Apparently the devs were straight up just not expecting so many players to actually fight the bots, a good 70% of the playerbase was helping eradicate the bots

That's what I was repeatedly muttering to myself while lying prone for ~3 minutes next to a S.E.A.F. artillery emplacement engulfed in flames, waiting for the fire to die down so I can have a four-second interaction with the terminal to complete the objective.
holy crap the fire tornado spawned on the extraction platform as we were about to leave
we lost like 6 reinforces because it kept dropping the entire squad into fire tornados
the real hell is trying to evac civilians and they just run into them
Civilians are great. It gives the bugs something to chase while you recover
not when you lose requisition when they run into the fire
i mean it's not that much in the grand scheme of things but still
I ran a defense evacuation mission once where my team lost ~21 civilians to a fire tornado that had ignited the ground right in front of the exit.
We lost over 500 requisition points, but it was absolutely hilarious, so I would argue that the mission was a net positive.

I am rather intrigued by the implications of the Automatons having a sizable force beyond the galactic rim. It's clear that the Automatons are related to the Cyborgs, who lost their sovereignty ~100 years ago, so I am very curious as to how the Automatons managed to grow widespread enough to have an extragalactic presence.

If we successfully defend a planet higher in a chain of supply lines, does that halt any invasion farther down the chain? I don't actually know how that works.
For either case, if we take a look at the supply lines:
If defending a planet higher in the chain does help us with other planets lower in the chain, then Menkent isn't a bad choice.
If it doesn't, then we should probably focus on Vernen Wells, as it will give us a jumping-off point to retake the other planets.
Tip for anyone needing samples
Do the civilian evacuation missions on defend planets (the 15 min ones) and instead of doing the objective just run and collect samples until the emergency evacuation auto calls in
Maps are smaller and resources are bundled closer so its easier and faster to gather them.
Would that not hinder the war effort? I thought that a failed mission sets back the liberation percentage of a planet by a certain amount.
I could be misinterpreting how the war mechanics work, though, so if that is the case then this sounds like a good strategy.
Not sure. But this is more about finishing your ship upgrades than the war effort.
Plus. The way those missions is work. Enemies will spawn on only one designated player. Meaning if you got a group. They can go around doing the mission or getting samples while you get chased

That's rather clever, actually. I wasn't aware that those missions worked that way.

they only call in reinforcements so often, and if one player triggers them on the other side of the map, they cant bother everyone else
localisation confusion booster increases the time between those calls too, making enemies spawn less often
Oh, my brain just processed that we were talking about those evacuation missions where you have to actually travel to the site on foot, and the spawns work the same way as every other mission. I was thinking of the scientist evacuation missions, where reinforcements continuously spawn. My mistake.
Would be fun to have a supersoldier serum buff. With loads of side/negative effects too but for a brief moment you are a god

The higher difficulties really require everyone to be able to stay alive and be able to do things independently without a team. It ties into the thing where there can only be one reinforcement going at a time, so one person might be dealing with hell while everyone else is able to cruise through objectives.

im not really sure how we can beat back the automatons, theyre coming down HARD on the planets we're trying to defend, and we still need to liberate terminid planets, but if we direct more support there we risk losing more planets on the opposite side. its a hard situation we're faced with, even harder than taking out the automatons previously, but if we plan carefully slowly but surely we'll win
The Termicide should keep them contained to the sectors they are currently in. The people who only fight bugs are the new Creekers.
The bugs are pretty much contained. The robots are the bigger concern
id say its impossible for us to beat back the current invasion
but we will win over time

They definitely could be part of it. There really isn't a lot of reasons to focus on sets or specific capes and stuff if you just have the armor and a helmet that matches well enough.
I considered set bonuses for a second, but I've changed my mind on that already. It defeats the purpose of customization if you had to wear full sets to get better stats.

that way you could have les stims but better ones, and likewise you could wear the armour to get more, but regular stims, and wear both to max boost them

Ooh, medical helmets, what if you had a better way to track where team mates are getting injured? IE: You can see right away if someone's leg or arm is broken, so you can go and stim them if they dont have or want to waste a stim without asking

Chargers and bile titans are really the only major concerns with bugs.
Everything else usually goes down in a few slugger rounds or gatling turret
You say that, but the horde can be pretty hard to deal with, especially when it's 85% hunters assholes and two bile spewrs that situate themselves in the worst possible spot every time

Tbf the book Federation each soldier is more powerful than a Helldiver.

Orb isn't enough for those. I haven't fought them, but have heard that it does take a few heavy weapons to put them down.

what happens if a planet gets surrounded
Nothing if it is a defense planet, the enemy continues their offense and we can still lose the planet. If it is a planet being liberated, we get cut off and can no longer deploy on operations to that planet.

The Eruptor in the new warbond is really good. It can take out a concentrated group of small bugs with a single shot. It can also destroy bug holes with a single shot

shoot my patriot with a missile, melee me away from a drop pod then take the stuff in the pod, people have called air strikes right on top of the group, stuff like that

Taking out the rotary guns on the face make it a lot easier to engage. Three AMR shots will neutralize them. Just beware of the cannon.

we don’t need any more mines after the millions of unnecessary teamkills they’ve already caused 
AT mines seems helpful for defense missions against tank bots and chargers and bile titans
The airburst seems help ful in similar format plus gunships and flyers
its honestly a bit of a tossup

but flyers right now are a fucking nightmare so probably best go for that

the problem with airburst, if it is anti air, is that if you end up on a map with no fliers you've wasted a slot

also AP mines have the same problem, best used on armoured targets but thats only if the armoured target walks over the mines

But yeah, usually I bring both the airstrike and the pods, unless my kit is lacking in solutions to either hordes or heavy enemies
I stopped bringing the 500k and I bring the pods now against bots
I usually bring railcannon or laser fir dealing with big targets

I did a few runs with the heavy machinegun and it's suprisingly good against hulks close range

the quazar was too useful compared to the eat and recoiless
I actually thought the quasar was pretty fairly balanced. It's not something you want to rely on, but it's a rechargable cannon. The downside of it is the fact that it's rather unreliable for shooting smaller targets that require a good heavy hit, like the heavy devastators. And it's not really as reliable to use as the EAT and Recoilless due the charge when it's ready to fire.

the eat and recoilless work fine, and exactly as intended
but the quazar is an unlimited ammo rocket launcher with no projectile arc or backpack
I always take EAT regardless if I take a recoilless or quasar, due to it helping the team as a whole.

having a shield, rover, supply pack or jetpack is just worth so much more than the autocannon or recoilless in my opinion
Like, the Quasar, as it was, was kind of a shitty weapon. It takes too long to fire and can't be immediately refired after, if you miss. But it had massive advantages over other similar anti tank weapons because it didn't take up your backpack slot and (in a sense) autoreloaded
thats why i considered it to be too strong
I used to agree with that, but after getting into more fights with hulks, I love carrying around AC and Recoilless. And part of why I feel the quasar can't measure up well in comparison.
But this isn't a problem with the gun itself, but the fact that losing that backpack slot to ammo makes these other weapons kind of suck
eats require a small amount of forward planning and recoilless required your backpack
quazar requires you to stay on target, and if you scre up, you maintain full mobility and can switch to another weapon to keep shooting other targets
eats require you to stop and call new ones in, or find your stash
recoilless requires you to stop and reload, or have an ally with a backpack reload
i still like recoilless mind
its satisfying to fire
As I see it, quasar is better in bugs scenarios, even with 5 seconds longer cooldown
The quasar does a lot of things for free, but the other AT weapons does it faster and more efficiently. Taking out big fuck-off objectives at long range for example (shrieker nests and spore spewers)
quazar is great on the bot dropships
Vs bots it happens too often that I get shot during charge time and the shot goes fuck knows where
oh quazar is best at spore and shreiker, it has unlimited range and no bullet drop
I would rather eats or autocannon vs bots
The AC is essential against those big tower obj's. Two shots for each. (Especially when they spawn like right next to each other in the shrieker nests)

its RoF is too slow and lock on too unreliable
Rate on fire is fine given what it's meant to do
I wanted to try it out on saturday, couls not get any lock-ons for the life of me (that mattered). It locks on to small targets like the striders very easily, but you usually aren't using the spear on walker striders.

also the reload time is fine, you usually can get the thing 75% reloaded by the time your missile hits the target if you start the reload as soon as you fire
If they did fix the lock on I would definitely bring it in some missions
I also discovered that you can hold down the fire button and it'll fire as soon as it has lock, so you don't have to worry about the lock going on and off like it does
if the lockon was reliable i'd be using it way more, hard agree
especially vs bots
imo I think a big problem with it vs bots is that it'll try to lock onto striders
I wish the lock-on worked on the bugs, because if it did, I was never able to get one
Bile titans are massive, great for a spear to lock onto, but that's a nope
I must say tho, since I started using the rocket pods, the heavy target problem has been largely solved
the thing with the spear is that it only locks onto vehicle flavored enemies
I was sleeping so hard on that stratagem

and for bugs, I think that's only chargers, stalkers and bile titans atm

There is also the dudes that keep attacking you if you destroy the heads

I've tried to use the spear against all three- and stalkers? Excuse me? 
But the lock-on is so bugged out, you can't use it on any of those enemies. Besides I guess the charger.

I wish they'd fix the crashing problem that people are having. I'm not the one crashing mind you, but I only play with friends and the game does not want any of them to play 
they've fixed a lot of those today
They've had a lot of patch notes that says that they fixed that issue, but it doesn't seem to work every time. I just hope this is the one that fixes those key ones.
One of my friends is getting ever more frustrated with the game because of that, and it makes me both pissed off and sad. It sucks when someone isn't enjoying the game as much as you, and the fact that it's entirely out of their control.

Okay so
This is just my opinion, and that opinion was formed before the recent balancing
All the warbonds have good weapons in them, and are worth using, but the sickle is the best all round assault rifle. It recently got nerfed, so don't take it to hot planets, but it's still well worth it.
The revolver is fun, and a great medium armour penetrative sidearm, and the soeedloader buff helps considerably, but the (arguably) best side arm is the grenade pistol. Because its a grenade pistol.
The only booster that's worth talking about in the warnonds is the localisation one, because that one means less enemies spawning, the others are too underwhelming or situational to be worth using over the base warbonds boosters
None of the packs are bad, they all have good, fun weapons to use that will shake up your playstyle and give you more options. I'd probably recommend the sickle, the arc shotgun in that pack got a significant boost making it way better now too, and it's the only way to get electricity resistant armour, which is great if someone else is using electricity weapons

if you're careful with the heat, you never have to change the ICE

yeah, I know it's really good, it's just that I don't like the look of it I guess. the Blitzer looks and sounds fun though. and the arc resistant armour means I could run tesla towers for fun and not instantly die

The adjudicator is still meh though
It's a better medium armour penetrative assault rifle than the liberator one though

The studio needs to make it clear what it thinks about this and whether or not they agree with this move months after the fact. Sony will lose money for sure if it continues, but that studio might get its legs cut out and end up on the pile of dead devs, like their friends that were making KSP2.
This also makes it harder for folks on XBL to maybe get in one day. Sony already does not like playing with those folks on their games and fights to prevent it.
This came right as they're about to release that new Warbond too, which generally brings people back, along with a semi-serious MO.

The friend system worked for me for about a week and then failed. I had to basically unprivate my steam account to make it work again.
The other fun kicker are regions that the game was sold in (like Russia for example) that PSN accounts for banned for. They're SOL in about a month.
