A random guy on Reddit was able to make a warm and cold variant for the sheep that worked with all the colors. It's a dumb choice for Mojang to just split up the colors between the biomes and call it good. I'm not saying the devs themselves are lazy overall, but this is a lazy choice.

I was there when this video came out, and the person who is voicing it is an old friend of mine. Remember, I did not call the devs lazy, I said that this particular decision is the laziest one. Both things can be true at the same time.

Except that this wasn't just an "idea" post. Mojang already has all of the tools necessary to add new sheep models and spawning algorithms. All they have to do is basically just copy from the cow/chicken/pig and use it for the sheep instead. The only thing that changes is the wool colors, but again, they already have a fix for that. Just split each sheep variant into its own subsection and give it the exact same wool color code the main sheep already has.

Problem solved. Easy. It could take any developer a couple hours to implement and clean up a bit at most. Literally the only thing that would be new is the sheep model. That's it.

This is VERY different from saying that "modders do it better" when it comes to full-scale updates, which I don't agree with.

Again, the devlopers aren't lazy on their own. But this one particular decision is lazy.

Because they already have everything they need.

I think Mojang would have raised the idea of sheep variants, and as they iterated through climate based designs for the other farm animals they would've got concepts of sheep variants too. Then come to a conclusion for one reason or another that it'd be better to just use the wool colours

I read some feedback that said that all the unnatural colors for sheep (blue, red, orange, etc.) could generate in the actual villages in pens, along with hints towards how to dye sheep nearby, thus explaining how the villages have colored beds. Pink sheep will still rarely spawn in the wild as normal.

Ooooooh, I've got some feedback regarding the inventory UI, lol.

We need auto-sorting options in the inventory, sorting items by hand is a pain. Also the ability to access the off-hand items from the inventory screen would be wonderful. This applies both to the inventory screen and to chest inventory screens.

I'd also love to see a feature that highlights newly picked-up items. This will make it easier to see what you've just picked up and where it is in your inventory.

Another feature I'd like to see added is something similar to the creative mode "favorited" inventory layout tabs, but for the survival mode hotbar instead, where you can switch from one tab to the next. This will make switching out the hotbar items much faster and smoother, allowing you to have a tab for combat and a tab for building, and being able to switch them on the fly.

Regarding the crafting system:

Even with the recipe book, the crafting system can still be overwhelming for new players. The recipe book needs more organizing with more tabs and less clutter, and the recipe book GUI needs an overhaul that enables scrolling instead of a dozen pages to find one item.

Finally, the method of choosing a color or material type of a certain block (such as wooden stairs/slabs/fences/etc. or colored glass) needs to be redone. It isn't intuitive for new players, it's too easy to accidentally pick the wrong option, and the visual of having two items behind each other looks more like a visual glitch than a hint at a menu. Something that could instead be tried would be a sub-GUI similar to the bundle (hinted at with a small, possibly animated caret symbol arrow in the corner like this ^), but instead of choosing a visual of the recipe you choose the item itself, and then it shows you the recipe in the crafting menu. This will make it much easier to pick your desired item option, rather than having to squint at a squashed recipe visual.

Meh. Not a fan of it. Looks kinda cheap, and it isn't necessary. On top of that, it replaces the XP bar, which is a big no-no, and I don't like line-based player/POI/"quest" locators like these because they are pretty much impossible for me to read correctly. I have the same issue with the one in Skyrim.

It would be better if the locator was an arrow indicating what direction you should take at the top of the screen or something. Maybe a new feature for the compass?

So it would be, just for an example: Alex skin face, 3000 SE (Alex is 3000 blocks away to the south east).

But even with this, it would still be useless for huge servers, since it will only locate the closest player, not the player you actually want to locate, unless there was a toggleable list of players you can choose from.

They would've been better as a natural-spawning mob in the End, like they were originally.

Iirc they would've encircled End cities and provided a challenge for players who got hit with shulker bullets and floated outside.

But then that idea was scrapped in favor of them fully being based around the insomnia mechanic.

So, as it turns out, the leaks may have been fake after all. Yeah, shocker, I know, but in my defense the supposed leaker was extremely convincing with their stuff, and it was detailed just perfectly to, ahem, "Mojang specifications".

My evidence towards the leaks being fake was that the leaker posted a video that he claimed was audio from the Minecraft Live, but it sounds like it's AI, and the fact that none of the teasers from Mojang line up with the leaks (besides the snow ball, and even that is very marginal at best). Plus, Mojang "revealed" a new block (without showing it) that was significant enough to get its own video, but the leaks mention nothing about it. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xWkIg_1zCNQ

So, as of now, I'm gonna say that the chances of the leaks being real are about 5%, way down from my original stance of 80%.
