I remember 100% completing Lego 2K Drive. At least the base game before any of the seasonal content came out. They did something I wish a lot more games with a seasonal battle pass and content format would do. You can go back to any and all seasons and get the content for them at your own pace at any time from what I remember. That game is only the second game I've seen actually do that after the Halo Master Chief Collection. I don't think companies realize how good for all of them that would be for keeping players around, and making more money in case players wanna pay for past battle passes and the content later on after they've completed other ones. It would be really causal friendly

I pretty much automatically reject any game that has a meaningful in-game collection that you can't 100% by just playing. Like if there are items you can only get by spending additional money (beyond just "yes I bought the game and the DLC pack") or you had to have played at a specific time or you have to cross-link other games, and that part of the game is meaningful in any way, I'm out.

But yeah, the lack of direction and feedback for a new player is the main learning hurdle that newcomers have to get through. I find the recipe book greatly negates most of it, but there's still some of it there on figuring out what each item is for.
But in a way, having the player figure out what each item is for encourages exploration and experimentation. The recipe book shows you how to make it, now you get to see what it does, or if it's just a decorative item.

for example, some of my favorite puzzles in these games involve the locals having a fictional numeral system, and nobody wrote down a convenient translation for you; you're just supposed to figure it out from context... eventually
and it being possible to figure out the numerals becomes just one step in several complex puzzles later

I've never played it despite hearing of it, and the graphical jump from 2017 to now with the remastered graphics, it's night and day. Not to mention I think someone figured out what the new features are like new currency, new game changing mechanics, so it'll be the original, but it'll have some spins and tweaks. That's what remasters should honestly be. The same game as you knew it, but with some twists

1- Allow players fine grained control over speeding it up and slowing it up.
2- Allow players to automatically know someone else is building the same wonder (no need to tell them who.)
3- Allow players to invest resources into spying on someone to see their wonder progress and the rate they're building it.
4- Allow failed wonders to complete but give a smaller reward instead of a partial refund.
