I would like some rule against releasing before AT LEAST 85 or 80%. For me it would feel really bad if I'm waiting for someone and because they got lucky and beat their game early they just jump ship and give me everything at once instead of going through the intended way to progress together

I like to be as permissive and accommodating as I can in order to allow more people to participate without it being a burden, but if you feel strongly that this sort of rule is good to have, I'll implement it
while I do think it would be strange to release any of the games I've personally randomized at <50%, I'm not sure we need a rule about it since (ignoring user error/confusion) no one's going to do that unless they aren't having fun any more or reality won't let them play any more, and theoretically I could imagine a randomizer where finishing and releasing at a super low % is not a weird or bad way to play it
I'll just make it so release is on goal, and if anyone has to abandon the game, they can petition for it
Yeah, when I play randomizers on my own, my goal is to find the shortest pathway to the goal. When I play archipelago I enjoy finding checks for others so I beeline the goal but do not release until I'm done

Very low progression balancing meant I constantly got stuck. Accessibility is set to minimal and overworld entrance randomizer meant that I regularly had to do reviews of the whole map to make sure I've done all I can.
Next time around I'm making the whole YAML more random, fixing progression balancing and accessibility, making gold skulltula tokens local, adding hints for fun items that don't unlock any new checks, setting all shops, boss rewards and song locations to priority.
And making sure the logic tricks section ONLY includes tricks I know about

there are a lot of unsupported but playable AP mods
64, thousand year door and super paper Mario are in development in the archipelago discord server. Of those, 64 is marked playable, thousand year door has a GitHub page which means it might be playable too
Considering you were on 0.4.4, 0.4.5 adds a few games to the supported pool of games, so upgrading to 0.4.6 would include that as well
I don't care about whether a game is supported or not. Unsupported games are welcome too if you can reasonably assume they won't be trouble
That being said I will update the game to 0.4.6 anyway
But it's too early to think about that because we're a week away and still less than half of the games are done

You can make boss shuffle change the two moldorms into one moldorm and one other boss
Moldorm is so scary Rom still hasn't fought him in the April game
Harder than normal scenarios, depending on your settings
But since there's no way to lose the game you can just keep playing until you win
I have it set up so the game takes me about ten hours over the course of the month
If you haven't played RCT2 in a while I recommend easier settings than what I used
But yeah I think of boss shuffle as kind of a timewaster like pot shuffle. All it does is add hidden requirements you can't know going into a dungeon

The point of the rando is to enjoy a game you already like under different circumstances. I mean you can shuffle up everything no logic and just go, but is that going to be a fun experience? Depends on the person. I prefer to play under the premise: "given this set of items that I have randomly received, what is the next best course of action?" There will obviously be an element of discovery and risk to most decisions in a rando but there are certain classes of changes that take away the importance of the decisions you make, and you're just wandering around doing stuff thoughtlessly until the game is over
Basically I like to think of each seed as a new puzzle to solve, but puzzles require having information
ah yes, i apologize. that is generally how i think about things too, but depending on my mood i would consider not know what boss or what temple im going into, part of the challenge
the rando usually accommodates that anyway
It is a little different in an async I'd imagine since you're probably going to BK every couple of days and that means you're probably just going to check every node at every point, versus racing the same seed or trying to get your game done in under 2 hours or w/e
Given I haven't been playing asyncs that's the tack I've been taking with it
its mostly just an excuse to play games in a new way with friends i different timezones anyway
yeah, there's a big difference between boss shuffle in a game where you can technically beat any of them with a pointy stick, and boss shuffle in a game where each of them are invincible without their corresponding hard counter item
some Zeldas are very much the latter and I would not want to boss shuffle those
Boss shuffle works great in OoT even though many of the bosses are immune or much more difficult to fight without the dungeon items
not revisiting dungeons over and over is why I like keyring

This seed had three graphs. Main graph with most areas, second graph with sacred forest meadow and zora's fountain, and a third graph with the desert colossus and Lon Lon ranch
Without the requiem of spirit, the third graph is completely inaccessible. I had all the other warp songs

No, it's possible to reach that area
It's only possible through warp songs, and since you can warp from anywhere, this warrants a special kind of connection on the mental graph, unlike the other ones

some mods react with it, and shimmer added in 1.4.4 have some post-Moon Lord specific stuff
Probably in future when the randomizer start supporting 1.4.4 it will be kinda useful, and if it supports calamity mod it will count as a progression item

I was looking over the changes in 0.4.6 https://github.com/ArchipelagoMW/Archipelago/pull/3179 is Silently fix invalid yaml option for Toggles. It seems super convenient, but for my use case where I run an async game every month and review every YAML, I think I'd rather it just give me the error and expect me to fix it myself.

Water temple boss key is a safe bet as far as progression items go. Depending on settings it can be either essential or just important to have

Things to keep in mind when choosing a scenario:
1- Does it have a lot of tree? If so, forbid_tree_removal will make it a lot harder.
2- Is the landscape wonky? Combining forbid_high_construction with forbid_landscape_changes with a landscape that is not flat will make it impossible to proceed until others find the items that allow you to build high or change landscape.
3- In a park with limited space, monopoly_mode is a lot of fun because you can slowly expand the park as you make money. It allows you to buy the whole map instead of whatever the scenario has

Evergreen Garden is a fairly easy map so I think none of the options would block me too much, and monopoly mode seems interesting so I will try

EG already gives you a large land to deal with, but with monopoly I will have to buy even more lol

i killed myself in the forest at the beginning hoping to respawn in town, because i was out of bombs and had no bush-cutter to get back out
did it work
nope, i had gone into a cave so i respawned there
tuens out there's a "return home" option in the save menu that i never knew existed
it sends you to marin's house
possibly a rando feature to prevent getting stuck without a sword
yep
makes sense, a bunch of randos need to add a warp-to-start feature if they want some kind of entrance rando or the game just has a lot of one-way stuff that'd be unrandomizable otherwise
Iwata thought way ahead and always made OoT load you back in your home or temple of time when you save and quit outside of a dungeon
don't most of the early Zeldas do that? pretty sure LttP also reloaded at either spawn or dungeon entrance
OoT does send you back to a fixed location if you save warp, but almost all of the traversable areas are two-way
yeah, most "one-way" areas in Metroidvanias and Zeldas are only temporarily one-way until you get a certain item (but for rando purposes that's still a thing to consider)

oh there's a shuffle instruments option now
but i kinda like them being in the vanilla locations, it forces me to complete the dungeons
it finally hit me that of the games I've randomized before, there are two which have different options I wanted to try, so those will be my May games: Ender Lilies with entrance randomizer + non-main starting spirit, and A Short Hike with minimal feathers
Just set the dungeon rewards to be priority checks. That way instruments can be in other worlds but you receive other progression items when you finish a dungeon
I wonder if ASH would benefit from any priority_locations...
It's so small that you can't help doing all of it anyway
after looking at the map a bit, I can only think of a couple locations to maybe prioritize and it'd be a marginal benefit anyway
for me that option's really about checks that take significant in-game effort even after I have the required items, and ASH by design has very little like that
tested, it seems to work. the random entrances are wild
i went into the shop and i was in the bird key cave, but i couldn't do anything there. however, if you fall in a hole in there you pop out up in the mountains by papahl, where there's a chest in his cave

I think the only one of my games that has ER and any kind of tracker support for it is Tunic, and even that only came out after my Tunic ER game so I haven't tried it myself
er, rather, I believe the standard trackers for all my ER games will get the ER logic correct (except AHiT sadly), but there's no "entrance tracker" specifically to remind you how to get from A to B in the crazy world layout
i have mine set to "simple" ER, so it only shuffles entrances that have Locations in them
makes sense
even in AHiT, where I would recommend act_rando: light for a first rando playthrough because it's a hub world of portals anyway, act_rando: insanity would be too much to jump straight into
as much as I enjoy when the seed hides one of my most important levels behind 2-3 nested time rifts
You should definitely prepare to write things down if a manual entrance tracker doesn't exist

so I've never used item_links in any capacity before, but my understanding is that if "Item Name" is item linked, that means one player finding their "Item Name" causes all other slots of the same game to also receive one of the same item

if that's true, then it's completely independent of whether those items are local; that part just decides whether it's you finding your GSTs or everyone finding your GSTs
It also removes that item from all worlds, except for one copy
Rather than removing it, it replaces it with another item, but I have it left at null which means it can decide what's appropriate to replace it with

even though its just replaced with arrows and I dont use priority locations so it doesnt matter to me
in that spoiler log I see only one OoT slot having GSTs local, so with item links deleting 3/4 of them I think the local part maybe did "work" and what you were looking for requires applying it to all the OoT slots
There are two OoTs. One has GSTs local and one does not

While doing my wind waker yaml I was reminded of how the game sometimes expects you to do some outrageous combat combat caves without a sword
