warlock are supposed to be melee class counter

How? Warlock isn’t a problem with longsword. Unless you’re talking about parry then -2 dmg will do nothing to that dmg. But a fighter will just use rapier as we currently see rn. Fighters are using rapier better than other classes especially demon glee and crystal ball

You play poorly then. Most barbs live at 320 ms either with armor and shouts or little to no armor. If people are outplaying you thats one thing but generally a barb can chase down any single target. Phantomize is its own op stupidity but genuinely barb beats just about everything right now if both players are same skill same gear except probably a skilled figher LS. It has the health pool to make mistakes and no one else does. The game will never be balanced but at one point it was fair, everyone had a chance and situations dictated difficulty not possibility to win. I just want those times back and the easiest way back to it is bigger health pools.

Im not perfect man, Im just pointing out that barb is the best solo class atm. And sure shouts dont last year round but with any kind of resourcefulness\will they kinda do. They last about 8 sec with lungs and only are on cooldown for about 25-30 sec. With a very basic buff duration and resourcefulness build you live buffed. The longer cooldown just means you get more utility out of cool down reduction.

arena is rough to speak on unless you are always full team. Solo queues mean you cant be aggressive effectively, but if you are full teamed up just be aggressive. You are just a target in a ranged fight, so you cant play with ranged classes. counter intuitive I know but your best comps are always gonna be up close combat built teamates.

Thats how most of us who have been around since the playtests feel. Classes have very little in the way of options, most classes have like two ways to play and its boring and restrictive after a while. Thats why the heath nerf hurt everyone but barbs so much. rolls used to be the only real way to show any kind of difference in game play, but now everone if forced to take health rolls. Made the game feel way more restrictive. pre #69 one or two health rolls felt good, now if every piece has health rolls you still feel way to squishy.

I'm not saying it means I am good, but it would show what value you provided. Forcing their backline to inefficiently focusing me to create space for my own backline provides value. Right now you only see damage dealt and healing done.
