I also sent 8 hours of just straight parrying footage to prove how the longsword was a improper 3d model. I went to school for designing and coding games. the issues are easily fixable and they just don't care. I tried to lay into him but it seems like he never dies or phases, am I forced to fight him in melee? so yes, you cannot deal dmg to the boss without acutally fighting the boss.
however, if someone else was in the boss room, you would be able to deal damage to it from outside.

I wish past limited time races/cosmetics (other than like coffee, and st Jude stuff) could be bought with shit loads of blue shards or somehow re-redeemable via a lengthy quest. People playing ranked can get their "higher skilled" lobbies AND just play for the rewards which means they don't have to spend tokens or do lengthy quests. there would be more incentive since you can not worry about stat diff of race, pressure to play cause time limit, and can keep that adventurous wonder of finding new silly cosmetics with your hard work. The true way of showing skill would be how you fight, not the cosmetics, but they would add some "flavor", especially for new players if they were accessible. (dont crucify me)

@weary pasture no they do full blown flat value blanket changes, instead of looking at math like hmmm a 10% hp decrease means 10% faster time to kill they just were like yea we want bows to 1-2 shot and a whole extra spell not be needed to kill the squishier classes. Fighter and barb would probably need their own value since they have more hp/defense overall.

Fighter with 50% or more armor and a survival bow are a pretty strong. And warlock if u can get closer enough for hit him with the curses (And u still have phantom for engage or running away and heal)

barb is actually a counter to ranger imo cus u have the ability to equip a perk called "iron will", which cancels rangers' knockback with forceful shot
but if u find it hard to dodge arrows cus u have no ranged option, play pdr fighter, its the easiest to learn/master, and u counter ranger as long as u hit ur shots

The parry is very op and do extra damage yes, u must aim for the chest or the legs but the barb weapons are very easy to parry because they are slow as fuck. Try to get very close and run around them before try to him them.

my best tip is to get good with the movement and dodging, it wins 80% of my fights being able to dodge ranged attacks
melee attacks also count but its mostly just pointing the low damage body parts to ur opponent when he swings, and aim for the head when u swing basically

I was actually suggesting a 'foot in the door' mechanic the other day where they get collision and if they are obstructed during the closing animation, they will just remain open. This would signjficantly help in chases where you are in proximity of the player and also prevent isolating a player from his team in door-camping scenarios, which contributes significantly to the overall long ttk (pre 69)

In the case of body blocking doors to prevent being chased thru, you would simply end up blocking the door yourself, and if you are chasing the person, simply running along would interupt the close therefore eliminating a major problem in chases which significantly advantages the chasee

Whenever you have magic damage somewhere, all instances of magic damage bonuses will apply. The confusing part is a normal weapon doesnt have that innately. You need "magical weapon damage" first before anything magical will add itself to your weapon OR an ability that does magical damage, like fulgor's lightning add or rogue's poison. Hopefully that clears it up a bit. Crystal sword for instance is a good example of a weapon with magical weapon damage

Through goblin merchant? Its simple. If you take in some gear, and then you die, gear that is not extracted or sent out through expressman by another player will be recovered by the goblin merchant and you can get it back for a fee! Some caveats I think... like if you die to the void in ice map

Yeaaaah no. Stats need to have increments between qualities. Its just that unfortunately, the range is a little big. An option i have proposed to reduce the overwhelming difference between gear qualities was to gain either the attribute or the roll with each quality
White 1 stat,
green 1 stat+1roll,
blue 2stats+1roll,
purple 2stats+2rolls.
Another option would be to increase the overall values and nerf the stats scaling.
White 5stats
Green 6stats
Blue 7stats
Unique 10stats
This way unique is only twice as good vs the previous 6times. Note that those numbers are simply to demonstrate the maths behind it. Imo a range from 3 (white) to 9 (unique) would provide both a good incentive to getting higher grade gear wothout being overwhelmingly more powerful

I wish they would use their test servers and incentivise players to actually play the test servers. As of right now, the test servers are basically just rotting with no player count. Maybe for playing them and then providing genuine feedback with a built in feedback page, you would be awarded a shard or two for every major testing patch. just an idea, open to new ones.

The server gives people a headstart look at stuff in progress and even then no one gave a crap. The incentive was seeing stuff in development and testing it.

i think a major turn off for a while though was the fact that you had to level a brand new character from the start and do all the respective questing to even get to the content you wanted to test. I liked when they maxed out the affinity with all the merchants so everyone had access to all crafts for a short period. That reduced the grind required to be able to actually test the crafting system when the new crafts were implemented, and it felt fun. If they kept that model, and reduced the barrier to entry for the experimental features before they went live, then I feel that would be its own incentive like you said.

yeah like THicc said, just multiply the base duration of the buff by your duration bonus, and whatever the result is, add that to the base duration. theres much more accurate formulas on the dark and darker Wiki, but an example would be something like: duration = (10*.15) + 10. 10 is your base duration, and the 0.15 is the buff bonus.

I remember when i first started playing (somewhere around september-ish) there was a thing I heard about- apparently some bug made it so PvE would be able to target chicken form.. or something about the chicken form hitbox was extra large.. or something. so, that, but for panther. I just went and tested it. Skeleton Archer is about 20' away and I can run in a straight line past the archer, perpendicular to his shot when fired, and as a human, even with weapon out, the arrow goes right behind me. Even when walking backwards, I'm fast enough to not get hit.

As a cat? Jumping, dashing, crouching last second, running forwards sideways or backwards.. I get hit every time. 100% accuracy.

Yeah its a bit overtuned rn. Banshee takes way too long to kill combined with spectral and provide both fairly significant threat and challenges. They need to fix that as unless youre very geared, they are not worth doing esp since they on first layer. With the hp nerf you also die super easy against spectral even with a bit of gear

Im guessing theyll tune them a bit sometime soon, but on the bright side... i dont think its intended to be fully solo'd and imo that takes away from the whole team aspect of the game if you can just do everything by yourself. Bosses should need a team, like lich. Its just AI and mechanics dont always allow it. Like troll is easier solo cause his weird aggro and borderline undodgeable attack patterns on his charge

Too many queus splits the playerbase too much. Also it aint too bad but 25minutes just to get there is indeed too long, not to mention risky. Opening the layers immediatly might be a solve but then people just rush. It may be interesting to see tho, 30minutes to go through all 3 maps, and you have to reclimb the floors to effectively get out. Add a room for clearing all bosses in 1 run too 😎

It might work if you could also spawn in either ruins or crypt. Less spawn rushing and you run into players later into the game instead of wiping everything in ruins then going down for free loot

Its not. Otherwise you would not be able to be stuck for 30 seconds while slowly getting mauled to death by mobs. Its the default game state. just try to pass any skeleton in the game. tell me if you feel like you get as close to it as you should. you dont.

Its not an assumption. You've seen the balance changes they throw out. This hitbox fix literally requires 1 value change, and that is the colision width of the invisible circle shaped hitbox that they have used to block collision. It takes less than 10 seconds to fix if you know where you left the damn value line in the files.

What if changing the collision hitbox, makes the mobs cheeseable, by running inside of them, so that their attacks don't hit you anymore or something? Then you might also have to change their AI too. But what if changing their AI introduces other weird behaviours... I wouldn't be surprised if they tested that already.

By killing Cyclops you can get the gold pile which can net you consistently about 400-700gp, and if someone else does the Troll you can get the gold ore which is worth 1150gp a stack right now.

I mean, yeah but there's always more profitable things to farm. Troll Pelt is a 15% chance for pelt, meanwhile if you have 150 luck you have a 30% chance of getting a Spectral Fabric from Spectral Knight which is worth 10k. Also if you assum you only get Troll Pelt at that 15% chance, then it's effective value is 675 gold a kill.

But overall yeah troll is better to kill, but contested way more and still relies on RNG to make any money.

Gotcha gotcha. Well again be careful with troll as he's a lot more lethal than Cyclops, and you're probably 5x more likely to run into other players fighting him. He's all about spacing though, so if you just figure out how far away you need to be to not get hit by his club, you literally just circle him at that range the entire fight.

My thoughts on the state of the game:
-The new halloween merchant displaced many other merchants UI positions, and now my muscle memory is gone. It is annoying.

-Ranged 1 shots don't feel fun to play against, and they feel cheap to use.

-The revet from patch 69-1 to 68 was great. looting feels meaningful again and so putting on gear has purpose

-I think the removal of x2 mvm speed rolls on boots makes mvm speed harder to obtain, so you gotta sacrifice other stats unless ur super BISed out, which is probably for the best

-I have grown more familiar with the 3-layer dungeon system,, and I don't mind the idea, but it's unfortunate that crypts is locked behind ruins. Crypts PVP is generally infrequent, compared to back when you could queue for crypts, and now crypts is more boring

-I dislike some modules in Ruins that have pathing that don't trigger mobs (a.k.a the northern most modules), since it encourages spawn rushing

-I enjoy the goblin gear buy-back system. It makes dying sting a tiny bit less even though you can still lose your gear if people loot you and escape. I can play HR all day and rotate through 3 sets and only lose some peices every now and then. Although HR feels a bit less risky, because you can boss, for example, without fear of losing your gear if you succesfully clear the lobby. Is that okay? Arguably so. What I find silly, is that if you are about to die, you can drop your gear in hard-to-find areas, making it hard for attackers to find your gear and loot you (especially rings and necklaces). IMO, a system that encourages dropping and hiding your gear isn't very healthy in the spirit of looting.

-the quest reward releasing gold, frostlight, and rubysilver crafts all the same weak made the quest grind much less enjoyable weeks after the craftable-gear quests got released that.

@vapid arch shot-gun is poorly designed. It's a strong up-close ability on a class that is strong long range. Possible solutions: make it not reload your bow, make the startup animation quite long, lower the damage, make it cooldown that requires a fire to get back so you can't just spam it, and/or make it so you can't hold onto it infinately to force someone off you. An attacker should be able to bait it, then just wait for it to expire to punish an early shotgun
