probably a lot of the visual theming can be brought back though
UI is one of those things that famously, the immediate reaction is almost always gonna be negative, but you kinda need to wait for a while to properly assess if it's actually an improvment
especially for public software with enormous userbases
at my day job we can generally separate the constructive criticism from the "it changed f u" reactions, but there's a bunch of reasons for that, one of which is social media is not our primary feedback channel
which game is that?
Gran Turismo for the PSP

https://www.gamedate.org/
GameDate is a free, anonymous scheduling platform for multiplayer games. No account required. Post a session, pick a time, and find people to play with, especially for dead or niche games that still have players but no way to coordinate.
For discussion visit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDate/
Oh, it's probably a website to help people organise and play games together, rather than actually reviving multiplayer games with dead servers
retrogaming dating let's gooooo
I don't know what game this is, but importing the Space Marine 2 character models into it was genius.

TIL that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first Zelda game ever to not credit a single person from the original Zelda 1 dev team. At least three of them had a hand in each Zelda game up until then.
TIL that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first Zelda game ever to not credit a single person
(And it’s not because they’ve passed away, it’s just a passing of the torch)
that's
that's wild
insert Wild Manes "that's wild" sticker
Even gets some tears because of old hyrule kingdom
Well, it has been 40 years now, after so long I'm sure many of those people moved on to other positions where they're not as hands-on with game dev anymore
still, if Echoes of Wisdom is supposed to be the first foray into a completely new team for Zelda, they did an S+ job because that's one of the best Zelda experiences I had
and it makes me mad that nobody talks about it
wasn't it developed by a whole other company?
It was developed by the same guys who did OOT3D, MM3D and Link's Awakening
Lizzo or something like that /s
(it's Grezzo)
right, but that explains it
those other games are based on games that the normies made
whereas this one is wholly original
Link's Awakening remake mentioned !
Well, it was still co-developed with Nintendo
so yes but sort of
also, if I can say one negative thing about the game, is that we're still reusing the ALTTP world map and locations all these years later
I desperately wish to see a brand new 2D Zelda world, an actual new one
at least we got 2D Gerudos this time, and they're super cute
I feel like zelda has only ever done hyrule
except that time we went to rando land and that time hyrule got flooded and that time that it was new hyrule which was apparently overrun by train nerds
but other than that it's hyrule all the time
that's not what I mean, I mean I don't want to see the exact map of ALTTP again
best we can do is breath of the wild's map again
I mean of you want to be technical there were Koridai, Gamelon, and Tolemac but.....these are remembered for not the right reasons
There's Termina too
the Oracle games I think take place in a different land too
Those two are my blindspots though, I don't know anything about the oracle games

Oh dang, that's a pretty good discount
today's featured article on Wikipedia
first time getting a leaderboard top 1 on RetroAchievements!!
I finished watchdogs legion. and it. felt weird. bagsly technically died. Albion got a figurative boot. and the only reason I enjoyed it is because I quite literally limited my self to 2 operatives
also. blume felt kinda. not a villain in this one
really uninvolved as a villain in this game
Darn that is tempting.
I am in a very 40k time of my life
I might have binged the 15 Gaunt's Ghosts audio-books in the past couple of months
Been commuting a lot
damn! how is the series, i've heard good things
Excellent, he is a very compelling character and they don't overdo it with the fights description which is a common problem with 40k fiction
If you have like, 15 pages of nothing but fights it starts to mush together, they keep it reasonable
ahh yeah, that's cool
I had some problems here and there, a few characters definitely overstayed their welcome, and a few plot points were kind of meh, but overall it was excellent for what it is, which is definitely not overly deep but well thought out action Bad Company style war stories set in the 40k universe
nods
Ideal for a daily commute, it's definitely not going to overtax your brain but it's gonna keep you awake through the whole trip
Related to the Space Marine 2 discount, I'm still kinda unsure if I'll enjoy it haha. I jumped back into R6S and a touch of Counter Strike 2 and that's kind filling the "pick up and play a round" gaps
also the ammount of DLC for SM2 is huge haha
Yeah those are staying there until they all get out and are wrapped in one convenient package at a reasonable price
fair fair
Have you played Rogue Trader yet?
I am currently going through that
Oh nice
So far, story is 9/10
There is the occasional bit where I would like a bit more agency but overall really well done
The systems I think aren't quire as intuitive as I would like to be, I had to mod in infinite respec without costs because paying for them with profit factor was way too steep, but apart from that I've been enjoying it throughly
i wish las weapons were stronger, they are supposed ot be kind of almost objectively better than solid ammo weapons but I feel like solid ammo do edge them out in most cases unless the enemy has a ton of dodge, and I feel like bolt weapons should also be stronger given they are supposed to be pretty insane.
Apart from that though, can't complain, extremely satisgying to play when you finally land on the right gear and abilities
Also still hasn't found any proper power armor, looking forward to that

You can be a PROPER asshole in that game, which I always appreciate the option though, even if I rarely take it
It is kind of fun that you can be a decent person and literally everyone in your party goes "Oh, you didn't order the immediate summary execution of a few hundreds people in the offchance they might have thought badly of you, that's novel, are you sure you didn't hit your head on concrete as a child" essentially
What's the CRPG where you can be the most evil without it completely shutting off a lot of options for you?
Isn't there the one where you are kind of supposed to be part of an evil reign that essentially won and took over the land, Tyranny
Play an RPG with meaningful, world-altering choices, unique and memorable companions, and a new perspective on morality. Tyranny casts you as the arbiter of law in a world devastated by war and conquered by a despot. Will you work inside the system or try to dismantle it… and will it be for the glory of Kyros, for the good of the world, or for…

Unfortunately I've already played that one
and still kinda ended up playing the 'good' evil guy
I think BG3 does well with providing evil characters viable options
Rogue Trader you can literally execute like, main characters, because you don't like them.
That's arguably even the proper thing to do for a domgmatic playthrough
Hell you can blow up planets where it's arguably the proper thing to do

In fact your crew is kind of evil by deafult, you kinda have to tell them that is bad, and no you can't torture the poor because it's a lot more convenient for them to do it.
They do the thing where it's like, how the world works, so they kinda act by inertia
That'st he one of the three you suggested I haven't played. I should get around to it
just remembered one of the hardest youtube videos ever
https://youtu.be/M9J6DKJXoKk?si=F6k_VYVZBP3pJ6o3
This is a video I did for a contest machinima.com was hosting some time back
(EDIT: if I remember right, it was a tribute to Eli contest, which I did not even place in because it was rejected for copyright music, right at the start of YouTube really starting to crack down on copyright music). .. That made me make my own silly music, because I ...
(spoilers for Half Life 2 and it's episodes)
Well, yeah, this is the 40K universe, being an absolute scum-of-the-earth snobby asshole who executes people on a whim is expected, lol. Being an actually nice, good person in 40K is not only exceptionally rare, it is often outright punished.
So you can imagine how hilarious it is that when people write 40K/MLP crossover fanfics, the Ponies being nice to the Space Marines and still being able to wreck shit if threatened is seen is utterly bewildering.
It is very nice that they give you just enough authority to be the one calling the shots about how stuff goes, yeah, you can kinda enforce a certain level of niceness despite the onion of bullshit inherent to the setting
Within reason
Whenever I get to playing it I want to be the person who leads well, who everyone under their command likes well enough, and who does their best to make people's lives a little better, but who also doesn't take shit from people and knows how to tread the line between "good" and "forceful".
That Warrant of Trade is a powerful thing, especially an original one that gives more.

been playing Twilight Princess as of late, which is my first ever Zelda game
Underrated one too, very enjoyable
Basically oot but bigger
...which is why its underrated
Yeah! I don't have a setup that can run it
WW HD has more bloom, TP HD has less bloom than the respective OGs
WWHD is generally seen as a straight upgrade for the most part, but TPHD is more divisive
Gotta get those miiverse stamps!
➕ Yeah!
Duplicating this PSA since some might miss it if they don’t subscribe to #1032733661671460937 : While initially, Nintendo’s documentation claimed that the upcoming Pokémon FireRed & LeadGreen re-releases on Switch 1 & 2 were going to be compatible with Pokémon Home in an upcoming post-release update, they have since removed this note with no clarification.
If you’re purchasing these eShop versions of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen assuming this compatibility will exist, you may want to reconsider until further confirmation one way or the other is available.
The upshot being that it might not be possible to complete the PokéDex in these versions of the games without hacking.
Yeah but it gets rid of the moody lighting completely
it also makes the flashback scenes crisper which is a downgrade to me because the whole appeal of those is precisely that they look blurry and hard to make out as if you're looking into someone's memories
in this case I prefer the crispiness
I do agree that the HD version lost what made part of the atmosphere so damn good in Twilight Princess
The color grading and lighting is off
The blurriness did accidentally add to it as well, tbh, but I'm torn on it
yeah I think the Bloom is what I'm playing with
didn't know it was point of contention
Twilight Princess's experience relies so much on subtle atmosphere, so...
Since it's meant to feel generally gloomy and melancholic
kinda reminds me of the debate over whether (original) SH2's voice acting is "bad" or "appropriately uncanny"
except the SH2 one I care about and this TP thing I really don't think makes a significant difference either way
the blurriness never looked like an intentional creative choice to me, since it's equally present everywhere, so it just looks like weak old game graphics; there's plenty of gloom in all the other design and story decisions
The blurriness was indeed a consequence of it being a 480i game, but it happened to give it a bit of a dreamlike quality
When mixed in with the rest of the design details
But as I said, I’m torn on that one
for me to buy a "they didn't understand the aesthetic" argument, they'd have to do something like... replace the silence after Ganondorf's death with happy fanfare music
i forgot you were talking about twilight princess and my brain automatically read tp as Twin Peaks
The thing that makes it complicated is that it's not a case of this one's bad that one's good, it's a tradeoff situation
It's the typical case of whether you want the full atmosphere of the original or if you wanna play the original game on a higher resolution with a texture pack installed but may be missing some lighting effects and it may look a little flat at times
So overall certain areas are lit up way higher, and the shadows aren't nearly as strong as in the original, sometimes some effects may be missing the intensity or missing entirely, but it does add certain new effects like on the Temple of Time the light is beaming down into the room whereas in the original it wasn't doing that, and that's what makes it kinda hard to really say
I'm not sure I would argue they didn't understand the aesthetic, mind
Just modern rendering techniques made it feel a bit different, is all
Of course it was the graphical limitations at the time, but it was still a conscious stylistic choice done even on games from other consoles, there are ports of PS2 games that have similar effects on their cutscenes that are completley missing on newer ports because they just don't bother to replicate it, it's both a result of the limitation but it's also a conscious artistic decision regardless
whether it's an important one to you is a different deal, and that's why in the case of TP you could go with either version
except the Wii version, because playing that game mirrored is cursed
It's a tradeoff. You trade bad graphics for good graphics
If you wanna put it that way sure
I don't particularly think slapping higher res textures on lower poly models makes for better graphics on a general case
I never played the GameCube version
Playing the WiiU HD version felt weird as a result
Yeah, not generally. It worked out for Twilight Princess
Fun fact
they should port WWHD and TPHD to Switch and make a trillion dollars
In classical Arabic you do it the other way around. Saying "You trade bad graphics for good graphics" means you got rid of good graphics and got bad graphics
maybe this year since it's the 40th anniversary ? idk
I’m hoping as much
cap what's ur fav Zelda game
that's a tough question
I want to play Twilight Princess again and I’m not going to bother setting up my Wii
probably BotW or Link to the Past
I've been using Dolphin
I guess that's not wrong per se, but stated this generally I don't want to endorse such a vague argument that amounts to "if it's different it must be wrong" worded more poetically, when that's just not how art works in general. There has to be some specific reason why "blurry" is a good thing before the argument that "being less blurry is a downside" has any real weight besides nostalgia.
And in this specific concrete case, again, the fact that it's uniform over the entire game causes it to have zero emotional impact for me as an alleged stylistic choice, so I don't consider it a downside. If they actually had applied more or less blur based on how real or unreal a certain scene should be, then we'd have something. But TP never did that.
TBC I completely agree with this. Especially for animations. There are a lot of "graphical upgrades" where the upgrade only highlights how janky the animations always were and it ends up being more distracting overall.
i think i just like Zelda tbh now that i'm thinking about it. basically every Zelda game ive played i loved
which version of Links Awakening
though i kind of bounced off of OoT
remake
I think there was only one Zelda-like(?) I played, called Lenna's Inception
A New Hero Rises
The Kingdom of ▜̴͈̔▕̴͜͝▯̴̳̈́░̷̪͗▚̷̪̆▒̸̣̓ is glitching. The evil Chairman of the Banker’s Guild has captured the Prince, opening the way for destruction at the hands of the Archangels. With the Hero eliminated, and the world horribly unraveling, reluctant tutor Lenna must step up to save the kingdom\…
$9.99

it was pretty fun
I did try Lenna's but it didn't do much for me
Play Tunic
tunic was somewhat zelda like, but I feel like it suffers a bit by trying to be the 90s
Tunic didn't do much for me sadly
Cap confirmed for shirtless
I should give it another chance, I tried it but the combat wasnt for me, but also I only had access to it with a free gamepass subscription so I was extra picky
that's fair, I appreciate what it was trying to do, sometimes it felt a bit convoluted(?) dont know if thats the right word but there was a specific segment that I struggled to figure out
I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to play the one on the right, it looks like someone smeared a thick layer of vaseline over the screen
I think I know how to fix the problem with the Wii U version, thank you
convoluted? that sounds more like a Tunic complaint than a Lenna complaint lol
my main problem with Lenna's was that it's basically trying to be procedurally generated old-school Zelda, but it 100% has the standard procedural generation problem that none of it is nearly as interesting as a handcrafted map/dungeon
That's fine, that's why I said people can go either way with it, I think it adds a certain quality to it mixed with the harsher darker shadows that makes me like it more
if they put TP on the online gamecube service and ported the HD version to Switch then you'd have either to choose from to play
is anyone following the stuff with the luke ross vr mods? it's kind of funny seeing him crash out, but it's just baffling that people liked them in the first place
never heard of it
He's a guy who develops VR conversion mods for games, but is very opinionated and broke TOS for some games. And has since basically freaked out online
im gonna freak it
yeah i wasnt sure of the wording, but yeah I can see your point there
He had a subcription model on patreon for continued access to mods, tried to contact CD Projekt Red to get his mod included as part of cyberpunk 2077, and they DMCA'd him
oh I think i heard of this
Oh yeah, he was profiting off of the mods and that's generally a no-no in my books
the baffling part is he tried asserting that he did not charge for his mods. Despite charging money for continued access/support. and on top of that they use alternate eye rendering and don't have any motion controls
it's just like flat gaming except it makes you nauseous
everything going on with VR right now just makes me
VR for me is still in the space of "if I ever end up with a device that happens to do VR, maybe I'll finally play Half-Life: Alyx, but otherwise I feel zero need to go specifically acquire such a device"
especially when I have a hundred other games to play
Yeah
yeah that's about how i feel too
that's what the VR people have been saying since... before I was born, I think literally?
right now probably the easiest way is a used quest 2, sidequest, and virtual desktop or ALVR
News to me
tbf they sound a lot more plausible this decade than they did back when the Virtual Boy was the new hotness
i do really wanna play Alyx though but i dont think it's worth it to buy a thousand dollar thing
I didn’t think VR was any good until the Oculus came around, and wasn’t mainstream ready until the Index came out
it's mainstream already?
I feel like VR is just not accessible to the general public, nor does the average person wanna bother setting it up
so companies dont invest much into VR
it's a combination of weight/fatigue, higher cost, as well as currently subpar experiences from things like meta subsidizing costs to dominate the market and then trying to torture all of those users with invasive garbage and aggressive monetization
I think VR is unappreciated but not underappreciated
I said mainstream-ready, as in it’s gotten good enough to where it CAN go mainstream if it gets the software support from devs
And the ecosystems became easy enough to use
And relatively bug free
More of just set up and go rather than endless technical tinkering
oh sorry my brain somehow missed the "ready" in there
work on a PC port is in (very) early stages, so it might be worth waiting
usually I'm on the receiving end of that glitch wow
True facts
the VR market is a bit weird as a whole
you can tell the devs that target VR users are counting on the fact that most VR users have disposable income, so a lot more things are paywalled than usual
it's kind of like simracing, space sims, etc
help us, Obi Steam Frame

I still cannot believe that is real
I love how they created it again but instead of making the parts be cross compatible (with the exception of the stand, somehow) the rest of the parts are incompatible.
Woulda been cool if they actually made some of the buttons and shell components be actually compatible.
tbf who is gonna be swapping parts with the '95 hardware
people who have virtual boy machines that are severely damaged
but still work
I mean, its a niche thing.
Still nice the stand works, but you can't even buy it as a part lol. So yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if in the near future some of the og virtual boys get virtual boy 2026 parts.
They did so a while ago with the Valve Index, which I personally contend is still the best VR gaming headset on the market at the moment.
Steam Frame is their second one and it is almost certainly going to be the Meta Quest killer, thankfully.
If I could take any piece of software, engrave its source code onto a piece of hardened shit, and launch it into the sun after pissing all over it it would’ve the Meta horizons app
I hope mark zuckerberg is haunted by three ghosts every night for how bad this shit is
interesting, im not too well versed with the VR scene, the only one im somewhat familiar with is Occulus
You need it to manage and access the headset and download screenshots
Oculus was rendered obsolete a very long time ago. Meta bought them and its subsequent successors were the Meta Quest headsets.
Sorry, correction: there’s four ghosts in A Christmas Carol
There have been a ton of VR headsets and substantial improvements in the technology since the Oculus came around
how much do they usually cost nowadays?
Depends.
Depends on what kind you get! But entry-level (which tbh is good enough for most people) is now roughly $300
In the vein of the Meta Quest 3
Entry as in restricted to the Snapdragon.
Which the Steam Frame will probably beat out
Yeah
Room-scale VR with lighthouses and such is still about $1000
I'm curious about the Steam Frame but that chip is honestly pretty upsetti.
General computing VR headsets like the Apple Vision Pro are more than that
Room-scale VR configurations like the Valve Index are probably obsolete for most people
Still useful if you want full body tracking, though
what VR headsets do you guys have?
I have... like seven
I have none lol, I just am waiting for a cheap entry that isn't Meta.
I definitely don't have any dedicated VR devices
I've heard claims you can turn some phones into a VR headset but I've never looked into it
I have the PSVR 1 and 2, Valve Index, Apple Vision Pro, Oculus, HTC Vive, and a few others
And Meta Quest 2 adn 3
Ohh.. that's right... I think I have one of those things.
It was given to me for free, it sucks.
wow thats a lot lmao
which of those do you like the most
For the ones on the market right this second... I generally recommend the Meta Quest 3 to everyone.
But I would wait, because the Steam Frame will almost certainly render the Meta Quest irrelevant and I would probably recommend that instead. It comes out this year.
My favorite headsets are the Apple Vision Pro and Valve Index.
I do use my Meta Quest sometimes but I don't like using it.
The Apple Vision Pro is both the best damn VR/XR headset that exists on the market today and I adore the hell out of it, and simultaneously one I cannot recommend to anyone, at all.
Because it's very expensive
And you don't really get what you pay for in anything other than the hardware itself. Developer support is scarce.
It's an early adopter type of device, so...
what do you normally play on those
Valve Index, I almost always just play Beat Saber and occasionally like VRChat. I've played a ton of games on it through my Steam library and it works well for this, like Half-Life Alyx and such.
Meta Quest has several good games on it, but they're tied up in their own walled garden. There's a multiplayer minigolf game called Walkabout Minigolf which is both bullshit and hilarious fun. Peach and I play that sometimes. They have several exclusive games too which actually do have some serious production value behind them, like Demeo, Asgard's Wrath 2, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Assassin's Creed Nexus, Resident Evil 4 VR, and a trilogy of Star Wars VR experiences.
The VR games on Steam lean more towards arcadey experiences while Meta's ecosystem has invested a ton of money into getting more fleshed out RPG-style and immersive tabletop games into it
Beat Saber is one i hear about quite a lot
Beat Saber is the killer app that put VR gaming on the map, yeah
is it like a rhythm game?
But it's like.. the ONE killer app it managed
Yes
Rhythm game but you're swinging lightsabers in both hands to slash blocks flying at you in the correct direction
While also didgling walls flying at you
It's quite fun and a good cardio workout
IMO, at least
I've been busy and so I haven't played in a while, but I've played it a lot
There's an active modding community which adds custom tracks and maps that do wild things that the base game can't do
But every update they release comes out like every two weeks, and every update
- Intentionally breaks all mods
- Is mandatory and can't be blocked
Because Facebook says fuck you
(Meta bought them)

there are mods for the VR device, not the games?
Both
There are mods for the games and there are jailbreaks (and sideloading) for the Meta Quest devices
Meta Quest sideloading is a big deal, there are several game emulators for it and you can load game mods onto it that way, since games are run locally on-device on the Meta Quest.
Someone even made a 3DS emulator for it to take advantage of the perfect 3D that VR provides and it worked very well. I'm not sure if it's still maintained.
ah, makes sense those can't be officially supported things
Meta breaks the Beat Saber mods on every update basically because of all the music licensing the game has. Or at least that's how they justify it.
Their explanation was a little squirrely IMO
one wonders how much of that is legally required and how much is placating the M-whatever acronym is the music people
Indeed
Meta doesn't exactly fight you on app sideloading, though
It's really easy and they don't seem to ever break it
Probably helps that it's just running Android
idk why but I had the assumption it had its own OST
guess that makes more sense
Apple:
It does! But it's mostly licensed music now.
When it originally came out it was all original music
what genre would u say it falls under?
ooh. might check the ost out then
Some of it has hints of D&B
It can get pretty dubsteppy too
But including all of the music it has now, it’s definitely all over the place
Oh, correction, even the base vanilla game had some licensed music
Such as Porter Robinson’s Angel Voices as a “secret song” (at the time, it’s now unhidden by default; from his Virtual Self act)
sideloading is how you install any of TeamBeef's ports too
which lets you play lots of classic FPS games in VR. The ports are really well-made
I have decided to buy some horses:
enjoy!
More games need a char face creation like this

Simpsons hit and run remaster could be happening. As the company that made it is back but under New radical games instead of radical games
New Radical Games is your elite work-for-hire game development partner. With roots back to Radical Entertainment (1991) and Hothead Games (2006), we bring decades of powerhouse experience to console and mobile. We build games with precision, passion, and world-class respect for your IP.
I don't see it happening personally due to the licensing mess
Simpsons IP is rather strict
maybe not 007 levels of strict, but still strict

Since you are French. You may have heard of him
i wonder if devlolver digital published this game
I know him as Robotnik from Sonic SatAM. RIP...
did you get to the part where he disables the skip text button
yes
I think I only ever heard him as Nappa in French, since when I was growing up and watching it, it was in French and around that timeline...
Lay of the Land will be available April 8th on Steam!
Wishlist the game here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2776090
Lay of the Land is a sandbox adventure game set in a fantasy world where everything is physically simulated. Use the environment to your advantage and Explore, Fight, Loot and Build your way through mysterious lands.
https:/...
it's another voxel based open world building game except this one has a destructable environment and chisels and bits
I've been kind of keeping an eye on this game. I think it's the closest to a "pure" voxel game. That is, each voxel is a solid color/material, making it more in line with being 3D pixels
Building looks like it's going to be a lot of fun compared to how minecraft has stagnated since its inception
It looks okay. Hytale has the better combat, IMO
I supported Lay of the Land on patreon for a little bit, just to get a taste. The build I played (about a monthish ago) had some steep system requirements compared to Minecraft or Hytale. My laptop isn't the most powerful, but it runs those two games easily with 120+ fps (though usually I limit it to 60 since I don't have high refresh here). Lay of the Land was something like 40-50 fps
I believe it's a raytraced voxel renderer. There's even an option to make use of RT hardware
It reminds me of Delver
Snake is so stealthy, he's not visible/j
Looks cool and pretty, but I still like Minecraft and Hytale better.
speaking of which, how does Hytale compare to Minecraft now that those of you playing the games have had plenty of time to judge Hytale
(I've only seen clips and I'm confident Hytale's combat is better but the rest is less clear)
I still haven't played it, but from what I gather, it's still too early to say. Minecraft has had like 15 years of content added to it. So much of Hytale's content is still locked behind its creative mode, its better terrain gen is still in the testing phase and won't be ready for at least a year, and the story mode is nowhere near ready yet. We're missing mobs, biomes, zones, weapons, minigame servers, movie-making, live coding, and sooooooo much more.
Hytale's confident is infinitely better, that much is certain.
I think Minecraft does mining better, but Hytale does tool and armor progression way better
I also personally prefer Minecraft's crafting method of using manual recipes instead of just having the ingredients on hand and holding down a crafting button like in Hytale.
But that's up to personal taste, neither method is "better" than the other.
As for everything else, still too early to make a fair comparison. Right now Hytale's main complaint is that it's too "empty", and that's because it is. It launched with only like 10% of its actual planned content.
hytale has all the right foundations,it just has to do something with them
Exactly, right now it's still setting those foundations up.

Huh, there's already a demo for Zero Parades? (the next za/um game, of disco elysium fame)
I saw the beginning of the demo today
The intro drags on a fair amount, it didn't nearly hook me as much as Disco's did, but I didn't see much further than that, I might give it a look myself just to see how long it may be
At the very least I really like the spy drama setting I think that's really interesting but I saw very little of it so far
and, of course, it's up to everyone whether they want to support za um too
To be fair, starting as an amnesiac blackout drunk policeman with terrible facial hair is a hell of a start to top
The intro is very similar to Disco's actually, like almost an identical room, a lot of people were a little ticked off by that because they saw it as a souless copy of what Disco was doing, but I don't know if I'd go that far
all I know is by the time Disco shows you a couple characters and gets you interested in what the hell is going on, you're still walking around the room in Zero Parades and going through dialogues

So it's not bad or good all I can say is it drags on a fair amount compared to Disco, the only other thing is completely subjective and it's just that I felt like some of the dialogue is trying a bit too hard to be verbose and 'deep', but that may be a complete bias on my part because Disco was such an irreplaceable experience, maybe I'm just wrong on that
'cause it's not like Disco invented that, so it feels a little unfair to say ''wow they're super trying to copy Disco'', especially since the developers are the developers who stayed behind who also worked on Disco, and they deserve credit for the work they did too, buuuut I also can't really stop that feeling so I'm just gonna say that's maybe my bias there
Nah that's fair. Folks will either say 'it's trying to copy it too much' or think 'hey, this feels exactly like disco, that's exactly what i'm looking for'

So how is it so far?
Interesting so far. Just ||exited the building||. I don't really feel like it dragged on so much unless you're exhausting absolutely every single option just for the heck of it. ||Though my char seems like an anxious wreck, hit the limit pretty fast||. Gonna stop there for now as I have stuff to do
The SM64 "backwards long jump" is such a disappointing name once you learn that the Japanese name for this trick is the "ass warp".

It looks okay
Touch controls still are a pain point, and bringing a controller kinda defeats the purpose unless you pony up for a mobile controller or the world’s smallest controller.

fair enough
anyone a big competive gamer? I think I've forgotten how to have fun during a loss streak lol, any tips?
Wolverine releases on the 15th of September
are you a big DC fan Blade?
holyyyyy shit
Yeah I like it
nice nice, hope the game is good for the folks who'll play it
I think for me personally, it looked a little too bloody haha
idk much about Wolverine he and the X-Men are kind of a blindspot for me
i liked him a lot in Deadpool & Wolverine
ah yeah, fair enough Captain mario
X-men are cool, but i never read much of the comics
just played some of the games on occasion
I've read some of the X-Men comics, by which I mean "only" hundreds of issues and still only a small fraction of the total
I feel like Wolverine got hyper-popular mostly as one of the early examples of that perfect 90s anti-hero balance of being badass enough to win fights, a big softie on the inside, but also willing to do what needs to be done even if the rest of the team is too goody-goody for it
iirc he's the only mutant who regularly shows up on both the main X-Men team and the edgelords-only X-Force team, most characters are firmly in one or the other
The original on the PS3 is a rare game, as you can see by the price it has been nearly £80 before but comes down from time to time.

I wish gamers would just stop and by gamers I mean annoying people
Luke Ross is crashing out because he tried contacting senior Larian employees to do what he did to CDPR and thinks they're ghosting him when he's just delusional and Tyler McVicker just said he thinks Valve is cancelling their hardware plans
So prepare for a lot of people freaking out over nothing tomorrow
there's gamers and then there's Gamers
I just don't see any likelihood that Valve would wholly cancel their plans like that but people want to believe in the worst so they will
At worst there's going to be a limited hardware release until things settle
thinks Valve is cancelling their hardware plans
I mean...isn't every console manufacturer kind of reconsidering their hardware plans? WIth SSD and RAM prices being so wild lately?
who is Luke Ross
I had to look this up. It’s the guy who was making VR mods of games you had to pay for.
He's a guy who charges money for shitty VR mods that use the worst kind of eye rendering hacks and lack motion controls
I don't think it's such a wild assumption to make when we know Sony literally delayed the next generation console, right?
I can see Valve withholding for next year but not aborting, too much money has gone to SteamOS & other initiatives.
Well, reportedly.
But also… it’s not like pushing it back to 2027 is exactly surprising
Tyler McVicker is a trusted leaker but i think he might be off base with this one
He sometimes is.
Oh probably it's early to say that they are aborting the whole thing or not
Never heard of him.
He mostly covers Valve games
But uh… I would be shocked if Valve cancelled anything.
Tyler McVicker essentially was the guy who kept seeing HL Alyx VR.
Like he called it before anyone else.
datamining and looking at added classes and strings to figure out what might come out in future games
TIL. Alyx just shadow dropped out of nowhere as far as I was aware.
That said, hardware plans can only be delayed so long, given the fact that new hardware come out to replace the old, if you delay long enough you kind of have to rethink your hardware strategy from screatch by sheer necessity
He found code references, text files, and a few hints in CS:GO & certain source engine updates.
Essentially, he knew Valve was cooking by just looking at scripts lol.
Hm. Guess those leaks didn’t bubble up into my usual feeds.
Here's a Miro board where people track this stuff https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVINqBTwM=/
That's because nobody wanted to believe him. I believed him though.
The fuck is Miro
That is what copium looks like.
Silksong fans had it easy.
Its extremely well made too, lots of proper research.
there's even employee resumes and work histories for recent Valve hires there
After Tyler called HL:Alyx, the community started taking updates way more seriously.
That’s a corner I pay zero attention to, so I guess it tracks that I’ve never heard of him
I feel like that stuff like this is really not very useful
I mean unless you plan an investment on a publicly traded company right before a big announcement, if you are a fan learning some stuff sometimes earlier isn't really giving you any benefit.
They look at engine additions, found files, recent acquisitions and their experience/specialty, etc
Well, fans gonna fan.
Didn’t know Valve had any leaks. Given how small they are, it would be difficult to exfiltrate any information
Unless you enjoy it of course
Ah
Everyone has an hobby
He even found some cut content which is like huge in the HL community.
So he’s a hobbyist analyst. Neat.
There's a lot of people who do this, but he's one of the more popular ones
Just say HL2 Beta and you'll get a squad sent to personally rip your hard drive out and slap it on the internet.
I'm waiting for the full version of that "THE CITADEL IS A GUN" video to come out

that's what I said last year when I discovered our UX guy uses it
this might be one of the most interesting fan theories I've seen for half life and portal as a franchise
and it's less than 3 minutes (Psssst, watch it Deviant)
I will, gotta do dishes first.
the video shows more about Xen species and Aperture Science engineering and has clips and excerpts that all add to it
The Citadel, Vortigaunts, Portal Gun, etc all have 3 limbs and they share references to quantum entanglement and black holes and dark matter. and the gravity gun also has 3 limbs and a ton of other Xen species
no kidding on the anxiety, I barely even started

Yup, I knew about this for months.
It slaps HARD.
Also, this is how FF7's newest launcher looks like. No more Square-Enix or weird Eidos stuff!

nice wallpaper, idk what it is but it looks familair
Cult of the Lamb
That's a very old-school looking launcher ironically enough
I vibe with it.
You can change the settings in game too.
DotEmu was responsible for this port it seems.
Songs are in .ogg format too and soundfonts exist in the directory.
Oooooohhhh, the A-pose
they did FF stuff before so that's fair
A little more options when it comes to the volume would be nice but I guess I can't ask for much for a PC port of a game that was probably not designed to leave the PS1
it's just funny to see ''volume options'' and the only option is the master volume
Oh god damn it game. Critical fail on a lore roll
Just bought Ultrakill and played for like half an hour. Fun shooty-shooty game
I can tell that they put everything into shooting and combat. The rest seems kind of secondary, but then again I'm seemingly only scratching the surface
they did revamp the graphics 1 update ago.
but yea. okay more. you will enjoy it
Its a really good game, just wished I wasn’t burnt out atm.
(I say this knowing today I played it and got a Perfect level)

There was a gate I could open with some pliers that I thought would be a simple dialogue interaction but it was an actual check, I was very afraid of failing it and the game making fun of me for failing at such an incomprehensibly easy task
For me it was talking to the ||audiophile guy. Trying to get more info about the disc was a tech roll and I needed a 4? I got a fucking two.||
''was his coat better than mine?''
''I'm afraid so''
STATUS GAINED: ANXIOUS
Heyyyy I know who's that guy in the photo frame to the right there!
mmmmmmm!
very interesting section at the end there, very fun little multiple choice section thingy
that was actually really intriguing
I stopped playing it after a bit, I want to play it full when it's released instead
I wasn't really expecting to fully do the entire demo but I'll say it actually kept me fairly interested, I do still think that it doesn't quite capture that... I don't know, that esoteric quality that Disco has, and I do think at the beginning and in some areas, it's trying really hard to capture it or appear like it,
but I can't really lie, it kept me pretty intrigued and interested the whole time, the setting is really fascinating and a lot of these characters are actually pretty fun and interesting
if anything, even if it doesn't manage to offer this super fascinating, deep and moving experience like Disco did, it at the very least looks like it's going to be a very fun time and a fairly entertaining game to play, in the style of Disco
I think getting the same disco feel is near impossible to do without the same characters/setting (a direct sequel? I guess) but an 'in the style of' disco game seems like a grand time too
maybe some people would say it's the soulless corporate clone of Disco, but I mean this is something that the people who worked on Disco did and I feel like they at least deserve a chance, what happened with za um was really detestable but these are still those same devs even if they've been splintered off from the rest of the team, so I want to at least keep an open mind here and hey, I got through the entire demo in one sitting because I found this world and characters very intriguing
It's the same reason I stopped, I feel like the demo probably wouldn't do it justice (not being able to access the 'conditionings' for example) and I want the full experience from start to finish. What I saw is enough to make me want to play more
Luckily it stopped right before I was going to give up, I hadn't seen the door to enter the office, as in the prompt literally wouldn't show up on my screen, so I was wandering around wondering what the hell I had to do, || or what I hade to trade with the monkey || to progress
I don't know if this is charming eurojank or if it's a result of it being a demo, a lot of other things were also super broken
but luckily it stopped right when it was starting to get a little frustrating so I managed to finish it in one go and I think it stopped at a good enough point to still keep me intrigued, I definitely don't think I'm gonna be piecing the story together any better than if I had stopped earlier
And there's a high chance we put our points in totally different things so we probably got different results up to where we respectively stopped
Maybe, I did try to go back to that final section and || this time I chose to tackle the photos guy, unfortunately it led to the exact same result I just... chose to tackle him before instead of just walking past ||
but to be honest, that was a physical check I somehow managed to pass, whereas the one I had chosen previously was I think an emotion check or whatever, which is how I was building up my character, but still I was hoping for a slightly different result or interaction there but nothing really happened
but I guess that's how it is with games this big with all these scenarios and choices, still wish it proved me wrong though... it was just the one interaction but it was the first showcase of that new mechanic so it would've been cool, I didn't go back to check and see what the other paths lead to so maybe I'm wrong and there was more to that
From Ocarina of Time, he was a Discord side quest giver, where you helped him to sell masks (with the ultimate reward being the Mask of Truth; it allows you to understand the Gossip Stones).
In Majora's Mask, he is knocked out prior to the start of the game by the Skull Kid, who takes the mask and becomes possessed by it. He follows Link once he comes to Termina and becomes Deku Link at the beginning of the game, showing himself afterwards in the inside of the Clock Tower.
Early on, once Link gets his Ocarina back and goes back to the start of the sequence, he teaches Link a song that:
"This is a melody that heals evil magic and troubled spirits, turning them into masks
Once freed, he asks Link for his end of the bargain, and flips out when he learns that he failed, but gives him 3 days to return his "precious mask" before he leaves. Link succeeds eventually and he leaves, its power gone.
https://giphy.com/gifs/mm-legend-of-zelda-majoras-mask-GJtfejeAtTuJa Known for that phrase mostly.
Play MM
Its fantastic, tho confusing
The 3ds remake does help you keep track of everything better
I've still got to finish the Zelda games I own haha, maybe afterward
Lol understandable
Majora's is weird, it's super sandboxy in its design, and it may be confusing but that's part of the adventure
Unfortunately it's not as clear cut whether the 3DS version is an improvement over the original like OOT... For as many qol improvements it may have, I feel like it messes with various things it didn't need to, to the point that if I were to recommend it it'd be with a BIG asterisk after
Regardless though definitely should be played at least once, hell I might actually need to replay it cause it's been a while
You are 100% correct that 3ds messes with things it didnt need to
But the fact the in-game notebook is far better at tracking tasks, which is far beter for new players, means its the version id recommend for new folks
it was almost cool

''....nevermind''

after Zero Parades I figured I'd keep it up with the RPGs and while I'm at it finally get through my ever growing backlog because despite how busy I am or aren't unless I go through some of this stuff at least a little bit every day I'm never finishing any of it
I almost forgot how nice it is to just exist and walk around the enviroments in this game, I think that's a self defense mechanism... everytime I remember I get more sad that Riot keeps shooting all of its projects in the back, I would've loved more League RPGs like this
What game is this?
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story
the Ultimate animations in this are also really nice, I appreciate how much they tried staying close to the artstyle of the actual game
the Ruined King RPG
TIL this exists
and that's exactly the problem
I never heard of most of the Riot Forge published games until recently.
Of those, Ruined King by far and away got the most eyes on it, I think it had a fairly successful launch. I also remember hearing about Hextech Mayhem too. The rest I'm not surprised folk have not heard of, I haven't either
Ruined King and Song of Nunu were kinda the ''biggest'' ones, Song of Nunu was pretty well anticipated by fans but I don't know if it reached anywhere outside of the League community and even then only the ones who were paying attention
Mageseeker and Ruined King are the best ones from what I've seen/heard
Convergence was... okay, the gameplay was fine, but the story was pretty bad actually. Song of Nunu is also okay especially if you're into the lore from what I hear, it's a fun little PS2 style platformer adventure, but probably no appeal to anyone outside of the League community unfortunately
the others I don't even know about even as a League fan
I think mayhem was a platformer or metroidvania sort or something similar
Convergence was the metroidvania, it wasn't super good though

OH NO GAMBLING-
I see you're using the PAL version, which is 50 FPS (or 25 FPS)
why not use NTSC instead?
the main reason to use PAL in emulation is if you want multilanguage support, and even then, it can be hacked around in many NTSC games (either thanks to leftovers or fan patches). RetroAchievements support is often limited to NTSC versions too, but I've seen a bunch of games support PAL there
That's a good qwuestion.
I don't know if there's a way to transfer saves if you want to continue your playthrough from PAL to NTSC though
eh i did one stage
some PAL games do support 60 Hz mode, but it's on a case-by-case basis, and usually requires you to hold a button on startup (which is nonstandard unfortunately)

So this means that Duke Nukem, the epitome of "America, Fuck Yeah"-itude, is in fact a Canadian.

Also, they confirmed that the FireRed & LeafGreen re-releases on Switch will indeed be compatible with Pokémon Home. So they're actually kinda worth grabbing just for that.

there is the Hoenn region, gen 3's Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
and ORAS too ig
7.5/10 too much water
Serebii Update: It is confirmed that you get the Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen after entering the Hall of Fame on Nintendo Switch www.serebii.net/index2.shtml
Oh thank god
funny you mentioned that
LAWL
LMAO
We've come full circle
what are the mystic ticket and aurora ticket ?
I got my copy of RE Requiem
Is he enjoying it so far?
ye
Nice
They're the event distributions for FR/LG that you're required to have in order to get Deoxys, Lugia, and Ho-Oh in them.
Historically, you were required to physically visit a limited time one-time Pokémon event and bring your FR/LG cart with you in order to get these items. They're otherwise not possible to obtain without hacks.
Penny (snapcube) streamed it last night too
at midnight eastern lol
o yeah Pokemon XDDDDD is coming to NSO
that's epic
Yeah. Adding a little hack to just automatically give them to you is such a huge relief.
Along with that and the fact that the FR/LG releases on Switch can actually do wireless local trading with other Switch consoles means that it is possible to legitimately complete the PokéDex in these releases.
...I kinda wish that you could trade with yourself if you bought both.
But oh well.
I do own multiple Switches
I guess I'll have to do that
It would've been cool if they had also shadow dropped Emerald in this manner too... but alas
I love when companies re-release old games on new hardware
...it's not like I can't play them right now if I wanted to. But I'd like to have the legacy titles in a format that's linkable to Pokémon Home.
It would be pretty epic if they had long-term plans to make that happen for all of them...
im sorry what the fuck
only the devs can use that broadcast feature
what the shit-
That's menacing
It's about the next Leagues event, which is themed after Yama, the contract demon
Slightly less funny, but only slightly
still can't believe Ash's English VA voices Jimmy in Ape Escape 2
p-1 was.. difficult
Oof
I think you should post the bloomberg article instead of the tweet that mention it
Manechat is not a twitter feed
Even then, avoid posting news for no reason
Only post things you want to talk about, and start the conversation instead of just posting it then leaving
I'll post the links instead of screenshots if the source has one
i genuinely might freak it
It would've been nice to see it happen
(Paywall)
Yes sometimes I don't talk about the subject I post. But I will start talking
"Sometimes"
To me if I share something it’s because I want to talk about it
It feels weird to just drop something and run
I will try though
I'll be honest, I still don't understand the obsession with Bloodborne remake
It just seems like one of those things gamers just want to happen just because rather than because there's anything to fundamentally improve on the experience there, people obviously loved Bloodborne and they clearly want more of it, but why do they keep asking for a remake instead of a sequel? Why this incessant obsession with remaking a game that's just barely older than 10 years now? Even if I wasn't so absolutely done with remakes so much that just thinking about the word sours my mood I'd still think the idea of remaking a game made in 2015 is ludicrous
i just want a pc port
I've only ever heard people asking for a pc port, what's this about a remake
I haven't played it in a long time but I might go back to it
What classes did everyone use on their first playthrough
A PC port is completely different from asking for a remake, whenever the topic comes up people are ravenous for this supposed Bloodborne remake, as if it's this long anticipated return for a super popular old franchise that has stayed dormant for 20 years or something, it's such a weird attitude I keep coming across that I still can't understand why
I would understand a remaster maybe, ports for modern platforms and PC with good optimization, but seeing people practically begging Sony for BB remake is just a next level must consume attitude to me
The full article:
A remake can come with a PC port
Thanks nire
What did you prefer Flitter Dark souls or Bloodborne
I did not play Bloodborne because it did not come out on PC
Ah you only play on PC?
I don't have PS3 money
Some games on the PS3 store are still full price which is really weird
ShadPS4 is starting to be really good for Bloodborne
not perfect yet, but I trust it'll keep on improving
hopefully we can find a fix for the reducing running speed when above ~105 FPS
Is that an emulator?
yes

Final time for RE9 requiem
around 20 hours (hard diff, classic mode)
the in-game timer counts ~10 hours but it's super not accurate
How was it
Best way I can put it without saying anything spoilery, it's a celebration of all the RE games up until this point
I actually really liked RE8 gameplay wise so I wouldn't say RE8 was a bad game but I would say this is probably gonna be the most well received out of the 7-8-9 'trilogy'
7-8 drew in the new audience, 9 is for the fans
It was preeeeetty good

I do, actually, that was a great video
"oh, you dont know who watney little is? i didnt mention him this ENTIRE time? WEEELL-"
somethin about it just tickles me
I see what they were going for but man did it miss hard
ok that taxi skip is ridiculous
whenever I see a point-and-click speedrun I always wonder why would that be a fun game to speedrun, but glitches like that explain it
it earned a place in my list of "long format videos that are so fun i rewatch them once a while". shoutout to legends like bobbybroccolis hendrik shön triology, fallout anthology agdq of 2020 and that one video about a absolute disaster of an arc of an anime i didnt even watch
ah, I've rewatched pannenkoek's invisible walls vid and bobbybroccoli's cold fusion trilogy
on top of all the obvious problems with this
did you really have to call it copilot
2 AIs called copilot was already too many
ONE was pushing it
In the words of a certain hyper-sane clown... we live in a society. And it's working my last goddamn nerve
Maybe someday everyone will figure out that AI doesn’t actually replace humans.
yet another reason I'm staying at the same company forever is no one here seems to have ever caught that delusion
Ai articles are pretty common now sadly
Honestly, bot-generated content has been common since the mid-2010s before the advent of LLMs…
But it has definitely exploded
Which makes sense, since even before the AI explosion written articles were already in massive decline, so eliminating more human now that is possible is the next logical step to keep the company profitable
There are some niches where auto-generated "news" is actually desirable, but not the LLM slop kind. The news department where I work has algorithms scanning for unexpected stock moves and has article templates so if something weird happens in the market it can publish a quick "just the raw numbers" article immediately without human intervention. An LLM would literally be too slow for this use case.
but for almost any other news-like use case, where you want some kind of synthesis or analysis or proper curation of which so-called facts are real and relevant, yeah you need well-paid humans, and you're probably only going to find those behind paywalls
Should've called this one "Pilot" just for the pun.
waiting for one they'll call "Autopilot"
Been a while! This should have come out in October but whatever
You can get any model here and use them as you please: https://ko-fi.com/suitntie22/shop/playstationallstarsx
Hopefully the next character wont take as long, but no promises.
Oh
oh this rules
oh this is good
Lara Croft getting health packs on the RPD while Crash is eating the herbs like a wild raccoon, that's good
gonna try out Cyberpunk again
So we have another playable build of the Avatar Fighting Game and now Toph is finally playable so lets go into a deep dive character overview and breakdown of everything she is capable of! She's got gigantic normals, a super command grab, tons of super armor and just bustling with everything that makes a character a big boy in a fighting game, e...
So Toph is apparently a super good character in this game
as expected of the melon lord
what is dat?
an animation reveal for Nemesis for a fan concept of a PS1 Smash clone
ah. COOL!
Is this the "mesugaki" azur lane fans are talking about
I wonder if Azur Lane just randomly assigns a personality trait to a ship or if they do research on its background like Uma Musume does
oh hey Neo is here
I'm scrolling through the Next Fest demos and I just saw this
M4A3E8 so cool
Now you can live in a life of a Sherman Tank Commander during the closing years of the second world war
THIS GAME HAS A D POINT
Sherman Commander seamlessly blends a fresh take on tank simulation with tactical RTS to deliver a unique mechanized warfare experience unlike any other game before.
Take command of the iconic American M4 Sherman tank and embark on an epic war adventure following Allied landings in Europe.…
Mar 14, 2026
Wow there is a D point
This is so cool
It gives IL-2 Sturmokovic Ground Battles
8gb of storage needed?? Thanks for bringing this demo to my attention
there's always interesting things in the Next Fest demos
I'd imagine a "boss tank" in this game is a Tiger I
Which can easily be taken out by the Easy Eight at rage
you can also take out a tiger 1 by streifing it till it breaks down
Strafing with what exactly
tanks get sprayed with machine guns and auto cannons all the time so it's no big deal, literally made for heavy tank fire imagine getting taken out with auto cannons
The real problem is CAS
Or Sherman Fireflies
Here's Tiger 231 after the battle of kursk (largest tank battle in history btw)
(interestingly enough, this same tank is in France now)
All these tigers needed to die was just Shermans (the regular 75mm won't be able to kill this, only the 76) or Bazookas.. I think so, that's what it took on Enlisted
Ps3 minecraft source code got leaked btw for anyone who cares lol
Includes the source code for all the console versions as well
And a pc version used for testing which is able to be compiled
I don't know with what. but seriously those tanks had often mechanical failures.
Nope, the Tiger I was actually mechanically reliable
It's up to how it's treated
It's just.. Overengineered, when it broke down it's harder to repair on the field
Compared to the Sherman's foolproof design atleast
Master mode Zenith seed in Terraria, most miserable play through ever - done
took about 45 hours going in blind to complete
every boss required a specialized arena
good shit
master mode is so cancerous i would rather do deathless infernum
I wish R6S had bots instead of players lol. I feel like i could play that game forever if I didn't have to mute the team chat because someone gets upset at me being bad at the game. sigh T_T
the problem with all pvp games in my opinion
My goat
yeah, for any team game it's like that with randoms. I suppose I could stick to 1v1 PvP titles, which I guess is basically RTS only at the moment?
yeah if i ever play multiplayer I just dont pay attention to the chat
sometimes there will be a gem like this
but in all seriousness, I think most Gamers would blame their teammates for losing, even if that isnt the issue, just the usual "it cant be my fault, I gotta blame something else"
I do not know what to say other than to not pay any mind to it, easier said then done, I know. But it is not "personal" if that makes sense, they'll just pin the blame on anyone that is not meeting their high expectations, just looking for a scapegoat
sure, and I could ignore chat for a while, or mute people if they got particularly bad but I'm starting to think my time would be better spent on singleplayer/co-op stuff
it's a shame, R6S gameplay is so good
most of these games never seemed to me like they could be fun unless played with friends you can trust to have the "what did I actually do wrong" constructive criticism conversation
I had a lot of fun playing casual in R6S, even with the occasional toxic teammate. I just enjoyed the faux-tac shooting elements and the gadgets and the interplay between all the systems in the game
You can twitch drone a goyo cannister to make cover for the attacking side, or (new) thatcher a wall to pretend you're breaching but breach elsewhere (admitedly a 2 person opperation).
And like, even when it does come to guns only, destructable walls opens up whole new angles
it helps that it's popular enough that you can get a game at 4am Australian time
oh you're aussie?
my sleep schedule is kinda messed up, dw
And speaking to games like League in particular, or other MOBAs, I used to have that thirst for victory, and a 1v9 was all the sweeter because it's possible to do. Working with randos was a skill to be honed, alongside CS'ing and skillshots hahah. At some point i lost it for league, but R6S casual que is so short and low-stakes that it stuck with me
I too critic my teammates on their performance in war thunder because holy shit they aren't kidding when they say German Tech Tree mains are bad at the game
Sometimes i have my moments but most of the time i end up at the top in the team while my teammates get a KD of 0.1
... I think you've missed the start of the above convo Neo. I was annoyed at the very behaviour you're espousing. if it's casual que, what does it matter that someones playing badly?
Casual queue can be even more toxic than ranked
do you think that's because the people who opt-in to ranked have better aligned expectations, or that the most toxic people are the type who'd stay in unranked to find people they can bully
all of the above
wake up babe

I once played a game that has ranked and unranked and unranked is much more toxic because all the bad toxic players playing ranked go to unrank to pick on newbies

Railways Untold is a mod that generates infinite, procedural train tracks from the Create...
Procedural infinite create mod train tracks
the beta seems to be yeah
nice nice, that'd be cool for a "mobile base" or something
where travelling is a major part of the group or solo playthrough
or you could spread out on the tracks and visit eachother via trains easily enough
a mobile train-base sounds great honestly. nomadic lifestyle and all that.
and theres plenty of mods for proper train systems
its create mod trains
but yeah
i would love a mod pack where like the world slowly desertifies or freezes behind you and you build a train base, keep moving forward, ahead of whatever's coming
- limited fuel
yeah
the bigger your train, the more fuel it uses
but you can build more eficcient engines and powerful fuel sources
start with mining coal and steam boilers, move onto nuclear power and electric engines
thats literally the dnd campaign im making
just without trains, its all on foot
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1177980/Little_Kitty_Big_City/ i just discovered this game exists and it looks adorable
A peaceful catnap turns into a whimsical adventure!
Will you make your way home or will you explore what the big city has to offer first? I mean, getting home is obviously your main priority. Obviously. Well, it's one of your priorities. Maybe more of a guideline... It's definitely on your To-Do list somewhere! But first? Exploration!

Cat based 3d platformer/puzzle game
I played it on gamepass last year, I recommend it
Sonic 4 is now filming
@green fulcrum
This image goes hard

Hell yeah
wait, is that Amy's hammer? is that what this is meant to show?
also, how was the third movie? I never did end up waching the sonic series of live action movies
imo all three were decent to good
Yup
I'm glad the first movie model got reworked
Can't wait for Amy Rose to be played by Chris Pratt
very cliche in a lot of ways but mostly solidly executed, I find myself laughing at the jokes and genuinely engaged by the action scenes even when it's blindingly obvious who will win and who will switch sides or power up or whatever
casting Jim Carrey as Eggman was a stroke of genius, I'm kinda glad that's how the next generation will remember him
