tho that means no more free insect jelly
Oh my god, the pony ideoligeon effect is adorable
yeah
You mean "Oh my [insert deity figure here]". /s
snrk
Because RNG changes it each reroll, unless certain mods make it the first thing to pop up.
Plans got derailed by a heat wave, another raider, and food poisoning. Trying to keep everyone alive before investigating the nearby hive.
Okay, a little shorthanded but gonna explore this cave to see if there's a hive left
Nope, we're all clear!

Okay, so had to go hunting to keep from starving. Then mined some more steel, got my watermill online and FUUUUUUUUU
Aaaaand a quest to suffer psychic damage on my females, but it's a Charity quest so my pawns will be mad anyway if I turn it down.
Crud, I wasn't paying enough attention to the time and it auto-failed.
Craaaaaap
yes there will be a lot of that
Well, the refugees are leaving in 7 hours so I'll be able to build my food stockpiles aga- god dammit.
Best get to growin
The first refugees are leaving AND MY GOOD COOK IS LEAVING TOO
There goes all the curry. /s
I literally cannot cook.
I think my only option is to accept the refugees and hope someone there has cooking, and then go nuts trying to hunt until my next crops are ready.
I got one with Cooking 5. It'll have to do.
can you build nutrient paste dispensers?
might hlp with the cooking
nutrient paste sucks, obviously, but it beats dying
You need enough power and resources to get that going, but that is a good idea if pressed.
I could build the nutrient paste dispenser, I suppose.
Going by a previous image, they should have enough to build.
Crap, one of my ponies got an infection.
I have a mod that helps with doctoring levels, but yes.
Nutrient paste dispensers also work with prisoners if you set up the room right. They can feed themselves, break faster, and whatnot too.
I'm getting raided by one guy with a grenade belt
Thankfully, this is the main entrance to my colony
Crap he actually got through
He threw one grenade that missed completely, got shot & tried to run but my melee pawns got him.
Probably need to melee him since he just has grenades.
Plus side, I now have frag grenades.
I think I need to narrow that entrance into more of a killbox.
now i have a machine gun
Well, nutrient paste is now on the menu.
The pawn with cooking skill decided to take rice out of the nutrient paste hopper to make a simple meal.
yeah they will use whats closest usually
Yeah, I just suspended cooking entirely for now. Nutriend paste dispenser is online and we'll live with that for a while.
FYI rice is not a great yielding crop for food
rice for fast but inefficient food
taters for growing in low quality soil
strawbs for food that dont need cooking
corn for most efficient yields, though its slow and should be guarded. lasts 60 days too
probably wanna put a wall around that paste dispenser but otherwise a good spot
raiders will target it
Fair.
There is also nutrition as well, which does something, so I tend to have multiple things happening for that bit.
Dispenser can also take up to 8 things, so feel free to expand around it a bit to take advantage of that if you want.
Excuse you, no you may NOT have pony fur.
gotta love rimworld
i just made a field for each one
i am finally home now and ican play rimworld too
i am almost at the endgame, i'm building my ship
Oh damn, nice. I've never made it that far.
I did find a neat trick from a YouTuber. If you get an Ambrosia Sprout event, just put a growing zone over it, turn off sowing, and leave on harvesting. Whenever it's done growing your pawns will automatically go collect them.
I also used this trick to put single-square growing zones on wild Healroot and Berries so my pawns will pick them when they're fully grown.
that's exactly what is happening with the ambrosias in the middle of my turrets here
Nice!
o
thats awesome
theres mods i normally use, like "allow tool" that let you select ready to harvest plants only
but thats a non-mod solution that would work
Mhm! I'm also trying something I saw in a video for my killbox entrance.
finally finished my ship and did started the startup sequence. i'm only a third of the way through it and i've already had 3 raids
my turrets are putting in overtime
still haven't lost a single colonist though
assuming that holds, i'll be leaving with 21 of them
Good luck
Finally got my killbox up.
Nice
Royal crashed, and because it's a Charity quest I had to take it.
That went fairly well.
Got another shuttle crash, but this time it's actually inside my colony.
Let's see how the killbox works out
Not bad.
nice
i love using mods like this for my defences: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3277482616
walls you can shoot through but cant be melleed though
An alpaca went mad, busted down my fence and then ran through the spike traps.
lel
Last time I played, I got a Geothermal power generator online, dug out what's going to become my new prison, and got some actual housing built for my core pawns. Also had another charity refugees quest, so I have refugees again.
Great. I have a mad bison and a pack of manhunting raccoons heading towards my killbox. The bison will make it there first, which is a problem because it'll power through at least a few traps before going down, so raccoons may make it in.
That was stupidly effective.
hell yeah
In this video, you will have your opinions reaffirmed about which specialists are the best in RimWorld. Nod along in agreement as I explain things you already know. We both know what this is, so let's just make the best of it =)
00:00 - Intro
00:25 - #1 - Leader
02:14 - #2 - Moral Guide
04:23 - #3 - Shooting Specialist
05:52 - #4 - Melee Specia...
P much
Either one can work, but given what you see in art, all of the main ones are fine with tech bits.
i think the eclesiarchy are less likely to want cybernetics, but there are always schisms that dont give a shit
launched my ship! i left with 21 colonists
I've never launched any myself
Congratulations
đ you get the reward of getting to listen to waiting for the sun
Damn good song
ok so
thats a space station
i ahve no idea what to make of the rest of this, but that is very clearly a space station in the background
and shuttles, but royalty had that already so its unclear how excited i should be about that
He's got minerals and fungus in canisters, plus a compass on his belt bag. So possibly exploration/resource gathering in new ways. The shuttles may mean we can send shuttles up for orbital debris.
Also: BIRDS
This also means my current run will likely break because of Pony mod.
Mhm, but I'll be too eager to play the new stuff.
Is it bad that the thing I'm most excited for is FISHING?
You can also fish! Different fish appear in different biomes and bodies of water. Colonists can reel in meals like tuna and salmon, as well as other strange catches.
Neat!
Performance improvements: A major part of update 1.6 is performance optimizations, especially for late game colonies that often struggle with performance. We reworked many systems to spread out their workload. The pathfinding system is now fully multithreaded and batched, and the lighting system is also multithreaded to make it much faster. There were lots of optimizations made to caravan foraging calculations, egg-laying pawns, alerts, hauling, animal pen calculations, as well as fixes to several major memory leaks.
We significantly reduced game launch times in version 1.6! For example, on our development machines version 1.5 previously launched in 18.57s with all expansions. Now version 1.6 launches in 4.66s - and that's with an additional expansion!
Note that your startup times and performance improvements may differ from our tests due to bottlenecks unique to your PC or mods.
I'm so excited, mainly because this will cut my mod list in half with all the stuff being made vanilla
Fishing is a godsend on sea ice naked brutality runs
Damn this looks awesome tho
Wait
This is Save our Ship 2
I never really played save our ship 2 because it was incompatible with combat extended, but this dlc straight up just allows for that
Holy shit, THANK YOU LUDEON
Better planning: Plans are more versatile than ever. Sketch out your base using 9 colors to differentiate your plans. Use blue for living quarters like rec rooms and bedrooms, orange for production and workshops, red for furniture, and so on. Plans are a lot easier to use too. You can copy and paste plans, rotate them, and give them names to remember what theyâre for.
Designator draw styles: Designator tools, like placing walls and floors and giving orders, now have different drawing styles - this changes their pattern when you click and drag them. Previously, there were only rectangles and straight lines. Now, you can choose from shapes like angled lines and filled or empty ovals. Great news for builders who want to add more shape variety to their base! (No more googling pixel circle generators.) Squares are also easy to make - just hold control while drawing with a designator.
Lol
Those are both mods
They're just adding mods
This whole dlc is mods
Which I don't have a problem with mind
Easier building upgrades: You can now place blueprints over certain buildings to swap materials or upgrade them. This applies to walls, conduits, doors, sandbags, barriers, fences, chairs, and beds. For example, you can place a plasteel wall blueprint over an existing wooden wall - this means you donât have to manually deconstruct the wall, wait for it to finish, and then place the new wall blueprint down.
Also a mod

Scaria rework: Scaria got scarier! Infected animals now look the part - mangy, red, and covered in sores. You really donât want to get close, because wounds from scaria-infected creatures cause âscaria infectionsâ - these behave like a normal infection, but cause full blown scaria upon reaching 100%. Humans turn too.
Holy shit yes
Note: not a complaint
Having still stuff baked in makes it more reliable and responsive and modders can more reliably work off it when building their own things
That's... oh nooo
Wonder if scaria is curable then
Combined with the addition of birds... that could be a nightmare.
Oh birds!
The whole thing is amazing. I'm not entirely sold on the gravships, but it could be fun.
It sounds like gravships are portable colonies
That's insane
You bet your ass I'm gonna build a flying colony ship
Oh, also:
Caravan camps and quality-of-life changes: Pitch temporary camps while travelling as a caravan. This creates a playable map for your colonists to eat, stabilize, and regroup when someone's bleeding out, starving, or sick with the flu. But donât get comfy - after a few days, enemies will close in. Camps can also be formed when a caravan would be considered âlostâ (like everyone becoming incapacitated from food poisoning), giving you one last shot at survival.
The caravan tab makes it a lot easier to load or unload items. And in an emergency, you can order your caravan to depart immediately - colonists will get out of there ASAP, leaving behind unpacked items, animals, and even downed friends.
I like the idea of the landmark system
Mainly because I was using a mod to do that already
The performance changes look promising
Yeah, this is going straight to the top of "must have DLC" lists.
I wonder how it will integrate with the other DLCs
Room changes: Colonists are happy with mediocre bedrooms, and theyâre less upset by awful ones. Medical beds contribute less toward a room becoming a hospital due to situations where barracks could become hospitals from a single bed. Some production buildings now get their best work done when theyâre in the right room (e.g. research benches in labs). This makes it more rewarding to build reasonable-looking bases with purpose-specific rooms, instead of stuffing everything into one big hell-chamber.
Ok that's neat
I expect new Ideology things around the new terrain & animals. Maybe one about wanting to go into orbit every so often, like the Body Modder trait.
Royalty might have quests to build gravships for royals or require you to own one for certain ranks.
Biotech may have some new mods/species, because there's a lot in the notes about new Archotech.
Anomaly... probably not much, honestly.
Anomaly was an anomaly tbh
Yeah, it's a neat DLC, but completely optional.
Really did not fit with rimworld vibe in my opinion
I liked it with the Archotech explanation for the monsters and powers. Then again, I've always enjoyed Lovecraftian stuff.
Eeeeh
Take it or leave it in my book
Yup. I turn off the events for certain runs, just because I don't want to deal with them. But once in a while it's very fun.
It's fair if it's not your vibe. It really takes over your run if you get into it, you practically dedicate your base to dealing with the Anomaly stuff.
Ah...
I'd hope for something to do with royalty considering being spread across space is kinda their gimmick
I do not want to deal with scaria-infected Canadian Murder Cobras geese.
I had to fight 8 scaria-infected grizzlies that one time, i don't want to think about doing that under this new system
To be fair that filled my meat stores for like a whole season
scaria infected animals dont give meat tho
That is an insane number of pawns.
Beta for 1.6 is up though. There might be something to that post.
Mhm, some folks are testing it and reporting a lot of speed improvements.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/1l9e3lt/psa_in_the_16_beta_be_sure_youre_making_your/
So, as you may have noticed if you read the patch notes, 1.6 includes a new system where basically every building in the Production tab* works best in a room that matches its role. What you may not realize (since it was basically irrelevant before) is that the drug lab is, in fact, a Laboratory building. Putting one in your workshop has a decent chance of flipping the room on its own (and dragging all your Workshop buildings down); if it doesn't, you'll be dealing with a fairly substantial workspeed penalty for all your drug-making endeavors.
-# *The crafting spot, butcher spot, and butcher table do not have associated rooms
gtk
They also changed it so you can't avoid the "Barracks" penalty by making a bunch of Medical sleeping spots/beds to turn the room into a "Hospital". Saw a YouTuber use that trick recently.
well you probably can if you add even more beds
I'll have to find the post, but IIRC the fix makes it so Barracks overrides Hospital.
Capped the contribution from medical beds towards a room becoming a hospital. This prevents a medical bed from turning a barracks into a hospital.
Added a âMake defaultâ button for policies.
Bills can now be renamed.
Ooof, keeping horses just got more difficult:
Horse food consumption increased to 0.86 nutrition per day (up from 0.68).

Added dev tool to set the stuff of a thing.
i did see that but thought that it just made it harder to turn into hospital
i've never even thought about doing that so its no biggie forme
This guy finally made a playlist of these videos... right before 1.6 was announced.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLs3acGYgI1-ubID1HgPX31AgC0N95GO_P&si=aSeCrsPwLzPLKNSx
Lol
I'll be looking forward to his Vanilla 1.6 playthrough.
Speaking of, he goes over the announcement and some 1.6 testing.

there are already 1992 mods for 1.6 lol
Yeah, apparently the big modders already got access so they could prepare. Guessing a ton of cosmetic mods don't actually need changed to be compatible.
I saw some YouTubers trying to use this trick to avoid the Kitchen ever getting dirty, but it doesn't work.
oof
Oh thank God that infuriated me
There was a mod for that bit it noticeably reduced performance
Yup, that's why the pathing was so bad. It's a very resource intensive calculation, so to keep the game playable it seems Ludeon originally just had the pawn start on a straight line to the destination, then check for obstacles / the fastest route... but since that could change at any time (enemies, ship chunks falling, new construction) they had to do the pathing in short bursts to keep things playable. Which led to this drunken wobble pathing.
Now that pathing is multithreaded, they can actually just do that calculation on its own and finally walk properly7.
Yay
Yeah the faith it mostly used a single core really hindered the game, multithreading solves so many issues
CAST IT INTO THE FIRE ISILDUR
This is beautiful:
Oooh that's pretty
Not very practical tho
With vanilla expanded mods it's more livable with sand and water crops
No.
I suppose you'd have to survive off of fishing
Oooh right fishing is being added
Yeah suddenly a lot more plausible, tho I dont knowhow effective fishing will be
Plus you will be able to use heavy bridges to build on top of.
Oh right, those are also default
Hehe yeah lol
Okay, yeah, this is a mod I'm always going to use:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937759575
Playthrough on 1.6 beta, if you want to see some of the new features in action.
TIL you can fix paralytic abasia with Glitterworld medicine.
yeah
TIL grenades can be used to destroy corpses.

Oh my god, I just had the dumbest idea for a themed run.
Picking three Pigskin survivors to start the game, then building a ship for them.
that reference is lost on me im afraid but sounds fun
... Mega, please watch The Muppet Show. It's an absolute classic.
i know who the muppets are, just not this specific reference
It's from the old 70s/80s series, it was a recurring bit on that show.
Basically making fun of sci fi tropes.
fair enough
Odyssey comes out on July 11, 2025
oh a release date, nice
I thought about it, but decided to wait for full release. Sadly I'm working for nearly a week straight when Odyssey releases, so I won't get to play right away.
Plus side, that means any big bugs should be patched by the time I get around to it.
Also mods updated
I think all the mods I'm interested in have already updated. I'm mostly just doing UI/QoL mods. The only big change is Ponies of the Rim, and I'll have to see if that's up to date yet.
There are two pony mods, one that adds equipable plushies that's already updated
Is cloudy canvas in that one too?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3520130671 oh my god what a mod
Oooh, that's pretty awesome.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3328729902 they did a health tab mod too, dunno how good that is in comparison tho
I can see how that might be useful, but it seems a bit overkill to me.
depends if you have any surgery mods
I barely play with mods at all.
It's time for our first RimWorld: Odyssey campaign! We will be playing as similar-to-but-legally-distinct-from Federation-types (also also Futurama Robots?)

We eatin' good on the Rim today!
All Vanilla Expanded Mods Now Compatible with RimWorld 1.6 & Odyssey DLC!
We're excited to announce that all Vanilla Expanded mods are now updated and fully compatible with RimWorld 1.6 and the Odyssey DLC. This massive update involved over 100 mods, with both minor tweaks and major rewrites, and weâre proud to say everything is ready ahead of the DLC launch.
A few mods are not included because they're being reworked, and there's no point updating the old versions. (Furniture Expanded - Security; Factions Expanded - Ancients; Factions Expanded - Mechanoids.)
Ponies of the rim will be updating for odyssey soon right?
Yeah, they are dependent on Humanoid Alien Races, so were waiting on that to update.
Would be interesting, but hard to balance. Unless they give them a unique racial ability.
Or crystal ponies or batponies or yaks or other mlp races
soon
Yeah, I'd prefer to have batponies, crystal ponies, and kirin first.
Well, gonna go for a minimalist mod list to try out Odyssey
I'd love to stream it, but my husband is on a conference call.
Yaks special ability is to destroy walls and barriers
... I am afraid to find out what a "rat habitat" is.
Okay, I think I found where I want to crashland, this sounds awesome
Of course you'd chose Furry Lake
Okay, wow, I was not expecting this.

oooh that stuff is gonna be sludge
those arent new? or ive been playing modded so long lol
I have, the last couple of times I dipped.

Shoo be dooâŠ
Oh, my colonists:
Marat is the new geneline in Odyssey, Starjack: not good at melee, but vacuum-resistant and temperature-tolerant.
oh right! vaccum!
I apparently have a pet crow... that can be trained to attack.
Makes sense, everyoneâs got a plan until they get a crow in the face
Considering how smart crows and ravens are, I wouldnât be wholly shocked if they could be trained to do something like that IRL, although their fragility makes the utility a bit dubiousâŠ
Well, guess we're going to see what's behind Door #1...
Okay, that's just teasing us.
Been lucky so far
Apparently the Avali mod and Alpha Genes mod work on 1.6, so my plan when I get home and can actually play is to do a classic shipwrecked scenario as, well, Avali.
they were updated a while ago, yes
-# shitshitshitshit
Oh you stupid fucking crow
Welp, this is going to be a mood hit for Boone
đŠââŹ
Well, let's see if that was worth it
Free food
Ah, sonovabitch, I didn't see the Wasp drone!
Well, that got people hurt. And the box contained... a map
I think it's time to just make some basic quarters in the areas I've unlocked.
Alright, going to set up base in the starting two rooms. Reina is self-tending, and Boone & Andrews are married so they get a double bed in their own room.
Oh neat, apparently pawns will read maps for recreation
(Took a pause to make a sammich)
So I think my plan is to wall off part of that hallway, turn it into a freezer with a small airlock outside (purple are doors), and put a nutrient paste dispenser into the wall of the "dining room".
Pawns can swim for recreation!

OMG they even submerge up to their necks!
oooh wow theres literally no dirt at all
Guess you'll be eating meat.
im hoping the ancient weapon stockpile might save me
this.. is gonna take a while
im gonna go install one of the survival mods
After a night's sleep, we have power and some lights.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3188968318
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3183591922
i cant do naked brutality without these
there is a desert and arctic expansion but those arent 1.6 yet
Okay, so this Ancient Military barrier is actually impassible.
Gonna have to break it to save me some walk time.
I had to amputate Rena's leg to save her from infection. đŠ
tough call
better leggless than renaless
yeah my pawn is starving, not much of a suprise
unfortunately all the starting animals left and i didnt realise how many resources i needed for planter boxes
im a try again
what! last time i beat 2 iguanas with a stone club with zero injury, this time i died to one
Oof
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of
steelarchotech.
I am running a Transhumanist ideoligeon, so she'll be happy when she gets a nice leg replacement.
Oooh, I bought all the Components off a travelling merchant, and he left me an extra as a gift.
Iâm thinking about what to do in Rimworld once I get home, and Iâm thinking an Avali crash landing (as above) on a post-apocalyptic rimworld with just tribals (no insects/mechanoids/Empire), on Peaceful difficulty with some tweaks.
Endgame goal would be to build a ship and escape the planet, probably.
Although I kind of like the idea of instead settling into a permanent colony that might become a nucleus for rebuilding.
Less clear endpoint, though.
Neat!
Iâve always been more of a builder in strategy games and itâs been a very long time since I properly played Rimworld, so not starving is likely to be enough of a challenge
Ooh i like the idea of a post-apocalyptic world like that
Well, the rimworld you land on is already implied to be post-apocalyptic, with the insects and mechanoids being left over from whatever conflict left it that way and the tribals being descended from the survivors of the war.
So itâs not a very big jump to make it just Fallout or Mad Max straight up.
I'm interested in a tribal start, i just don't want to get my shit kicked in by pirates and mechanoids with lasers
Fair enough!
Even though unicorns come with OP lasers already
I mostly donât really care for the base defense aspect of play, like I said I enjoy building and tend to neglect defenses.
I'd just like to have to do the whole tech tree, last time I started 1/4 of the way into it
Also i know more things now, i can improve how i develop the base over time
I havenât played in so long Iâm basically starting from scratch.
And I'd add a couple mods that manage medical things and stuff better
maybe I'd add a mod that lets colonists have children
I have Biotech, so they can have kids by default
Ah damn, I forgot, you have to research Fishing.

I'm currently hiding indoors from a Manhunter squirrel anyway.
A bit more justified thoughâŠ
Oh god, I haven't seen VG Cats in years

So I took the city name from the map tile, and decided to go full furry for my faction.
You don't have biotech?
Easily best dlc
One-legged Rena is hunting a buck ... in the lake.
Protip: If you construct a Wall Light behind a Military Barrier, your pawn can deposit the materials, but will just stand there instead of constructing it.
I'm having to destroy it to get back there.
Ugh, Wasters
Hm. Good melee, but the drawbacks don't seem worth capturing
Well, apparently if you don't forbid doors, pawns will just walk right into unexplored rooms.
Hm. I did down her.
Meat
Heh. No cannibalism for this run.
Organs
Possibly
Nice to meat you
Build a gravship - your flying home - to travel across the planet. Settle in new biomes filled with diverse landforms and exotic wildlife. Go on quests to hunt the alpha thrumbo or raid ancient cryptosleep bunkers. Launch into orbit and scavenge tech from space stations and asteroids. But out in the void, an ancient machine mind stirsâŠ
Get Ri...
Discord's overlay crashed Rimworld, so I had to roll back to the last autosave... which is before that raid.

It gave me a Heat Wave instead. :/
... and a raid.
So I downed the Waster, had Rena try to heal him without medicine... and he got up & started attacking her.
She killed him by smacking him in the finger with her rifle.

Not going to do it just yet, I want to clear out this tile first.
Oh niiice
Yup. It pops after 12 days on your map, if you didn't do the Gravship start.
A lynx started hunting my Starjack and downed him. Gotta try to save him.

Oh great, now I'm in Silent Hill
Had another raid, thankfully he came in from the most defensible angle possible. Downed him, tried to treat him on the spot, he got up and started attacking so Rena killed him.
I guess trying to save enemies in the field is just never going to work.
Eh, you get so many chances though
I added several people to my colony by almost killing them
So at this point, one-legged Rena is the only colonist upright.
Alright. Boone healed enough to get up.
Thinking back on it, i only ever had 2 married couples and one were lesbians
So i might have got one kid out of it
Welp. Boone wandered off to try and haul something from the edge of the map, and a lynx hunted & downed her. My other pawns are moving so slow, I don't think they'll save her.
.. nope
Aaaand literally neither of the survivors can do Plant work.
Holy crap, another raid.
Oh no
... Andrews never re-equipped his gun
Well, we still survived it.
Rimworld!
Yeah. If I can manage to handle the next couple days, I may risk trying to turn my researcher into a Mechanitor.
Yeeeah, I don't think so.
... we had a Mad Donkey event. Fine, I'll keep everyone ind-
Daze: Andrews
Goddammit
Donkey downed him, Rena managed to kill the donkey
Damn you're just getting bent over a barrel aren't you
Or you're fast-forwarding a lot between raids
Yeah, and this is Strive to Survive.
I think the raids aren't coming too fast, but these damn predators hunting my people have done real damage.
Do you have spike traps and bottlenecks yet?
Bottlnecks, yes. I was literally building spike traps when the lynx attacked.
Now my builder is down
How many colonists do you have?
Scaria?
Doesn't show it
That shouldn't stop it
It can cause the body to rot
I made like 3 years of grizzlyburgers from 8 scaria bears in my run
mmmmmm mad bear disease burgers
Grizzlyglizzies
In my run i had a severe lack of good crafters for a long time
So i struggled to make enough clothing and armor and weapons
But my investment in hops and cocoa paid off and i was able to buy most things from sales of beer and chocolate
Oh and leather, i had so much leather from my huge meat farm and the aforementioned lack of pawns available to craft it into anything
I'm just glad you don't have to tan the leather yourself, that would take forever
I don't have much choice
Make him sow the fields so he's the one the predators go after
Well, he can do some construction. And he has a very small Hunting skill, so I can put him to work fishing once that's researched. And he can research, so tthat's good.
He can finish building the anima pen I was making for the ducks.

Welp, that's getting butchered.
I had so many of those
They're good haulers once they're trained
And tanky, they'll survive raids. Also they leave free fur everywhere
Okay, for some reason Alexae (the cult survivor) was able to butcher the donkey and the megasloth

Cassandra is feeling sorry for me. Just had drop pods of Guinea Pig meat arrive.
be prepared for a big raid tomorrow
Built the dromedaries their own pen, since the duck pen didn't have enough food.
My pen was a huge area that was half hay field and half cocoa orchard
Next time I'll build "airlocks" at the gates though, so all the animals don't make a break for it when some dipshit drops a log on the gate tile and keeps it open
Though i think there's a mod for Don't Drop Shit In Doorways
dontblockdoor hasnt been updated since 1.4 :(

Alright, I explored the first building fully. Going to plan out uses.
Four purple rooms at the top will be bedrooms. To the right will be hospital and workshop.
In the middle of the structure is going to be a prison divided into four rooms, with access to a nutrient paste dispenser (teal blue).
The lower room in yellow will become the Sanctuary for rituals.
Main problem right now is I basically have no one who is good at Plants, and I have some crops that need harvested & I'm out of wood.
Losing is funâŠ:P
I wound up having to make Rena plant cut/grow, so she can chop some wood & then try to harvest our crops before winter.
That'll be where I leave off for today.
heh. I've basically put aside everything except Fallout 76 & Rimworld at this point.
i like the horses in Rimworld
horses are great
my colonists need meat
noooo !!!
My ponies enjoyed many a horseburger
You can use the Scenario Editor to give yourself a starter gravship regardless of your start. You just won't have the research Basic Gravtech to start, so you'll have to learn that on your own.
I have a mod that lets me arrest folks, so that doesn't happen as often.
Get Ri...
oh good i built some grow pots out of slate and my rice is 70% grown, im suffering malnutrition so this is great
wild woman moves in
wild woman harvests my crops, poorly i might add

i kinda dont want to bludgeon her to death for her meat tho
but i maye have to
:(
she dead...
...oh my next batch of rice reached a harvestable state
might not have needed to do that
she had good skills and an interesting geneline
oh well
a trader came along and i was able to buy 50 food! that will last me a few days while more rice grows
food has been sorted
thanks to this place being a desert, its always growing season, and i built a wall around my grow pots so no more wild people taking them
now i can start growing other things, like cloth and wood
I started the new game I discussed yesterday last night, but I spent so long fiddling with my ideoligion and choosing the start tile that I didn't get to actually play any
mood
Also, it turns out my starting characters are 24 year old dad, 17 year old teen pregnant daughter (father: unknown), and 14 year old daughter's friend
there are worse starts
(Dad is 278 calendar years old, daughter is 45, and friend is 395, so there's obviously cryptosleep nonsense going on)
Well yeah, I did the "regenerate until you have decent stats and passions" thing.
...dont think about it
Both daughter and friend are coma children, which tracks and kind of explains their friendship.
I had a stupid idea in bed last night: a Gravship start with Raider ideoligeon, customized around a Viking raider theme.
Valhallism, Raider meme, with a Zeushammer relic weapon named Mjolnir. Melee specialist titled "Lord of Thunder."
spending ages hacking this open leads to a whole underground complex on a new map
neat
this is the reason i chose this map tile as my base btw
theres two doors i need to hack to explore more, but this is super neat!
i might move my base down here, if i can figure out stable power and food solutions, probablym ushrooms for both
Weâve just launched our new, limited-edition Odyssey collection: rimworld.store
The collection includes a RimWorld bomber jacket, centipede plush, Odyssey tee, and hive queen plush. đđ
finally felt confident enough to hack the rest of the doors
found some bugs, those were a real threat, and another single drone. not a lot of extra loot but i did find a polux seed and a charge rifle, so i guess i cant complain too much
most of the rooms had tables and ruined cooking rooms for some reason tho
im wondering if i start moving everything down here or close it off
i dont think raiders can get here
I love these bunkers, but they're full of wasps which mess up my shooting pawns badly
this one is on my starting map
im playing naked brutality
90% of my steel has come from it, and its not a lot of steel
They can spawn with medicine and survival meals too, so they're generally just really helpful
it did! i found 16 of each
food isnt a problem anymore tho, but the medicine is nice
tell you what, getting stuff out of external maps is a pain... you gotta tell your pawn to add stuff to inventory, then tell your pawn to leave map, this breaks your control of pawn so you gotta switch maps and tell them to go underground and manually pick up more items and then haul them to the surface
its why im hesitating if i wanna move underground
I can build the building that lets you have a permanent colony and a gravship simultaneously, so I thought about settling on a tile that had 3 of these bunkers, but that is the reason I chose not to. It takes too much time for pawns, especially if they're injured from the wisp robots that I hate, to haul one thing at a time. It also clutters the ui as all 3 of the bunkers register as separate maps
I haven't seen enemies move into the underground though, so it could be quite useful to hide out during a raid or dangerous event
i think if i started underground, or had the ability to go there when i started the map, id move there. just ignore the surface completely as much as i can
but yeah they need to find a better way to handle sub-maps like this
It's still a really fun landmark to clear, especially when it has beds and food built in so you don't have to leave half way through clearing it
like i said, this one just had lots of kitchens
still, thanks to mods, it gave me plenty of steel and some components
decided to cheat and give my pawn a modded carry capacity gene to help with the tedium, then im just gonna seal it up
Can't blame you, I'd go insane if I had only one hauling pawn to move stuff in and out
more than one pawn wouldnt help! youre still having to manually select what to haul
WAIT YOU CAN ENTER THEM LIKE CARAVANS
FUCK THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW
Yeah I should've said, it makes them gather all the items and put them at the entrance/exit
buys all 4 medicine from caravan
caravan drops 10 more as a gift
aight not gonna complain about magic medicine
royal tribute collector gave me a gift of silver
I was generating a character today and acidentally popped off furry space raptor Sam Bridges
But with guns!
It's courier 6!
Oh lol, even better.
Unfortunately I ended up playing barely any yesterday, and instead reading about the lore for a completely different game I have no intention of playing
I think this is because I don't understand Rimworld well enough to set reasonable intermediate and short-term goals, so I'm not motivated to play it because once the game starts I don't really know what to do next, but of course only through playing can you learn that sort of thing...
There's some way of treating it like a caravan, as long as you unforbid the items when you're leaving it'll all deposit around the entrance aboveground. Saw a streamer do it.
Oh you found that.
Therr
If you want, you could stream it, I don't mind giving advice
In general tho it's a sandbox, if you want to turn raids off completely, go for it, become drug lords, aim for royalty... once basic base is set up the sky isn't even the limit anymore
The Rimworld wiki is really good for that. Though it needs updates for some of the new content.
i have never looked at this
Right, I know it's a sandbox and it's up to me to set my goals...I have 100 hours in it or so (mostly way way back though). The issue is more...conceptual, you might say. An example might help. Right now, I'm thinking of doing a game in CK3 starting as Haestinn of Nantes and forming Brittany (small-bore stuff for him, but whatever), then playing it as a tall kingmaker, putting relatives on thrones but not holding land outside of Brittany, up to 1453.
When I imagine that goal, I can already see a lot of the intermediate steps I need to get there: I need to conquer Brittany quickly, for example, with his starting armies, and then probably convert to Christianity, maybe even swear fealty to West Francia, to escape any counterattacks. I'll need to put my Steward on development, use my cash to build holdings. I might want to get prestige from raiding before converting to institute Scandinavian Elective succession to help manage succession. And so on and so forth. I have a pretty clear idea in my mind of what I need to do, in other words, to get to that endgame goal.
For Rimworld it's more like "Start game -> ??? -> Escape planet!" I know where I'm starting and where I want to end, but I don't have the intuitive feel built up from more or less successful games of all of those intermediate steps I should take, or even want to take at each individual phase of the game. The result is that it becomes easier to look at other people playing or read about it or just play a different game I have a better handle on instead.
well forget the "-> escape planet" part, its optional
personally i play rimworld with one colonist because i focus on that single colonists story
turn them into a mechanist so i can ease the workload with bots
after that... what happens happens
Right, I was using it as an example of an endgame goal that I want to pursue, like having a tall Brittany. The issue is that I need an overarching goal to pursue or else I get bored and lose interest.
well
mods!
one thing you can do is focus on one aspect of the game, such as making a large ranch, building a big gravship, aiming for royalty, gathering gene packs and making genetic super people or even ac tually doing anomaly related stuff for once
Ideology can help with that. Works to focus you towards a certain playstyle.
You can choose an egalitarian one and help as many other people as you can. You can be a raider and plunder your neighbors. Or a drug lord, enslaving others to work your fields so you can sell drugs to traders.
Royalty lets you focus on making your pawns... well, royalty, and getting all the benefits of that.
What Iâm thinking right now is using a different Avali mod and play nomadicallyâstaying in a tile for a quadrum or two then packing everything up in a caravan and moving on.
Whenever I get to the point of having a gravship obviously switch to that.
One of the advantages of this would be avoiding getting bogged down in designing a big base, since it would all be getting thrown away anyway.
Yeah, Quill18 did a Gravship start and quickly discovered how fun it was to move every time things got hairy on a map. Plus you don't have to care about making permanent defenses or anything like that.
Unfortunately, Uuugggg the author of many praised and core mods has passed away. It was announced by his mother in the Ctrl f mod comments section.
Mhm.
well i hope they're at peace, wherever they are
il pray to god to pass on a message: 1.6 when?
Apparently his mother is looking for someone to take over some of his mods.
Also, people in the Reddit thread are asking Tynan to add him to the list of in-game names.
that would be neat
and yeah i saw the post
https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/1lzxi1q/something_to_break_the_spaceship_streak_a_humble/
This is very cool and efficient, I will be taking notesâŠ
Oooh, nice. I should do something similar, my current game has a small "courtyard" in one of the buildings. Which I discovered by taking down part of the wall.
You cannot chain grav extenders, they must be connected to the main core, so if you wan't to build the longest ship possible, the core has to be in the center.
I'm considering streaming Rimworld tomorrow. If I do, what would people like to see?
Naked brutality start >:)

What about DLC?
Anomaly and Biotech are 10% off
Ideology and Royalty are 15% off
Hm
They're worth full price
Well ideology and biotech are
Royalty is great
Anomaly... I dunno really, it's too niche in my opinion
Anomaly is definitely niche, for people who enjoy cosmic horror. But it also adds flamethrowers, so that's a consideration.
i should pick up the rest of the dlc, i hav royalty but the total cost is owie as someone whos average game price is ÂŁ6
Yeah, it's expensive. I'd rank the DLC priority as:
- Odyssey
- Biotech
- Ideology
- Royalty
- Anomaly
I personally love Anomaly, but I can admit it's a very specialized playthrough, and only has a few things that affect the core gameplay. While Odyssey, Biotech, and Ideology add tons of replayability to the base game.
That's awesome
why are they so BEEG
One raid per day

I also add 100 meteorites in a day
But after filling the map there is no drop meteorites
i can recommend biotech ideology and the new one, royalty is alright but anomaly is hit or miss tbh
its too nich compared to the others, more an isand of content than something that integrates itself with the rest of the game

btw i finally got aorund to building one of these in game
it adds a bunch of animated balls to the pit, when your pawn gets into the pit, a bunch fly across the room
and they react to your mouse! you can just push them around the pit, they dont leave its square confines tho
weirdly high-quality mod
apparently when you build them, they generate a new ancient stockpile that you can just explore

> "wow this is really defensible"
> there are four insect hives in the caverns```

thought y'all might get a laugh out of this
Can I survive 100 days in Rimworld as a family of goodhearted people. That means no murder, no kidnapping, and no drug farms.
Hey look its the description of rimworld

I used the first one and found it was awesome
I do not like the title of the second one
its just a mod that adds plushies
Ah
I'll wait for it to go on sale
Should I be buying any DLCs?
And are they necessary such as the case in Paradox titles?
biotech, ideology and oddesy yes, royalty maybe, anomaly...if you like that kind of thing
and the game rarely goes on sale
necessary? no, but the three i listed ad significant amounts of content that are worth getting

One more question: Does this mod have alicorns?
Because the steam only says earth pony, pegasus and unicorn
I donât know, I havenât played it
I just pulled it to demonstrate that such a mod exists.
oh
Huh
And is there OP mods in Rimworld?
Like Stellaris Gigastructures/ACOT
duh
many op and cheat mods
many end-game mods too, and and-game vanilla features
especially with the DLCs
Ah
I'm kinda limited on money
So if I get the game I'm thinking 1 between Royalty and Biotech
Thanks
this mod does not have alicorns afaik
I think the game is trying to tell me something.
Paid Volcanic Winter? Fear Pods? What does it mean?
im not sure where the confusion is
you can get paid to have a volcanic winter
fear pods are new to me but either you're going out to space to find pods or pods dropp with stuff inside thts scary
Climate change really was an inside job
Basically they're offers to have something bad happen on your current map tile, in exchange for a reward.
Okay then...
ah so a mechanoid attack
Basically, though it says they may stay dormant. I'm going to see if I get the reward immediately, or if I have to clear them out.
If I get the reward immediately, my ass is accepting the Volcanic Winter as well, grabbing all the rewards, and flying away.

Jesus christ the game has it out for me
This is in addition to the quests.
"Fuck this ship tile!"
https://youtu.be/hm5KI8zSeVs?si=qhx9mz_bQCIgrELW
I did have to defeat the mechanoids. Fight didn't go amazingly, but I did it. So now to haul in the treasure, take the winter, and GTFO.

I did wind up leaving that tile, and some faction got mad at me for "polluting".
Any way to blow it up from orbit?
Nah, once you leave a tile you can't interact with it anymore.
Oh well.
There are mods that remove that IIRC
Oh dear. A boomalope went mad, and a tribal caravan arrived right after.
And now's the perfect time to call in the mech ship so I can make a Mechanitor.
Lol
Dew it
Lol
... one of the people I captured & converted just seduced my vampire.
Nice XD
Now if only I had room to give them their own bedroom.
I thought vampires were supposed to be the seducers, not the seduced!
Right?!
I could see this as being a fun story, tbh.
TIL you can actually go into other towns and destroy them. If you destroy a raider town, you gain faction rep with all the other factions.
ye
I definitely plan to land on some of these raider towns and wipe them out then. Getting real tired of impid raids.
Sweet!
I may have a chance to stream this weekend. Unfortunately, I lost my Space Vikings run due to a conflict, so I'd have to start a new one.
Nooo
It's okay, I have ideas for all of these that should be fun.
How hard is this game's learning curve?
Eeeeeeeeeeh
Hard to say?
Theres a lot of difficulty options, you can tailor your experience very finely, turn any challenge off entirely if you want, start with super humans, mod out annoying aspects...
ah
I vote for a playthrough with Masque's pony OCs. She is open to the idea.
Ooooh yeah, that sounds cool

Aww, I'm sorry. I'll try to get another day to stream for you.
Alright, so we're going with the spooky option! This one I'm not as familiar with, but I do want to try it out.
This will probably be on Sunday, since I'll be helping out my mother Saturday.
yeah it keeps fucking changing
everything changes every week
shes dying tho, deteriorating at a fast pace
I'm sorry you're having to go through this. It's never easy.
the stress for me is when things get rearranged
Yeah, that makes everything more difficult.
oh apparently my aunt, the one doing most of the work here, the one who is power of attorney, is getting a PIP review
as in, most of her income is being reviewed, and that will fuck over her income
just a lotta bullshit all at once
God, I'm so sorry. That's horrible. đ
I have bad news for Reinor, this map is getting destroyed when I take off in my gravship.
I'm guessing it auto-fails if you take off without a grav anchor on the map. :/
Aaand I had to reload anyway because my hunter accidentally hit one of the locals when shooting.
oh nooo
Ah, good, I got it back.
i did not know masque could commit warcrimes in games
It did not actually auto-fail on takeoff.
whats the car mod? doesnt looks like vanilla vehicles expanded

They need a Toyota Hilux mod. The memes/IRL usage sells that.
There we go then.

I plan on streaming tomorrow around noon EDT-ish, will probably run 3-4 hours if I can.
Need me to record?
Nope, this time I'll be on my desktop, so it should be fine. I figured out what was wrong on my Mac, so hopefully next time on that I should be able to record too.
Okay, sounds good.
LAST CHANCE to grab the Odyssey collection before it's gone!
âĄïž 11 hours remain: rimworld.store
Happily, not tempting: no thrumbo
I wonder if thereâs a mod that lets you play as anthro thrumbos out there. I would guess they would play somewhat like yttakinâŠ
Hm. That's a nifty idea.
Theres a thrumbokind race out there, or was for 1.5
But the really interesting thing is the sentient animal mod lol
Just make any regular animal into a pawn! Why not!
Yes they will want a real bed now
And real food
I saw that mod, I loved the pic of an elephant with a gun strapped to it.
Thrumbo with a minigun
I wish i could have given my megasloth army miniguns
Welp, my recording the other day wound up being 8 Gb. Downloading it to my iPad Mini so I can edit it for YouTube.

About how big my playthroughs when I was beta-testing Station to Station were.
I think... I gave google a fit when I tried to get them to the devs.
Hi everyone, we just released a small update for RimWorld. Have you reached Odysseyâs ending? Thereâs now a new epic song that plays! We also fixed an issue where quest shuttles attempted to land on water, which caused them to teleport into your buildings. This update should be compatible with all savegames and mods. oof
Comments suggest that it is hitting the HOI4 folks as well.
Its hitting a bunch of games
Yeah, Stellaris got hit as well.

biotech is very expensive
so i might have to settle with royalty
or no dlc for that matter
biotech has the most content, thats why its so expensive
It's kinda crazy how much is in Biotech when you start messing with its systems. Mechanitors, biosculpting, gene alteration, new threats, etc.
wrong channel?
dammit. i am not awake.

This is a fantastic site for planning out your Rimworld base or Gravship:
http://gridpapr.com/
Online grid-based design or layout wireframe creation, collaboration and sharing of documents and ideas. Quick way to visualize the layout of a webpage, interface, or any other design.
Yeeeah. Plus side, you don't have to get everything all at once, so you can budget for when you want new DLC.
I used this to help design an "outrigger" gravship:
http://gridpapr.com/edit/cbcf8e0f83caabf933f8963f4d3cd986
base game alone is like 80% of my budget
i don't think i'm affording any dlcs anytime soon

oof
My first Rimworld stream! This is an Anomaly playthrough with all DLC. The audio is a bit of a mess, but hopefully good enough to enjoy the playthrough. Future videos will be shorter.
Audio isn't great, will have to work on that next stream.
So is your avatar a Rimworld themed raccoon? đ€Ș
Hee. I took my new design for my fursona and pasted it over the Rimworld character.
Oh lol that's great
Glad you like it!
oh thank god, something more updated than rimpy
The biggest changes are that they now do everything better in space at the cost of doing everything worse on the planet, and also can now work plant jobs. The other two changes are a shift of melee skill from poor to awful and from cold tolerant to super-cold tolerant which should hopefully let them deal with the cold of space without a suit. This has also led to a slight decrease in metabolic efficiency resulting in them needing a bit more food.
I've never used anything like that, but good to know.
I haven't either, but i may try it out.
Its a godsend if you're using a semi large amount of mods
good time to enter

Was planning to continue streaming today, but my allergies are going nuts. x.x

Inspired by the "Future Tech" from Sid Meier's Civilization series (especially one from Civ 6), this mod adds a new research tab called "Repeatables" with a repeatable research project.
Once the project is fully researched, it grants your colonists a small incremental stat buff, randomly chosen from a list. The project then resets its progress to zero, allowing it to be researched again indefinitely. You can view the cumulative buffs in the research projectâs info panel.
Naked Brutality startââââââthough I opted to set up a line of traps to crack open the ancient.
oh dear, is the ancient some kind of animal?
Every starting colony map has what's called and ancient danger in it
You crack ot open for some nice loot... and some randomised enemies
Might be mechanoids, insects, usually contains ancient soldiers in crypto sleep
Yes have super big mechanical rats, need use traps give them come point surprise.
Inside internally hides gold cheese throne, satisfy one celebration-like oil soda water chocolate
miehehehehe
What?
good luck with the fight
l have traps the will be ââ tarp
And the soldiers may be:

- Neutral

been playing with a lot of the Vanilla Expanded mods
I now have centralized air conditioning
vanilla expanded is fantastic
real
I still need to build some chemfuel shit
tbh, I'm probably just gonna send enemy prisoners into a drilling outpost on the Mainland
and call it a day
lol
just chuck their deliveries in
Empire has also been a godsend
I have a special hatred for domestic resource extraction
only industrial production must occur in the homeland
I wish I could just get this as a mod. I don't really care about most VE stuff, but central air would be fantastic.
it's from Vanilla Temperature Expanded
I might look into that one then, thank you.
vanilla expanded adds a lot of individual things, i recommend looking at individual mods from it
recycling is a pretty reasonable way to get rid of wasepacks for example
God, yeah, I don't know why Vanilla completely refuses to give you a way to remove waste packs.
Oh, huh. I never did find those.
they're late game machanist stuff
you gotta fight the mechanist bosses to get the next teir of signal chip
Ah, alright. I still need to do a full mechanitor run. So far the two I tried died horribly in the early game.
oof
The first one, I just didn't get defenses quick enough & the first raider knifed me to death.
The second one, I was exploring an abandoned chemfuel refinery. Spotted a Hunter Drone in a room, and thought I could lure it into an empty room... but it was too fast, went off in the doorway and set the chemfuel shelves on fire.
You can imagine how that went.
well i assume

Rimworld Odyssey has added a lot of new animals to tame, train and fight alongside. With the expansion of what you can train your pets to do, and the powerfull new abilities given to some animals, its more important than ever to know which animals are worth taking into your colony.

the mod Vanilla Races Expanded - Sanguophage adds the drain casket that looks like that
you put prisoners in it and it drains blood from them automatically, even letting you put it into tanks for convenient long-term storage for food for your Sanguophages (vampires)

Playing a new Rimworld game. A kid I rescued has become an "adult" (age 13), so now I get to pick a trait.
Gee, I wonder which one.
Hypersensitive isnt bad if you want psycasts from royalty
Yeah, I considered it. But I don't have any yet, and I'm not going for a Royal playthrough, so Kind seems a better option. That way he's not miserable every time a psychic drone hits.
Fair

Found out why Noobert has been taking some weird sponsorships lately. Apparently he went to visit his fiancee in the Philippines back in May, and getting her a visa to come to the USA has been a nightmare. So he's trying to get money any way he can.
Yeah, not good planning on their part. :/
depends when they started

Shuttles arriving to pick up a pawn on a pocket map will now land on the parent map instead.

Yeah, I saw some folks using it to basically crash into undergroind areas.
