It's weird how quiet Mojang has been over the last month. Usually by this time we'd be hearing word of a 1.x.x update, since they usually have some last-minute adjustments that couldn't be added in time to the final release of the main update. Heck, they already confirmed that a couple Trial Chamber changes were coming soon after the release.

Wow, okay, so this modpack that streamer I was watching from yesterday has a mod that supposedly takes you to a "Deeper Dark" dimension, but holy crap is it weeeeeeak. The Wardens are neutered, not having their animations, their roars, their speed, their blindness, their sniffing, their sensing abilities, most of their noises, or their sonic attacks, and they just casually stand there while you whack them. The "dimension" itself is just basic caves with little to no sculk along the walls, the shriekers don't summon the Wardens (they just spawn randomly in darkness), and even the other enemies are pretty weak. Hell, there weren't even any sculk sensors!

So I looked up the mod. It's called "Dead Guy's Untitled Deep Dark", and now I understand why everything is so weak and so bizarrely not like the Deep Dark: it was made for 1.16.5 (yet was somehow ported to 1.20.1 for the modpack), and was based just on the reveal trailer stuff we got waaaay back in the Warden's first reveal, and has since been discontinued.

A very rare case where vanilla's content trumps the mod content, lol.

And the strangest thing is that the Deeper & Darker mod is right there! Why the Untitled Deep Dark mod was chosen over this for the modpack is beyond me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZQcFSvNb4c

Those are the only biomes in the End, and four of them are exactly the same aside from some very minor generation differences.

The only one that's sorta different is the small End islands because they have less vegetation, require more care to navigate, and are somewhat more interesting to look at...for the first few minutes. Afterwards it just gets annoying.

We really need a reason to go to the End again besides shulker boxes, elytras, and dragon heads. There is nothing else there.

Deus Ex Revision has a real-time modifier you can opt into, it makes the game a lot harder. Now enemies will continue looking for you while you try fitting that GEP gun you'll never use in your inventory

man my shovel named Antigravelty (Fortune 3 unbreaking 3 mending + efficiency 4 or 5 usually) is one of the GOAT tools. Not as versatile as a pickaxe though.

shovels feel satisfying to use because they can dig the blocks the fastest overall, but they are technically the least useful tools because they save the least time per block mined and don't "unlock" you any requirements like pickaxes do

also, axes can double-duty as a combat weapon while shovels can't really do that. In fact, you don't really need a sword in modern Minecraft, as a diamond axe is already a decent weapon on its own. The downside of using an axe as a weapon is that each hit takes 2 durability points instead of 1, like any non-sword weapon

So you can choose between saving on durability (with a sword that requires 2 of a material to craft), or saving an invensotry slot and wearing your weapon down twice as fast (with 3 material to craft)

I would still say that the sword is more useful as a weapon since it has the sweep attack for crowd control and looting 3, while the axe is more for single-target slaying.

in the early game, I usually use level 1 enchantments on everything I have (as long as it's iron or better), since I lack the XP (and sometimes the bookshelves) for more

mending, you can get pretty easily on a fishing rod and on a bow (both from fishing) but anything else you have to get a villager who will trade it, which itself has been made more difficult in newer versions of the game, which is one of the things that keeps me from playing

It is very easy to get as long as you have a villager and a lectern. You can keep resetting the teades until you get mending, and then you can buy them basically forever.

Actually, the villager mending trade is still available even on 1.21. The trade rebalance hasn't kicked in yet, and is still listed under the experimental features tab, meaning it has no definite update schedule.

We don't know when it's going to come, and while it's listed under the experimental features, it means that things can still change.

And as for this, you can get it in fishing, it's just very rare.

They really should. Those have largely been forgotten by everyone, including Jeb, who was the main dev behind it.

I think it's also possible to find mending in some chest loot, but it's rare there too. The easiest and most popular way is villager trading.

Weeeeelp, so it seems like someone figured out why Realms on Bedrock is broken: it's not because Realms is broken, rather it's the Microsoft accounts that are broken. Lots of people are now testing it by creating new accounts and they can log into Realms just fine, but their normal accounts can't for some reason.

Interesting though, this is pretty recent. I wonder if they have some really big plans on the horizon for weather and other mostly untouched systems of the game. They did say that they don't want to add destructive weather into the game that would damage structures and terrain, but you can still add more intense and realistic weather events without that happening.

Mojang said they wouldn't add a new dimension until the Overworld, End, and Nether were all updated to their satisfaction. The Overworld and Nether have been overhauled, that leaves the End to finish first.

It's actually very good that Rom pruned the chunks on the server, because that means if we do get a new overworld biome with the Pale Garden (no point in spoilering it now since Mojang is now officially teasing it), we'll be able to hopefully find it pretty easily.

Interesting...I just saw a post on the Minecraft subreddit that showed leaked in-game shots of the Creaker and Pale Garden. And then when I refreshed, the post was deleted and yeeted into the void.

Problem is, the pictures in question were kinda blurry. It's possible that it's fake, but I guess we'll see.

In any case, the leaked shots had: ||new vine-like block like the hanging roots, a new "creaking heart" block that can be used to summon the creaker, a new white wood type, and the pale garden being a giant grey forest biome. The creaker itself looked kinda like the "stalker" concept art from the Warden, tall and lanky and made up of wood. Looked a bit goofy, but might look better and creepier in motion.|| There may have been more but again, it was blurry and I didn't get a good look before the post was deleted.

Oh, and one thing about the creaker based on the post: ||it is indeed based on sight, and seems to be sorta like the weeping angels from Dr. Who.||

Ooooo, even more interesting...someone has done some sleuthing, and it seems like some of the gameplay leaks might be fake or red herrings, because the developer shots in each one seem to be angles taken from previous years.

So this is either someone doing a little trolling with fake textures, or this is Mojang doing fake leaks to throw people off.

It takes me back to the time when we thought seagulls were gonna be one of the mobs in the votes, because the evidence looked so conclusive, and it ended up being fake.

They did, which is one of the reasons why I'm not upset (I am disappointed that we weren't shown much, but not upset at the content itself), and the second reason is that the white wood set is spectacular for building, and I will definitely be using it a lot on the server when we get it.

I believe that what was shown off today will be tweaked and changed a lot over the next few weeks, and that there's a high chance of us getting more stuff too.

I don't believe for a second that Mojang would sit around for almost 5 or 6 months and have only a wood set, a single mob, and new moss to show for it. They're working on something else in the background, likely 1.22, and this game drop is probably stuff that was finished but didn't fit thematically with the next update, but was still in the pipeline to be added.

So, someone discovered something interesting about the new content. Apparently the sapling for the new pale oak tree doesn't match its in-game tree. This is interesting because all other saplings in the game match their in-game tree designs.

The sapling for pale oak looks like a willow tree, thin and drooping, but the tree is retextured dark oak. This could mean that the tree is a placeholder for now.

Also, the leaf texture we saw in the footage doesn't match the leaf texture they showed off a few days ago, hinting once again that it's a placeholder.

If this turns out to be true, it would confirm what I said above, that everything we saw in the footage is a WIP and that there's gonna be a lot of changes over the next few weeks.

Oh, also, the villager news segment this year basically confirmed that XP (when dropped by mobs) in the Minecraft universe is blood. Since Mojang themselves signed off on this animation I'm treating it as canon (I'm also treating the fact that witches are sassy, melodramatic, and flirty as canon too).

This means that when we are at mob grinders we are literally showering in the blood of our enemies.

Much of this is likely gonna change. I have a feeling the health of the creaking is gonna change (currently only half a heart of HP), as well as its damage (does only half a heart of damage when wearing unenchanted iron armor). I also think the tree shape is gonna change, as well as the quantity of creaking hearts in the forest itself.

It was already highly requested back in the day, but now that we have this biome, people are more fervently suggesting it again.

The Creaking stuff isn't part of 1.21.2. This is the Bundles and Bravery drop, the Creaking stuff is the Winter Drop, possibly 1.21.3

Frankly, they should've picked a different name for Bundles and Bravery. The "Bravery" aspect only applies to Bedrock.
