Also the way they generally do the updates when everything stops for hours... I don't know any specifics, but it seems like their code delivery and db migration is not well organised. Which is understandable, it's not like they are a huge company that has a dedicated DevOps team (tho they would benefit a lot from having one)

Less of a choice and more of "working with what you have". Especially when they got a lawsuit on their hands that could have basically deleted the game from existence. Not a good place to invest a lot of resources into future proofing your infrastructure

It's pretty normal for a startup. I hope that as soon as the lawsuit thing is fully resolved that they will heavily invest in the CI/CD processes. It's not like you can hire a guy. You need a team of experienced people and a lot of time to build something from the ground up. I hope the migration of the db that is going on rn is one of the steps in that direction
