im not sure but i was told iron mace rents out servers from a company and by extending it, it goes against their contract and causing other people who wants to use their servers and paid for it a unfair priority

Level based would not change much as you might not notice but its usually gear that makes the most difference, also if you get 3 rangers you can kill just about anything and anyone so do that

This game has betrayal mechanics and that is esspecally so in goblin, if you find someone who will actually team with you instead of stab you in the back the moment an opportunity arises, good on you, otherwise keeping around someone who can be a viscous enemy if provided the opportunity is not a good idea

I didn't say it was, I just said, they said IF it did, it would be Q2. that's all.
They got a lot of testers who could give feedback, and they shut it down before people got burnt out since the game isn't fully fleshed out.
Time to work on and test the game with new features on their own before early access or the next playtest
well servers cost money, and you cant even pay for the game yet. its also not in a finished state and seems like the devs dont want to charge money for an unfinished product. there are other reasons but this one is probably the easiest to understand
It's like dealing meth and giving your clients a little taste of the product to get them hooked. If this game suddenly released on steam, as polished as it'll be upon true release, it's likely very few would bat an eye to it. But by engaging with the playerbase and letting any random fellow test the waters, they're getting a massive fanbase alongside some of the best testing a studio can get
get them addicted to meth and lock them in a room without any and watch them go mentally insane then after months finally give them more meth to feed that bloodcurdling addiction and then take it away from them again to be funny

You shouldnt have a chance when your a solo vs. Duos or trios by DEFAULT, i think you should have a chance if you out gear and outskill them, currently i feel like that is the case, if its unfun for you, practise more, gear up in solos more, youll start to beat them
Dark and Darker is one of the best games in a while. It made me feel like a kid again, just stress free, having fun. Very few games can do that.
It's not a pvp game, you just shouldn't be able to solo 3 people. If you wanna go solos into that map expect to be a little bit more unconventional in your plan, you don't have to be a mindless NPC that just swings every time your neurons are activated. Use darkness and sound to scout out people, isolate one in an ambush or avoid them entirely

The gains is not having the playerbase be split by 5 diffrent que types, the trios dungoen is built around having a trio as well, theyd have to redesign the whole dungeon for that kindve experience, and the benifit of going solo in trios if your able to take on duos and trios is 100% of the potiential loot rather than 33% its a pretty significant difference if you consider the profit margins

Considering this is an Alpha, me and my friend enjoyed the experience very smoothly and pretty almost without bug (the only one i got is: matchmaking started > my friend joined i remained into lobby stuck in searching and without the possibility to cancel the queue (as it says the match is currently running or something like. nothing bad as it happened once and a restart of game fixed it)). All to say this is a quality development. Thanks for this. You rock 🤘

The Goblin Mines were my favorite part of this playtest, I really enjoyed the opportunity to run around and talk to people without necessarily killing each other. Are there any plans to add more solo maps in the future?

It was an experiment for their idea with long term maps. If the feedback is positive then it's likely we'll see more maps designed around specific party sizes, which I think is better for the game than forcing different sized queues on a larger map designed for larger parties.
I thought the goblin tunnels wouldn't be good, but I enjoyed them quite a lot and the worries I had never happened

I believe the Goblin Cave was the rework of the originally planned level 1, "Caves," right? Seems that way to me, as several playtests ago they mentioned they were going to bring in level 1 Caves, and they never did.

Idk I got to enjoy the game for a whole 3hrs because of my busy work schedule. For a game as unique and loved by a huge community I'm sure they can figure out a way to gain support for server cost.
Hopefully the next will last up until launch. I don't mind whiping the characters and reseting for balance test but let us play the game.

The escape portals are timed with the entire match, doing that would accomplish pretty much nothing other than just confusion.

Based on the #📢announcements we might be getting another playtest before the possible April early access, would be nice to see more on that new class they teased, but we'll be getting something like a roadmap I think from when I was researching the pre playtests videos from anyone who had contact with the devs. Not too surprising since Ironmace is pretty good at communication, but still worth a mention.

Yeah I mean it is a skill to be able to inventory manage on the fly to cycle out better loot, it can be a pain to the more casual player like myself. I'd take a MS hit to have a backpack in trios, but in terms of base inventory who knows what they might do

You can get a lot of dmg out as cleric if you stack the right items, don't ask me because I am not that skilled. I recommend watching Chad Cleric from PhoenixDexterity to learn more on that.

I don't think you can get judgement to one shot, but you can probably manage to buff up with protection and divine strike, trade 2 blows, space, then cast judgement. They'll either be dead, or just about after that depending on gear

The game as it is, it's already very nice and people pre orders shit games that have 0 value and die within a week, giving money for something we already tested and know it's alpha is far better this is just how the current market is, you don't want your game to 'die ' and no 'hype' google VHS ( dbd like game) what happen when they went extra down for 3 months between playtest and EA
That is kind of where I'm coming from though. Releasing a game missing key components of content or metagame could easily cause hype to die down. I have no problem with supporting the game, I've played 100+ hours across playtests. I'm just saying I think it would be wise to wait until they have a content rich game to release and then build on that hype. Otherwise people might play it and say "this is it?" And never give it a chance again.

I mean... DnD has by far released a more than playable game. Sure, its a bit basic at the moment in the broadest respect... You go in, you kill things, you try and survive. Its not like there's just one type of enemy and no use for money to be collected in said dungeons. I'm curious as to what you want in a "content rich game"?
Not to say that the game doesn't have room to improve, again, in the broadest respect its a bit basic but imo definitely going in the right direction.
What weapons do you guys think need to be buffed? I've found Bardiche and Quarterstaff kind of mid, at least with Qstaff you get good movement speed and it's a rare blocking option for Barbarian, but Bardiche.. You move slow asf, it's poor in PVE, yes it can block but it's animation is really awkward compared to LSword or QStaff and it's DPS is hilariously bad, I wouldn't be surprised if QStaff kills faster.
How's the Halberd? It's the only weapon I've never tried but I wonder if it shares the Bardiche woes.
Game is pretty far from release mate. I do however hope some parts get a 2nd pass specifically stash size and player trading (just give us an actual auction please)

I think the most desbalanced was the barbarian
Wizard is very powerful in the right hands but only dumpsters on Barbarians and Clerics imo. Fighters can 1 tap a max gear wizard with a shitty xbow it's just most players are kinda bad and can't hit their shots.
I somewhat agree with Claudeyr although mainly because Barbarians Axe Specialist passive is horribly overtuned (seriously what other passive gives you 25-45% more damage and further stacks with other damage passives? insane ahh perk)
i agree aswell. I only ever had real issues with the barbarian (I played mostly Fighter) Tended to always 1hit me no matter the gear or potions
Learn to use your mobility and blocks as well as body manipulation against them. If you can avoid a headshot and force a body hit you'll increase your chances dramatically. An average longsword user that can riposte can dumpster a good barbarian.
With Wizard you had to actually be careful. there were 3 single target spells:
Zap - Didnt do much damage more of a finisher
Ice Bolt - slow but not too much damage
magic missiles - have to hold still.
Other than that if you get up on the wizard they are likely dead

Blocks are extremely accurate in this game, that is to say their hitboxes are 1:1 with their models so in order for a block to work you must actually deflect it. Common rule of thumb is if you can see them, your shield is too low.

Personally I feel they did amazing on the wizard making them have to actually think and plan their spells my only gripe with the class was that meditate was a requirement. There really wasnt another option. Now if I could for instance bring 2 sets of ignite and 3 sets of haste it would be better similar to memorizing spellbooks in pathfinder or DnD that would be useful because then you could take the passives for armor, reactive shield, and fire damage lowers their physical resistance and this would also let you run both spell books so you just bring a lot of spells but no way to recover them
Uncommon knowledge but Longswords block has a unique 2 attack combo attack chain you can only trigger after a successful block (tap right click 1-2 times after you block with it) these are some of the fastest attacks in the game and do increased damage, you can easily pop 2 of these off between every Felling Axe swing.
I recommend buying a couple grey Longswords and practicing on a Barbarian friend or a random skeleton next playtest. Obviously a lot cheaper practicing blocking with a shield since you start with one.
You do not actually need meditate. If you're chad enough you can use campfires only to refresh your spells, which means running double spell memory is a real viable strategy.

But they literally made the crystal sword (which has its downside the casting point is further from your body making it more likely to tag off walls and mobs, they have a passive for extra armor and frostbite on hit, ignite and haste. They have all the tools for a battlemage except prepping of spells to go towards it

So your comment is that their main weakness and counter is drawn out combat which would remain if they were buff reliant but if for instance I could take the instant cast ability and a spellbook (i would lose ability to regenerate spells easily in exchange for being able to periodically cast a spell fast). Wizards have all the tools to go melee or range just the spellbook needs a redesign and I do not think it would be much more op then me slamming haste and ignite on my rogue buddy and him stabbing people

So I think stacking spells would honestly be the only way to make a melee wizard work without meditate. I just abhor the meditate reliance. Letting a wizard take 2x ignite 2x haste 1x invisibility would open up the ability to drop meditate imo and make them able to go battle mage due to seeing enemies instant cast ignite or haste and fight up front.

I mean the only class actually good at troll killing is Ranger tbh. Troll in general is a weird mechanic which I'm not completely happy with. Wizard can kill Troll about as "easily" as other melee classes provided you learn the pattern since the only way to avoid its rush after its shout outside of that one niche Fighter ability (Breakthrough) is to face hug him and duck looking down.

I just remembered that Barb has that one passive that gives you a 45% magic res for free and his biggest counter is Wizard so that's actually kinda smart. Ig Cleric has the most issues with Wizards since Clerics have no fucken ranged option at all.

People have done it. Google it. Its very annoying and you need to know how to body manipulate to avoid the swings but it's very possible to do it without block.

Yeah honestly the game is surprisingly well balanced. I think there's some tweaking that could be done to passives and some weapons are UP, but things ppl are calling OP really aren't. I genuinely think the only OP thing in the game is Axe Specialist passive for Barbarian which caused a butterfly effect making people think Felling Axe/Horseman Axe was OP (the passive can be literally up to 45% damage increase for a low tier Horseman and even in Purple tier its still more than 10%, insane)

Think of casting time sort of like drawing an arrow, releasing the button is like releasing the arrow and sending it.
But he is not a support... its wizard he have buffs ok and solo dmg... so they MUST change him in his mechanics. remake the maditation system i think now he can do play 1 vs teams but they need to balbance it like other calasses i dont need a super easy wizxard who is op and over powered its not game about this. look at other characters rogue low dmg but so fast and can hide/ fighter an one who us uni af can be slow tanky brick, can do a lot of dmg by long sword, can use shields, can use bows/ barba [ i think now he i a little over powered tbh but a little bit ] slow but can one shoot you/ ranger so as his name call RANGE they have balance all have perks/ items/ skills that make them balanced and mage you shoot 2-3 mobs must sit on ass because in fight situation without any spells you bonk someone by 10 with stuff and get one shooted :DD you cant sit on you grandpa ass in fight so its impossible to have your main weapon in game : ) its super difficult to play him i mean its EXTREME gap between do some dmg and do nothing. AND remember his old so he is slow af in doing stuffs, in looting to so you play with some nice teammates who give you some stuff or you end with nothing good at all on team dungs 😊

Many people consider Wizard OP and most would very easily fit them in the top 3 best in trios. They're probably in the top 3 best in high gear Gobbo Caves too.

"its super difficult to play him" well yes different classes have different skill floors and skill ceilings. If you want the simplest class play Barb, you can master Barb very quickly too. On the opposite end of the spectrum are Rogue and Wizard which require dense understanding of multiple game mechanics while barely surviving on low HP and DR. This doesn't mean they need a change, it just means you should try a lower skill floor class instead if you can't handle them yet.
a passive for slow regeneration of low level spells (like level 1 and 2 spells) to remove the absolute requirement of meditate would also be a ncie idea. that way wizards could regenerate ignite for instance and always have some source of damage rather than being out of the fight.
also @rain bluff i fully agree..... one mistake can mess up your team.... i remember when my barbarian ran in front of my chain lightning and it hit my whole team 😦 sad day for us

they even did 0-hero videos, and still playing solo in trios like it was nothing
there are always those types in every single game. the people who just crush it. that isnt who the scaling should be based upon though it leads to bad experience for the majority.
its all about positioning, campfires, double spell books and a dagger. NEVER use the staff that thing is horrid. also theres a couple different ways to play caster wiz. i've seen fireball mains, CL mains, Zap mains. Kind of just depends on your playstyle but literally every single one of them would Haste / Invis, rush behind the team and then take them out. it worked everytime lol
You can enter Goblin Caves with 600 gp loot and still die to a 50 gp naked Rogue. The game uses players own risk-reward rather than artifical matchmaking to equalise fights. Likewise if you manage to kill a Cobalt Geared Cleric while using nothing but your starting gear you just risked 0gp and got their 600gp gear.
That's the same core gameplay loop seen in other extract shooters like Tarkov or POE.
I got some good invis ambushes myself and juked barbarians and had a great time with wiz. PoE isnt a extract it is a diablo successor. It is just the easiest example of a game where everything is scaled off the elite players
in PoE for example less than 5% hit end game because of how they scaled it. From what i saw and talked with people most people never even made it through the red portals
in the about this game on the steam page it talks about choosing a role and then talks about a bard "Play as a brawny barbarian holding the frontlines while your sharp-eyed ranger friend fires arrows from afar and your merry bard sustains morale with a lively tune." does this mean we will get more classes when the game comes out?

I have been working on some stuff with them to enhance my coding experience as there are a bunch of high tier game designers their who may know more about the engine Dark and Darker uses and they are all willing to spend time teaching
You say this, but I don’t think you have seen/played what I have seen/played this play test LOL. Running at the speed of light invisible 3 shorting any class in the game with a flame buff dagger isn’t any kind of skill to me. Fighter in my opinion highest skill gap in the game with different weapons available and the highest probability of 1v3 and survivability if played correctly

I get that but you have only yourself to blame for getting hit considering your immense movement speed. Also you really don't need to hit someone 10 times in pvp to kill them as wizard. Incinerate does 50+ damage overtime and you're liable in dealing about 80 damage on a white dagger in one hit (DOT included). You can literally run circles around a Barb.
Yes Barbs have the highest kill count because they're the dedicated frontliner with no other function. They're also mained last test by 16 hour a day streamers like Stouty. Wizard still sits very high on the lists.
I've been saying Barb is overtuned myself too. Axe Specialist passive specifically.

Every class can use consumables to heal. Cleric is the only class that can heal others. Wizard is a nimble but frail nuker/utility controller with ranged speciality while Cleric is a slow but tanky healer/buffer with melee and anti-undead speciality.
he must have a distance because on close range fight he is 2 easy to kill but you know imagine you slash him he have maybe 15 hp now haste run heal to all hp and put on you some projectiles loot you and make campfire or medidation to have another heals XD its just too stupid if he have heal option

Levels. I never really noticed much of a difference leveling up aside from every lvl 5 levels to lvl 15. And with the Max being lvl 20 with no perk, i wanted to make a suggestion.
A stash reward or something given every lvl up, and if they don't allow us to put more perks on at lvl 20, then to allow us to just keep leveling like new level+ and each level we get a small reward.
It would make dying 2-4 games in a row feel less disapointing if once a lvl i got like, a small stash of coins, or small stack of candies.
or something of that sort.
Well unfortunately wizard plays nuclear rogue better than rogue can even come close to in terms of “nuking”, especially considering you could melt people with straight magic damage as wizard it just wasn’t fun to play against

Wizard feels like it’s in the right spot until you experience flame buff dagger and a wizard that moves faster than a charging barbarian is stabbing you manically and you’re dead in 3 hits, otherwise it does feel balanced

i also agree with leader Bee, lvling DID feel a bit fast and reaching max lvl so quickly AND getting no new perks/rewards made it not feel as rewarding or needed as i orginally thought. lvl 15 felt like the max, not 20

Yes I actually mentioned that earlier. Personally think the simplest and best fix for this would be making Haste and Invisibility incompatible, as in one cancels the other. You can either go fast or be invisible not both.
Is there some information/news when the new acces/demo will come? Hopefully not in longer term '' months'' xD
that would make good sense, also maybe do the same for some cleric spells, some of those really stack and one cleric can make someone into a beast or even themselves into a beast

Levelling up is fine imo. It's not the main progression of the game (that's individual skill, your bank, and eventually trader level) if they overtuned levelling it'd make Rogue extremely unpleasant to play as it's nigh unplayable before lvl 10-15.
I think Cleric stacking is fine for the most part. The biggest egregious issue is the fact Protection spell stacks with Protection potions giving you 137 physical health, higher than a base Barbarian and since Cleric gets heavy armor access that can give them in the 270 effective HP due to damage resistance.
i suppose i largely agree, i just felt like i shouldnt be almost level 20 within 2 days of playing...obviously part of that is due to it being a test and XP is probably largely inflated for the purposes of testing

its why i think there should be rewards for lvling, or maybe when those quests come out for real, they can make even losing a game feel not as bad
Also yea, some spells shouldn't stack with potions, rogue with invis potions and their own hide can keep them invisible for like, half the game if they wanted too.
ok i understand your arguments and think we talking a little bit 2 hard about situational scenarios. you have some right i think so too in some of your words its not terrible in some situations mage is good in some is a scared running rat for his life :p and its ok that is game about it. With my barb example i've been too scenarios too cause you can use haste kiting him or dodging but its still a chance been slashed by him i chaos mouse panic. i just mean he need some little changes some nerfs some buff not in dmg but in mechanics :p making him stick together to other classes now its look like scene where you have the 3 squad shool friends who are just a normal fine kids [barb giga chad/ fighter kid who can do everything/ ranger this super athletic one] and the one outstanding weirdo who is hidden schoolshooter XD and this one is a mage
I got to lvl 20 on like 3 characters and close to lvl 20 for the other 3.
half my games were ether winning by the skim of my teeth, by luck, or very close winning combat with someone else.
while the other half was being dead cause goblin posioned me at the begining of the match, getting a VERY bad spawn point for a class ( goblin cave has i think more then one spawn point where goblins patrol right close by AND will kill you if you don't move quickly out of there. )
or other minor things.
I would be very happy if for early access they severely nerfed exp and made lvl 20 a bit more of grind

i like how they make cleric fine to play as solo as with team cause you can bonk ppls have some offensive things and you can play typically support :DD i love when games doesnt do the support just a useless doll who only must heal you

Imo levelling is mostly to ease people into classes not as real progression. There shouldn't be a level cap tho since past lvl 15 levels do nothing. I'd love to see lvl 988 wizards flexing their playtime for example.
By ease people in I mean as to not overwhelm new players with options. Imagine being a random newb and being thrust into making a 4 passive build instead of just choosing 1 passive every 5 lvls every couple hours.
@mystic yarrow Yeah Cleric is my main actually. Pretty well represented from Dungeon and Dragons. Hell in Dun&Dra Clerics are actually DPS machines (especially Tempest Clerics).
@calm mirage I don't mind Rogue invis potting, frankly it's the only damn use for invis pots outside of meme strategies. Stacking 40 THP for approx 16~ seconds cumulatively is just a bit overtuned. Thankfully it's a lesser known strategy but as a Cleric main I've very much used it and wow its insane. Cleric is definitely a top 3 class and thankfully he has 0 ranged otherwise he'd be unparalleled 1st place.

I also mailed cleric this playtest, and It’s still my favorite class, but due to weapons available to the fighter, lack of mobility on cleric, and it says you have 25% magic resist by default, but I think it’s broken as it seems you take MORE magic damage than any other class. What is THP?

Cerlic has a few range options, though i guess they arn't Fully ranged.
holy light can do range damage to undead, and with most mobs being undead it does good damage.
and Judgement ability, ive been killed by that so many times and it also works on flying enemys.
BTW can we all agree that crouching up and down with a torch out is a friendly move/action? Ive done it and notice so many others doing it too. For real so many solo games have gone alright cause, me and the barb or fighter did the torch squat and just chilled or went seprate ways

Always a good time, though if you are looking for the best time, I reccommend quarterstaff beer smite, you won’t regret any fights against any barbs
i tried goblin caves, players are the same in both maps - there were a handful of ocassions when i met a randomer and we worked together, those were the best interactions i had in the test
that where i did it. you do get free campfires tho from hunters so not nothing.

THP = temporary hit points. Cleric can stack Protection spell (20 physical hp, 20 sec duration) and Protection potion (20 physical hp, 30 sec duration) for a +40 buff. Stacking on top of your 97 hp that's 137 hp, but with physical damage resistance from armor often reaching 45% on good gear for Cleric, you could calculate 137x1.45=198.6!! definitely messed the math up!! effective hitpoints, or more with stat buffs from Bless and gear.
@calm mirage yes realistically Judgment is your only "Ranged" option although it's just a 35 damage spear stab range slap. It's very good and very much the PVP meta imo.
Fun fact I bet you didn’t know that judgement smite and divine strike are all affected by magic damage 🙂

I did? Divine Strike adds physical damage to your weapon however so your weapon doesn't do magical from it. The active skill that adds +10 magic damage for 7 seconds is affected by magic resistances tho.
I also kinda hate that ability. Judgment is 35+ damage, outside bonking utility, shuts down Rogues and can be used to door camp. The other option adds a piddly +10 for only 7 seconds, unlikely you will get 3.5 swings worth of damage from it.

Yeah it’s almost irreplaceable. For me it was the ability to two shot barbarians through their 40 THP with my divine strike smite beer quarterstaff combo, it felt so damn good

queing into a solo game and working with a random player or two feels like the BEST thing, cause it shows that deep down, a LOT of people still want to be friendly, or work together even if the game says no.
BUT because of very limited portals and the secret exit in goblin cave only does for one person, the game PUSHES people to be hostle to others.
a lot of people don't want to kill other players, but many know they HAVE too if they want a chance to escape with their loot

Unfortunately though I started playing fighter the last day of the test and it shone on me that fighter is probably the highest skill gap class in the game due to the amount of equipment you can utilize, and also the numbers are freakin insane. But cleric is always my main if I’m not solo from now on
One time we had a squad of 3 Clerics all running Judgement. We had 1 of us lure a squad to us, close door behind and all crouch behind door and wait while spamming our Judgment hotkey. Barbarian bashed the door down and got instantly triple Judgmented, probably wasn't full health because dude practically exploded.
I don't really like beer Cleric mostly because there's so many amazing Cleric passives and beer buff doesn't actually last the 14 seconds, it's more like 7 which coupled with animation time is more like 5. Still enough for 2 bonks but with me already 3-4 buffing before fights I don't wanna add even more prebuffs to the list LOL.

Hilariously I think Cleric is better in pure melee than Fighter as Cleric can stack far more damage and defensive buffs on themselves while using Flanged Mace and Maul, two of the highest sustained and nova DPS options for both Cler/Fighter.
Cleric ofc has a massive achilles heel of absolutely no PVP ranged. 4.5m Judgement is barely more than a Spear stab, meanwhile Fighter has default access to crossbow which is insanely strong, francisca axes which are great chasing tools and with Weapon Master can use longbows which at high tiers are pretty much rail guns.
They don't have the money and it would slow down development, doing play tests let's them
A) build a loyal fanbase at launch
B) cut down on costs by not paying for servers
C) take their time to properly look at the data they collect and determine how to best develop the game
D) not be under constant pressure to fix bugs and focus more on key game mechanics
We've got more maps slated for future release and very likely will have more unique solos and trio maps, maybe even duos or quad maps. I believe the next map being added will actually be a somewhat outdoorsy woodland map.

As sweet as that would be, this playtest is mainly for the developers to garner data and player feedback morso than hype. D&Darker is still very early in development and you can expect massive parts of the game to change by the next open/closed test, let alone the games actual release. The devs need to bring the game down because they're primarily focused on active development, if they kept it up they'd need to relegate massive resources to maintenence both from the programming side and the server costs side. Considering the game will be pay to play on release, keeping it free would be very uneconomical for them; and personally I'd hate to see this game go F2P as it'd increase cheaters and put a ton of predatory microtransactions in it unnecessarily.
I've heard the next class will be Bard, which I'm very curious about as TTRPG Bards have many wildly different takes. Would love to see them do a 5e style Bard that is basically Wizard x Ranger (basically how it feels in Dungeon & Dragons 5th edition, Bards are flexible spell casters but far more capable of physical combat, in 5e they're hilariously enough the best archers in the game bar none after lvl 15)

To be honest, other dnd races WOULD be kinda cool, they already allowed elves and skeletons. Having half-orcs, half elves, and other races would be kinda cool. Though i bet short races might be a bit op in pvp sadly, or maybe even too easy to head shot XD

Let the devs do what they plan at their own pace. If you end up losing interest because "it's taking too long", then welp. It happens. Games lose people. I'm just willing to trust the dev process, especially with all these rushed games these days. It's a very difficult balance between making sure things are just right, getting the funding, and player interest.

It’s not like the game hasn’t proven itself, the devs themselves said 2mil people signed up, 100k active players at all times. This game outperformed 90% of all current steam games. We all experienced our crashes, getting stuck, people cheesing enemies. But at the end we all still kept playing, it’s not like they can address all the issues throughout time with hot fixes. I would pay for this game if it was subscription based.

Hi all. I have an optimization question. My game runs stably on the RTX 2060 Super, everything is fine, but the temperature of the video card is constantly at 71 degrees. My friend's gtx 960 video card also works stably, everything is fine and its temperature also keeps at ~ 70 degrees. Why does the game work at such temperatures with different video cards? The settings are the same. I mean shouldn't my graphics card run at a cooler temperature?

How does true damage work? Does it simply add more damage which bypass all resistances? Or does it convert a certain number of damage into true damage?

You are correct. Magical staff is better than a book if you need to fight, book is better when you want to be mobile & agile. Usually people just switch to book to cast and then back to weapons
thanks, that's what i figured. I don't see any reason to ever play with a magical staff then as it doesn't seem to offer any real benefit other than some minor weapon swapping delay if you need to get a hit in fast
Did anyone else start noticing the audio being garbage yesterday? Audio was great up until mid-day. During a match I had some nasty mic-feedback sound and complete silence. Thought my headset/audio drivers took a shit, but then my buddy started talking on discord--It was the game, complete silence until I extracted. But from then on, everything sounded wrong. Swinging axes sounded tinny and painfully loud, depending on location. Figuring out footsteps direction and distance was 50/50 depending on which room you were in.
Windows update happened the night before, but I did several matches before things got frustratingly bad (audiowise), like a switch got flipped.

Ive been reading suggestions a lot and ive seen LOTS of them that say they want some sort of PvE mode, ether seprate or together, doesn't matter, People seem to want it.
BUT every one of them is downvoted more then upvoted.
Why?
PvE mode seprate from the pvp mode would help so many people, AND help the devs make more money if more people who shun away from the pvp aspect get to play the pve mode instead.
So got to ask, Why do so many people dislike having a pve mode in the game? IF done right, it would have no impact on the pvp side of the game, unless its just people who want to hunt noobs who don't want any sort of pve mode so they can hunt without issue.

I think there is potential for more than what this game has currently. I feel like a PvE mode (aka raid mode) would be cool, but there HAS to be a cost, since PvE is easy compared to a geared barb and his cleric teammates. 500g buy in from everyone (plus a daily or weekly limit to runs) and I'd be sold, but there has to be a gear quality cap at blue, but can go up to purple if you go red portal. And easiest ai is red. Kinda like highroller.

Thats the point, keep it seprate, have the character you create ONLY do pve mode if you made it that way from the start. Makes sure that people don't farm pve maps and then go on pvp maps with the same character.
EVERYONE should read that part too, seprate from pvp mode, aka the pve character, cannot go into pvp maps/mode, allowing people to enjoy the maps, learn the curve, etc, but they gotta use a pvp character to actually go into them.

The "problem" of using pve gear in pvp is that there wasn't risk for their gear, right? However a pve only mode is arguing that pvp sweatlords running in killing noobs is a detriment to playerbase, and makes it hard for newer players to get gear to properly play against kitted folk
name one other dungeon crawler game that is first person, random loot, can play solo or with up to 3 friends, and is dnd based.

Does anyone know of a decent way to deal with skeleton archers(particularly elites) as rogue? I spent the last few days of the test trying to manage pve with the character and aside from throwing knives it seems you don't have a way to kill the bastards without risking getting hit for 30% of your hp.
The devs' vision is to make a pvpve game and that's all there is to it. Diverting resources to make a pve only mode isn't going to benefit the core playerbase, so why do it? Arguably if it was pve it would get stale after a few runs, but I digress

side step the arrows, they are programmed to lead the shot so if you switch your direction of movement when they fire you'll dodge more times than not
Is it intended that the ghost king can scream multiple times in a row? I get that its supposed to be unavoidable damage to keep you out of his pools and make sure you have your hp topped off and stuff (similar to the lich). But we had him scream like 2-3 times in a row which just led to him building up stacks on us and our cleric couldnt heal that quickly enough.

Sure, that's what I've been doing. You still get hit like 20% of the time if you want to clear them anywhere within 15 seconds, especially the elites that can triple shot. Every other class has a more consistent and faster way to deal with them.

PvE can be seprate from the pvp game mode, they don't have to mix. Allows people to have a pvp character(s) and if they lost a few times, they can relax with a pve mode and get the feel back up to go again on pvp mode witha fresh mind.
i understand where youre coming from but i also disagree with pve mode for the sake of asset and work allocation. i do believe it would change the game for me, the change would be in the gear that people are using after playing 15 games of pve then FINALLY trying pvp. if i recall the player guidebook mentioned a floor 1 that was in the works, i'd imagine that would be the closest thing to pve, where the loot is really bare bones and exp gains are tiny, which would decrease pvp incentives in that floor
but yeah, pve is a struggle at first, but imo it's part of the experience. At least for me, it was fun to figure out how to deal with the monsters and stuff

I think a lot of people here can agree that the dungeons in this game are great, the gear and loot is pretty neat, the mobs themselves can be pretty tuff, heck some people i bet have not even seen the main bosses on the second floor, let alone fought them.
PvE would be great to help people get used to the maps, the mobs, the gear, etc. PLUS be less stressful then pvp mode cause of the fact you don't have to worry about " if i open this door, will there be a ranger trap at my feet? or a rogue ready to stab me 3-4 times before i can react?"

And lets be honest, saying pve would be to easy is more of a self opinion since everyones skill level is different. Seen soo many solo games where 3-5 people die from mobs in the kill feed within the first minute or two of the game. Also the devs even said that their first game tested died from the first enemy they saw/fought.
so the game IS hard and a pve mode would still be HARD for some people.

i wouldnt even touch pve but i think if enough people wanted it, the best way to go about it would be to seperate the characters they use for pve and pvp. Meaning the gear they earn in pve is only usable on their pve character and vise versa.

it could also lead to the dev's being able to reward pvp players MORE and not just subtract from the pve players.

Very confused why they don't just continue to keep the game active rather than shutting it down after play tests. Everyone would rather play it how it is then wait months for fixes.

they just prob need to make it brackets for PVP level 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20. that way you dont get steamrolled by more experienced/geared players at that class

I mean some games have level brackets and others have ELO brackets based off of performance IE KDA/Winrate/Average Item Level of Gear Equipped. it doesn't have to get that complicated for this game. I just don't want to see new players get discouraged so early because this is a high skill cap to be successful in both PVP and PVE

its better for people to learn without pve version because this game is not about the pve. it would even hurt them more because they will get used to pve and will start panicking every time they encounter a player and dont know what to do when its not bots

my biggest gripe with having a pve mode is that a lot of the urgency within the game as is lies within the pvp aspect, where people fight for portals and loot. a pve mode might be good for learning the map, enemies, etc but the way the game plays out will be entirely different

pve mode will just allow for bot gold farmers, no loot should be extracted but u should be able to practice it maybe but not a needed feature

maybe they could add a 'new-player dungeon', kinda like Dota 2 has the new-player mode. it's available for ur first couple of hours / matches, so u can get used to the game along with other new players for ur first runs. PVE SHOULD BE ADDED AND SEPRATE FROM PVP MODE IN ALMOST EVERY WAY.
Would be great for learning the game to a ceritan amount and at least teach the players how to deal with mobs and the map. The pvp mode shouldn't be affected as people will still act nuts for the portals or stairs. Nothing would really change, people will learn ergency with or withour pve mode, so that doesn't affect pvp really.
An easy pve mode could be added by simply not letting more then one group into a map, so no changes and no addintial charges/money from the dev's making new things for new maps/mobs that pvp wouldn't see.
PVE mode would also allow handiecap people/people with conditions to enjoy the game at their own speed as well.

I agree that the boots are a bit funny, seen so many people go naked at low lvls cause army doesn't do much at low tier grade and tend to slow you down a lot.

i actually like the idea of the barbs passive with no torso equipped. looking at knights though... at least in chivalry... the knights take the most arrow damage of any class from the crossbow becuase of its stopping power and whatnot. as always feel free to correct me

Currently only the fighter gains access to most weapons but thats IF he equips one of the 8 perks.

Would be nice to see some general perks that everyone has the choice between. To be hoenst, I'd like to see every character get the use of simple weapons and leave the more niche ones locked to class. Spear/Dagger/Quarterstaff/a type of crossbow/Buckler

Imo a PVE mode would compromise the purity of the game and give players too much of a safety net by being able to practice and understand the map.
Its much more interesting and it maintains gaming integrity that everyone learns the map by risking their lives. A PVE mode has no risk associated with it and eliminates that purity the game needs.
Could always do arena duels or sparring to help people get more practice without the constant fear of losing gear

Now thats a good idea, would allow Rangers who start with no melee weapons to at least arm themselves till they get a weapon for themselves.

The only thing that should exist is a lobby where you can freely test damage on dummies. Anything more than that is too handholdy

Any Slow on a barb just wrecks them, not sure I'd go for a nerf when they are easily countered. Rogue needs a buff, is just silly when they get the drop on me and I just turn and look at them hard and they die on my fighter/cleric/barb with basic gear.
I barely played rogue- I just know they are almost always easily discounted in group melee's/situations
That is a skill issue. If 3 people cannot kill one, that is simply it. Cleric can't cast buffs with a sword in their face. Back up and regroup. Buffs don't last forever. Or harass with ranged and then enter with melee. Do you have to be taught how to engage a target

if you are fighting a cleric with buffs, its best to back off or hit from range if you can.
sometimes you can just get out skilled or unlucky and that just happens. it Sucks when it does, but it happens.
^^ always remember that clerics have buffs and heals, but they can't regenerate usages without a campfire
Not really. Nerfing stuff makes games less fun in the long run, where all classes become samey. Buff everything else, if one class is OP (to a certain degree of ridiculousness). Each class is it's own niche which is what zoomer brains do not understand. It is literally dungeons & dragons in the classic sense. The way the game works is this.
- Player Skill
- Enemy Number
- Resources drained
- Gear level
- Class counter picks
And there is always the element of luck, getting the drop on you, etc.
I will say 90% of the time I get into a fight, and hitting the enemy once is enough to demoralize them into letting themselves die, because they freak out and give up essentially

Ya i feel that and you are correct in what you are saying but it still feels unfair that barbs can 1 shot most classes with a felling axe and a headshot.

Yes. They have a very up down pattern, so strafing is literally insane in the game, and a lot of people absolutely do not do so. It is the different between being horribly maimed, and living to fight another day. Just stand in front of a goblin and swing at him as a barb and see how quick you die, why would you do the same with a player?
The "nerfs are bad buffs are good" take needs to be ripped out of the gaming community, I hate how common it has become. This is a PvPvE game, you physically cannot balance it strictly through buffs without ending up with absurd power creep. Nerfs and buffs both have their place, and each one should be assessed on its own merits rather than a general philosophy of "nerfs bad buffs good".

If you lose your gear on death and don't gain anything why do it at all? And if you do gain gear then why would players ever play PVP to risk losing their gear?

you argument makes no sense. If those very people you talked about not going to pvp played the game, they would most likely leave anyway or just not play.

Why make the game easier? The fun is how hard it is. This playtest was so much easier with the solo lobby, it’s fine where it’s at

I'm criticizing your argument because I disagree with it, I do have an open mind that's why I'm criticizing it. Solo mode has other players in it. And I said decent players. Most people can easily kill enemies once they understand their attack pattern. The only way enemies kill you is unforeseen circumstances like players. The reason I made the argument about gear is because everyone would just obtain their gear in pve then go into PVP with that same gear. I said previously that unless they rework the AI to make it way more unpredictable and lethal and numerous then it'd break the economy of the game. "some people want a more casual experience and just wanna have fun" Fair enough. But thats at the expense of all the other players who will abuse that system by using the pve mode to farm ultra rare items. You underestimate the sweatlords in this game.

i feel like the problem with adding a pve mode is not the difficulty but that the game would become a bit repetative. What i mean by that is that by removing the player factor it would greatly decrease the scenarios a match can take. For example: You see from a little window from a door a party of 3 and you (beeing alone) run back but then realize that behind you is a room filled with skeletons and the party is coming your way. That has the player consider a bunch of different senarios which without the player factor would be very predictable and controlable. (a pve mode with no loot would be pretty ok though)

I think the circle should be removed and the time in the dungeon should be doubled and the map made 1.5x bigger for a more dungeon crawly feel. It doesn't eliminate PVP but it doesn't force it as it is rn

- Quest, either from map events or from NPCs pregame?

I understand criticizing my argument, but if you are, you also have to read all the past stuff ive ready said if you want it to take full affect.
We already said to keep pvp and pve seprate from each other so not to affect pvp mode.

pve mode in a hardcore game is a joke, people need to get good and stop complaining, it'll be the same in all multiplayer games, worse in hardcore ones.

@gentle rain yeah, thinking on it no. 2 same base items that are blue could have wildly different stats, one being a good set and the other having useless stats.

the only matchmaking system in place is randomized and generally split up into the different difficulty dungeons (ie. normal and high roller)

people who say " go play something else like it " only can say tarkov which aside from the pvp part, plays nothing like this game.
Dark and darker is the cloest dnd game ive ever seen come out, and ill be dam'd if i give up hope on a 5 squad pve mode where me and the boys can dungeon crawl, or me anda few friends can go pvp mode.

another point is if someone gets lucky and finds purple gear in a "beginner" dungeon and just rolls everyone

They have said that they will (plan to) go early access in april so while the release may be Q4 youll get to play again quite soon

fair enough. You think that having an option for new players to learn the ropes without being bullied by veterans is definitely good and healthy for the game so more people can have fun.
I personally just disagree. I do think PVP is too forced right now and I think the extra players added to the dungeon was bad because running into fights was exhausting. I do want PVE to play a bigger roll. However I even though I'm not a very good player don't want the game to cater toward new or casual players. The game is extremely cruel and harsh and unforgiving. that's the beauty in it. To learn is to make sacrifices and to go through a fair bit of pain along the way in the game. Last night I instantly died solo twice and lost all my gear. Made me upset but that's the game.
I think your case is fair and there is definitely a minority demographic for it, but I think it goes against the policy of the game.

I want a PVE mode. But I also realize that the more time your in game the learning curve goes down. The less time you have in game the less you can memorize the maps, mobs, timing, levels and so on.
It is mentioned in a video with the CEO so, sorta confirmed but I wouldnt expect it on april 1st.
i think pve mode is fine, gives more options for people to enjoy the game the way they want, nothing wrong with that

This, maybe i was to harsh to jump to pve instantly, because your words have touched me. If the pvp maps had less people, and longer time to explore, pve wouldn't be needed, because it wouldn't feel as rushed or purely skilled based. People could sneak on by and gather loot, so they could be more prepaired next game and be really ready for pvp.
id still love to see a pve mode of some kind in the future, but i do like your ideas more then simply deviding the player base right away

So, I remember reading in the fopdoodles only section that the game technically starts on the second level. For all i know that idea could get cut from the game. But it would probably mean that an easier level will be implemented in on actual release.
I feel like having an offline mode system like tarkov would be handy for everyone tho. In order to try out gear and stuff

@woven shoal true the rp plays an huge part for the game keep it simple but good we dont need that much artifice but some fantasy will be intresting like skinned weapon or character skin they are already on a nice way with races and stuff
