A huge part of PvP learning curve is realizing not every fight is winnable. And learning what choices you have and what choices the enemy has.

You don't get a free pass just because you "put on some gear". In a month or so time a decent number of new players will be proficient to pvp and see that distinction.

The pve is intentionally very easy to learn, after an hour you move into category two and are essentially met with a wall of players in full epics spawning hydras on top of you and killing you in 1-2 hits. This isn't my first time playing a videogame I'm aware there's a learning curve, my question is how has it been like 2 years of development and now the week the game goes public this is the state of lobbies? You aren't defaulted into those queues. This is something others have also touched on. There is a locked low gearscore set of normals. Then there's everything else. That's very clearly communicated in and out of game.

You are choosing to take non-starter gear into the lobby. That not default gear. 25 and above is the 2nd bucket. I don't work for IM. I've just been playing for a long time and enjoy the game.

It is ok to want to bring more than just commons to a run.

But it's also ok to realize you will be put in the 2nd bracket because of it. Take some accountability for yourself. If you wish to not see other rarities stay below 25 GS.

@red scaffold a chest is one of the rarest and most sought after items. The market place gold cap is 50k gold, a chest is worth vastly more than that this early into the wipe. Hence they won't be sold there.

During rock fall, Cyclops will do 4 slams then repeat. First slam you jump 1 second after his club hits the ground. The following three will have you jump half a second after it hits the ground. It then resets to the first slams animation, where you will jump 1 second after he slams the ground, then repeat the cycle.

The escape elevator in the center of goblin caves lowers at different intervals (like the boat in ice caverns), you can find it at the 4 minute mark and the 1:30 minute mark. (These aren’t the only 2, these are just the last 2 before the dungeon collapses.)

Uh yeah, main reason I say it’s easier is because it’s just strafe and weave hits in. Cyclops has more diversity in attacks. The health isn’t that big of a deal tbh.

I like to think cyclops is simple because you only need to know 2 things for his basic skills, circle left Indefinitely and jump his swipe. Makes his non rock fall phase very simple. But the timing is not easy for rock fall.

Conversely, troll has 3x the basic abilities and they can fluidly combo, but once you know the spacing it's easy and you can flawless troll very consistently.

Rangers fine if you know how to space and kite, but that’s a skill that is learned over time. One of the harder classes to just pick up and play. It 100% will get easier with time, play what you like and don’t fall into the “this isn’t meta” or “this is bis!!” mindset

All of those scale worse with true damage and + damage, all of them lack inherent armor reduction, all of the buffs are smaller %s than the buffs rogues get, all of them have much higher movespeed penalties and lock you into animations longer. why do bigger weapons need to make players so lethargic, and why must their single target damage be so terrible, and why must so many buffs benefit daggers more than any other weapon?

Make sure you’re above 300 MS, it’s rough in the latest patch because a lot of classes are super quick rn. Unfortunately it’s a big rock paper scissors. You’ll slap a PDR fighter with patience, but get mauled by people who are quicker and can close gaps

If you’re struggling this much, just run war maul cleric, or barb zwei. I don’t mean to be rude but it’s just a bit of a skill gap. Rogues are dangerous, but they’re made of wet paper napkins. Going into a help channel because you’re getting jabbed isn’t the play here. Learn the class, learn their weaknesses, adapt, and survive.

in terms of spells: ghost king is easy, wait for him to do his grab, let him grab a tree, and sit while he does that, with lich, its a little eh, i pulled it off twice without a serious kit, for testing and i had success on both times using thorn wall and a tree behind it to act as padding, not sure about it now though with the reduced duration

What i would recommend doing is either A. Playing the meta. B. Spamming one map(prob not ice cave tho) learning the layout entirely. C. Thorn barrier is much better in terms of blocking off an opponent from their team, and can easily win fights in duos/trios. It can also be used to escape from players, as it takes several swings to destroy. Entangling vines is just not really good in pvp at all, as its super easy to dodge and it got nerfed

Zwei is great at headshotting a group of similar height dudes but it's so bad in any other context.
If you're not getting headshots you get limb hits
It's night unuseable in a hallway
it takes nearly a full second to do your super predictable swing so even a grandmother can block it on reaction
Despite this, it bounces off most player shields
the secondary attack has demanding spacing if you don't want the first hit to limb hit
it drops movespeed by FORTY on top of all these.

this game isn't even remotely as complex as league; builds are pretty uncomplicated in this game and the actual game mechanics are pretty rudimentary. if you have any experience with a competitive shooter or a medieval combat game you can learn everything there is to know about this game in like 50hrs

in league it takes most people infinitely more just to get 8cs per minute without inting their lane

You can save most spells other than ignite if you run it on pve. No reason to burn them and spend forever resting, but in PVP sling that shit.

if you give this game to a typical gamer that plays typical blockbuster games, they're going to instantly apply knowledge from other games to this one and pick it up very quickly. the hardest thing they're going to have a problem with is learning mob movesets so they don't lose hp to pve

Yeah im also talking about Dota the custom game in warcraft 3, not dota 2 which came out after league. Dota was arguably simpler than leauge just because the game was so much older and it was a custom game mode built on top of the original game with their game editor.

Id argue than DaD is way harder to learn just because movement in this game is a learned skill. Learning every module and how to navigate it. A game like league is 2d on the same small static map. It's so easy to play all of the nuance is what items to buy and ADHD focus on right clicking low health mobs.

this isn't a "dad is hard" problem. most people won't even bother spending five seconds doing a google search about basic fact-checking before opening their mouth about something, let alone watching a 30min guide on how to kill every pve mob

learning is a skill; if you apply it, learning dad is infinitely easier than learning any moba

you either need dozens of hours of guided practice with a skilled player or potentially hundreds of hours just playing league of legends before you can even understand the basics of playing a single role/lane

i'm not even going to go into games that are truly alien - like rocket league - where even thousands of hours of dedicated practice and grinding will get most players to like... plat/diamond lol

anyone that's ever done coaching/lessons for any game knows that the actual problem isn't difficulty; it's getting people to focus on learning techniques instead of just playing the game and learning it through osmosis

it's why most people are bad at fgc games (and rocket league) and why you can be better than 90% of the people that touch either if you spend like 15mins practicing basic shit every day
