the skeleons are pretty easy to parry
True!
this level sucks
Yeah, they all do

i read a message and it said treasure and then i rolled behind the wall and a fireball killed me
mad
NOOOOOOO THE WHEELS
The wheels suck
The best strategy for them is to step aside and wait for them to run into walls then slam them
No need to roll or block, just move
Pinwheel is balanced to be beatable as soon as you start the game, assuming you can get there
Also congrats on Ornstein and Smaugh
why 😭
So you can grab the kindling rite early
And power up the bonfires to 20 estus right away
Btw now you can do that, by resting at a bonfire while human and burning 3 more humanity
And it goes from 5 estus when you rest there, to 20
Now that you can warp around, you can explore order areas much more freely btw
3 humanity
It becomes much less of a hassle to check stuff around for missing stuff
Oh, you mean the crystal lizards?
these
Oh, these are stones you can leave on the ground
shortcut right back to your bonfire, without your souls or humanity.
do the wheel skeletons do the fucking Akira slide
Yes
what is this skull lantern
It lights up
oooh you got the skull lantern
But you have to hold it in one hand
it makes light, which is useful for that area next to the pinwheel fight because that area is dark and there are meanies in the dark
(It also opens some invisible walls but don't worry about it)
There's a spell that lights up for you if you have some blue dex
yeah it's not lighting up for me
im in like the darkest area ive ever seen
Oh then I don't know
you need to hold the lantern in one of your hands and then use that hand like it's active (like holding up a weapon or shield IIRC) and then it should light up
Press the guard button like it's a shield
i found a lady
OH
ok
i had it in my weapon hand
oh these must be the hollows that were escorting the lady
wait are these the guys from Firelink
what do the blue lights on the wall mean
also why am i next to hell
The blue lights are the way you are supposed to go IIRC
ah
well i defeated the two guys
i hope they dont respawn
they were annoying to fight in the dark
do i ever have to go back to Gwynevere
☹️
(There's more story there but it's optional)
is there a canon version of events or no
Yes, but only for endings
hmm im not quite sure where to go
Take it slow and explore. You should be able to do stuff in older areas much more easily now
You already went through the hyperbolic time chamber
The area before Nito
With the little skeletons
It's the best humanity farming spot in the game
Each little skeleton has like a 1% chance to drop a humanity
To sum up where you are at, you managed to get through the gauntlet, reach Anor Londo and pass the last trial to meet with the Princess
You are now considered the chosen undead.
There she asks you to recover the shards of her father Lord Soul, that he give to his closest allies, and the Lord Souls of other two people
Nito is one of those people
You need to recover these souls to offer them to the lord vessel, to link the flame like Gwyn did before you, and suceed him.
That's the story at any rate.
Yeah go ahead and kill nito
what the hell how is this red spike attck fair
You can time the dodge to the scream iirc
any Nito tips
Been too long ago to give useful tips
I think the spike can kill his minions so if you learn to dodge it, it can help you
Correct. The spikes kill his dudes
You just have to learn how to dodge the spike and the big blast and the rest is easy
i wonder if skeletons feel any pain
i mean probably not right they dont have nerves
If they're resurrected by magic there's nothing in the rulebook that says a skeleton can't feel pain magically
i guess a divine weapon probably hurts
If you haven't already noticed, only skeletons whose eyes glow come back
For the rest you don't need a divine weapon
oh
A divine weapon still helps because it deals more damage but if you're more comfortable with your other weapon you can use that
One of the most important principles in this game is that avoiding damage is more important than dealing damage
this boss is dumb
I was playing Dark Souls earlier and oh my god i hate the fucking gargoyles at the first bell of awakening
The gargoyles want a lot of damage fast
My sword does a lot of damage to them but i have trouble dodging their attacks
Try humanity
dumbass firesage demon
More like dumptruck ass firesage demon
this stupid aoe attack keeps fucking me up
the centipede demon was so easy lmao
especially with Solaire
is Solaire immune to lava or something ,
yeah, the last few zones were verry rushed and you can feel it unfortunatly
Do you want spoilers on the topic? The solution is pretty obscure
what the fuck is this boss fight
yeah
Okay, I'm going to assume you've seen him really sad in the lava area and stopped
Go back to where you rang the second bell of awakening, right after the quelaag's boss arena
woops
yeah i already walked all the way to Bed of Chaos
and then i died and Solaire wasn't there anymore
oh well
I'm pretty sure that locks Solaire's quest into the bad state, but just in case
||pass by the lever you use to ring the bell of awakening, and go down the stairs. In that room, there's a secret wall. Open it, and join the covenant inside. Once you join it, they will open a shortcut to Lost Izalith for you. Take that shortcut and kill the red-eyed chaos bug you find on the way to save Solaire||
The worst fight in dark souls
I don't even ironically like it, it just sucks
i joined the covenant but i cant find the shortcut
The shortcut is just before Demon Firesage
It's the empty corridor that ends with a wall
donate humanity ?
yes
what !!!!!!!
It's silly
hrm
You could just let Solaire die this time and do it the next time
You can also cheese it with poison mist
yeah basically there's a bug inside with glowing eyes, and you need to kill that bug in order to guarantee that Solaire survives a future part of the game. There are ways to cheese it by using spells that go through the door and getting lucky, but honestly just farm the rats for 30 humanity (note that their drop rate goes up if you have up to 10 humanity in your soft humanity slot, so use the first ones you pick up)
any Bed of Chaos tips so i dont have to walk all the way back there again
Yes
Google the strategy where you throw two fire bombs at an exact angle to win
Other than that, just be careful while you run because the floor can fall
There is no strategy, just bullshit swinging branches that will knock you in the chasm with no predictibility because that boss is bullshit
At least it checkpoints your progress
Also, for some lore, since it's the only good thing for the Bed of Chaos
Basically you know that the flame is dying and you have to link the flame to keep the age of God going right?
~~let the fire burn out so the age of man can begin
~~
i think so yeah
Basically it's happening for a while, and a bunch of God tried to stop it.
The Witch of Izalith was one of the 4 lords that recieved a Lord Soul from the primordial flame, her was the Lord soul of Life IIRC.
So as the flame was going out, her idea was to try to use her Lord Soul to create a new Primordial Flame
So she gathered her sisters and tried that.
What happened is that they fucked up, everything exploded and a corrupt version of the flame of life was created instead, and it's where all of the Demons in the game come from
That's the Bed of Chaos

is the firekeeper spider lady Queelag's sister ?
Same as the other lady spider you are in a covenant witch
Yes
She kills intruders, and take their humanity to bring to her sister because it eases her suffering
In fact, she is so badly injuried that she thinks you are her. as she can't see
oh.....
Which is why you should farm 30 humanities
Queelag / Queelana is so sad
it is true
i dont want to fight the Bed of Chaos right now anyway
farm the rats, give lots of humanity to Queelana, go save Solaire
Look up where the hidden bonfire behind the illusory wall is, if you haven't found it
i walked up to them, tried to hit them, missed, they hit me, died instantly
oh yeah hidden bonfire makes it shorter, and IIRC so does the Solaire-saving path (you just have to run past a titanite demon)
Queelag isn't even an optional boss, if she was I'd just skip her most playthroughs
bed of chaos is super bullshit and also you might need spoilers to understand how to fight it
if you give the fair lady like 80-90 humanity she starts feeling slightly better, though there is little other reward for doing so
I believe the demon ruins first bonfire is your closest
Also smh you can just use poison mist to kill the bug through the wall, you don't need to make cap kill 300 rats
It's 30
30 rats? Bet
30 humanity but not a great drop rate
yeah, 30 gets you most things, but she feels better at 80-90
with the serpent ring and 10 soft humanity it'll come in pretty fast
i double checked to confirm, you get no other reward for doing so
but my consciousness will feel better
How do you get to understand her again?
old witches ring
FWIW if you want to get up to 80 humanity, it's better to farm the humanity sprites in the DLC
Omg I forgot cap is gonna get to play the DLC...
i thought she just couldnt talk cause shes a firekeeper
Firekeepers can talk, the one at the beginning of the game can't because she got her tongue cut off
her conversations are... depressing

should i get this crystal straight sword
update: i have done a bunch of research and the 80 humanity speech option might be cut content? i always just presumed since grinding out 80 humanity is unreasonable
"transient curse: allows engagement with ghosts"
so if i buy this i can marry a ghost ????
No I am sure I did it once
Unless I'm mandelaing effect myself
I think there is uncut content related to her, but I am also pretty sure there is dialogue about her feeling a lil bit better
Transient curse allows you to harm ghosts
ghosts are ethereal and can only be hit with certain type of weapons, when you are cursed (half HP)
Or while being under a transient curse
Is it more than 1 weapon that can hurt them?
transient curses are by far the most convenient method
Oh actually I think there's 2 I'm aware of
Oh you are right, for some reason I thought there was a weapon upgrade path that allowed you to hit ghosts but I was misremembering
But yeah there are a couple of weapons that can hit ghosts naturally
i've found a few more places listing it as cut content,
that means you gotta go get the old witches ring and 80 humanity, for the sake of correcting a wiki, possibly
it's not impossible I did actually incept the thing in my brain
I heard if you do 90 humanity you unlock Luigi
Wikidot is the only reliable DS1 wiki as far as I'm aware
Yeah wikidot is the best for DS1
ive used Wikidot it's good
is this true
No one would ever lie to me, and I would never lie to you
the problem is that the wikidot was also bad until illusary wall went round and started mass updating most the pages
wikidot lists a mix of both other wikis!
soes the giant rat drop humanity
Yeah I think so
how do i get back to him
I don't think he respawns
If you haven't killed him before, take a warp, and you'll find him in the butcher's hole in the depths
guys im so bored of killing rats already
yeah i got him
Just let him die, man
really a matter of what you think is worth your time in the game
my wife saves Solaire every time, and sends Onion Man home too. Also yeets Lautrec off the edge before he has a chance to turn. And the dude who hates clerics whose name I forget who tries to dump you off the bridge, she's just like "hi" whack
you play DS and you think killing Patches is the most fucked up thing?
Yes he is a gem and a treasure
I will be leaving a 1 star review for your gem and treasure shop
Patches? More like Beeeeyatches. And he can go bananas ... on the bottom of this canyoooooooon!
she kills Patches ????? wtf ????????
Also he is the only NPC in the game that casually squats
"It's a very cynical and amoral world, and there isn't really much opportunity for heroism But I figure the least I can morally do is protect the good and innocent and kill the professional murderers."
This is the best reason not to kill someone ever
Patches your game to make blighttown bigger
There's another cheese where you don't talk to Solaire in Anor Londo (he stays at the bonfire there until you talk to him) and progress through the game to Lost Izalith and kill the bug(and unlock the shortcut) from that end but that means you don't talk to Solaire and can't use him for the centipede boss :^(.
theres a centipede boss???
the second rendition of the ceaseless discharge I think?
There's a bit more to it than you might expect.
Song used - Unnamed Character Creation music - Demon's Souls OST
The answer is whoever finishes their animation first but ornstein wins is the default
that said, if you're trying to kill one of them, there's no need to deal damage to the other because they'll get a full heal anyway
Good to know. If i ever get to them
in general, you want to do O&S with coop helpers if you're at all able, and basically the game host should signal "kill this guy" and then one coop helper's job is just to distract the other guy while the other 2 beat down the one they want dead. Like you know your coop helper is really good if you've got one guy 90% down and the other hasn't been touched, and then after the mid-fight cutscene, your ally starts unloading with like big pyromancy or smth
i love how when im struggling with a boss im like "miyazaki must pay for his crimes" but then when i beat it im like "another masterpiece of gameplay by Fromsoft"
Behold, a new and improved version with even more math than last time!
Want to see me do this in Dark Souls 3? Look here: Dark Souls 3 with Mathematically Optimized Damage | Weapons Version
https://youtu.be/2_LkNvxCBHI
It's a run where you beat bosses with the highest DPS possible.
(major spoilers)
stray demon is kicking my ass
You can come back for him later if you're stuck
no
i want the really good thing
im stuck on all the other paths anyways
GOTEM
all he dropped was a titanite slab
Nice
A titanite slab is extremely valuable
It's your capstone weapon upgrade
There's only a few of them in the world and a very tiny chance of dropping one from a hard enemy
It makes any weapon amazing
do i give it to andre
It's what you need to upgrade your weapon to +15
should i keep all these sunlight medals
I don't think they really matter in your case. They're what you use to get rewards in the warriors of sunlight covenant, but that's more of a co-op and faith build thing
so shpuld i give this slab to andre
It's only used to upgrade your weapon from +14 to +15
you don't have the item you need to do that yet
Just keep exploring new areas, I'd tell you if you missed it
what on earth am i supposed to do against this guy
wait was that one of those boss fights you're supposed to lose
If they did lock you up after, yes
You know there is an alternative cutscene if you do the DLC 1st?
Sif still dies tho
You could already do the DLC if you want BTW, but you are definitely gonna need directions to find it
speaking of, the dlc is 1 of 2 zones you probably wont find, especially playing offline, so if you wanna do that you'll prob need to look... i took to long typing this

Ngl just starting the dlc is one of the most unintuitive secrets in the game
how do you get to it
You'll want to just look it up
You probably already got the pendant
how are you supposed to figure this out
Idk but someone did
It's not hard to find the pendant, but it's really odd to explore around the hydra after leaving and coming back. That's just luck
when the dlc released it was released with a bunch of hints/instructions, and there is enough info in the base game to intuit it
people predicted where the entrance would be like 2 months before it released, the only real "?" in the chain is the blue golem, but its really out of place if you revist the area
You'd think they'd include hints for the PTDE and remastered versions, but ig not
Thanks bandai namco
2s and 3s DLC are easier to intuit.
I still had to look up how to find the iron king and sunken king DLCs 🥲
its always the frozen flower i miss, iron king i get because i enjoy jumping down to the funny lizards, and the sunken king one i usually end up at the door accidentally and remember
Some steps are more obvious than others, for example the fact that you have to bring the pendant to her is pretty damn obvious
Given that it's her damn pendant by the description
where is this blue golem
in the library, on the run up to the elevator
starting from the bonfire after the bull
or is it after the elevator, its early after that bonfire
I'm surprised you don't already have the pendant
I think the golem either doesn't appear, or doesn't drop it, until you talk with Dusk
You're right, I forgor
Strange ass game
Broken Pendant
@fathom turret Yes he has lots of heads
yes
the fight can be fine, but you need good range options, any pure melee build is painful for it
you need to reload the area at least once, and exiting/reloading is the quickest way to do that
The hydra is one of the most fun fights in the game for me
I pack a fast lightning weapon, then run around and get it to jump me. It misses because I killed the bodyguard guy in the forest and put his ninja ring on. I slash slash slash and repeat for the next head
ok i found the pendant
Do you have the lightning resist ring?
You probably won't need it, but it might help
It can be a very tricky boss
It's a little harder than some of the fights that come after it, making it a difficulty gate to the DLC
welcome to souls DLC
I love the "fuck you" Bloodborne's DLC gives you
sanctuary guardian down 😎
oh that stupid cat thing at the start of oolacile?
I think of the thing at the start of oolacile as a stupid cat thing even though it's more complex than that

That's really not an easy boss considering you haven't found the very large ember yet
he had a pretty easy pattern to figure out tbh
I think I first tried Guardian my first playthrough but I was super overgeared.
Mfw i still haven't beaten the bell gargoyles😔

Soon.
these ghosts are no joke
Did you finish the archives?
Oh, find the lever at the end and open the flood gates to drain it
But first
You want to pay 20k souls to get the key from Andre that opens the forest gate
i found a tower with a lever and a elevator, and then when i go past that i see the big door in Valley of the Drakes
oh yeah i did that already too
Excellent!
After you drain the water go inside from the valley of the drakes and explore
There's a building that leads to the boss somewhere
i hate these fucking ghosts
Super true
That's why I said to come in from the valley of drakes
The ghosts are mostly around in the upper level
The lower level is where you want to be
how do i drain the water
There's a lever somewhere. I don't remember
I think at some point, you enter a building
And in the building there is a ladder to the top the building
Up there you meet a weirdo
he does remove curse if you ever need it removed so it's good to remember he exists
From the roof you can go to ramparts on top of the wall IIRC, and in one of the towers there is the mechanism to drain the water
I give a good 60% confidence in what I just said
Yeah something like that
i hate this place
That's cool
Oh the blob guy
Fuck the blob guy
As a sidenote, the darkwraiths (dudes with the skull mask and bone armor) drop titanite slabs very very rarely
In case you want to upgrade a bunch of stuff to +15
Brave Adventurer, whether you are coming back to the Lands Between or beginning your search for the Great Runes, bear witness, for Elden Ring's journey has come so far.

Man, this is so fascinating
I was really curious what they could even say in a 4 minutes recap video
It's a good hype video but I feel like it doesn't really help anyone understand anything
Which it's fine, like, it's way too fucking convoluted to explain in 4 minutes
does Elden Ring have a lore bible
I don't think they released external documentation, no
I might be wrong tho
But I never seen it referenced which probably means it's not out
Yeah I mean, almost every game has that
true
Even one with a pretty simple story usually have a design document that includes the story
i just like asking silly questions
I hope we never see it, if it exists
I just pre ordered Shadow of the Erdtree
George wrote the "history" that plays hundreds or thousands of years before the events of the game
Most of the lore is found in item descriptions
Otherwise it'll be found on various youtube explaining channels :X
I beat Mogh for the second time
Mogh moment
Theres only one boss i need to beat for an achievement left and its dragon lord placidusax
I got it down to two hits then i fucking died
That guy seems so hard
He is very hard
I probably would've beaten him if i healed instead of trying to finish him off
Greed
hmm
i foudn a fog wall but it's just a tower with stairs that lead to nowhere
oh !!!
i had to put on the ring Sif dropped
this is so cool
but hard 😵💫
Yeah the four* kings are pretty unique
The difficulty is in part that in the black void you fight them, it's kind of hard to judge distance
Tip: This fight is a damage race
i havent tried again since last night and i need to organize my room today so i'll try again later
im assuming these guys will give me one of the Lord soul frgments right
Yep
pro tip: if you reduce their health to 0 before they reduce your health to 0, you win the fight
This is true
:kramerthatstrue:

are the other lords uhhh
oh i already got one
cause of Seath
and then Bed of Chaos probably drops one right
how many are there
He's so cool
i should go to andre i have the very large ember
Yeah that sounds like a good decision
It's Japan so four is a good bet when it comes to bosses
isn't that the scary number in japan
cause it sounds like death in Japanese or something ?
As a sidenote, once you unlock the final boss, you might want to hold on until you did everything you want to do in the game
Since as soon as you kill him, it puts you in NG+
are there multiple endings
two
is there a binary good and bad or sucks or sucks less
The four heavenly beasts, the elite four
Four is just an evocative number of bosses there
ah
There are competing narratives in the game, depending who do you think is lying, or if you belive anyone is even telling the truth, they both might be good endings, or both bad endings
are there any good Dark Souls lore ytbers
Vaati Vidya
writes that down
oooooh
Meet upside down snake
kinda spooky
the fuck ....?
i looped
there's nothing here so i guess i'll leave
how close ?
I don't remember
If you took the four kings down you can take nito down
Just upgrade your weapon to +15
yeah it is +15
Then godspeed
Oh yeah
If you kill the skeletons with a divine weapon they don't come back
You can also do the stealth bow strategy ||https://youtu.be/RigHvtc49fY?t=876||
Gravelord Nito Made Easy! | Bow Only Dark Souls Remastered Episode 16
Today I learned there was a limit on the title length. I wanted to put Large Divine Ember, and Covetous Silver Serpent Ring in the title too, but it didn't even close to fit.
Time Stamps:
Look! It's Lost Izalith - 0:00
Super Undead Bros - 1:15
Large Divine Ember Cheese - 5:39...
You use two rings that hide you, and then cheese the boss from afar
If you execute the strategy correctly, Nito gets stuck behind his minions who won't chase you because they don't see you
True

Hell yeah
Now that you have beaten all four, it's time to either do the DLC or finish the game
no i havent done Bed of Chaos yet
im not excited for him
She's fine
i think i'll do that then do the dlc then finish the game
Just get the bonfire nearest the boss
oh there's a bonfire closer to her ?
ok good cause i thought the run back was very obnoxious
through all the lava
I don't recall how close it is
There's one hidden in the lava, and there might be one even closer
the hidden bonfire is the shortest distance, but running past the titanite demon on the bridge may be more convenient
Kill the titanite demon until you get a catchpole
i didn't even know there was titanite demon tbh
i figured out how to hurt the Bed of Chaos i think but then fell down a pit
I don't think I have enough
s for bed of chaos
is there a phase after i run to the other orb
cause there's a orb on the right and then one on the left
Technically yeah
so i assume i have to hit both of those
ok
just want to be somewhat prepared
this boss kind of sucks huh
I like the music though. Reminds me a little of Bela Bartok
i havent been playing with sound
In DS1? You haven't fought him yet
oooh intrigue
IM SORRY
i like to watch youtube or tv when i game
it's why i dont really play super story based games
Gotta hear the boss songs tho. They're very nice
i'll listen to them
there was one i really liked
it went oo oo ooooOooOo
i cant remember what boss it was
maybe it was Ornstein and Smough
let me check
Well their song is very good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHk2xhHPouM OH BOY. Popcorn shall intensify.

NO WHY IS SIF'S SONG SO FUCKING SAD
How are you so based?
Oh wait Artorias is good
(this is just a comedy animated skit, why am I so hype for this
)
the final boss is also fun
Flitter i thought you only played Dark Souls for the bosses why do you say they all suck
Well I really, really, really like Dark Souls 3
(and 2)
So when I compare Dark Souls 1's bosses to that, I just find them lacking
He's my favorite
3 kinda just has the best bosses out of the dark souls games imo
It's a big strength
DS3 has some bosses that are worse than some DS1 bosses but I like it because I am faster in that game
Elden Ring has lots of really hype bosses
yeah i'd think so since it's openworld
I mean it technically is a boss, it's just not supposed to be a hype one
If it plays good boss music I'm for it
is Elden Ring's map open to you right from the start after the tutorial or do you gradually unlock
Gradually unlock
No but you can go to a lot of stuff
There's several levels of bosses. The story bosses are "Legends", non story bosses are... "enemies"? I think when you beat them it's "LEGEND FELLED" and "ENEMY FELLED" and so on
There's 10-ish legends, and like 150+ "bosses"
The Tree Sentinel is the first 'big' one you encounter. There kindof one previously but it doesn't quite count imo
Ah, "Foe vanquished"
Your not giving the soldier of godrick enough credit
He doesn't deserve any 😛
Wow this took a while and a lot of effort. I'm proud of this work and I hope you guys enjoy it as a Christmas present from me!

I always thought Godfrey was fitting as All Might ever since my MHA Ending parody so that is how this project began lol.
This animation is trac...

In ER you can go to a surprisingly amount of places right away if you know where to go, same as in DS1
You just don't have the information at the start of the game
DS1 is a bit better for that because that information is easier to retain, since it's easier to remember a shortcut in a normal map than in an open world map
correct
Ash Lake made me weirdly emotional
idk why
wow
it's been a long time since a video game made me cry
It's supposed to be kind of a sad/significant area. The music adds a lot
Visually speaking is so cool
And there's a fucking flying hydra
It's a well hidden area, you descend the inside of a hollow stone tree, and when you get out it's like you get a sneak peak at how this world really is on a macro, geological level.
All the surface being essentially held up but these massive stone trees.
It's just insanely cool.
It being hidden makes you feel like you just uncovered something important too.
oh cool
so i think the only things i have to do rn are the dlc then i can fight Gwyn
i fought Gwyn a little bit yesterday and he seems pretty tough
i dont want to kill her !!!! D:
Well okay, then don't
You can also fight Priscilla if you want
You don't have to do that either if you don't want to
But she is a boss fight
Also you don't have to kill Gwynivere but if youy havbe the Darkmoon Seance Ring, found in the catacombs, there is someplace you can go in Anor Londo which is pretty cool
ok i got the ring where do i go for the cool thing
Do you remember the lift where you fight the gargoyle near?
IIRC you can use it, so the bottom passage goes into a zone with a big statue
And a bonfire
In there you should try equipping the ring
You can activate the lift multiple times I seem to remember
ok i found it and then Gwyndolin wrecked me in 3 seconds
Fun extremely hidden fact
||Gwyndolyn is the son of Gwyn and Priscilla||
||Her draconic heritage is why he has a bunch of snakes for foots||
damn second try
Also Priscilla ||is the daughter of Seath||
I think this one's too subtle
is this a grave ?
Gwyn's
Well there isn't a body there, but they still made him a tomb

has anyone ever done an unarmed run where you can only punch things
Yep!
Lobosjr did one for Bloodborne
It was ridiculous. Took him like half an hour to kill some of the harder bosses
this chasm of the abyss sucks
oh yeah
you should have seen me i jumped in the air and screamed
anyway
i hate the levels where the gimmick is just "it's dark"
Artorias is a very good boss
Those are humans that are being mutated by the dark soul inside of them
As the darkness has taken over Oolacile
ah
they're easy but if there's more than 2 they can fuck me up pretty quick
am i supposed to go back to the Royal Wood or is that elevator just a shortcut back
it's just a shortcut
so you've found the good humanity farm?
jinx sort of
yeah, it's where you go if you want to build up lots of humanity for a covenant or to buff up campfires for NG+
As a sidenote, dd you know you went back in time for the DLC?
my wife loves to play this part of the DLC early, get the Manus catalyst, and then show up as a summon for Ornstein and Smough and be like "dark bead to the face"
kind of ? the Royal Wood kind of looks like the uhhh
the place with the plant guys
Yeah, it's the Darkroot Basin
yeah !
Ok, I don't remember exactly where it is
But it's cool so I'll wait until you find it so we can talk about it
😎👍
I think it's behind an illusory wall
is it a light one or a smack one
smack/roll I believe
IM A DRAGON
Puff puff motherfucker
Yes but you need the head stone
i just found this amazing video. takes a little bit of the sting of Siegmeyer dying away :(
His soul lives on
Cap just kicked Manus's ass
so proud 🥲
wearing smough's armor, too. What a badass
why do all the dogs in this game suck except for sif
Anti hound propaganda
have you ate yet
beat Gwyn 😎
Yes there are two endings, now let me talk to you about the competing narrative
Gwyn at some point linked the fire and then sacrificed his lordsoul on it, thus prolonging the age of Fire
But the question is, what happens when the age of Fire ends
In the abyss, if you manage to kill the Four Kings, and didn't yet place the Lord Vessel in the Klin through Kingseeker Frampt, you meet another Primordial Serpent, Darkstalker Kaathe , that tells a different story
Here be tells you, that men are descending from the Dark Soul, and when the first flame is finally estinguished, it will come the age of men.
Essentially his narrative is that the Gods are buttering you up so you would grow in strength and gather powerful souls, and then sacrifice yourself in the Klin of the First Flame like Gwyn to prolong their age against your own interest
Now...we did see what happened to Oolacile when the darkness took over so...I wouldn't necessarily trust this guy either, but it's compelling
Yes, once you beat Gwyn if you walk away you get a different ending
well i'll try for that one in 15 hours
The canon ending is the linking of the flame IIRC
yeah it would have to be for 2 and 3 to happen right ?
Well, maybe...
Like, the reason I say that Kaathe narrative is compelling, is that there are reasons to belive that the Gods are lying to you.
So if you walk away they might still have found another sucker to burn on the pire
yeah
For example, Anor Londo appearence is largely an illusion created by Gwendolin.
i do really love the idea of all these machinations and schemings by gods and kings and dragons and then i'm just some dickhead who got lucky one day and tore it all down
oh yeah
Gwynevere isn't even there, if you try to kill her she disappears and the illusion shatter, same as if you kill the dude
that was freaky when i took the Gwyenevere illusion down
and everything went super dark
As I said tho, on the other hand the Darkness doesn't seem a much better option than the Age of Fire
If we go by Oolacile at least
yeah but then the world would have at least moved on instead of staying stagnant in an endless cycle
True
I mean, Dark Souls 3 spoilers ||Creating a new world using the Dark Soul as the pigment, so Darkness, is how the series end||
So maybe there was something correct in Kaathe idea
Gwyn's music was amazing btw
Agreed
The piano bit is immedialy iconic
Also sad, you go in to fight the big boss of this place, and it's just a burned out husk, with sad muscing playing in the background
DS2 has a similar moment, but it's IMO done better and actually more in tone with that game themes
Not much better tho
Just a bit better
yeah :(
Also DS2 has the best theory in the game, as in ||Manus is transgender||
i wonder how hard a Gwyn in his prime bossfight would be
should i play DS3 or Elden Ring first
Both are great
yeah that's why im struggling to pick between the two haha
Theoretically couldn't another undead come along and link the fire?
It would be hard because you just ate all the strongest souls in Lordran but there are other lands.
holy shit that skybox is gorgeous
If you've not played Elden Ring, that area is stunningly gorgeous and is surprising that it's so gorgeous considering exactly where you find it
Actually yes!
PATCHES NATION RISE UP
But I will not say where
Here's another contextless skybox
but now i know he's in it so now im excited
good gravy
FromSoft always knocks art direction out of the park huh
even Dark Souls 1 has some extremely pretty areas
I also beat Mogh (again) the other day in preparation for the dlc
I havent gotten to bighttown on my new character
im willing to suffer through poison swamps if Miyazaki continues to enjoy making them
have you gone to Darkroot Basin yet
oh ok
Half the time i cant even get to the bell gargoyles cuz of the amount of enemies on the way
yeah it's tough
i dont really have any tips because it's been 65 hours since i fought them :(
I had to beat him on this char because it was a newgame + so that meant I had to beat him again. I knew you got more runes for new game+ (just the first, not several levels of it) and mohg gave 840k runes o.O
what weapon are you using Sylvie
i keep thinking about replaying DS1 in NG+ but then i remember the fucking Capra Demon and im like never mind
Im using the drake sword
oh good choice
Damn
are runes ER's equivalent of souls ?
Yeah
Keep in mind games have different balance in regards to how many souls enemies spit out and how much you need to level up
DS1 in NG+ is a challenge, but Catherine really enjoyed making new characters and going through it a bunch of different times just doing different things
You should consider the mod that enables gravelord and vagrant enemies https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/1381
It's effectively an official remix of the game, but since online play in NG+ is very rare nowadays, you'll never get to see most of these enemies
she's done enough NG+ runs to have seen a good number of those as well
what build should i go for next playthrough
maybe i will do something like dexterity since i did strenght this time
Do sword and board
It's a balanced strength/dexterity build that's designed to teach you how to use a shield
im going to roleplay as a warrior from Catarina though it'll be a while before i can get the armor
idk what a good name would be though
Cpt. Garlic
On non newgame+ the last boss gave me 500k
No spoilers but one piece of advice - pay attention to what's going on/what happens when you meet him 😉
man i remember when Havel gave me trouble
this time i just rolled a few times and backstabbed him and done lol
ezpz
I love replaying these games
yes
how
idk, I think you just join the warriors of sunlight covenant. Look it up
I think you'll have to level faith a little bit to join
run
oh all my covenants reset
im still in Chaos Servant but all the others have disappeared
you can only be in one at a time
is there really a way to just run all the way across ?
even with everything unequipped it still gets me
I think you can bait him to move around a bit and give you an opening
I don't remember very well
mad
mad
i cant get the gesture without 15 faith
whatever
i guess i'll just level up faith a ton
game sucks
this is Lautrec right
killed Lautrec's ass and then Solaire helped me kick the Bell Gargoyle's asses
it's kind of fun to wreck all these early game bosses with a +15 Claymore
wait wtf you can fight the lady in the painting world ????
i do not remember where to go
uhh
RIGHT
cut through Valley of Drakes to Blighttown
dude idek the normal way
i just lost so many souls 😡😡😡
in the depths?
oh yeah the big tree is like that
does Solaire know that the Sun and everything in Anor Londo is an illusion
Doubt it. I think he's just a regular undead like you are
the sun does regularly just disappear from the sky, so it wouldn't be that surprising if he did, the chosen undead has to have figured it out too, especially considering that solaire is heading in the same direction you are since he also fights ornstein and smuogh when the only thing behind them is the illusion
I definitely could see a world in which Solaire understands it's an illusion but he found purpose in jolly cooperation so it doesn't matter to him
Also because if you lose purpose you kind of go insane in DS
it would also make sense why he goes to izalith after on his search for a sun too, no sun at the kingdom of gods? go to the kingdom of fire
holy shit the Elden Ring DLC is getting 10s across the board
I can't wait
I wasn't that hyped, but now I did freshen up on the lore
And I am back in
Like, fully back in

Since my desktop is still being transported and whatnot from the move, debating between playing it on my shiny new laptop or my steam deck
how well does ER run on the deck
Fantastically, I mentioned how I killed mohg recently and got tons of runes? Was on the deck. Takes a bit to get used to the controls/shape compared to a normal xbox controller though
I did feel that it was eating through my battery quickly but I might just have had it at a high setting
Given that Cap just played DS on the deck, they are probably already there with the getting used part
switch but yeah
Makes sense, still handheld so probably still a good way there
is there a offline mode for ER
Yes
shel yeah
you'll want the messages tho 🐢
what does this turtle mean
dog
AI Denoise + AI Upscale 8k. Borat (2006). What type of dog is this?
What type of dog is this?
This is a tortoise.
Is this a cat in a hat?
No, it's a tortoise in a shell.
Yes.
apparently Miyazaki says that Elden Ring isn't even his dream fantasy RPG ??? what the fuck ?????
If Elden Ring isn't his dream fantasy RPG then what the fuck is
the whole game is a poison swamp
Maybe
King's Field IV, obviously

the return ofking's field, viva la lunacid
Dark Souls 2 is clearly the ideally fantasy RPG.
yupyup
Can't argue
where tf is the chaos sister
what do you mean?
Yeah, there is a secret wall
Right before you enter the descent towards lost izalith IIRC
oooh ok
in NG+ Catherine pretty much goes minimum path to O&S just to get warping again
I go and kill black knights for their weapons then use them to clear the game normally. Warping is not important if I'm going to cover all areas anyway
i walked all the way down to Lost Izalith and then remembered that the boss there is locked till i beat Ornstein and Smough so i had to walk all the way back to Firelink
whatever
thog don't care
so who is Sen
We don't really know
Some people think he's Gwyn's firstborn due to some stuff in ds3, but I don't think it's likely since we're supposed to not know his name
yeah I believe so
i think i read a theory that the Firstborn was buddy buddy with the dragons and Gwyn got pissed and so tried to remove him from history. idk how accurate that is and i haven't played DS3 yet so
ds3 suggests that, yeah
in that game he's associated with snake guys, which I think is mainly why people think he's Sen because Sen's Fortress is full of snake guys
it is kinda weird how many snake guys are in the fortress
they also cast lightning miracles, but that's just a Gwyn/gods thing in general I think

there's some amazing looking areas
