gotcha...had no idea what most of those were
a lot of the difficulty isn't really the base platforming (although platforming in a sinking ship is hella disorienting), it's through the hat order difference. normally you get the sprint hat first, and timers are designed to assume you have it. if you don't...you better know where you're going. the only thing that saved me was the fact that they actually slow down most non-deathwish timers more and more as they approach zero. You can still fail, of course, but by 10 seconds, each second is actually taking at least 2 seconds to tick down.

Brewing hat would also be nice. I can beat all of rush hour except the tunnels…there’s a breakable crate blocking a drop down and there is no way to bring any objects in to glitch thru the floor, so it’s absolutely mandatory.

It happens because the upstream randomizer doesn't expect more than 255 unique items
Description of the bug:
im a bit surprised this hasnt come up earlier to be honest, but when viewing the bytes we store this info in, it loops back to a bunch of zero's and as soon as it happends you are getting back the items you received much earlier in the seed
The code that writes to this is done in assembly by the upstream rando and not by ap unfortunately (atleast i cant find anything in the apcode specifically that writes to this)

once i edit the savefile data to be beyond the 1 byte, it starts giving me items i havent seen yet, ie the ruin key you received much later but its instantly reset to the 1 byte boundary making it loop again lol

I believe I finished my dw checks. all i have open is nyakuza free-roam, and after I finish that I've hit a hard-req of needing more yarn or the umbrella. umbrella would solve the illness has spread because it has no fist logic (no recoil, no hit, no damage), and nothing else (ice hat groundpound or homing attack; the latter doesn't even pop up) hurts it. brewing hat would solve rush hour as well as possibly also the illness, if potions turn out to damage it (but given the ice hat doesn't I'm not counting on it)
