There's entire videos going into comparing the original with Remastered, when it comes to the visuals a lot of the lighting got messed with, if you think the game looks good chances are if you look at the original version you'll think it looks even better

It's subtle stuff and small details that add up and make the game look cheaper in the remastered version compared to the original

the contrast is probably the biggest difference, DS1 is a very dark game literally speaking and it has pretty big contrast between dark and light but the remastered brightens the shadows a lot more, sometimes the textures and models themselves which makes things look really out of place

that particular moment got memed a lot at the time because you can even see the flat solid black part of the model inside Oscar's helmet being lit up by the light source when that didn't happen in the original
so it looks like he has black plastic in the visor rather than being open spaces

With all my previous characters I always aimed for a bit of a quality build so I'd always gravitate towards the Claymore as my weapon for the entire run but I also really like the Halberd and Lucerne, both are very excellent weapons too

I think for most of my last Dex run I went with a Falchion and an Estoc until I got Ciaran's blades which are probably arguably the best Dex weapons in the game and I built the character and aimed to get them since I started

The claymore is just such a sweet spot of being pretty fast with landing pretty substantial hits.
Very easy to use and versatile movesets for both tight corridors with the r1 overhead chop and wide sweeps for multiple targets with the r2

Even if half of those reviews were changed to positive overnight, the total reviews will still remain mixed, the community's trust will be shattered beyond repair, and Sony is still no longer selling the game in 177 countries.

Yeah I am so glad they fixed it and kept going at it. I haven't played the DLC part of the game though I do have it and can start it at any time, I just have to go to where the DLC is.

you know how the start of [Death Stranding] is a cutscene where the protagonist is forced to take shelter in a cave to wait out bad weather after losing their vehicle and half their cargo?
for me one of the best moments in the game was when all of those same things happened 100% organically for me during regular gameplay without any scripted events
which was of course entirely my fault for taking my vehicle through enemy territory
but choosing to rest under that tiny overhang until the rain let up was just enough to get the stamina I needed to get back to base alive

fwiw, I played HL1 after HL2 had arguably just stopped being "new", and I found both impressive, particularly for level design (enough that at the time I played all the HL1 expansions); it's exceedingly rare that nearly every room in a video game is instantly recognizable years after I played it

I just had the most bugged AI driving ever

Was riding with River to the mission objective... He got there but then something happened and the AI just forget where it was going and then drove around randomly. Then it randomly got aggressive and started running in to everything and everyone. And I just went for an aggressive ride all around the city, and out to the badlands and back. On a drive that was meant to last about 5 minutes.

It's inspired by a lot of things and it shows, I made the mistake early on to advertise it as very Silent Hill/Resident Evil inspired but that doesn't quite do justice to all the influences this game has and makes it sound less special, after you play it you can't really think of it anymore of it in terms of ''oh it's this X inspired game'' and you just start seeing it as a work of its own, at least that's how it was for me and that's why I think it's way up there with all its sources of inspiration
