What I think might've happened is that this was a small fan game that some guys were doing for fun, and then SEGA contacted them and asked if they could use it as an official April Fools joke game, even giving the devs some help if they needed it. The developers would be paid for their trouble, but it wouldn't be an official game in the franchise so they can't actually get sales from it.

Her debut game was Sonic Rush, which established her as a princess from the Sol Dimension, sort of a parallel world to Sonic's (she's basically her world's Sonic and Knuckles rolled into one, being the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, and royalty for good measure). Sonic 06 inexplicably changed it to her not being a princess and being from the future along with Silver, with the Sol Emeralds gone. Then Sonic 06 was erased completely from the timeline, and Blaze was back to being a princess from the Sol Dimension ever since then, with Silver being the only one from the future and not officially meeting her until Sonic Colors DS (which has been declared canon) ignoring Sonic 06 entirely (except for a brief mention in Sonic Generations, but that game's continuity is a bit wonky anyway, made even wonkier by Sonic Forces).

Almost no Sonic fan in the world accepts Sega's stance regarding both Sonics, and just keep staying the course in referring to them as the same person, just aged differently.
Even many in Sega and Sonic Team unofficially have the same thought, but the higher-ups spouted bullshit officially, so they can't do anything about it.
Another piece of bullshit: Sonic isn't allowed to fail, and isn't allowed to show lots of emotion (such as sadness or depression).

And another piece: Shadow cannot be anything other than an edgy friendless bully and anti-hero. According to Sega's new stance, he sees Rouge and Omega as nothing more than teammates and tools, and not friends, contradicting years of lore, character development, and backstory.
Even Sonic 06 had better chemistry with them, with both Rouge and Omega declaring that they'd stick with Shadow even if the entire world were to seek his death.
And before you ask, yes, Ian Flynn hates these mandates with a passion and very often tries to find workarounds and loopholes in them so that he can still dish out plenty of character development without Sega's higher-ups 86'ing his work.
It's how he was able to create such an amazing dynamic with Team Dark in the IDW comics without explicitly saying that they're friends, yet still showing that they hold deep respect for each other and that they care about each other a lot more than just being "a team".
And it's also how he was able to give Sonic plenty of emotive and serious dialogue in Frontiers without violating the "no negative emotions" mandate, by simply making his friends the moody ones and him their positive encouragement.

Sonic 3 overall is a massive improvement and easily the best of the original 3 Sonic games, especially with that save file function, I had a lot of fun with the special stages on S3 although I found all of the special stages in those games to be way too quickly and disorienting
I only see S2's special stages in a better light now because in Who Murdered Sonic the Hedgehog the entire gameplay is basically the Sonic 2 special stages so I got pretty good at doing that specifically

These days, Amy and Sonic is the more canon "couple", although Ian Flynn is trying to take it in a more realistic and emotional way, rather than the whole stalker with a crush thing. At the moment though, they're still just extremely close friends with the possibility of two-sided romance happening eventually, if Sega decides to go that route.

I think the whole 'stalker' thing was cute back in the beginning, I don't think there's anything wrong with a girl having an intense crush like that on a guy she finds cool especially if you see Sonic and Amy at the time as kids which makes sense, but it definitely should go away with time and morph into a more mature relationship not only by making Amy act differently but also making Sonic not be like ''ewwww a girrrrrl'' and actually communicate and enjoy time with her

Their interactions in Frontiers definitely show that they've both matured. Amy is no longer chasing him but still actively loves him and cares about his well-being, and Sonic no longer finds her super annoying and actively tries to bring her on adventures because he's come to trust and rely on her as much as Tails and Knuckles.

I definitely don't think Sonic is opposed to any romantic relationships but in his life he just doesn't find many people to do that with, and well when it comes to sexual relationships it is aimed for kids/teens and after the super intense restrictions they put on what Sonic can and can't do as a character I doubt that aspect of Sonic is gonna get explored anytime soon so it's no surprise that isn't touched on

Those weren't in the original Sonic CD (except for the manual, I think). They were only in the cutscene from Origins, which was just released last year.
Actually, I think the first game with an in-game reference to Amy having tarot cards was Sonic Chronicles (one of her moves was "Tarot Draw").

I love how they gave each of them their own unique "boost" style. Knuckles bull-rushes forward in a drill motion, Amy has a magical monowheel, and Tails has the Tornado(!)
They could've easily just copy-pasted Sonic's moveset and called it a day, but they actually went out of their way to recreate a gameplay style reminiscent of SA2 for each of them (although Amy has a few extra moves thanks to her tarot cards).
Adventure fans are getting so much love with this game, and it's awesome to see

I remembered the one thing I disliked were these blob enemies during this futuristic level early on that would pop out from these tubes, they'd stop me in my tracks completely and pissed me off every time but maybe that's kind of the point, can't make the game too easy
