Got a new ship
Messages are in the wrong order
Also got two legendary suits, a legendary boost pack, and a legendary helmet
Enjoy the Razorleaf
It has....interesting....interactions with pirates.
... Good or bad?
Hilarious
My dad said this guy looks like Steve Harvey
Ok yesterday I made I couple of tweaks to the game through a couple of mods and I'm happier now.
Especially one that raise the range from which you can access your ship cargo to 2.500 meters (up to the 250 base game)
Makes the inventory situation a bit less dumb
And it's not like before I didn't do anyway, I just used fast travel, it was just 2 loading screens every trip that really didn't add anything valuable to the gameplay cycle
well...easy kill
ok..that's awesome
I turned on the pc this morning, and got a Starfield background for login screen xD
First B class ship i put together, i love the ship building system
I actually wanted to change a detail but the ship builder guy got raptured so I'm doing it another time
Oh nevermind, he was just hiding in a corner, facing the wall (then he turned around)
Love how you can kill anyone you disagree with
Funny thing, that's also true in real life
Yeah the difference is I don't have enough money to bribe the cops irl
Joking aside
There are some NPCs that are not kilable sadly
Bethesda does have the "essential NPC" thing to rpevent quests from breaking too much
There are mods that can fix that, or at least there will be, if you are fine with quests breaking
okay this looks SO AWESOME
I can't wait to get to this part of the game
The way I built that one, is that I stole another ship with some pieces I liked, I looked up where the shipyard that sold more pieces like the ones on it was, went there and started building
This saves a lot of money, but i still had to fork over 100k when all was said and done.
Boom! I see it. Downloading now. Good shout-out, Blade28
No problem onsoa!
It just enables rebar driverside, if your hardware doesn't support it you will see no difference.
Its 5% at best, also you don't need this newest driver as the new profile was sent OTA this morning and will add into older drivers.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
my old clunker will keep puttering along at 30 fps
How many ships do you have?
like 5 or 6 but most are just waiting to be sold
That I used for any lenght of time I have 2, this one included
Nice.
Ohhh it builds shaders after every driver update. That makes sense.
Join us for an evening of music as the London Symphony Orchestra performs selections from Starfield's soundtrack at LSO St. Luke’s, composed by the legendary Inon Zur.
I can confirm that it is helping my card a little bit.
not sure if ugly, or awesome XD
....or both
Looks great
Seems like we are both pretty hyped by that manufacturer, I kinda went to them because the rounded edges remind me of the Galactica look
Earlier I fast traveled, it put me like, 5 feet in the air and I dislocated a limb when I fell...
Well played game, well played
ouch
Another thing I'm definitely gonna mod is the duration of the foods and meds
Some meds it's fine, some are literally 3 minutes
It's not worth opening the inventory for 3 minutes
put it onto a quick button?

Ok so, finished the UC Vanguard storyline and it legit was one of the coolest sci fi narratives I played from a game
I don't get how the same company can turn out that, and the main story, in the same game.
The main story is so goddamn bland and instensely dumb at times, while this was great, smart, so incredibly well written, it's crazy.
Starfield is here and Todd Howard has gifted us with another perfect bethesda game that launched perfectly balanced with no exploits or bugs or glitches. There are famously no funny starfield glitches that result in weird physics and clips. There is no evidence of Infinite money exploits there is no bug that allows you to become immortal in spac...
I'm guessing he figured out how to break the game.
By making the main quest the work of a committee who has to make the story good enough to satisfy everyone, while the side quests may be handed off to a single writer who actually gives a damn.
Yeah. People figured how to access on of the store vendor safes normally out of bounds
For easy cash
Please don't describe any exploits in this game.
I'm not sure if y'all did. I'm ignoring the messages just in case.
I wont explain how to do it dont worry.

An amusing bit of trivia I found out yesterday: In ship combat, enemies aim for the physical center of your ship. This means that if you build your ship such that the middle is a giant hole, enemies are far more likely to miss their attacks
The downside, of course, is that your ship looks like a doughnut
Or anything else, except a spaceship lol
um
pardon?

Hey hawk
Hoi
How you finding starfield.
How are you?
Good, chilling at GalaCon
It's not bad
Oooh enjoy!
Starfield's pronoun-removal mod has been banned by NexusMods
NexusMods has no patience for anti-LGBTQ mods
It’s absolutely wild to me that even just having the optional ability to customize your character is enough to make people rabidly angry.
It’s sad, really. Imagine being driven by a blind hatred for something that does absolutely nothing to your life.
That sounds like an utterly miserable way to live.
Leave it to Bethesda games to idenify and help remove a lot of shitheel people.
I just realised how hard Bethesda fumbled its characters
The game has a cowboy dad and none I have seen gives a shit about it.
After BG3 with people essentially tearing their clothes in the street for every character in the roster, the difference is incredible.
Starfield has Armin Shimerman and Tim Russ so that's +2 points for it.
That is fair and Walter is probably one of the least cardboard characters so there was good work done.
I don't think the problem comes from the VAs tho
They sound fine, the writing is pretty spotty tho
lmao
I've not played Starfield but everything I've read about the characters is that they feel out of date relative to what BG3 did.
That is in part true, the interactions you have with them usually don't feel especially meaningful, the only remarkable exchange I had with one of the main cast so far was with Sarah after I finished a major sidequest, we had an exchange as to what she thought on how I handled the situation, I really liked that, especially since she disagreed quite a bit, she felt like her own person rather than the unconditional pratise she keeps giving during the main quest so far.
The only character I give a fuck so far is Sanon Hardian and she is from a sidequest
Sam isn't terrible, the fact that he brings his daughter to work ranges from charming to infuriating depending on how many times you heard the line they are currently exchanging.

A lot of games are going to feel out of date compared to BG3, they kind of set a new bar.
Definitely coming out right after BG3 doesn't help it, but I do think that even within its genre prior to BG3 the character writing leave something to be desired
Like, I gave a shit about most characters in Mass Effect, to have an apples to apples comparison.
Now admittedly, Mass Effect was the gold standard for that, for a long time, still...
I think the issue from what I've seen is that Starfield characters seem to "force" themselves into the narrative, you just seem to jump in and be placed immediately with little meaning.
I think a huge part to why Mass Effect is loved was the sense of purpose, or creating a sense of purpose. I haven't seen BG3 gameplay or story bits, but I assume the game provides a purpose to why said characters exist in a non-direct way.
Meanwhile Starfield does not feel as organic, it feels expected and feels rather forced to experience, especially when -slight spoiler-||when you contraband in starfield and get caught the first time, you're immediately thrown into the interrogation room. All of this happens because some guy was like "yo, I feel you're unique lol, wanna join or suffer? do join though please!".|| I think experiences like that don't feel genuine and just more or less tells the player that they've reached a new random mission/quest, than to imply actual discovery.
Maybe, I do think you can do narratives like that, that work tho.
Oh for sure, don't get me wrong on that. I do think some experiences can work like that.
But the game starts really aggressively throwing you quests instead of letting the player discover them slowly.
Like, to take Bioware again as an example, you are pretty special in DA:O but the narrative works pretty well
I want to see Space Battleship Yamato :3

new ship, it was a while that I wanted to try a concept with a forward docker, IDK why I really like that idea
I feel like this will be my ship until I finish this, I might do some upgrades, change the engine layout or add some weapons if I find myself with some energy to spare, but I'm pretty happy with it
That said I need to swap out the armory, the layout of this armory is trash

Never have in my life wanted to try out a pizza square so bad.
US MRE Menu 23
Pepperoni Pizza
it's almost square shaped
lol
Judging by the image, it's made by Domino XD
For a role playing game, it missed a lot of opportunities to role play. I was directly asked what my background was, and "I use to be a bounty hunter" wasn't an option. Like, the person asking me was trying to see if we had violent backgrounds in common and I didn't get the opportunity to say, "Dude I use to shoot people for creds, I don't care who you kill."
Barrett's story ||On the other hand you can flirt with the universes biggest nerd||
Barret is probably my favourite constellation dude, I didn't like the others much tho
16 hours in and I just discovered how to access the ship cargo
I've just been, ya know, dropping crap on the floor of the ship

Some of those boxes are hidden, but always in the cockpit area somewhere.
Man I feel like I looked everywhere but couldn't find it. I'm still using the Frontier. I bet you're right but I really did spend awhile looking
I found a little one
So uhh, how do I tell Vasco to move?
Push him XD
Well, after about 30-40 hour in the game, I decided to try out outpost building
Took me 2 days, but finally I manufacturing Adaptive Frames (or what lol).....after I figured out why I not get Aluminium from my Al mine
Well, once, I did not put down enough solar panel, then I draw the cargo transfer line from the wrong container on the Cargo Link XD
Barret: "Vasco! Protocol Floor Glued, you know the drill!"
Vasco: "Protocol Floor Glued, again?"
XD
now he is stuck in squatted mode lmao, clearly a certified bethesda moment.
That's not a bug I am pretty sure, he stays in the einginnering module if you have one and stays in that mode.
They definitely should have put a robot bay in there like the ones you see in facilities and put him in there tho
Well, when you get the Frontier, he says he gonna be in the ship's robot bay, which is outside (probably by the side of the ramp), so he shouldn't be on board at the first place
Yeah because the frontier doesn't have an engineerng module I'm pretty sure
May be wrong tho
I put engineering module in my other ships....he never appeared
And when deboard, he always walk up from the side
Also, he's glad we survived our last sleep cycle :P
The engineering module is at the bottom level where the cargo door opens.
This was the infirmary.
He is just there, stuck.
You can still talk to Vasco.
He was also spawning outside the roof of the ship in space.
Probably checking the wind ;)
Update 1.7.33 is now available for #Starfield on Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store, and Steam, featuring improved performance and general gameplay fixes! 🪐
Update notes: https://t.co/ndnUDKAtUi

231
Characters: Fixed an issue that could cause some characters to not be in their proper location.
Maybe that Vasco bug is fixed.
Graphics: Addressed an upscaling issue that could cause textures to become blurry.
Finally.
Vendors: Addressed an issue that allowed for a vendor’s full inventory to be accessible.
No more puddle cheat
Star Stations: Fixed an issue where Star Stations would be labeled as a player-owned ship.
no more stealing The Key either
Displays: Fixed an issue that would cause items stored in Razorleaf Storage Containers and Weapon Racks to disappear after commandeering another ship.
oh good, they fixed the Razorleaf's weapon racks
He's still stuck.
I don't even know if my ship layout is abnormal for the game.
Turns out its a known thing from what I've seen on reddit, a solution is to just remove Vasco from the team.
Internal ship layout is a current problem with the game because there's no control over it right now.
Yeah I don't like how it generates randomly ladders and doors
It can really form very inconvenient pathways for no reason
It'd be nice if you could go in a sub menu and decide where to place the ladders and the doors
Ship building overall is a W as for how you do it, but there are a number of things I'd like to see changed
For example I'd like to see the various modules do things
Like it'd be nice for example, if having an armory had enemies drop more ammo, or if an infirmery gave 10% bonus to pharmaceuticals, or extra healing from healing items.
Like any bonus would be good, even minor ones
Also the aesthetic structual things you add, kind of suck because they are cosmetic but add mass.
I'd like to see them add some hull as well.
Maybe even in an extremely inefficient mass to hull ratio, but just to not have usless mass you are carrying around
Yeah, the hubs should do more.
There's aspects of Starfield I hope they improve rather then wait for modders to fix it.
There is so much potential, honestly, a big overhaul that tighten up those things and add a survival mode that take advantage of it would make my fucking year
Speaking of modding
But that's mostly because I don't have any trust in bethesda delivering a tight game.
They have the overall vision down but they aren't good at doing the fine tuning
This game begs for survival elements.
The main story would be 10 times more engaging if reaching ||those temples presented any adversity at all||
And so would be the outpost system
Which I engaged with quite a bit with and i think it's actually very cool
I'm eager to get into the outpost system. I don't need it yet, so I haven't bothered, but it sounds cool.
What mission are you on midnight?

I’m still only in like act 1 of the main quest line haha
I just did a bunch of side stuff and the Terrormorph questline and then got bored
(Or more like “went to Italy”)
Hehe
My last main quest was when I saved Barret, since that, only side quests.....I have 50+ hours XD
Is that the one where you have to turn on the security system?

Yes. And also ||you learn what the whole deal is with Terrormorphs||
Tea moths
I think about to restart the game....I not really advanced in the main quests anyways, but what I did so far is mostly a knotted mess XD
Also, now that I got an SSD in the laptop, I can enjoy the first missions without two day long loadings XD
woo for SSDs

hehe, nice emotes

I don't think this is normal.
Hmm....
Nothing to see here!
Hmmm XD
No idea...I barely got anything XD
My game no longer loads, fantastic.
This is cloud gaming too lmfao.
Also got to see 2D space rocks.
Wow
Oh, the game is not on your pc?
I'm on a Mac.
Ah
And now I may have crashed or corrupted my cloud instance.
"All of this just works"
- Some guy at Bethesda / Not Todd (Probably - Look I'm making Skyrim 2)
Only for the few selected people XD
Ive barely encountered any bugs
Same
The only bug I've had was model clipping
a reformed/refitted pirate ship :P

Thanks, true I not really modified it XD
only added an extra pair of engines, landing thrusters, a hab to the top, and some cargo container
God I forgot how good the sidequests in bethesda games are.
This sidequest on Mars has me crackin
which one? :P
ah
I'll check it out later...now I started to build my outpost system
hopefully a bit better than last time XD
you didn't see uglier ship than this, huh? XD
man. I spent literally 1 hour trying to find the last creature to scan when surveying a planet. The lost cost fallacy was real with that one, haha. I did it though.
7 resources, 6 plants, 6 creatures, 3 unique features. I wanted to see what something that complex was worth.
Nice
And I spent the whole day to put together a working mining/cargo link system, so all resource is delivered to my base of operation
All I need now is an actual base XD
Oh wow it was worth a lot. Nice
Cool
I wonder, if you accept a planet scan at the mission kiosk.....do you get the mission money AND the data money too, or just the mission's...
Good question
I think I'm finally ready to build a ship. I just offloaded sooo much contraband, haha.
Should get both.
Have fun ^^
👍
Yaay
Here is under normal light.
Bulky
Nice!!
Looks pretty slick
ooh nice
Should I say that....I ship it? :3
Anyone else having any launching issues lately? Haven't played for a couple days and just now when trying to play the game launches just fine but trying to load a save and the game crashes to desktop
Tried verifying game files and still nothing
I could uninstall and reinstall but I don't wanna lose progress
I haven't had any recent issues (it has been a week or two since I last played), but I have been reading about save files having that problem since updates have started to come in.
After some research this is a known problem. The most recent 5 or so saves don't load but any further back than that work and if saved again will continue to work. This loses me about an hour of progress but not all too much
Thank God for the autosaves in part.
I just did a bunch of editing of my Star Eagle in the last hour I played so that's all I'm losing
I've seen posts about this throughout the past month so it's either an ongoing or on-and-off problem
I have an issue where the game slowly starts to fail and no longer loads textures, then it eventually gives up and crashes.
Speaking of the devil.
Anybody else have problems with the inter system cargo links?
the normal ones working fine, but the inter system ones are not transport almost anything (checked multiple times, it works fine), despite the fact, the game shows them full, also when they return to their starting point, that minimal stuff they deliver, they bring it back and drop into the incoming container (of that pad, where they came from)
that's on every moon, not hard to get fortunately
Hard to manufacture the extractor though.
so now I'm forced to destroy my base outpost, and move it to the same system, where all the mining going
yeah....not easy
Probably a good idea.
I've had to freaking find another spot for my outpost because the game crashed whenever I landed on to it.
ouch
So I had to like go back a save, delete it, then go somewhere else.
I save scum like a printer with unlimited fuel.
heh
Also I literally talked to myself saying "Star Citizen" instead of Starfield.
I knew I was gonna get both names mixed up.
:P
I also unlocked Tier B and C for the ships, so....I upgraded and expanded my ship a bit to B now
later gonna come the C rebuild, but first need money XD
welp, neon is broken
It keeps duplicating the ship twice.
Okay, found a workaround. Basically load to another part of the world that you're in. (Interiors)
Then just save and quit. Hard restart the game, or cloud session (if streaming). Load the save you've made, not the exit save. Then go back and you're golden.
I had that once..never ever
I've had an issue with Neon not letting me into the main city area at times and the only way to fix it was to start from the docking area and then enter the city proper.
I wonder if I can improve all of my suits stats other than the main three.

It became a little personal.
I guess, with crafting?
Like the special things you get from the three tiers? No. Those are random. You can mod the defensive and atmospheric stuff.
:D Took a couple of hours but I built my first ship! Let's GOOO! I took it out for a spin and shot down some angry bros. This hunk of metal preforms WAY better than the Frontier. I'm very happy with it.
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198035237410/screenshot/2099297597650496972/
Only advice is to make sure that you have room where the reactor is, especially when you upgrade class (which is how). That'll make it easier to keep the ship as it and still benefit from the newer parts you get from those tiers.
Better question: Is the inside tolerable for you?
Still, nice looking ship.
when i upgrade the reactor or anything else, I'll build a whole new ship if it doesn't look right. I designed this guy about 4 times before I landed on this, haha
Rather than upgrading a ship in class, I preferred to just board an enemy ship of a higher class with some pieces I liked and adapt that one
Buying is a bit pricey bot boarding is a lot more affordable
Also advice, hard save before doing any ship building
Sometimes the game breaks when you finish building a ship
That's what I did with the one that had shielded cargo until I bought my Warhammer (good stats, plus 40k/fantasy for me), and redid the reactor and some of the internal bits to make it fit (and replace some of the Deimos stuff with another company).
And the only way to fix it is to load a previous save
Also, be sure to fill the ship with succulents. /s
I was the guy that filled rooms and chests with gear and stuff, never anything weird or crazy. Just wish the cargo system was a little more friendly or at least let me take my "legally obtained" new ship (ignore the damaged systems, firearm marks, and blood; maybe contraband too) and just fly it elsewhere without the whole "home ship" thing.
You can do this by boarding the ship, making it your home ship, then boarding your old ship back and making that one your home ship
It's still annoying, the system is kind of half baked.
I was really hoping in the ability to hire a crew to man a ship I'm not using and send it to make money
Maybe it's how I do it then. I tend to do the homeship once I am seated. Moment I do, the other one goes back home.
I wouldn't mind having a spare ship with crew do something similar that NMS does with it's frigates, with them going off on something and coming back later with goods or the like.
Since I tend to board in space, my docked ship leaves as soon as the home ship is changed. Maybe if I am not seated and make that call, that won't happen.
This game neededs an hangar module where to store a small ship
That'd be super fun to design a max 10m fighter to store in your huge 40m ship
The large pad in an outpost is that. Acts just like any large pad in settled areas.
Oh. Derp.
I wouldn't mind a tiny fighter. Elite Dangerous has a few ships that can do that.
There is so much potential, but in classic bethesda fashion, none of the systems are exploited to their max potential
Yeah, that sounds amazing. I'd love to grav jump into a system, and have to rush to my fighter to take out the pirates. Sounds fun as hell
I think a lot of things changed numerous times during production and the pieces are there somewhere. DLC will flesh some of it out, but we'll see.
Also they made mech illegal by interstellar law thinking it'd justify why I can't use them
It actually made me want them more
Need some warcrimes in this bitch
I want my 100 ton King Crab and to fight mech battles in an arena that isn't sanctioned.
Under flight pre-check.
A random ship just asked me for two ship parts and i have none so i couldn't give anything to them and immediately after i told them i didn't have any the ship blew up
F
You were their only hope D:
I didnt have any ship parts😭
It's wise to always carry at least a few in your cargo hold. You can use them to repair your own ship, and they are also useful for encounters like that one.
My ship has a missile with their name on it next time i see that warranty fucker
I used to buy ship parts, but you can get a few for a reward helping system authority clear bandits on occasion.
No. There is another.
I prefer more but shorter loading screens then one big loading screen
and I rather have a loading screen then mass effect 1 elevator
I bought their 100k package XD
I find the PAR and Disabler weapon combo to be good. PAR is balanced and Disabler allows me to board if I want to.
I need help in starfield. Only a little help, I don't want the answer, just a hint.
I'm on the main story line mission where I have to steal an artifact from an eccentric collector on his ship. He's got a zoo on his ship and everything.
||Anyway, I've tried every I can think of to get the artifact without being hunted down. I've tried:
- Sweet talking him to show me the artifact.
- cutting down the walls to get to it. When I take it, totally undetected, it still alerts the crew
- letting the zoo animals free to distract the crew, this doesn't seem to distract the guard of the artifact
I've tried combining those ideas or doing them alone.. nothing seems to be working.
I'm wondering if I did it right, but the game messed up? Am I on the right track?
||
I haven't gone down the story that far yet. Sorry.
There is one way I can think of, but that requires just about completing that corporate series of missions.
I don't there either, but - if you didn't do it - I suggest talk with everyone you can.....maybe they have a workaround/hint
Couldn't figure it out either, just stole it pretty much lol.
Did you say 'please'? XD
Well, so, that's my backup strat. My last resort. ||Grab the thing, which triggers a firefight and just book it out of there. It gives me a bounty, though. I'm not sure if I can get the artifact back to the lounge without it being confiscated first?||
||It doesn’t have a red symbol or yellow symbol, meaning it can not be confiscated. You do need to grab the artifact again, although I’d recommend paying the bounty off in the opposite’s faction systems. At least that is what I did after exhausting all options. Maybe there is a skill you need to have but idk.||
Huh. I'm half surprised it took this long, but that's still pretty quick.
The solution to this is stupid.
Life is stupid too sometimes
Spoilers ahead: ||So The Hunter showed up. Honestly was not expecting them to do something this crazy, so props. I ended up killing him, and he gave me a reward for doing so, lol..I thought that was really funny. He's like, "I am not bested easily, you deserve this. (GUN)"||
I thought I try out the Breach shotgun.....had another one with 114 damage, the breach had 134 I think....I was like, hmm...sounds good....
Dang....
That SHOTGUN is an instant killer (1-2 shot) even FROM DISTANCE
....the heck? XD
And when I say distance, I mean sniper distance XD
Might be the slug mod that does it.
I don't use mods
I meant the ammo modification in the weapon. Most gear can be modded in some form natively. Also possible that you found it with that mod installed.
Well, it have a few mod on, so yeah, could be
Not that I mind tho XD
I could go trough the last Deputy mission with ease XD
Hmm....I guess he needs glasses
I can relate with Barret on this.
XD
momma said that's bad for your eyes to be that close
Yup
I've had all sorts of crazy hilarious bugs, I need to take more pictures of a few funny ones.
I don't even try to intentionally break the game.
It just happens.
Just like the good Skyrim days.
You get all the bugs XD
Anyway, have this funny flavor text I've found while doing a quest. Nothing spoiler-heavy but I'll still spoil it regardless for those who want to encounter it by themselves.
lmao
Yeah....there is a few mods on it...slug included
I believe the long barrel gives it good accuracy as well.
Good ol... long range silenced shot gun
That's some borderlands 1 stuff there.
Removed/replaced the silence mod to get even more power
How frustrating. I boarded a lovely ship and I can't steal it. I upgraded my piloting skill, but it still wasn't enough. I need to destroy more ships before I can upgrade it again. What a waste.
Must be Class C. RIP.

Sounds legit....like an air horn put into a cardboard box to make it less loud XD

imma just leave this mod here
you're welcome
That is the dumbest thing. It was very cool the first time. That's it.
It was neat the first time. It got old quick. Seems that others agree with modding it out
Yeah. Also, my biggest complaint was just how loud it was and no means to soften the noise.
WHAT? I DON'T HEAR YOU!!!
actually, I not really mind it tho
I know, I know...Imma weird
@south bay have you managed to play more of the game?
Nope. I should.
It’s a good game would you change anything about it?
Or add to the game.

I'm pretty sure I would change how spaceflight works so that it's actually a meaningful mechanic, they do a lot of railroading for it.
You can still fly to planets but they take hours to get to but a mod will probably change that
They implied in their marketing that you would do docking manually too, but nope, it's a scripted animation.
And yeah, you're expected to just use fast travel, they've designed their flight in such a way that they actively discourage you from doing spaceflight
I would love to dock manually makes it more realistic.
I don't know if I'd care for the actual docking, but I would like some manouvering challenges
Like navigating an asteroid field, or trying to manouver inside the wreck of a huge ship, or in the hollow of a big asteroids full of holes
I'd like to get the boarding thing we saw way back when, just to try it once.
What boarding thing?
I could have sworn there was an super early look that showed the PC cutting into a ship to board it.
I'm asking, I didn't look that much pre release stuff
There is currently boarding enemy ships
IDK if you mean a different system for it
It would have been a different system. You'd still get in and fight, but, assuming my memory wasn't a fever dream, there was a boarding sequence that involved EVAing and cutting a breach into an opposing ship to board, preferably after disabling the ship.
It might also be possible that I might be getting it confused with a proposed (also maybe faulty memory) Payday in space, where that was a thing.
Got it
I still want that though. Might be a headache, but cool to do at least once.
On one of the ships I've been on, you can indeed cut the bolts off a metal plate, and it's like cutting a hole in a ship wall. It falls over and you can go through it.
Secret passage
It took me so long to realize you could actually cut the bolts on those wall panels
Today's update for #Starfield introduces settings to adjust FOV, as well as fixes for performance and quest issues! Read the full notes here: https://beth.games/3rI8cvF
FOV settings, finally.
all the attention with an fov slider cracks me up. I had no idea this is a setting people care about. Outside of, like, counterstrike? The whole thing confuses me.
Like I've had people say "I looked at starfield but with no fov slider, I passed " I just didn't expect it to be a deal breaker
Now those performances issue fixes.. I need that, lol. I'm puttputting along at about 28 fps
I get motion sick with the FOV being set too low.
If its 90 then I can tolerate it, but Starfield's FOV feels like 80 or 70?
Also fov does give more spatial awareness and I can quickly aim to where I need to shoot.
So the over-exaggeration is annoying, but it also isn't entirely unwarranted.
Yeah it's a big deal because of motion sickness
Which it's why you see the clamoring for it basically almost only on FPS despite the fact that it's sometimes also present in third person shooters
There is something about the first person perspective that some people just can't handle for whatever reason
Well, consider the following.
Imagine that your camera is all the way zoomed in, and then you pull your gun into the camera's recording zone.
Then you move and it just gets all wacky and disorienting because there is clearly a lack of depth perception.
Like I go so far into editing the .ini files to make sure the FOV is tolerable, otherwise I'll have to "get used to it" and that takes a while. Once I do I can manage but if I go back to a game with a wider fov, it feels like its a breath of fresh air.
Regardless of how I feel, I understand some engines have difficulty adjusting FOVs.
heck yes

bbbbb
That’s… odd. First I’ve heard of that
It's only common on pc FPS, probably because it's from screens closer to the observer
I never felt motion sickness from FPS games so I wouldn't know exactly, but it's pretty common
It was pretty much standard for a game to include a FOV option when all FPS were PC native, then the Console FPS rose up, and since apparently standing farther from the screen doesn't cause that problem, a lot of ports initially lacked that option
And it's where people started lamenting its absence
Do you play the game in first or third person?
Uhh, Sarah?
Third
Does that apply to other games as well?
I tend to take third person in games that provide the option between the two.
I find it useful for situational awareness.
Third person is good for seeing everything around you.
Dude I love it!!!!
Hell yeah look at that landing gear
Get a video of it landing or talking off
Its in the video
Thanks, its a bit of a pain to find the right parts... but after getting them... the reward is sweet.
I do need to convert it to a C class soon.
I already converted mine to C, at least by reactor and grav drive
Still needs money for decent engines lol
Time to build them shaders again
I acquired a ship but my piloting skill still isn't high enough to use it so it'll just sit in my starport for now
I've been blowing up ships every chance I get but it takes awhile to find ones to destroy
I looked it up (Side quest spoilers) ||Over designed - I role played too hard and screwed myself out of an amazing starship. I made very sensible cuts to everything and ended up with a good but not half as good of a ship as I could have gotten.||
||If you do the Vanguard side quests, you can use the simulator to boost your pilot/target system/etc skills||
Whoa sorry, please don't tell me about quests I haven't played through yet. You can only play them for the first time once.
Before I clicked your message, I assumed it was a follow up on what I said. Not a whole new quest spoiler.
Sorry
No worries! Just letting ya know. I stopped reading after the first 3 words, haha
Lol
It's honestly not too much spoiler, I mean, the part I mentioned not reveal anything about the side story
At least that's what I think
Also it's kinda not even a first mission thing, more like a one before first XD
Oh! So it is

But yeah, sorry once again
Just to make up for it, I gonna pay your ship's extended warranty ;)
Starfield user reviews fallen to 69%
... not nice
lol
I wonder why, honestly
It's a bit of a slow burn but I'm enjoying the heck out of it
I guess not everyone likes slow pace games
That's fair. And it's flaws are glaring.
Starfield is good example of a flawed game that is a lot of fun to play.

Funny thing is, lot of people showed/talked about gliches, I never met XD
For me it's almost bugless

Aside from people flying off into space or descending into the floor I haven't really experienced any bugs
Though those are some pretty major bugs, especially when it's the story NPCs vacating the atmosphere
Though I think a lot of the flaws aren't bugs anyway
my only annoying bug so far is the Neon service technician, who's diving in the ocean - and I have a package for him....
I've had a few issues, but it has been a slightly better launch than I had expected, outside wanting more optimization.
As for fun, I ran into a thread that sorta described me. I want to enjoy it and do more, but I haven't touched it for a bit since I have other games that have grabbed my attention. Foundation and bones are there, but I guess I am expecting more and it isn't there yet.
incredible
That's pretty funny
It's one letter away so the fuzzy search picks it up
Well 2 letters
Barrett is so great. The best companion. Companion quest spoilers: ||His quest to clear Ervin's name is really fun. I'm enjoying it, and I like how it branches out a lot.||
Main story spoilers: ||Other Barrett 🤣||
Barrett continued companion quest spoilers (major spoilers).. ||Oof... I never had to Friend Zone someone before in a video game. I feel bad for the guy! 😬 Anyway, after picking the friendship option, it told me he considers me an ally. Which is very funny considering..
||
Regarding main story stuff, as I've learned: ||The identity of the Emissary can shift in each playthrough. AFAIK the first time it is the character who dies in the Starborn attack on the Eye/Lodge, but every other time it is someone different, which is, I imagine, one reason they are always referred to with they/them pronouns.||
My first ship from scratch, the Harmonia. In my first playthrough I had another ship I liked but it was just a modified Star Eagle. This one's an all-original creation.
I should probably do more of the main quest and get that out of the way.
The main quest really got me returning for sure.
Also how do I get that front?
It looks sick.
Gives me Y-Wing vibes.
It's the Ares Bridge, can only be purchased at the Deimos Staryard
I am about to cause a stock shortage.
Staryards of the various companies are places where you can get all of their parts in one place, including exclusive parts like that Ares Bridge.
Thank you! I didn't know this at all!
Ship Services on planets usually have a mix of companies
I didn't either and I wish that was explained a bit better. Finding them is half the fun.
I kinda guessed that was the case and did a bit of Googling and confirmed my suspicions
aaaaa
I have done like so many faction quests, and have yet to do the Akila quests.
There is so much questing, its amazing.
So many quests
I feel like I haven't found like even half of what's possible outside the big faction questlines
I gotta say, I love how faction quests work in this game.
And a couple of those big lines leave threads for possible/likely future quests and questlines in DLC
Like ||If you choose to side with UC SysDef in the Crimson Fleet line, Naeva escapes and, at least as far as I've played, doesn't pop up again but the game makes sure to point out that she is probably out there somewhere. I either just haven't found her or they're planning something in future content.||
Anyone find any "Other Bethesda Game" Easter Eggs?
So far I've found an Elder Scroll and a reference to Doom
lmao
I think its a reference to Civ?
Oh also found a Skyrim reference to Delvin Mallory from the Thieves Guild in Skyrim
That's sweet!
it's 2023 and we still can't see our feet Bethesda
What the hell even CS:GO has this
Well that's funny. I was just thinking to myself that I've never felt the need to build an outpost in over 50 hours of playing and that seemed weird. Welp, I found a need! I'm excited. I've been wanting to play Starfactorio for awhile now, but didn't see the point until now.
Man I'm excited. I'm gonna build a freighter ship and a badass outpost just for this mission.
It's like flying a Borg cube
I'm new to the whole outpost thing but I'm guessing it's normal to need a base for every basic ingredient? Aluminum, copper, iron, etc? I can't built a factory because I run out of supplies immediately
I want to say yes, but it has been a bit.
They're all in the same system so it's not awful.
One trap I fell into initially
Don't connect your outpost energy grid
If you don't connect stuff together, it's just automatically distributed
You use the wire tool only if you want to create a smaller grid within the system, for example, if you want to connect a solar panel to a turret to make sure that turret never shuts off even if you go over in the main grid
That makes sense
When you do, that panel provides energy only to that turret, and that turret only draws from that panel
To my understanding
This thing keeps getting chunkier.
That school bus is huge
It used to be a 3-level ship, but I downsized it to 2-level.
So its flatter but much easier to navigate inside.
I guess they finally got that nuclear winter.
you can do this with every staryard ;)
my mane ship so far
no, I meant the delivery
also, working on a secondary one, specially for cargo/passenger runs
lol
Sorry, coffee hasn't quit kicked in yet. I'm unable to follow what you're getting at.
You were excited to find that delivery mission for Tident....I only said, you can get such missions at the other staryards too

oh, sure okay. Good to know! thanks
That was the most expense and time consuming 4,000 credits I'd ever earned
Oh, can't forget the whopping 50 exp I got for it too!
Roughly 10 hours of playing to complete that quest. Built 8 outposts, linked most of them together into one long supply chain. It was really cool. Looking forward to the next mission like that now that I have outposts that'll get all the common materials.
Oh and get this, a starship tried to shoot me down while I was making the deliver. But the super-wide Frontier held her own
Oh! Sweet! A rarer achievement that I got by accident.
I got jumpscared by the Technician.
I DONT KNOW
And then he left
Like he just used the bottom cargo door
I swear I get the weirdest bugs
LAWL
This is like vinesauce level of bugs.
what the hell
And if you look closely into the model, you can see through him, meaning I screencapped the frame he was already leaving.
Also my ship is causing frame rate drops lmfao.
Have you built an outpost yet?
Nope
He was just checking for heat leaches.
My ship have so many assholes running around it that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't notice if he came aboard
So you're saying that you're surrounded by assholes?
Hull Breached?
Hi, I'm Ty Pennington with Extreem Home Makeover - Spaceship edition. We decided to bust down this wall to allow for a more open design...
Oh man, I need to find the screenshot I took the other day. Barrett decided to stand in front of the pilot chair while I was in the middle of a dog fight. I couldn't see, lol
LOL
So I found the problem.
They just walk into the cargo and enter.
No questions asked.
Five technicians just waltz in.
This maneuver is gonna costs us 2400 hours.
Just 100 days. No big deal.
my time has come
Spaceballs :3
Mission: Entangled ||Well that was amazing. It really showed the writing abilities of this team. That, like, the most interesting quest yet. Also, you get one hell of a reward!!||
...this keeps happening!! I can't figure out a way around it! I travel along the Nat, then my compainion starts a convo with me and just... ghosts out
Try traveling by using the planet's map.
Sarah: "Time to set some stuff away."
You could also just jetpack your way down to your ship.
The map is not entirely closed.
They let you escape the map's borders until you actually hit the physical engine limit border.
Got it fixed but it took so long
Starfield Lore- The Rogue AI of the Autonomous Dogstar Factory
AI, when we see it in games, is usually a bad idea. Today, as we take a look at the Autonomous Dogstar Factory, is no exception. We uncover the story of Callum Troy, and his failed attempt to automate the facility using robots and AI. The result of this was the AI going rogue, and t...
One more clean liftoff.
[Spoiler] ||It's time.||
I snuck aboard a Spacer ship and they took off help
Pretty sure I can kill everyone aboard and jack the ship. I got on to steal it in the first place. Just started another NG+ and wanted a big ship as soon as possible.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do on NG+.
Oof, just ran across one of the saddest things I've seen in the game ||Random ship floating dead in orbit around a planet. Board it, and find a dead couple with slates next to them. One slate is a journal saying how the couple was out there to spread the ashes of a lost child, but since the child's death the wife hasn't been okay. She has taken her own life and has a slate with a poorly spelled Mother's Day message on it. Above her is a bunk with a box with the child's name written on it and some toys. In the cockpit is a toy and a plant sitting in one of the three seats.||
That’s rough. I also have one but its more grim than sad. ||Found a ship that had everyone inside dead, all oxygen deprived. The logs were all basically hopeless and depressing, saying its been damaged and can’t be fixed. Meanwhile one log mentions how the captain oddly locked himself in the cockpit. While accessing the cockpit, you discover that the captain basically murdered everyone and himself out of a cry of mental instability. Stating that nobody understood him and overall was fed up, so he took everyone down with him.|| Pretty brutal stuff.
Some of Bethesda's game writers know how to really get fricken dark and toy with your emotions.
Yup
unless you're just an emotionless husk...then there's no hope for you
I haven't run into either ship that shows those yet, but Beth is known to have its share of sad/rough stories in various places in various games.
I have also found a bathroom stall with ||Tissues, a soap dispenser, and a book with some content.||
I swear.. this chick friggin hates me
Like, I figured I'd try her out as a companion for awhile. I get the "girl disliked that..." a LOT
That was me with Andreja. Between that and other shit she just says about stuff and people I started to really not like her.
Barrett's a G though. Real guy.
I had apparently managed to go through her entire romance arc before doing the second story quest
And thus actually before I met any of the other companions
(except for a brief encounter with Barrett)
lol, nice
https://old.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/17hpiao/all_systems_nominal/ Not my build, but I do present... the flying fuck.
This is... soooo funny to me omg
Well I'm not happy. During a mission, I warped into a dog fight and took over a ship before landing on the planet the mission was for. Somehow, the ship and everything inside it disappeared. I didn't realize this until I was ready to leave the planet, and by then, all the quick saves had cycled. So, I can't go back to before I landed on the planet. So now I'm down a new ship and everything inside it.
Including all the ship parts. God damn it.
ah that sucks!
Sarah, darling, what ARE you doing?
"I take exploring seriously" Spaces herself in the name of The Constellation
All right! That was genuinely fun. I just completed the Freestar Rangers quest line. It was clever! A little predictable but there were some things I didn't see coming. Good writing imho. I like all the branching decisions that were possible here. If I ever play it again, I'll have to mix it up a little. Maybe be a little more hot headed and see what happens. The final rewards are pretty cool, too. I didn't expect them.
Freestar line is probably my favorite one. Would make a great miniseries
All the lines would, really, but I could really see the Freestar questline played out as a program
Sure, with some polish. "The Firsts!" angle was very good. Now it's time to try the vanguard story line. Genryu talked that one up and it's been sitting idle since day 1.
BEHOLD! My "Starship Design" grind ship. Grinding a skill that costs so much money is sooo annoying, lol. Whatever, it's done now. I am a master builder.
Got to buy and use 30 unique modules so.... yeah it's very mismatched (and all the iterations before this final design aren't shown)
I'm not surprsed, startstations look pretty modular
It definitely makes a whole lot of sense if there was a plan for player ran stations even up to midway through development
Hopefully they add it in a DLC
Weapon skins customization also missing. There are some if you pre-ordered or got special editions but other than that the only skins are on unique weapons found throughout the game. I imagine those are upcoming DLC as well
In that same vein I'd also like to see decals for ships, like slapping on a UC or FC logo somewhere
I wonder what this station is.
...aight before I clicked on the picture and saw it in full resolution, I thought it said "Pound Station"
Extreme NG+ Spoilers Warning | Need Input ||I'm thinking of letting Barret become my friend on the first multiverse, mainly because the Barret I knew died on my universe. But is it right to do this? Like I don't know if there is a consequence for doing this, I kinda want Barret to become Starborn y'know? As a payback against the hunter, but this is his multiverse, it feels like I'm violating some sort of space time continuum law or something.||
Also, here is a gift. I hope y'all enjoy this sweet shot I took. I know its crusty, but I am dealing with game streaming limits.
||Because there are infinite universes, on any NG+ you will find that the Emissary, the Hunter, and other Starborn can be any of your companions, including a grown-up Cora. It appears to be random who you will encounter each NG+.||
||So take Barret with me, alright... yeah.||
Here is another ship I've made, and yes its yellow-golden.
oooh nice
Very cool. Looks like a wasp
Where is Ant-Man then?
We've been hard at work on @StarfieldGame updates and will be putting our next one into Steam Beta next week.
This update will feature Nvidia DLSS support with frame generation, display and HDR controls for supported systems, and other optimizations and improvements. You'll be able to opt-in to try it via the Steam Beta options. We’d love your ...

I said Starfield would have native DLSS support in 2 weeks, you said in 2 years, so I think roughly 2 months is a pretty good middle ground
Continues to chug along at 20 fps on my gtx 1080
Fucking finally.
Personally, I don't expect too too much improvement, but it will probably help those lower on tech to get some more power. Bigger improvement will be on the console side if they do it right.
But consoles are all AMD and so don't do DLSS anyway. And it already had FSR.
I guess in the future they will add FSR frame generation on consoles for double frame rates but that's still a future event.
Has anyone else noticed that Canada and Japan are, like, highly represented in Starfield? There's the Can-uck! brand of food that can be found throughout the galaxy and it seems like every other person has at least a partially Japanese name and there is a lot of Japanese food, in addition to multiple companies having clear Japanese origins like Ryujin and Taiyo
Oh interesting
I have noticed that
Canada and Japan do have an oddly high representation in the game
not that i'm complaining
I like all the Can-uck! food stuff
You can now opt in to @StarfieldGame's Steam Beta, which allows our Steam PC players to play #Starfield's next update in a beta version of the game before it goes live.

Huh wonder why
Man. I was watching a YouTube video just now where my man Todd Howard was discussing Bethesda games since the dos days and it really made me appreciate how much Starfield does. It is absolutely massive and so ambitious. He said he's got about 450 people in the company and 250 of them are still working on Starfield. Many are still working on Fallout 76 and even Fallout 4. Like it's crazy the amount of people behind these games.
ooh neat! do you happen to have a link to the video?
Yeah, I really appreciate the folks who work on fo76 and starfield, I saw about the beta patch coming up that they managed a 20% increase in performance in some areas.
Famed video game director Todd Howard breaks down his storied career at Bethesda Game Studios. From his first game in 1995, The Terminator: Future Shock, to his newest IP in almost thirty years, Starfield, the Skyrim, Daggerfall, and Fallout creator highlights a timeline of the games he's produced, designed and directed for an ever-developing ga...
yeah Fallout 4 is eventually supposed to get an anniversary update like Skyrim SE did which is probably why theres still people on it
@south bay have you managed to complete the game yet?
Update 1.8.86 has landed! 🚀
💻 DLSS Support

🔧 Numerous fixes and improvements

Nothing wrong with waiting or doing other things. Sept 18 myself, but that initial burst was 85.9 hours.
aye, I meant to play more, but just got distracted i think
Same 🌟🌟
that article seems like a whole lot of nothing bestie, thats just how advertising works
This isn't news... it's not your experience with starfield, it's not an update that's coming soon, it's pointless. Agent, you tend to post random links to this and that all the time and I tend to just ignore it all since it's your thing or whatever, but I guess I feel a little let down when the Starfield thread popped back up and it was nothing.
Other than starfields reviews on steam dipping down to mixed there really hasn’t been any major announcements or news for it
I decided to play it
confusingly, the robot buddy knows my name
v. creepy, so I uninstalled
Lol
I can't believe this game took 7 years to make and at no point did anyone think that maybe a game about space would be better served with less loading screens
They were top of the class at one point but everyone passed them in game design. They didn’t make enough effort to keep up. Starfield would have been fine a half decade ago.
The random generated stuff can be improved upon, I think there’s a lot of room to make the game better.
If the future content focuses on actual shit to do in space it might end up fine
Also I really want survival stuff from modders
it just like... it blows my mind that you get on the ship, load screen through a ladder, load screen into a chair, load screen into space, load screen to wherever you're going, load screen down to the planet.
What the fuck were they thinking?? WE had ladder climbing in 1998, Todd!
Yep… it’s so bad
This is 2004 levels of game design. Seriously.
Kinda reinvented the Ebon Hawk from Knights of the Old Republic
Some of the loading screens I actually like being there, but they definitely could cut down on some of them
And once you do get used to it, you learn you don't really have to go through space
like, you can from one planet, select another planet and fast travel to the location you want
And it cuts down on loading screens, but the fact that there is no space in the space game, is a whole another problem then
Yep. The tutorial railroads you past the space in the space game.
“We’re in space! Now fast travel to your destination, no flying around in this game!”
Just… guys. You’ve lost your plot.
You don't actually have to do anything in the tutorial to be fair, once you are in space, you can actually go wherever, I'm pretty sure the "go directly there" is just a joke.
Like, actually literally a joke, as in they say something like "yeah that's the protocol, directly there except for necessary stops in other places" and they kinda hint at the fact that Barrett took "necessary" very loosely
Really? IIRC it was blocking user input except for the tutorial directions
It definitely lets you fly around but you can’t get anywhere because you have to use fast travel to do anything
I don't remember exactly what I did, and if where I did it, was all on one planet or I flew around
I'm confident I landed in a few locations before jumping away
To be clear, I think the game is okay, it does one thing exceptionally good, a few things in a passable way, and a couple of things shockingly bad for the kind of game it is.
But many games never get to do one thing exceptionally good so there is hope for it, but man...the rought spots are really in inconvenient places.
They kinda fucked up the two things they needed to nail the most
Immersion and feeling of exploration
yeah but that's really not my point. You don't even really need to have a spaceship at all
What I said still does cut on the numbers of loading screens
You most of the time just really need to go through one, or two at most
I just think it's still bad when you do it that way for different reasons
I haven't really encountered any real loading thus far, due to it being on an SSD. It's more of a comment on the structure of the game. They could've made a lot of this a lot more seamless, but didn't.
To be fair, i am not 100% sure they could have
From outside and inside the ship, they kinda had to put a loading screen, because the fact that they are modular
Or at least I'd believe them if they said to me that's the reason they did this
The flying up to space being a loading screen is kind of controversial, but like, it being seamless is not something you do on a whim.
It's kind of a feat to do that kind of seamless transition between planet and space
Moving from planet to planet being a loading screen is probably the worst part, I wouldn't mind it if there was more stuff to do in space, but you really feel the lack of actual space travel when you really don't do anything up there as far as playtime is concerned.
I mean, technical limitations will always be an issue of course, but it's not as if there's no games out there that manage to do seamless transitions between ground and space, for example. I suspect the real reason there's that limitation is because they didn't want to deal with players turning their ships into gunboats and just nuking pirates (etc) from the air.
I doubt that was a consideration
It's just a completely different kind of game you are talking about I feel
Thing is, Starfield didn't need to do that and I am unsure it'd be significantly better if you could do the no man's sky landing
The problems I perceive at least, are not necessarily tied to that, and the solutions I would like to see applied are compatible with Starfield scope, which isn't really "space sim"
Speaking of NMS and Elite Dangerous (the latter in which I have several hundred hours in)
The landing and manually flying across a solar system doesn't necessarily make the game any better than a loading screen.
It is just a different approach, it's more immersive but in many ways make the universe feel much smaller when you can see your ship going acrss it in a few minutes.
I feel like Starfield approach does have some positives, especially for a game for which the point isn't to be a space sim, the real problem is that the starship building is easly the best part of the game and there is nothing to do with the ship once you have it.
The game shouldn't have shipped with this glaring obvious hole of content is my feeling
When I play Starfield I always have a feeling like I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm very good at games
I'll believe it when I see it. I wish them the best to achieve those goals.
What people expect: rovers
what they'll get: silly run cycles
Loading screen when mounting or unmounting an open-air vehicle
it's like that skit from the office. "enter ship? loading screen. Go to space? Loading screen. Want to go to another system? believe it or not, loading screen."
Y'know what shows up once in the game and then never again? That part where you have the choice to fuck up the Varu'un ships near the relay station or sneak by them and head straight for the station without engaging in combat. The game goes out of its way to tell you how to keep your ship hidden and then you never have to make your ship sneaky ever again.
I suspect as much about that. I also suspect there were chances to repeat it, but it was cut.
really
Thank you to the millions of players who have made the Settled Systems their home over the past few months since #Starfield's launch.
From highly-requested features like city maps and new ways to travel to official mod support with the launch of Creations, we're working hard to make sure 2024 is a huge year for Starfield, and we couldn't do any...
Look forward to the creation kit for it
the game needs a mini map
like
there's no excuse. I have a mini map irl on my phone
yeah, that'd be nice to have for sure
"I Built Spyro The Dragon!!!" in #Starfield
why do you find it uncomfortable? is it the movement or camera controls?
No map I think and I don't really know what to do but since today I'm figuring things out well
Started Starfield for the first time the other day.
The beauty of space has taught me so much in so short a time...
...the most potent lesson, of course, being that explosives are not conducive to close-quarters ambush tactics.
Ah, so, your character didn't have a military background
Your rounds hit the jackpack and the 1/10 chance (or something close) for it to explode exploded.
"Why would I need to have a military background?" I thought.
"Surely a spacefaring humanity has established a peaceful utopia," I thought.
So, I try to start a simple and peaceful life working for a mining corporation, and thirty minutes later I'm getting into a firefight with space pirates.
Oh well. Maybe there's still time to snag a cushy yet unfulfilling accounting job on New Atlantis...
Actually, the weapon I was using had a small chance to cause an explosion whenever a bullet hit its mark.
The jetpack could have also exploded, of course. That would have been comedic, and everyone knows that Starfield only exists so Todd Howard can laugh at our misfortune.
It exists because Todd wanted to make this since his start at Beth all those years ago. The misfortune is on him though, but maybe that can be somewhat corrected in time.
Pilot your very own mech
Credit to m150 for the Model A mech armor
Ngl. Having some form of mech suit and mech combat would have been really cool
I said it before, the fact that lore-wise they are against the law of war of every inhabited system, doesn't make me want them less, it makes me want them more
A lot of improvements are coming to #Starfield later this month, and those who opt into our Steam Beta will be able to experience them next week! Read on for a preview 👇
↘️ Quoting Bethesda Game Studios (@BethesdaStudios)
Next week, on January 17, we’ll be putting our biggest @StarfieldGame update yet into Steam Beta with over 100 fixes and i...
That tells me very little outside a pretty picture. I guess I'll wait for the news thing to hit the store.
some notable beta map features: star system descriptions, map filters with what appears to be an overlay for economy/trade, and space travel hazards like solar radiation and micrometeoroids - could be part of earlier gameplay design where planetary hazards were a much bigger concern and actual ship fuel consumption was a thing (which Todd talked about in the past).
Willing to be the economic thing comes back as a dlc
If you view it. It tells you some of the stuff that’s being added.
Unless Twitter messed up with alt links, I don't see anything on those tweets.
What do you see when you click it?
Just a blown up picture of New Atlantis. There is no link taking me to their news site about it.
Oh. This is a thread and not a one-off link. That's explain it. I don't have a Twitter account, so threads don't show up period with a specific link or using another service to show it.
Ah.
I feel like this is all neat and all but does little to address the actual substantive complaints
It's similar to NMS and 2077, in where their focus was on getting the game to be playable for the vast majority of folks, along with major bug fixes, before fixing the meat and potatoes areas.
Blablabla
That's a pretty rude attitude to have. Starfield may not be the greatest game ever, but the devs are still working hard on it and patching problems that people have been having. They're making the game better, or are at least trying to.
I'm sorry. The game is very pretty. I hope they add normal map because I never know where shops are
UPDATE: Bethesda is briefly delaying the PC beta for Starfield's next update, following the discovery of an unspecified "issue" https://www.eurogamer.net/starfields-next-big-update-promises-over-100-fixes-and-improvements-pc-beta-next-week
Our latest update to @StarfieldGame is now in Steam Beta with fixes to numerous Quests, graphic improvements, and much more. We currently plan to release this update on all platforms in two weeks. #Starfield

ooh neat!
AMD FSR 3 comes to Starfield in our latest Steam Beta. Those of you playing on Steam can opt into the Beta to see the improvements brought to the game before this update becomes available to all our PC Starfield players. This new feature allows for a combination of upscaling as well as advanced frame generation, boosting your framerate for bette...
Look what I got
Nice.
Cool!
Enjoy!
Good armour and great ship
I wonder, does that ship maintain the effect of spacers and the Crimson Fleet backing off when they spot you if you edit, like, everything about it?
yes
it's the ship ID in the code that triggers them being afraid. As long as it started as the Razorleaf, it'll always do it no matter how much you change it.

So just put a Class C engine on it and go ham when you get the skills/money.
Unfortunately as of right now my piloting skill isn’t high enough
oh hey the FSR 3 and XeSS update finally dropped
and the FormID fix to stop corrupting saves

Our next update is now available. In it you’ll find AMD’s FSR 3 options and a few other fixes. Need to find what FSR 3 brings to Starfield? Check out our feature here. Other fixes included in this update will be related to performance and stability, including adjustments done to address the FormID issue we’ve seen several commenting on. As alway...
So that's what that 1GB update was.
Yeah I’ve been having problems launching the game keeps saying not enough memory or something
Did anyone else order a Vasco FunkoPOP many months ago?
They were suppoed to ship in February but I ain't heard a peep about it.
No, but I suspect that if it was supposed to be shipped via the Red Sea, current events make that a bit harder to do and not everyone wants to pay to go around or another route.
well look what XGS finally got off their ass and shipped
Should have initiated Protocol Indigo a long time ago.
The latest @StarfieldGame update is now available on all platforms! Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the Steam Beta and providing your feedback.

my name is Reina. I know i used the CD tag for years, but if you'd take a moment to adjust.
Is that Todd Howard
Todd wishes he could be fired at this point, but take everything with him.
@maiden leaf Am I right in remembering that you found the Vanguard missions to be particularly interesting? Major spoilers ahead regarding ||xenomorphs||: ||That was simply incredible. Tracking down the secrets, discovering the UC is harboring a was criminal, using that to gain ones own fortune... What a captivating story. I really enjoyed it. I plan on reading about the different paths I could have chosen. I ended up going with the "Invasive species" solution instead of the "biological warfare". It seemed like the lesser of two evils.||
Yeah it's the part of the game I enjoyed the most
It's really well done
My logic for going with the ||species instead of the virus wasn't because I didn't trust the virus to be safe, but more because...these factions were in a pretty nasty war until recently, how do they think that the populations of those planets would take the news of the UC releasing a pathogen into their atmosphere?!?||
Sounded like a disaster waiting to happen to me
Even if ||the virus didn't mutate||
Yeah, I thought that too. Plus, ||The major downside of the Aceles option was that it might be too slow. So, like... Why not try that first because it's safer, but if it fails or if we need to hurry up, also deploy the microbe solution. The game presents it like a This or That solution, but why not both?||
I'm excited for patch that will come in 3 days, I think then I'll really start playing
Given Bethesda's reputation, I'm kinda worried they'll screw it up somehow, rendering the game suboptimal to play for a few weeks
Oh that may be true hm
I keep getting some not enough memory error whenever I try to launch starfield
huh weird, does it say which type of memory it's talking about? Does searching the error number bring anything up?
Ok so I’ve cleared the SSD and that seems to have worked
Update is now rolling out across pc and Xbox
I can't wait until I check it out after work, I've been waiting so much!!
💖💖 It's just how it should be on launch, it feels like it was released again
what did they add/change in this patch? are there patch notes anywhere?
well that's one hell of a patch

thanks Lunar Aurora
I woke up early to try it out. I'm in the middle of a mission so I didn't really notice anything different yet. Which, honestly, I'll take as a win for now. Looking forward to the QoL features
Nat Nat Nat
When I play a game and they put deep lore or explaining it always flies over my head
Oh, well, I didn't get it at first but this is part of the exposition. They'll talk about it a lot in the game, so don't feel bad if it's not obvious at first.
Long story short, there was a space war, but they resolved it. There is still resentment, but things are peaceful now.
You pretty much need to piece together UC/Freestar relations lore yourself
There's a lot to learn
Though one quest line gives you a lot of help
Lol yeah
Thank you 💖💖
Sarah insisted she goes with me I usually walk alone in Bethesda games
fair enough, nice armour

Creation Kit is finally out
Bring on the mods
Some coins to use if you have the premium edition https://fxtwitter.com/bethesda_uk/status/1800513329623916865?

I have heard nothing but backlash from the update. Creation kit shit wildly overpriced, paying by the mission, shit that should have been in the game from launch (all of it) behind paywalls with their own paywalls
$10 for a single unique luxury hab for your ship with a chest that has unlimited storage capacity. Not access to that hab for all your ships, One. For one ship.
And Bethesda being Bethesda will likely have this same shit in some "generous" pack a year or two from now for a lower price
Honestly.
The only good thing to come out of it was the creation kit which means will get some decent fan mods assuming they stick with it
No fuck that too because you have to pay for those "creation credits" like people aren't just gonna get the same damn mods from elsewhere when the game already supports it
I meant like free mods silly lmao
Unless they made it to where the creation kit mods only can be put on bethesdas stuff now

Creation Kit is the same modding kit as every other Bethesda game that the community has been waiting for
now the modders on Nexus can start cooking
