Not only that, but they seem to be attracted to players that are doing actions, not the ones that hit them.

you can hit a mob and train it to somone else, and they will switch aggro to that other player, if that person is simply swinging their weapon more than you.

depends on the dungeon you died. so if you die on ruins, you have to wait till the inferno layer ends before you get it back. But generally it should not be more than about 30 minutes.

Pdr does make sense with Logsword. I'm usually running Flanged mace with Heather. So, I go for lighter armor to keep my speed and stack some Dex to be able to block and swing faster.
I find speed comfortable and can still fight well in melee if I space and block well.

Actually most people think like you, it's been a issues for a long time now and I think more and more people start to be very upset about it. Imo they should drastically reduce the acces to ranged weapon to class other than ranger. Fighter and bard should only have hand crossbow (Fighter still have the weapon mastery perk but probably nerf it back to -10% power bonus and maybe add a perk for bard that allow him to use survival bow like the spear perk of ranger). Rogue should have only the hand crossbow but with a perk like it used to at some point (the perk can give him a bit more damage).

Figther is really versatile, strong and kinda easy to learn. Can use a shield which can really be life saver at the start. Cleric can also be a good choice, slower than fighter but the fact you can heal yourself or your team mate will make the game way more frustrating at first. It'll make the learning of the dungeon, of monster attack pattern etc way more easy as you won't die on the 2 first skeleton of the game thx to the heal

Part of the reason that makes fighter problematic is how versatile the class is without much perk cost to do everything unlike other classes. Separating weapon mastery into two things nerfs the class without getting rid of the options. A crystal sword fighter can’t run a bow without sacrificing one of the other needed perks, for example.

the only way to compress matchmaking is reducing gear check. so basically we dont have choice to go back to something similar to patch 69-1. it doesnt have to be like 69-1 but at least making white close to green/blue/purples in terms of core stats. so lets say by example white +4 green/blue/purple +5 and legendary/unique +6 and artifact +6 with rolls and affixes. IN THAT CASE if we are going this way. we can remove Gear Score matchmaking and compress lobbies. otherwise, its impossible. players will get gear checked and everything. what peoples flag out on 69-1 was the lower health and ranged weapons doing too much damage. wich i agree @glad thunder please read this

I definetaly am NOT the best at the game, but the thing that I learned through this game is: not all fights must come to an end. Pick your fights, pick your spots, dissengange if needed, classes are supposed to counter each other, but outplays can happen. Enjoy the game.
I am a main ranger and this patch this class feels weak, so I switched to some other stuff like warlock, fighter and can't complain. It's fun, miss the placing some well thought traps, but meh...

Shotgun is melee range only, nobody uses it at medium-long range. By the time you get a good chance to use it, you are in range for enemy melee hits and most probably low HP or even dead.

Game's balance revolves around three mans:
Cleric is "nerf" tier, don't need to say anything else, lol.
Barb, wizard, bard and ranger are S tier. Barb best melee class (we can see that now especially), wiz has insane dps in fights, bard has buff ball plays, ranger is great with it's poke dps.

What about Fighter*? Like he's not bad in the game, but he doesn't provide much. He's basically a filler class.
Even if fighter can use weapons "better" than others, he still has no spells, no buffs, etc. No crazy reliable ranged dps. Yeah, he can use windlass, but that's it. Windlass doesn't make him as useful as Cleric is.

And yeah, fighter is S tier in solos, while he's just A tier in three mans. Overall he's in great spot. I see Cleric, barb, wiz, even bard with ranger being higher on the list of "needing some work or balance" than Fighter. And while he's good in solos, the game is balanced around Three man's.

For ranger he does only less damage if the ranger is stacking full dps stats and that makes the ranger very squish. That's fair. You can dislike a well balanced class, but some players love that. Fighters don't really get "countered" by anything, but they neither really counter anyone. It's a safe pick class that works ok. Ranger is high reward hgh risk class, same as wizard, and you can play slayer fighter, which is similar. But I see fighter as a nice option, because he is somewhat different in this way. Great class for begginers too, since he's also good in solos, while he also works good in three mans.

and Fighter isn't "perfect", there are still issues with him. Like slayer build is risky. You never really counter anyone, rarely have an advantage. Well maybe against barb, lol.
