Someone made the suggestion of capping MS for each class individually and the more I think about it, the more I think that is a genius idea, and would be a huge boon to balancing the classes properly and making them play as they were intended. From there you can balance out skills/perks etc. within that limitation.

Rogue>Wizard>Druid>Warlock>Ranger>Barbarian>Fighter

Barb and Figher get less MS than Ranger because they can spam throwables so dang easy and have so much HP steroids getting hit a few times doesn't matter, and can answer back to a Ranger, everyone else gets faster move speed than a Ranger, becuse Ranger has the ranged advantage on them, and can perk in a spear melee slot which is powerful.

A good way to mitigate ranged meta is to make throwables non stackable

If you'd want to spam them as hard as right now, it's double the inventory space, and twice as much inventory management in combat

lol took the option to pick maps, limited players to one map that a lot of people dont really like. Give the players what they like, PVP more map choices and stop changing the map rotation every two days, give the game an unstable vibe. Best game out with the most potential. But if you want to not kill the game give us an option to play maps we like, bring back original goblin caves, reduce the amount of AI on the ice map, bring greens and maybe blues into norms, and suck off whoever you need to in order to get the game on steam and get people to advertise the game by offering bigger streamers keys or something.

Would it be an idea to have a 9th Character slot available in Character selection that is considered a "Hardcore mode" that when it dies it is instantly deleted. I think this is necessary because I'd like to play all possible characters but with the addition to quests I want all 8 slots saved. With an extra hardcore slot it allows us to try all characters and also have some fun trying the game in hardcore mode without deleting invested in characters

This is the test server, having another limited test server is just stupid at this stage. As not only is that going to break up the small player base even more. All the hardcore bias fans who paid top dollar are going to get into it, and that's a small % of the actual playerbase. So the feedback won't reflect at all what majority may want, or like which will just throw even further delays and roadblocks into this already slow development process.

I fear the development will just keep going in circles, and the try hard fans are going to keep making lame excuses of "progress" just because new stuff is added despite the same never ending circle of problems keeps happening, and that's going to push most people away like it has.

The state of DB while it wasn't perfect, had a lot less complaints than even Dark and Darker did at its height, and the developers actually quickly, and competently squashed most of the problems, without creating yet another big swing of problems and balance issues like IM has every single time.

If that same status quo continues this game isn't gonna grow, and DB will take over. I hope IM gets its crap together fast.

No way, the game was insanely popular until they took it off steam then they came out with their own launcher which I get it people dont want to dl it since its some random launcher and a big company trying to take them down. Letting barb go unchecked for so long was a major frustration, it quite literally took them 3 or 4 days to hot fix Savage Roar stacking and removing 100% of your physical damage bonus, making you effectively do NO damage as a melee class, especially when they've hotfixed other things much much faster in the past. It just showed they didn't give a shit.

A significant portion of the community played solo rogue as well, and they nerfed it 6 times in a row in the midst of allowing all of that other stuff to happen. Priorities we're all fucked up.

They'll have to make a lot of really good back to back changes in order to get any significant portion of the community they lost back at all.

I'm well aware of the balancing issues; but my concern is that it's blatantly worse than it ever used to be. I understand adding new content creates more issues with balancing; but I feel like they should be straying away from balancing classes according to simply making them stronger or weaker; and adding more utility to the game to allow skill to take place over gear; at least in some capacity.

Most of the balances are just increasing or decreasing numbers. Keeping a flatter curve between mid to high gear, and introducing new mechanics to allow versatility in utiliies; is the better move in my opinion.

have you tried using the slow spell and not facetanking the barbarian? i get it, barbarian is a big issue, but every time i see a wizard complain about barbarian they dont use slow (to counter the barbs speed) and they use magic missile while literally sitting still letting the barb run up and headshot them for free killing them in 1-2 hits.

im not sure if im misunderstanding these players, but wizard is not supposed to be in melee range against barbarian. if you have the time to zap and use multiple lightning strikes you have the time to use slow and keep pressure with more zaps/lightning strikes while refreshing the slow. its hard to aim it sometimes for sure, if you miss you die, but that's how 1v1 works as the glass cannon class. you're balanced around making no mistakes, when you do you die. when you dont you win.

There are 2 problems here, although I understand what you're saying. Yes I do use slow, however sometimes you can't. The games maps, especially crypts, are very close quarters. I usually have no problem with barbarians, as strong as they are. However as stated, the map favors them. The second problem is, with what I did to that barbarian most will die. We have no way of knowing how close to a kill we are, and that hurts more classes than others.

So like, if i had been able to scout and see he had a random MR neck with iron will I may have played it differently.

Whereas, his job is to W. Left click, and manage his ability timing. That's it. I have to sweat hard as fuck.

They don't need to remove stats. There's nothing wrong with converting +2 true magic damage to +5% magic power

Magic resist can be converted to a linear value, so 5 magic resist equates to -5% less incoming magic power.

One more thing to note, this barb was bad. He didn't use a throwing axe. He played like a dummy and it was my fault for thinking since he was bad he'd drop. But alas, bad or not, he had a free resist wizard perk, 185 HP off blue items, hits like a truck and can 3 shot me in a 30k kit with a quarterstaff

i really dont think you should be thinking that because "most barbarians would die" to face stuffing him with magic missile that it's somehow a good idea to do it. if you use magic missile and effectively get unlucky with animations and his hand pops up in front of your face blocking a lot of ur hits while he swings you lose 30-40% of your dps, if you include headshots as potential that's a range of damage from 60% to 150%, which is a huge variable. it simply is NOT worth the gamble against a class that actively stacks magic resistance specifically to counter wizard as one of their more common builds.

it does feel bad as a player to die to a brainless shitter who holds W, but they played the class that if you let them do that they win and you played the class who is a literal glass cannon. the only way to really beat barbarian is to play smart and play consistently (and hope they dont throw 6 axes into your head). that's just the design of the wizard class ATM, you have the highest skill cap in the entire game, and in exchange for that huge potential you likely die when you make a single mistake.

it's a hard life, every door is a potential death, every corner a potential camper. but the benefit is you can absolutely shit on people 1v3+ if you play super well. wizard has the biggest ups and downs of any of the classes and that's a really awsome character design imo. having the potential of outplaying 5 people and capitalizing heavily off of their mistakes is super fun. i dont play wizard a lot because making a mistake is soul crushing and you generally need pretty decent gear to do those crazy plays. but i think, other than being 1-shot by a ranger (cheating a lot of the time and then gets banned 5 days later, and before their damaged was nerfed 4 times) and being killed by ranged barbarians(because throwing axes are totally balanced ) personally, ive not had a single unavoidable death as wizard (assuming im wearing at least decent blue/purples)

i just dont think you need an insane kit to be on equal footing in most cases. you can get max roll blues with 2 good stats + decent purples and easily crush people with 800g-1.5k kits depending on the base items you go for. you wont be 1v3/ 1v4 against full golds, but you probably were never gonna do it anyway cuz they all had better gear than you to begin with. i feel like most people have a hard time playing wizard in long fights and that is where the sentiment of not being able to do anything comes from, its very common i see a wizard hit someone 1-2 times and full send into their face which is absolutely not the correct play 70% of the time

this advice won't really help before wipe, but I suggest once we get into next wipe using one of your first 2 stashes as a complete gold hoard/future quest item storage area; the cost of unlocking the third stash is 10,000 (if it stays the same) and one stash full of purses can hold 12000 gold so you get a couple of extra slots at the bottom to hold future quest items.
It'll help you alot with keeping track of the things you need and staying organized

If the game was intended to have a timer, it would have came with one. They only added it because of the rotation, because they didnt want ppl teaming in the rotating lobbies. That's all it was for. Not allowing ppl to come in with a fresh kit was just a side effect. It can still be done but u waste more time having to get urself killed for a fresh kit.

Nothing wrong with a mob spawning in an uncleared room you donkey, it’s the fact it’s spawning in the middle of the hallway so that I have no chance of escaping, I’m already at a huge disadvantage against 2 barbs. I was having fun but that gets sucked away by a random mob blocking me, they dont have to spawn in areas where you can’t get through. after playing duo on crypts for a long time and already loving duo ruins, i gotta say this game is just so much more enjoyable in duos.. less hectic fights, less spam, less crowded, less buff ball, more classes can be utilized and allows a lot more of a variety of play styles. do not remove duos from the game ironmace, that would be a huge mistake. the ice map just wasnt the best, people love duos but just werent keen on that map

They need to keep the rock/paper/scissors balance tbh, it means solos will never be completely balanced, but if you are in a bad matchup, you can always just run

True damage is in general only a small portion of the total damage, building resistances will still lower the overall damage you take.

Running away only works to a certain point. Turning your back on your enemy to run away is often a bad idea. The person who chases is often in a far better spot as they can anticipate your moves and cut corners to close the gap. I play most of the kiting classes and it is way harder than you might think. If you accidentally run into a dead end you are pretty much dead.

Edit: This is one of my gripes with the kitting classes, if you find your self in a hallway with a closed door and melee player standing in your way there is pretty much no way to get past them as most hallways are too narrow to stay out of their range while passing, it pretty much comes down to a lucky duck and hope for the best.

I say slow everyone down, limit MS on every class, make it easier to build projectile dam resist, make it so barbs only get to hold 4-6 total frannys but can get them back from dead bodies... i get so mad when someone i should have killed is able to just simply his hands up and just walk away from me, and now as a pure melee class im stuck to some benny hill ass gameplay for 5 mins..
