try baiting the enemy to swing before going in, do 1 or 2 attacks then back up again... slow as sht to kill enemies but u should be able to learn their moveset and how to actually dodge attacks as well as taking less dmg

That helped but I'm still getting owned, I don't get it. I just circled some centipede monster for 2 minutes straight while stabbing him and he didn't die until he eventually got me

This is dumb, I spawn in always next to 2-3 mobs usually, might take down 1 or 2 but I can't recover hp so die before I can clear them. If I try to avoid them I just run into other mobs

I'm playing the goblin caves solo mostly, so it's a tight map I get caught up on things a lot

yeah, you can go both dmg abilities for ranger, shotgun shot for close range when you need it, and the burst shot for range
id say rock fighter to get the hang of it then try cleric and self buff a lot, can help you thru lots with sheild/dmg boost./heal etc
