I think the stream might be too small for that, just the key wall looks good
You could also just do some bushes and plants along the water
I think I figured it out
ended up using a surface
That looks great, nice job
new map of the city, unlocked all the wonders

this fucking thing
I just cant with it being there
there is no way to remove it I already tried it
coz it is supposed to be like that
the thing is that I hid terrain with surface
I would've preferred it without any terrain
but game cant do that with such thin path
with a road it would've worked but road doesnt make sense here
What about a pedrestrian one way?
Man... that sucks...
yeah it does
pedestrian doesnt work either
it somehow breaks the road
this kinda works but looks weird still
there is nothing I can do to remove the terrain.
One question I get asked most in the comments is what are the essential mods for someone just starting out in Cities Skylines 2?
Today, I’m answering that by sharing my list of must-have mods for beginners. I’ll not only show you what they are but also give a quick tutorial on how to use each one, so you can hit the ground running and take your...
Looking good!
Love that mine
Love that!
With the construction of the Stadium District complete, BERTA has finalized plans for a major overhaul of its bus network, routing all lines through a new central hub. But just as the pieces were falling into place, Governor Timmons unveils an ambitious vision: a modern electric tram system to serve as the backbone of regional transit, with buse...
Great episode focusing on transit
Damn, impressive what adding more transit does to land value.
CS2 just got an update and while it's not the biggest we've seen, it's still an important one. The update solves some crashing issues that many have been facing, and extends functionality and re-balances the CCP. In this video, we'll dive into all of them, including one that is in explicitly not discussed in the patch notes. Enjoy!

New update is pretty great
Wow those school changes are insane, I love it.
Ooh, the telecom building is a lot better, nice.
Hey they fixed the sub-buildings from the packs so they can be placed anywhere in the radius rather than snap-to.
The Eastern Europe Region Pack for Cities: Skylines 2 has just been released and its a big, colorful, highly versatile pack that I think many of you are going to love! Similar to the UK pack, this region pack this pack comes with everything that you need to make an authentic Eastern European city!
This pack features 6 new zones, 378 growables,...
smh they made em commie blocks too colorful
missed an opportunity to make depressing cities possible with this pack
Also, I've seen a bunch of comments basically saying "Eastern Europe is much more culturally and architecturally diverse, all other regions got country packs and EE is just one."
Which is actually true and I feel like they could've expanded on it instead of going with one.
Or at least made it bigger than it is (8 gb storage wormhole yay yay)
this is a problem coz they really missed the point of brutalist architecture somehow ???
Could've been fixed if they just added a gray variant to all panels and that era brick houses
but it seems like only a small portion have them
The main creator is Ukranian. So they wanted a mix of Soviet-era Brutalist architecture, and local traditional construction, along with the post-Soviet renovations. Hence all the bright colors, it was basically a rejection of the old Soviet style by making things as colorful as possible.
A lot of the panel block buildings ended up being quite colorful, either due to being designed that way or due to later renovations.
That's probably because their design was more driven by practical constraints and goals about making construction cheap and easy, rather than considered artistic goals or a conscious attempt to fit a movement like Brutalism. They ended up being more or less quasi-Brutalist, but that was not because they were intended to be Brutalist I don't think.
Panelák (Czech: [ˈpanɛlaːk] Slovak: [ˈpanɛlaːk]) is a colloquial term in Czech and Slovak for a large panel system panel building constructed of pre-fabricated, pre-stressed concrete, such as those extant in the former Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic & Slovakia) and elsewhere in the world. Paneláks are usually located in housing estates (...
Making bad decisions

A more sane area, trees are very expensive
Are they not releasing dates anymore to surprise us or have I not been looking?
The World is Ending Sale
The China Region Pack for Cities: Skylines 2 has just been released and it's outstanding! The pack has some of the tallest growables in the game, and is one of the only packs to offer high density buildings that could be used in almost any build. In addition, it comes with a number of buildings that will assist in making the perfect Chinese-th...
I wonder if any of these packs will have industrial zone
They updated the release dates a while back.
Here’s what’s next:
US South West Pack – February 24, 2025
US North East Pack – March 3, 2025
Made a park
oooh that's a nice one
Made a plaza
Ooo, yeah. that'd be great
Is anybody else having crashing issues? I'm not even running any mods this playthrough
The USA Southwest Region Pack is out now and I'm in love with it! The pack has the best North American assets for Cities Skylines 2, rivaling some of the best custom assets for CS1! And it's no surprise - it comes from some of the most talented creators in the community: Badi_Dea, BadPeanut, Bsquikelhausen, Darf, Geze, Gruny, King Leno, and S...
Oh, the thumbnail broke?
Is there any info on the 3 creator packs? They only have march left at this point if they're doing Q1 still
I can't wait for the Northeast pack, especially since I'm building a Maine styled build
Maine-styled build?
I was thinking of doing a build on a Portland (ME, obviously) map, but decided I’d really rather play Stardew Valley.
Yeah, tho it's heading more towards New York rn
I was kind of fishing for details
I'll get some pictures next time I play
Also curious what “Maine-style” means in this context.
Well, I've been using a decent amount of the UK pack for buildings
I've also been using alleyways more than normal roads for smaller towns and low density parts of neighborhoods
It's a bit hard since this playthrough is completely vanilla so I can get achivements
I should prob do some more research on Portland tho because most of my original research was smaller towns and not bigger populations
I will prob get back to it once that Northeast pack releases and redevelop a whole lot of it
The reason I decided to do a Maine-styled build is because of what I did research on for a town I built in Minecraft
Since the state of this series, we've been trying everything to make Segunda Beach. feel more Californian. When we couldn't' do it in a vanilla game, we added mods. And even with those mods, it didn't quite hit right.
Enter the USA Southwest Region Pack, which provides a variety of Southwest USA themed assets covering basically every zoning c...
Using the Southwest pack to make the city look more Californian.
We've reached the final stop on our region packs journey and this time we're staying in the USA, but heading to the east coast!
This is a region pack that I have really been looking for, since many of the buildings east of the Rocky Mountains share much of the same DNA. That means that much of the pack will be applicable to the US East Coast...
Time to raze my cities for these assets!
You can put sunglasses on the water tower lol
Omg, it's the ghoastbusters asset
Maybe it's the CCPs, or at least a trailer
TIL there's a new city builder coming called Citystate: Metropolis
https://www.citystategame.com/
TIL
Looks to be an indie dev, so not sure how complex/supported it's going to be. Still, nice to have another option.
With the release of the new region packs, I've been feeling inspired to revisiting parts of Magnolia County and bring them up to current standards. And what better place to start than Bailey!
Baily was originally built back in Episode 15, about 1 year ago, and it's showing its age. It feels too dense, very disjointed, and honestly, pretty ugly...

hi! ive been thinkin of getting the first game for some time (i watched some gameplay and it seems quite fun), and with the sale i figured i can grab it. i bought the pack with mass transit and industries included, and wanted to ask which of the other expansions yall would recommend (im thinkin of gettin one more for now). internet seems to think either park life or green cities, but im interested in opinions here
Park Life is definitely more better in my opinion
It's modular
And fills odd parcels quite nicely
It kicked off the more modular DLCs, like industries and airports
Park Life, Industries
Green Cities is neat, but not essential. Good if you want more environmental options.
After Dark, for adding bike lanes
still, looks like ill be goin with parks then. thank u for info!
once im done with kcd II i will probably pop up askin absolute noob questions so i hope youll like that
K! Have fun!
We love discussing the games, so that's no problem.
Just make sure your machine can handle late-game stuff. It is fairly taxing, but if you can play KCD2, it's probably fine.
Next Tuesday, Cities Skylines 2 is going to have an avalanche of new content and updates!
These include three new Content Creators Packs:

As well as abase game update that includes:

- New game modes (easy / normal)

Talks about the anniversary patch
He has early access and is going to do a stream with it
I like the easy mode, I haven't exactly gotten a hold on Economy 2.0. In my vanilla build, I've been taxing placed industries.
It really depends on the map. I'm having trouble balancing the budget early in certain maps, because it's hard to gain density without killing your budget on services.
The 10th anniversary of Cities Skylines brings with it 3 NEW content creator DLCs for Cities 2, a new patch plus some free assets for the game! CS1 also receives the popular Paradox Subscription system that the grand strategy titles have. What do you think about all this?

Oh my god, the movie theater has posters, and some of them are covers for other video games Paradox published
I know! Love that detail
But where is Horse Economy 3? Is it safe?
They need more radio stations ,and one them them better have a Horse Economy commercial.
They should also put more of their games on posters. CK series could be a long-running movies series, Hearts of Iron a documentary, Victoria as a biopic, and Imperator:Rome as their version of Gladiator.
And your local FGS with a thing for Battletech (assuming they still have the rights to show it).
Awesome!

It's from this video:

Industrial areas so often turn into a quick afterthought in Cities Skylines 1 and Cities Skylines 2. Something we just plop down quickly by the edge of the map to satisfy the demand, while we put all our attention to our growing downtown. But with a bit of extra care and clever use of vanilla tools, we can turn industry from being an afterthough...

City Planner Plays mod sets through dependencies
Neat
what city/town should i use as a height map for cs1
What are you going for?
Melbourne, Victoria.
Love that looming over view
starting new city no cheat but placing buildings through find it for better layout
Nice start
they really should add big factories to the game
coz like
how do i impliment something like this
with those small home-size assets
or this
oh fucking finally sun came out
this is good
so I have a question
this is too much planning but anyway
oh actually nvm i figuired it out
I basically want to plan those EE microdistricts that way, so that even by car you don't need to take too many turns that cross another lane
- The first may be more efficient, but the second is easier for drivers to comprehend. Might want to inrease the number of lanes in the roundabout itself though.
yeah I just think second one is simpler infrastructure-wise
idk about adding more lanes tho
Just one more lane bro
Maybe curve the roads for better flow
ended up doing this
should work
also this way ill have more space for future tram network
I think game is broken.
no matter what i do all my specialized industries go in debt
also some of them are just stuck at 49% efficiency
That's coming along really well!
this is just frustrating.
game is fundamentally broken as all my industries are going into huge debt
same with commercial buildings
also look at this office lmao
for reference, i dont have any mods that affect economy in any way shape or form possible
and i started the city in the latest patch
I think taxation is broken too
as im getting only this amount of money
from like 300 people working in offices
tbf this is probably caused by all offices being in 1mil debt
but like how the fuck do you go 1 mil in debt
like bruh you have 26/29 workers and shitton of resources
why are you broke
I've also ran an experiment where i set taxes to 0 and it didn't help it
no matter what you do they just go into debt
also they don't close for some reason??
like before economy patch if they went too hard in debt they would just close and a new company would take over
IIRC Taxation above 12% will actually cause businesses to avoid your city.
i think devs know that they broke something and decided to just lock industries from closing
while fixing the issue
i mean it kinda does the job, but it also stops industies from leveling up
yeah well it doesnt matter
.
yeeep
the game is broken
my office demand is constantly going up even tho my unemployment rate is at all time low
and this is the amount of offices i have
and this is the amount of money im getting
from them
1k total
what the fuck
it isnt even built but already is in debt
huh
some of my industrial buildings
dont have working spaces
???
for ref how it should be (minus the 460k debt)
OH COZ THEY DONT HAVE COMPANIES
wait why are they not getting abandoned then????
perhaps...
this is just frustrating and kills any desire to play the game.
So I've spoke to people.
it seems like game is broken at the delivery part
basically devs broke extractors so trucks don't deliver the resources
that goes for specialised industries, offices and normal industrial buildings
also some commercial
depends on the resource
There is no mod to fix this and this problem has been here for a while - since economy patch
also I don't think the next update is going to include a fix.
This is truly shitty.
Good to know
what happened lol\
the game is like on extra hard mode
because of earlier decribed issue.
im constantly balancing between 0
oh my god.
if i only had fucking money for road maintenance depot
...
I like
Oooh, I like how this neighborhood turned out.

so your only way of exporting energy abroad burned down?
no problem
it still is EXPORTING energy
hoooow
also im making more money now because there is no maintenance fee
expanding
so far loving how it is turning out
I do kinda hate EE 5th level houses
this is just too uncharacteristic for city im buildng
(if that makes sense)
There some parts of water on google maps that looks like you messed something up in cities skylines 1
Ah
great
save doesnt load
even after disabling conflicting mod
oh ok every mod ui system is broken apparently
Cities Skylines just received update 1.3.3f1, which has been dubbed the Quays and Piers patch. This is a patch that was supposed to be released alongside of the Bridges and Ports DLC, but is now being released alone since the DLC was postponed to Q4 2025. The update comes with new bridges, piers, quays, and a bevy of simulation improvements a...
people in steam discussions say how fucked up it is to release a new patch without the ability to downgrade one down version
because a lot of us play with mods and this basically makes game impossible to play
I 100% agree
like this one
coz now I have to wait till modders update their mods to the latest version
and I feel like it would take a week
so this is funny af
save loads
new game can be started
but there is no ui lol
not even esc works
like wut
Backtick (`) should be the default Hide/Show UI button.
no it literally has no ui
Ah, yeah, mod conflict, that makes sense.
BIKES!?
the difference trees make
overhauled one ugly district
now it looks good
there are small high and elementary schools
imma need to fill it with tress now
night view of my city in cs1
lookin good
my city at night
im liking this overhaul
I did to this district
ground level
day time view
so um
apparently they just walk along the train tracks
if you dont build train station
lmao
That's so emo

this is a must watch
new update seems to have broken specialized industries even more
because now rent on new areas is stuck at 29

Yet another MPM album
one of my most efficient train lines i made. 78% car trips saved
The look reminds me of "microdistricts," taking notes from the Soviets or?
I always found "microdistricts" to be a really interesting urban design concept.
yeah
im literally building a soviet-built city
Was the one of those external map mods for CSII?
That's another surprise. I wonder what they're doing with Cities 1
Seems they're just adding creator packs and such, no direct development.
Looks cool
Here's something I've been working on
It's part of an experiment I'm doing with multiple server acting as city councils in a county
I'm loving it! The curve is cool
that riverline took soo much time i feel it
Yeah, this is my personal town in the experiment, it's on like turn 3 now. There's 7 other towns spotted about the map
"town of placeholder"
It's a silly reference to a previous experiment which spawned an inside editing joke
Server wdym ? Like actual people ?
Yeah, actual people. Each server gets their own town council and can make decisions for their town
Here's a map, I'm using Magnolia County as a map
holy shit...
also i dont get since when industial zones have to be this big
im not making any fucking money
electricity so expensive...
and ive tested even with a coal plant ill be -300k in debt
not so say id have to take a 1 mil loan
like
what the fuck
so it is a lose-lose situation
i have demand i have em placed
It's made by the same person who made the one for Cities One, tho it's not on Paradox Mods anymore and it's quite janky
all of them are in horrendous debt too
I like this road technique
I started doing it back at the release of the game
looks super nice

Nice, it looks great!

The game isn't out just yet, but will be released into Early Access Q1 of 2026.

I doubt that game will be a valid competition
i mean it only works good with european cities
No? Plenty of American cities don't follow a grid, or at least have sections that don't.
yes but i mean that i can only see it being useful with building old european cities
im doing the full on american planning
"do suburbs first and fuguire out where to put social services later"
coz i have no idea where to place schools now
Damn! Do they even need cranes?
well as it seems they do!

I wonder if the other feature highlight will be parks
They have fixes for offices and commercial!
Well, I decided to tear out half my city and rebuild it. Plopped most buildings too
At least it's not entirely a boring grid anymore
I also love this giant park that runs though my city like a river.
Oooh, I really like that.

Some early access gameplay!
Are the hotels fixed in this one?
I'm not sure what the problem was with the hotels, but they did fix things like the "5/5 employees" bug.
I know some of the signature hotel buildings killed commercial demand and made like 400k an hour
Oh yeah, apparently there was an issue with demand not being calculated correctly for commercial & industrial, and they say that's fixed.
What population are your cities when you usually end a build?
well I never end a build but my last one is like 43k
I'm using a mod that makes your simulation speed even faster than the game allows you to
sooo idk
haven't noticed much lag yet
What specs do you have?
32 ram rx7900gre ryzen 5 5600
Mmm ok, might be my CPU... It is a very intensive game
Yeah, I maxed out the CPU in my motherboard just for this game. That said, it's an old motherboard.
I finally started to play this and the whole 'gain experience to unlock stuff' has to be one of the most ass ideas I've seen in a game like this.
it feels like it completely misunderstands the idea of 'city building' in favor of some sort of RPG element system which doesn't belong
I suppose I should be grateful they don't have you manufacturing tanks to travel to other cities to destroy and loot for crafting materials so you can make buildings via a crafting system
was the original City Skylines like this?
Somewhat. There were still "build X a Y numbe of times to unlock Z" things, though it was more about hitting population milestones for basic stuff. Unique buildings did wait until you built some number of basic stuff before they were available though.
unique buildings I can see, less seeable is getting xp to get points to unlock.... basic traffic control methods
Yeah, that can be frustrating. But in the early game, gaining XP is fairly easy. You get XP just by putting down roads, zoning, and getting population.
yeah I guess
I wanted to do fishing but I can't figure out what the 'water progression tree' is
I haven't messed with the new fishing stuff yet.
I've also noticed it sems to lag severely at times
I guess I'm just kind of glad I haven't bought it because it really doesn't feel that good to me, which is such a massive disappointment all over
Yeah, the game is very demanding. They've had trouble optimizing it well. :/
I think there isn't. Since it's a specilized industry.
Maybe Water Transport?
I think it’s generally very common to have progressive building unlocks in city-builders; I vaguely recall something similar being in the original four SimCity games, although that might have been more closely tied to in-game year than anything else.
the 'unlock' thing just says 'water progression tree' or something
it doesn't appear in the progression tabs
I think you may have to go into the Transportion tree and look at the water-based options there, maybe?
maybe

But at least assets, that's really good

Bike Bend spent years trying to get the city to take cycling seriously, but never had much luck. That changed when James Jones and Russ Kowalski joined the group and helped turn advocacy into real policy. They pushed the council to form a Bicycle Commission, served on it, and helped develop a locally preferred bike network. And they didn’t sto...
Magnolia is finally back!
Two new Content Creator Packs - Supply Chains and Skyscrapers - are releasing for Cities Skylines 2 on December 3rd, and they’re not what you might expect. Normally, CCPs are bundles of themed assets from community creators, but these go much further. Both REV0 (Skyscrapers) and Badi_dea (Supply Chains) push CS2 in ways we haven’t seen yet, ...
Oh damn, that was quick
and now, the game won't load for me...
Just the main menu. It kinda did on first launch, but the mods were updating
Yeah, you may have to unsubscribe & resubscribe to mods. Some of them may not be updated yet.
Yeah, I'm trying to troubleshoot with mods disabled, that seems to get me into the menus at least
Okay that's a good first step.

One of my biggest problems with Cities Skylines 2 is how zoning works.
It’s janky, unpredictable, and rarely behaves ...
Not yet, he's just showing it off
I meant the video, I thought it was coming out tomorrow. I guess the asset video was quite late
Ah!
I saw that mod like 2 months ago and it is in closed beta or something
They say it's coming out soon
this sounds really interesting
Well, that's good at least

The only thung I don't like about it
is their amount of employees
very small studio for such a game
I hope they'll be able to bring more people to work on the game
Thanks Steam Recap
CO has only 30 employees
yeah and they had really bad release schedule
because of that
I think they're looking to expand to around 44 or 45?
Yeah, they have 5 open positions they're looking for right now
On November 28, everything changed for Segunda Beach. What started as a small brush fire near Segunda Vines quickly turned into a nightmare when the Santa Lucia winds shifted. The fire jumped the Verde Coast Highway and tore through the heart of the city, leaving nothing but ruins from the Boulevard to Diablo Point.
Now, we face a massive urban...
Oh no... I saw that yesterday pop up for members only. I'm scared to watch it now...
Nice, that stuff sounds pretty great!

Talk about perfect timing! The River Barges mod dropped literally the day after Episode 60, so we’re back with a special "B-episode" to get it into the build.
We’re also adding the Outside Traffic Adjuster to kill off that dummy river traffic (huge thanks to @Zreezy for letting me know about it) and getting an exclusive look at Luca’s un...

What happens when you take the verticality of Timberborn, the deep economic management of Anno, and the complex automation of Factorio? You get Whiskerwood and it’s honestly fantastic!

Let's lead with the conclusion - I think the patch is good and in this video, I'll go over why.

My computer cries with my 211k city
how do you even reach such high population...
Split people up into 7 seperate times in charge of their own town
My county experiment has gone too well
Tho most of the population is in 2 cities
Looking at old data, Kerrysburg has 100k and Placeholder has 84k. Overall population at that time was 208k
Thankfully the county voted on to have a flood which killed like 50k of the population
But it has since rose again. The max was 225k
890 passengers waiting lol
apparently i need a bigger bus station
the holy suburban sprawl
at least I got buses coursing through it
So, uh, big content announcements for CS1 and CS2, I'll link to their Discord post rather than flood this with multiple posts they made:

Holy, that's amazing
I wonder what is going to be in the update
Very excited for that stations pack too
im adding train station so some infrastructure changes are coming
like dis
Oh, I found the flood damage map.
That is such a beautiful city
yeah but a lot of things needs to be done in it

For the 2015 game
Fucking finally
Have you ever thought about roads without any zoning, or only on one side of the road? Because we certainly have! Inspired by the amazing “Zone Tools” and “Easy Zoning” mods by River-mochi, we have now added a zoning toggle, which allows you to remove the zoning from any road where it is not wanted! You can choose to remove the zoning from either side, or both sides, depending on your preferences.
Awesome! Seems pretty solid
I'm really liking how my city is turning out tho I'm not sure how realistic it is
lemme know what yall think based on all the screenshots
You should see the CPP video. The assets look amazing! Especially the station pack.
I'll pull it up, reading the diary right now.
Oh hell, those pedestrian overpasses are something we've needed for ages.

A video from community members heading to meet Iceflake
Yeah, City Planner Plays mentioned in his last video he was being flown out to meet with Iceflake. Figure he'll have a video up in a few days.
finally got this thing popular
I need to give some public transport to it now though
coz thats too many people walking
Oh dear
Yeah, you need probably two bus lines to it: one directly from the main bus terminal to this, and another that's just circulating through the city, so people can transfer to the circulator and then to the station.
Oof
Neat
I have the bare minimum at the suburbs
and a train station
this like nice tho
so i try not to look at the suburbs
but this

I really like my subway stations
Ive tried to make them like i have them in eastern europe
meaning surrouned by pedestrian areas
as you can see it looks quite lovely
Oh and ive been rewamping my first suburb
making it more liveable
I'm thinking of either adding a subway connection and a bus connection
or a tram and bus connection
subway coz I have a 1000 capacity hospital with a subway station that goes nowhere
Subway is really expensive, so make sure your budget can handle it. But if so, go for it.
I think I can handle it
I dont even have huge taxes!
I do have a lot of industry tho...
Nice. My budget is always borderline.
what population are you at
the budget skyrockets after a certain point
I really fucking struggled at the beggining tho
Oh I haven't played in months, but usually I don't get very far. With the new update, I'm planning to try again.
WATAFAK
I just blinked for a moment and this happened
literally
it is growing
everyone wants to go to the outisde connection
PEOPLE ARE ESCAPING MY CITY LMAOO
Oh yeah, one of the bugs fixed yesterday was "people unable to leave the city."
what have they done my economy is going to crumble now
so I think this is a nice temporal solution
before I figuire out a bus route
that'll be straight at the entrance of the train station
*I wont demolish tram route afterwards
I really want to build a tram-centric city next.
