I kinda wish this game had more aerial options, though that may be my DMC brain talking, but I may just need to get the hang of it and find what other crazy stuff you can do
I also wish the enemies had more health, though again it might be because of DMC
even with the more health option in the arcade mode they still die so quickly
also, unintentionally synced up with the bgm here:
Nire did you play Devil May Cry Peak of combat
even though I have no personal attachment to it I appreciate that they went full on with specifically the cartoon style of tmnt
No and I don't really have any interest in a gacha DMC game
I don't see why I would play an extremely watered down version of DMC with gacha mechanics and an ugly UI
they had something going on with the beta where you could actually do interesting things and it was an actually good mobile version of DMC but when they released that internationally they went full on gacha game
even if it released in the state that it was before I don't see myself playing a mobile game anyways but at least for anyone who did want to play one it was good before, now not only is it a gacha game it's also bad so I don't see the point
finally got to play peak of combat, today and tried to come up with some combos. Didnt unlock everything because i thought i could save for stuff like beowulf but it isnt in the game yet...So hopefully i can do more combos when more weapons get released for dante (and heres to hoping they fix some of the annoying gacha stuff too)

they had something going on but they had to ruin it
one of my favorite encounters in fire emblem three houses is death knight 1 during rite of rebirth. its so early in the game ur kids arent all that high level yet (unless ur abusing normal mode of course) nor do you have SOTC with you yet. the game outright telling me "please dont mess with the guy he will flatten you" activates some gremlin response in me.
on ng+ it is downright delightful to one shot him with lysithea's dark spikes T on first turn bc tis what she deserves, but im not on ng+ this time and i forgor to speedrun leveling reason to B bc i was too busy to get budding talent in swords (soulblade thunderbrand my beloved).
so instead i had to get creative, taking pot shots with gambits and usin claude and byleth's main character beefiness to tank what's otherwise a KO counter for curved shot, wrath strike and finish with lysithea's glass cannon Luna A... love that for myself. having a wonderful time, ||get fucked jeritza you edgelord||. and well, satisfaction of fight aside an early dark seal is a great bonus too

it's a christmas miracle!

Pretendo shall save the day
This picture made me remember why I get confused with xbox controls
Why must the a and b be switched
might be a Japan/US thing, remember that the "confirm" action is on the right in Japan while it's at the bottom in the US
(see the Playstation controller: O is confirmation in Japan, but X is used in US/EU)
yea in japan its cirlce to confirm on ps
Oh huh
it actually makes more sense idk where they got the X from for the west
pretty sure they used X to confirm because it needed to be edgy for an US release
O is too conformist 😶
there may be a better explanation but it's the main one I can think of when I see Japan/US differences
(there is a trope for it, "US Kirby is Angry" because Kirby always appears angry on US boxart, but not on Japan boxart)
ah yes the edgiest things known to man needed to appeal to western audience
sonic the hedgehod,a weirdass bandicoot, and X instead of cirlce
triangle being cancel is a PS1 thing, PS2 already switched to O as I recall
And PS2
No I have a bunch of games on PS2 that used triangle to go back
I think the OS used circle for back though
maybe
this also reminds me how Gran Turismo 1/2 have entirely different soundtrack in Japan, US and EU
Japan is chill jazz to relax and study to, while US and EU are pop rock (with menu soundtracks being synth music that I find pretty good)
I miss when a characters voice in a game would literally say something like 'press the X button to jump'
haha, that tends to be too 4th-wall for me
I love the 4th wall break of it
'Did you know that you can hold the A button to glide while mid air? Oh you did? Okay'
Somebody tell me to press the X button to me irl as I go to jump over something
For the same reason the Playstation and Xbox didn't just identically make the same controller as the previous Nintendo consoles at the time
It's their design that they probably own, you can't just replicate it, so they switched the buttons
p sure sony does literaly own thje design, not sure abouty the other 2
I really like my Xbox
Interesting
In Japan, the 'O' actually has a name, and it's used as a confirmation mark for everything, it's just how their language and culture is, in english and other languages there really isn't anything similar other than a check mark and there's no check mark button so you just make the more familiar symbol which is the X the confirmation instead
As of now even in Japanese games they have switched it to being X for confirmation and O for cancel all across the board
That must be confusing for them
That's also probably why the triangle was the cancel button in the PS1, because it probably didn't really matter so they didn't know which one to really use
I play Xbox because A is like aaaaaaa you open your mouth and B is like beh bleh you don't want this food
i have an xbox one, and a ps5, and xbox one is my main console
This brings back fond memories. The old Spyro games did this a lot, and it was always so charming.
i pretty much only use my ps5 if i want to play spiderman remastered, or play fort with much better graphics than on xbox one
though i really havent been trying to make the ps5 become my main console
rather stay on xbox one
despite like every dev refusing to release new games on the xbox one at all
Im trying to decide whether i want to buy Divinity: Original Sin 2 or Lethal Company on steam with my gift card
What should I replay first? AC: Black Flag or Far Cry 4?
Far Cry 4
please tell me if you play this game, it's fucking siiiiick
i like the bad guy in that game
Pagan Min
it would have been cool if when you got the secret ending you got a whole different path of the game
Thanks, time to see if I really remember every inch of that beautful Kyrat
I
Well I don't know right now since I'm just dipping my toes in this stuff with Shredder's Revenge but the fact that it was made by a guy from here is putting it in my radar at least
I bought Divinity: Original Sin 2
also the former party of castle super beast played it too
Oooooo, I hope you have fun! Before Baldur's Gate 3, D:OS 2 was considered the best CRPG on the planet (and to be perfectly honest, I still prefer quite a few aspects of it over BG3, particularly in combat and spells, although that's not really BG3's fault but D&D's)
I'll be playing it when i build my pc
Be prepared though, the combat can be brutal sometimes, especially in Tactician. There's also quite a few moments where you will be afraid.

DOS2 does have straight up better combat, not being tied to D&D allows it the freedom to make a combat system intended for video games and not tabletop rpgs
time to get enlisted as a sniper,mf got fucked up through the busges could only see its antlers
why are you hunting down your own kind
One moment in particular in early Act 2, to be precise. There will be other times, but that moment where all of your characters are separated (you'll know it when you get to it) is truly terrifying, especially if you're not expecting it.
was uuuh testing if friendly fire was on
I know almost nothing about D:OS2 besides that its turn based
Also, just a tip to remember: ranged characters in D:OS 2 are OP. Every party needs at least one, because they absolutely shred everyone and everything they come across.
This goes for enemies too.
Always always always take out the ranged enemies and mages first. You'll thank me later.
I hope i remember that
Theoretically, every character can be a mage, a melee fighter, and an archer all at once. They just won't be able to specialize very well.
Thus, it's better to have the classic four archetype party: archer, tank/fighter, healer, mage.
For my party, I usually have The Red Prince as my fighter, damage-soaker tank, and backup mage (at least for fire and earth spells); Ifan as my archer (obviously), crowd controller, and backup healer (first aid spell, my beloved); Fane as my primary mage, identifier, and terrain-changer; and Lohse as my primary healer, buffer, and terrain-clearer (rain spell, my beloved).
Oh, almost forgot, if you want the greatest amount of mobility for both Ifan and The Red Prince for this party, give Ifan a little bit of the warfare skill and The Red Prince a little bit of the huntsman skill, just enough for both of them to get each other's jumping ability. This way, both of them will have two jumping abilities, and since the two jump abilities are in different spell categories, you can use both on the same turn, enabling you to move extremely far and fast across the battlefield. It's absolutely necessary for an archer to gain a sniping position from up high, and I highly recommend it for a melee fighter so that you can move quickly to either create chokepoints or to defend your support characters.
Very fun game
Welcome home, my friend!
Yeah, we're gonna have a good time!
Welcome home again!

I love this song
It's going to be a little hard to get in tune with keyboard an mouse Ajay, but wow still a beautiful place
shovel my beloved
@slim thorn I forgot to ask, have you been checking for all the stepladder jokes in the game?
ha this is really funny
https://fixupx.com/syacvg/status/1739716950949859600?s=46
I wasn't aware this was a thing to be doing consciously; I found the one in Studio 1 organically
It is a staple joke throughout the entire franchise. They even have a steam achievement for it iirc
The script is basically identical, but it's fun to see if you can find all the stepladders in the games
there's also a text file sitting by two dead dudes and a motorcycle by a train tunnel entrance
Bloody hell why is MGS2 so hard!!
I’ve died 22 times now in this one area (yes I’ve been counting)
Yeah exactly
Yeah older games can be harder I find
I’m taking a break from it for now.
It's like how GTA5 is way easier than GTA3
Old games can be easy too
I just played through Final Fantasy 2 and yeah, that game is easy, few enemies/bosses pose any real danger. Some do, but they are few.
I love Final Fantasy 2 specifically because of how you can abuse the stat system
It was alright, but didn't feel the need to abuse the system, I kind of just walked along and completed the game. I wiped once to the last boss because I thought I'd be smart and mana drain him, but when he just auto attacks, he is so nuch more dangerous
It's not that you need to abuse the system. It's that you can
It does have a lot of freedom with gear and spell choices, which is nice
I like the GBA version of FF2 that has an extra post game chapter with much trickier enemies
GBA?
eh gta isnt a good example of age=difficulty imo, most of the difficulty comes from the lack of quality of life features not actual design
Game Boy Advance
Ah
That moment when someone doesn’t immediately recognize what GBA means in the context of gaming
You just aged me by 20 years
I'm probably older than you, I just didn't have a GBA
And wasn't around any who did
Not really sure what to play now. I’ve played Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Now what?
The games I haven’t played yet that I recently acquired are:
Soul Reaver 2
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Oni
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing
SOCOM: U.S Navy Seals
Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls is a compilation of the first two Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004. It was first released in Japan as Final Fantasy I∙II Advance (presumably named after the Famicom compilation, Final Fantasy I∙II). Graphically, Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Soul...
The GBA version is my favorite

wow
Huh. Going through my steam wishlist, i'd forgotten about this. Hope we get more info about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmefiirV0JM
Ghost Story, the studio from Bioshock creator Ken Levine, finally announced its highly anticipated debut title Judas during the 2022 Game Awards. Judas is an immersive sim, bursting from the seams with Bioshock-like imagery.
ah yes, the "not bioshock" game
The trailer does say "from the creator of bioshock". My man, i could've told you that even without the text
blah; this was my first monkey ball experience
was generally fun, but like, oooo, some of those stages
Did you like it?
I did!
I GONK
THEREFORE I AM
Gonks really are the unsung heroes.
I'm playing the Witcher and I didn't want to play cards with a bad guy because I don't know how and now they want to beat me up
You should have just said yes
The game teaches you how
(they still beat you up after)
Right. You're playing The Witcher 3?
So basically Witcher sat down looked at the cards and throw them 😭😆😆 and so I used Load game
Witcher 3 Gwent guide:
1- Put cards on your side of the field.
2- Each card adds strength. Make sure your total strength is higher than the enemy.
3- Best out of three wins the overall match, so ration yourself.
That's all you need to know
I always ignored Gwent so far
I liked Gwent fine
Witcher 3: everyone lies to you and want to fight with you
Somehow.. 10W mode is unplayable... 15W mode is great... And then 25W mode is a very small improvment over 30W
Got a good 2 and a half gaming session in... While connected to my phone charger from 100% battery
It went down to 7% in 2.5 hours while charging

Honestly this year wasn't amazing as far as releases go, I think 2022 was probably better.
and 2021 was absolutely the best of this current decade thusfar.
Sounds like someone who didn't play the new call of duty!
The last time I played a COD game on release was black ops 3
I honestly literally do not remember what came out in 2021 or 2022
But I think 2023 has been good for games, maybe the one positive thing
for 2022 the bigger releases of the year were Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok, as well as Elden Ring
Though also a bunch of other great stuff came out
I liked 2023 a lot
Triangle Strategy, Stray, Citizen Sleeper, Neon White, Splatoon 3,
Vampire Survivors,
DNF Duel, Pokemon Legends Arceus,
Triangle Strategy was 2023
Cult of the Lamb, Tunic
Wasn't it?
I could swear it came out early 2023
TIL it's on PC
Maybe you thought about Octopass traveler 2?
OT2 was out since early 2023
PK doing a lot of learning in the last few minutes
Honestly games have not been super interesting to me in 2021 or 2022
The only games mentioned that clicked for me were Triangle strategy and Splatoon 3
I've not heard of that one either
but it also had Deathloop, Hitman 3, Resi: Village, Monster Hunter Rise, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Biomutant, the ME Legendary edition, Little Nightmares 2, Guilty Gear Strive, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart,
And some games I didn't care for but a lot of people did like halo infinite, inscryption, forza 5, It takes two, metroid dread, psychonauts 2, marvels guardians of the galaxy, far cry 6
I see
by viewing this definitely objective chart of the 100 best games of all time you can see that I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is #1
It would've been higher if Linhardt could be a Gremory
pain and misery and agony
But yeah many of these titles are unknown to me
here's one for all our dreams of dark mage lys, gremory lyn, war master hilda etcetera etcetera
the titles from this year i've liked include Goodbye Volcano High, Spiderman 2, Stray Gods, Fire Emblem Engage, and Diablo 4
But like, Engage and Diablo 4 are just kinda "good" but not amazing
also I think the DLC maps are poop but I like the DLC story and the Ashen Wolves as characters.
For me this year it's been TotK, Mario Wonder, and SMRPG
I just... man, some of those maps 😔
didnt like the run away in this many turns maps?
Been also having a lot of fun with Darktide
Need to play more AC6 too but I think the story is terrible
So it's hard to enjoy
I love getting a game over if any of my units fall
And not being able to grind or customize them beforehand
I haven't played Ac6 yet, I want to.
The game play is fun but it's an extremely heavy game. It makes me upset
its the only time ive used any armored class lmaooo
they're just too slow n magic vulnerable for me
i have not finished that one shhhh
Oh yeah armored core is def on my list to play at some point
It is better than it has any right to be and also more flagrantly gay so I enjoyed that
i started and then just. uh. went back to another 3h replay lol
rlly need that turn based combat fix for my mental wellbeing sometime
fe3h is my go to comfy game
now if only i didnt need to babysit gilbert on this map...
My entire strategy for the base game of 3h devolved into a strategy I called Turbert, short for Turbo Hubert
Basically Lysithea teleporting him into the middle of the entire enemy force and letting him get to work
JustMonica

as someone who doesn't pay much attention to new releases, even 2022 managed to feel quite dry
2022 does mark the first year where Sony really upped their PC port game though (no pun intended). It's a hat trick of great PC ports, 3 in a row (God of War + Spider-Man + Miles Morales)
why yes darling you can get a horse, two relics and all my stat item buffs
now go murder everyone for me
i love one shotting everything halfway across a map
OG Far Cry is like that, except it's you getting one shot
bonus points if it was an AI that spotted you through a tent if you didin't install the tent fix 🙂
same
This year has been so good that I constantly forget games when looking back on it
There has been too much stuff I enjoyed, and I also have like, 2 or 3 titles that i didn't have time to play and I have to go back to
At least usually the start of the year is not super good for games, so I might have time to catch up on some of them
Dont forget with all the good we got some of the worst games ever too
Eh
And one literal scam!
The worst games of the year were all just mismatched expectations
Flitter, a game you have wishlisted on Steam is free on Epic atm - https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/cursed-to-golf-a6bc22
Yeah but fuck epic
free games is free games
In fact I'm just removing my steam wishlist out of spite
okay
and they really arent **that **bad
especially compared to other game companies
Man you are truly brainwashed
not really
I can always have free games if I want by simply pirating them
Epic is okay
The only thing i ever bought from the epic store was kingdom hearts 1 and 2 for pc
Valve is a bit better, but not that much
This year valve made some major gains
epic is tame compared to a lot of the shit that happens at other game companies
cough activision cough
Lot of the gaming companies who had their own launchers started releasing their games on steam again
I got four copies cus this looks really fun
Valve has the better service hands down, but mostly because EGS is terrible and I feel it just got worse since it released.
Have fun! It's an enjoyable game
Yeah. That was really stopped epic from being a major competitor
EGS has had some improvements here and there
They didnt want to spend all that fortnite money on actually improving their launcher/store
But also, Epic doesn't enable kids gambing through their store and their games, definitely the more ethical companies between the two despite Fortnite dark patterns if you ask me
The reason I don't like to engage with Epic is they tend to choose being developer friendly over being consumer friendly when faced with the option, and as a consumer I don't like that.
well yeah their focus isnt on the EGS
its on slowly shifting fortnite itself into a "everything game"/platform /metaverse
thats what their spending most of their time on
Well actually, they also did pretty awful layoffs so maybe this isn't the case anymore, it's still a race tho
pretty much every company gaming related has done layoffs this year
that isnt specifically only an epic thing
Tech in general, really
yeah pretty much
I mean, I don't really care about Fortnite, and when I click on the EGS button it takes 5 mnutes to load and tends to freeze my computer for seconds at a time, so sorry, that software is shit and I hate to use it.
The layoffs are primarily a consequence of companies overextending because interest rates have reached historical lows and the execs' eyes were replaced with cash symbols
plus they were literally spending more money than they were actually making
Yes that's what overextending means
There is no game launcher that should perform as badly as that one on a gaming computer with 32 GB of ram
Mmhmm, companies that were aggressive are having ebb and flow issues. Very conservative companies are having an easier time right now.
i dont think ive ever really had any issues with EGS at all on my pc, or my brother's pc
it just boots right up without any freezing
Also i really only use EGS for when i open the ark dev kit
which eats 32 gb of ram btw
Yeah those companies are bad too
i only use it if i have to claim like a free item or something for fort or fall guys when they have an item thats pc only
i mainly play on xbox one
i dont really use my pc for games at all
Most of my activity otherwise on egs is just claiming free games
https://fxtwitter.com/playstation/status/1740047563577758189? @graceful bridge
The PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for January are:
➕ A Plague Tale: Requiem
➕ Evil West
➕ Nobody Saves the World
Full details: http://play.st/47d8l9i

Well overall bad is maybe hasty, but it's bad that they laid off a bunch of people
I have never heard of these games.
Evil west is a good game.
the other big thing that was costing them a lot was that whole 40% net revenue to map/game creators thing
was like super hefty due to people abusing it by making like super simple duplicate games of stuff that other people already did
And the licensing for the collabs/etc
also super expensive
Plague tale is about rats

All I'm hearing is that they are bad at their jobs so they had to lay off a bunch of people.
Did the executives salaries got cut because of it?
How do they even lose money by taking a 60% cut?
I think a large part of Epic expenses is the games they give away
And in general promotions for the EGS
It could be
Which is good, i like those, more money to the devs and more games to consumers
yeah the free games and promotions and the collabs are probably the most expensive part
especially for the harder to get characters/celebrities
like Eminem, the rock, etc
Also I must admit, their sales are basically old Steam Sales level
Back when they were good
Would be nice if they had regional discounts
Yeah it sucks that they don't do that
Valve is definitely better about region pricing by a very large margin.
eminem especially must have cost a ridiculous amount
jack Skellington too
Which is what I mean with the fact that the EGS is insuffiecent.
I was actually a lot more positive on it when it released, but years have passed and it really didn't change that much.
I don't even care about community features, I don't really use them on Steam and Steam forums are actually tied with 4chan with the worst place online, so I'm fine with Epic not having that, but it needs to be competing with Steam on store features and right now is just doesn't
And it doesn't seem to be making any strides towards that after all these years
Honestly I have to say, I cannot but doubt that those collabs were that beneficial, especially if it was so costly that they had to suffer significant loss
The Fortnite collabs are always gonna make money I feel.
It's the EGS side that is bleeding money
from what theyve mentioned in interviews, theyve confirmed the collabs wont be slowing down/stopping at all
theyre gonna continue to keep doing them
thankfully
back when donald mustard retired as chief creative officer and Charlie wen took his place i was a bit skeptical on if the collabs would stop at all
Charlie seems to be like still fully on board with the whole idea luckily
so the journey towards an everything game will continue
Look i just want my shrek skin
same
like with how insane 2023 and 2022 were for collabs, 2024 has the chance to be even more insane for collabs
I'm still unsure about the whole "oh this is an everything game" concept, but I guess it's better for a game to have a goal that is not just "we make more money money good"
Not that they don't try to make more money
I mean, it's basically Smash Bros as an idea
Yeah but it's still just that
Yes but also it is kind of proven that just "oh we have characters" is not really what sells
its more than just the characters
It's what sold Smash for a lot of people
It does appeal, but eventually the game itself is what sells
I started playing Fortnite when they added My Hero Academia characters and now Im playing again because they added Peter Griffin
Oh yeah, you have to like the game, but that applies for Smash as well, if you hate smash you are not gonna play it no matter who they add.
My point is that while I understand the concept, it can't be the core of the game
And yeah they are also adding gamemodes and stuff, so it's not just one game, necessarily, but also, it's one main game mode at the very least
So the entire game wanting to be "the everything game" feels somewhat weird to me
That is a great marketing material
But not a great development goal
the other part of it is to slowly have every possible game you'd want to play spanning every possible genre
built by full on game devs and teams
That is even weirder to me, because why would you play fortnite if you want other genres
Like, very few people that hated Warcraft 3, were buying it to play a custom map, and so far that's what they are doing in fortnite. custom maps.
It's been done before
Yes for sure but again
And on paper you could play a RPG in Warcraft 3, it was made, but people really didn't
That's not what WC3's core gameplay was
there's a multitude of reasons to have your game within the fort ecosystem
The custom maps were the real game in WC3 though..
Like you would buy a whole fucking racing game if you want to play a racing game
Fortnite is baffling to me
Not play a racing game map in WC3
There is also a multitude of reasons not to also.
Could say the same about the old counter strikes tbh
with the rocket racing you have your rocket league cars able to be usable within it
And any cars you get within fort can then also be used within rocket league
I can't put bill gates in my drug empire game but I can in WC3
it shifting to a "everything game" is its identity
from the beginning it was never only a BR
that was just a mode within the ecosystem
this has been their goal since 2017
They should put a hot topic in fortnite. You could go and buy virtual funko pops
That is my exact concern
Yeah but like
"everything game" as an identity
Peter Griffin and Goku? What the fuck?
yeah sure why not
Here is a question, if I make a game within fortnite, who owns the rights to that game?
if it gets big and I want to make a sequel outside of Fortnite, is Epic that has the rights to it for example?
its hilarious
I could understand something like a Jump game that combined sister franchises
Or Smash
Why would you want to make games out of Fortnite
But Fortnite is just... extremely strange
Wait I thought Fortnite was a shooter
What's this about making games in it
so essentially theyre working towards having it, to where you can take a game you made within fortnite, and transfer it to being its own game if you want to
you would still fully own the rights to all your assets
it would be able to be taken straight from fortnite to UE5 if you want to
"They are working towards" seems very unclear to me
I should read the ToS for that sutff
this is from stuff theyve mentioned in interviews
Because that was the big kerfuffle with DOTA 2 and Blizzard
the transfering games thing hasnt been implemented yet
theyre working on untangling fortnite from unreal engine to where UE6 is literally UEFN
fortnite will essentially just be a bundle of code
Defense of the Ancients was originally a custom Warcraft 3 map.
Nowdays most games that allow custom maps, own the rights to everything you do within there, to prevent another DOTA situation.
it has shooter games within it yes
its a platform of games
Autochess be like:
I'm not talking about doing it mechanically, I'm speaking of who owns the legal rights to it.
Of course you wouldn't own the assets, but if you wanted to remake the assets yourself and remake the game in unity, I wonder if Epic would own the name of your game.
any asset you made yourself you'd own yeah
I'm pretty sure Autochess is the exact case where they could recreate the whole game with different assets and release it
Since it was originally a DOTA2 custom mode
gildedguy as well too lol
Turn out I am still good at the game eve after half a decade not playing.
Pagan's outposts are going to be a breeze, i'm going to try not to use guns just to see if I can
I have no idea who or what that is
super iconic animator
I think the more you show PK the more PK will feel weird about the game
What like a real person?
the character itself is like pretty much him
I think my biggest problem with Fortnite is Disney had brain worms and shoved in canon lore that set up Rise of Skywalker
oh yeah lol
Which is the biggest galaxy brain case of idiocy I've seen
that message from palpatine that you could only hear if you watched that event
was super sick
Oh the duality of the humanity
It was horrible
Like, it not being in Fortnite wouldn't have affected the awfulness of the film, but I literally cannot fathom why they'd do that
it was part of their whole connecting everything goal
they did the same with DC Comics and Marvel
having their own comic series that were canon to to marvel and dc respectively
"More zoomers will like our franchise if we do this"
i mean the comics themselves mainly focused on like the lore of the game
well
granted Wolverine had hooked up with a fortnite character in one of them
"Don't worry, we'll gain more young fans if we do this"
I'm stunned speechless
I bought Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty
nice
To be honest, I would have been mad if the movie was good, but since it was a massive trainwreck it kind of added to how funny the whole thing was.
idk if i can post the page after that lol
like its not nsfw at all but still kinda toeing the line
It is interesting to see all those while living in a place where fortnite is barely even a thing
And also, on the other hand, if you are a kid I assume it must be pretty sick.
And i'm not gonna be the adult that goes "but these kids with their videogames"
Star Wars is not that deep or important.
If a bunch of kids are having fun with it that's good.
I'm not debating my cousin kids out of liking Rise of the Skywalker
That sounds like a bad time for everyone involved
Ive been wanting to play Evil West so this is great
I will still silently judge Capitain Mario over it, but ironically.
its like when people got annoyed with people liking the prequels a long time ago lol
despite them not being what they grew up on
like sure theyre different, but they arent really "bad" at all
As an outsider looking in, it feels very hollow and soulless
Oh I can rant for hours about how bad the prequels are
It's just the sequels are worse
i prefer the prequels way more than the originally trilogy
with padme being like one of my all time favorite fictional characters ever
Yeah same as Smash, you want to see Pikachu beat up Sephiroth? Why the hell not
i mean
I literally have no idea what I am looking at
Frieza from Dragon ball next to a Lambo Hurican STO
why not
It does look like a bad photoshop
As I said, I think the more you show the more PK will feel weird about the game
its like super surreal to even see lol
I thought we were talking about Fortnite
that is fortnite lol
???????
thats a real in game shot lol
The important pat is that outside of active fortnite players... people just don't care if it's surreal or not
BR is a mode/game within the ecosystem
Well it's the main game mode.
Please consider not using acronyms when explaining new concepts to people.
people want to sell it as a "do whatever" and while it has aspirations to get there, so far it's still mostly a BR game
Battle Royale
Ah, thank you
you can straight up play Rock Band and Lego minecraft fortnite in the game as well lol
It is. There's other game modes/maps that can be created by players or Epic themselves to allow for different 'games'.
On the map, you can find vehicles to get around faster. A recent update (i think) implenented real cars rather than generic ones. And frieza is just a collab
I wonder if they managed to make Frieza look short
the newer update added it to where cars are now a cosmetic type
so when you get in a certain vehicle it changes to whatever car you have equipped
so now the car you drive can be uniquely yours
instead of just generic sports car 3, etc lol
theyre gonna slowly transfer over other Rocket League vehicles as well to be usable
and then any cars you unlock within the game itself become usable in rocket league and rocket racing
Why couldn't all that have been on one line?
Today's video is sponsored by Fortnite! Thank you Epic for sponsoring our video
Chill
That's just how I type lol
Tchernobog doesn't bully AriannaThePrincess13 for 10 minutes challenge (impossible)
lol
At any rate, yeah, probably not gonna play it anytime soon, but it's interesting.
My cousin kids love it and it's interesting to talk about it with them.
It's an interesting weird thing and they have a bunch of fun in it with their friends.
God I hate when children have fun
I heard about the lego thing and that sounded really fun but I haven't downloaded the update to get it
They should be doing homework
Really not interested in BRs currently and the secondary stuff sounds like a pain to get in
With the live event a few weeks ago they had kinda teased a full on snowboarding and basketball game
And fall guys will likely be implemented within fort as well in the next year or so
Based on the event and with stuff that's been leaked
The lego thing kinda sucks its just worse minecraft
and I can barely get into real minecraft so I had no fun
And the layer of Fortnite as the platform does mean that if you aren't interested in Fortnite itself, you have to deal with it to get to the stuff you care about which isn't a positive.
lol oh, damn. guess I ddin't miss anything then
Well yeah its gonna get more stuff as time goes on
It only just released a few weeks ago
And epic is on their vacation
It has a hell of a lot of content in the first update alone
My 2 cents, is that, if you aren't a fortnite player even only occasionally, you probably aren't really installing it for the other stuff.
It has been the case for every "custom maps" game in history, and they might prove me wrong, but I'll have to see it.
That said it's still cool that Fortnite players have more stuff to do.
I just don't buy the "you can do everything" because I've seen it parroted 100 times and it always failed to garner more than the people that were already playing the game anyway.
But we'll see
That's usually the case
This sort of feature keeps people playing the game for longer more than it draws new people in
Yeah and that's fair
I think gmod is the exception, if you count that
And that was indeed my initial point
The exception is games that are sold from the outset as sandboxes
Lotta people who have cs source just for the assets
With this it isn't only custom maps/games
Its full on games by dev teams as well
Rocket racing by psyonix, festival by harmonix, lego fortnite by lego, etc
Over time more and more studios will jump on board and start releasing full on games too
They also have on the roadmap to where you'll be able to make full on AAA games and seamless worlds
Yeah that's the pitch, I just don't think it'll work out as the marketing team is selling it as
I feel that rather than more people jumping on board, the hype will die out, most people will still just play the BR and that's it
it just has to be good and people will play it
Look at Hearthstone
they made an entirely new game mode (battlegrounds) that was (and might still be) more popular than the main game mode
Well the auto battler genre is quite awkward
Yes true, but it's not a separate studios that came in and released a separate mode in Heartstone
The two most successful ones beside the original Autochess were TFT and Battleground
Thats true but no one will really care about who made it as long as its good
Both additional game modes of existing games
Battlegrounds is so good
Thing is, if you make a game within Fortnite, your max number of players is the people in Fortnite
If you game a game not in Fortnite your max number of players is higher.
The question is if being in fortnite is beneficial or not and I'd argue that for big gaming companies it will probably not be.
Almost as good as Slay the Spire
"Will you install DOTA2 to play Autochess, or install League to play TFT, or install Hearthstone to play BG?"
Being in Fortnite might help you if you are really small depending how their discoverability is.
I mean at most all you should need in your game right now is 100 players or less
And they'll likely try getting that increased to make seamless worlds possible
Since they use AWS for their servers
"If you can make Forza Horizon you don't have to make Fortnite Horizon"
Also yeah games are easily able to be found in the menu
Newly released games within it have been able to reach a few hundred thousand players pretty quickly in some cases
Yeah, I just don't think it's a thing that will work, because it never worked, and I am not just going to believe a marketing department just because they are telling me.
If they can make it work more power to them.
I am not just going to believe a marketing department just because they are telling me.
"Why would someone go on the internet and tell lies?"
Well might not be lies
It's just their intention spun in a very positive way
But they are paid to tell me it'll work that way, their spin doesn't count
A somewhat newer red vs blue deathmatch game has like 79k people playing right now
Something like
"We will try to make it happen eventually"
Then on the next layer down you have """leakers""" oh so conveniently being right 100% of the time anbd never seeing any retrubution from Epic
An uwu gun game where it plays the uwu sound every time you get an Elim was also able to get pretty high player counts
A few only up games as well
Yeah, seems in line with a custom maps game style
Which is good, to be clear, i think Epic is smart with leveraging the fact that they own a massively successful game and a game engine.
I am just skeptical that it'll become a real platform for games where developers consistently release new games to instead of doing it on steam.
My bet is that, it will maybe happen a handful of times if Epic comes with a big truck of cash to some devs doorsteps but organically probably never.
I'll reassess in a year if my instinct was off on it.
What I'm curious if we'll see simultaenous releases outside and in Fortnite.
That'd be a lot more realistic.
when they do end up putting rocket league and fall guys both within the ecosystem its gonna be super wild lol
theyll likely bring on a dev team to make the basketball game, and snowboarding game
and different games as time goes on
Completely unrelated to this, I've been making my way through The Case of the Golden Idol and while I'm late to the party, this game released in 2022, fuck man it's so great
"open source" isn't really correct here, it's more "source available"… and leaked source at that
you don't have any rights to use the source for any purpose
This is the kind of game I rant about when I say I can't enjoy Ace Attorney games because they aren't really deduction games.
I wish some big devs took the formula and made a big shot game with it
someone just gifted me Death Stranding: Director's Cut, so I'll try to find some time to play it
(I had the standard edition on EGS already, but this is on Steam too)
HAMMER DOWN!
Death Stranding is pretty great, the start is a bit slow tho
It's worth sticking with it at least
Still such a beautiful place
Watch the stream here:
https://piratesoftware.live
#Shorts #Starfield #Bethesda
remember to claim yo EGS game
damn lol
just found a interview from yesterday from the head of harmonix explaining a lot of that whole "everything game" discussion from earlier a lot better than i can
way after the discussion already ended
hehehe
flying in a mini Death Star as Ep III Anakin
i need to play the skywalker saga more
i think im on like ep 5 right now
lol how have I not seen this one yet. His Todd Howard impressions "People went to the moon and they weren't bored" was hilarious
i watched this dudes stream all the time, man. i love that guy
dude's name is Thor. how fkn cool is that
HE SAID THE THING
Wtf they speak in Lego games now?
they use movie clips in some games
afaik a lot of it is re-recording dialogue
at least for skywalker saga
with the mumble cheat being already available
money money money
I see you also bought it
It was $10 so i figured i get it also
had it for a while, got back into it lately
i think i had bought skywalker saga back when it first came out
the deluxe edition or w/e
hahaha, Grevious looks sol awkward on the GODNK
You know who we should make playable in Skywalker Saga?
PREGNANT PADME
i mean yeah
thats like a huge part of the prequels
so it makes sense to include that version of her lol
Trixie
Padme but she's Pregnant with Trixie
Star Wars if it was epic:
(Trixie is also pregnant)

was referring to Padme lol
Yeah, Padme (Pregnant [Trixie])
Padme pregnant with Trixie
Who?
why the squint emoji 🤨
he was a mechanic for the Resistance in Rise of Skywalker
Oh that's the uncle of the naked twin aliens from Men in Black
ive never seen Men in Black
when will Wookieepedia move to an independent website
i tire of fandom
Use breezewiki for now
Goofy and adorable in their own way, somehow.
RoS had a lot of good new aliens
trotadomes and whatever Babu Frik is are the highlights for me
Anzellan
It's so true
Say the line, Bart!
im sobbing because of the ladder it's so funny
hc is there a Yoda v Sidious bossfight
yes!
Hopefully he got the rest he so badly needed.
Dude literally almost kills himself on every Smash game he makes.
I think Smash Ultimate was supposed to be his final Smash game.
(...Pun unintended, lol.)
Every Smash game was supposed to be his last game.
The first one was supposed to be a one-off
Melee was the "okay I did a sequel but don't intend to do another one" thing
Then Nintendo kinda bullied him into doing Brawl
Yeah, I just double-checked. Brawl was announced before Sakurai was even approached to direct it, so its existence was complete news to him.
After Nintendo announced Brawl they met with him and basically told him to direct it. Didn't really ask.
The condition being that if he didn't accept then Melee would just get ported instead.
ngl im still somewhat annoyed theyre no longer doing dlc fighters for ultimate
so much missed potential with game characters lol
They went... so much farther with the characters in ultimate than they needed to.
It makes sense that Sakurai was hospitalized for being overworked.
If he does another Smash game there's just no way they'll have the same roster.
no master chief
no jonesy
no doom slayer
etc
"Jonsey"?
yes
Who's that?
Woody from Toy Story, Evil Madeline from Celeste, Chucky from Child's Play and former president JFK duke it out in the new smash bros
Well the amount of work involved in adding a new character into smassh is ridiculous
Oh, Fortnite trailer guy
yeah like the main character
Glad they didn't put him in
would have at least been better than steve
Jonesy the cat from Alien?
Yeah, Minecraft guy being in the game is very much a ????????? thing
Just what the fuck
similar mechanic but would have played way differently than steve
It annoys me that they took in non-Nintendo characters in the first place
its ironic too
theyre fine with letting other console's characters onto their game, but refuse to let other companies use their characters, unless its locked to only the switch
like if they were less stubborn it'd be way better
There's a good amount of history about that, actually
Remember when Nintendo nearly lost the trademark to their own name because the term "Nintendo" was in danger of becoming a generic term which meant "video game" and not a specific video game platform or company? (This was the 90s)
I loved how hard Nintendo railed on it
They did an ad campaign and everything
Yeah, because they were TOLD TO
still super dumb overall
like just let me run around with a gun on xbox/playstation/etc as link, mario, and samus dammit lol
The US legal system literally told them "either defend your property harder or you'll lose it"
So they did
For the rest of time
This is why Nintendo is so DMCA happy
And this is why they're so defensive about their IP and why their IP will never apear on other consoles.
Because our copyright system told them that if they don't do that then they'll lose the rights to their own IP. It was a bad ruling and it's a bad overcorrection and nothing will ever change it.
There's also a lot of bitter business history with Sony that guarantees that Nintendo will never collaborate with them ever again, at least not like that.
That's not fully the reason why, it didn't just happen out of a single case, they've always been like that
And Microsoft is a western company and nobody cares about Xbox in Japan
It's not the whole story, no, but it gets the point across.
There's a lot of history which led to Nintendo's behavior
that would have nothing to do with them collaborating with sony/microsoft
that would be a thing with epic lol
It's not just that it's not the whole story it's that they didn't become the way they are because of this one incident, they've always been that way and it's specifically true for any Japanese company really
Because fair use practically is non existant in Japan
Correct
AFAIK the entire concept of "fair use" was always a US-specific legal thing
also, I don't really play Smash and never have, but I'm still disappointed in the way they decided to finally add Dante through a Mii instead of an actual character like they did with Bayo
though I understand the complexity of including Dante in a game like that
probably would've preferred no attempt at all personally
It definitely comes up more often in any platforms based on the US or when people in the US get in trouble with this specific type of thing
The most recent case I can remember that Joey/The Anime Man reported on a couple years ago now was the case of this movie reviewer that used still frames from movies in his videos and got arrested for it
no I don't mean the US likes it the most, I mean it specifically originates in and is based on United States law, and bringing it up outside the US is a basic category error like a Canadian saying they'll "plead the fifth"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
was enshrined in statutory law when the U.S. Congress passed the Copyright Act of 1976. The U.S. Supreme Court has issued several major decisions clarifying and reaffirming the fair use doctrine since the 1980s, the most recent being in the 2021 decision Google LLC v. Oracle America, Inc.
ok there's also some fuzzy "common law" stuff that'd apply to UK and maybe a few other places, but mostly US
I don't want to say it doesn't exist anywhere else other than the US because I really have no clue about law like that to say but yes the concept that is talked about the most when ''fair use'' enters a conversation I think is mostly a US thing
yeah, certainly the concept of "fair use" as an affirmative defense of copyright infringment "for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching [..], scholarship, or research" is a US law
I'm sure some other jurisdictions have an analogue somewhere but with a different list of criteria or not in affirmative defense form or whatever
It really should be updated
I believe 2024 their suppose to take submissions for stuff to be added or updated
Japanese Fair Use laws have resulted in 3 Japanese students getting arrested for making movie reviews on YouTube. Let's talk about it.

unfortunately I know nothing about Japanese law
My knowledge of it comes from limited understanding of how hololive does things
But this is why I say that even though it's not incorrect to mention that specific case that Nintendo got tied up with, it's not the entire reason for Nintendo being the way they are, the reality is that that's just how Japan works and Nintendo, probably realizing the value of their IPs even back in the 90s, just became extremely over protective
really companies like Sega being so open and embracing fan created content even endorsing it is an extremely rare outlier for Japan
Basically they have to get permission to play things from companies and they cant really bad mouth the game
Its Part of the reason you so rarely see nintendo stuff being done by hololive vtubers
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_dealing oh so this is how the UK does it
Well Nintendo has had a history of going against let's players and streamers and striking down or deleting streams and videos really to their hearts desire, so they have the right to do that if they want to and I want to say maybe every other Japanese company could if they wanted to
I still remember when Age of Calamity released and people streamed it day one and Nintendo was striking down every single one because it had released earlier on some regions or something
But yes that's why for example Hololive streamers pretty much require direct permission to stream a game and can't just do what they want especially if it's a Japanese game
The UK was the only Member State of the European Union that did not have a private copy exception [...] Consequently, now commonplace activities such as format shifting (saving one's music contained in their CDs on their MP3 players or on their smartphones) are illegal, but in practice the Government does not enforce this.
lol, lmao even
Because, technically, it's copyright infringement
CDs? MP3 players? What is this, the stone age?
nah, Dr Stone had to settle for a record player

I don't know if this is one of those smaller articles on Wikipedia where there's not the whole full information or if the lack of other countries in that list means they have no direct equivalent to this fair dealing law
it's probably focused on that specific term
very few of these terms are universal after all, and a worldwide list of comparisons would quickly become its own tree of articles
The only Robin Hood game I played was Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown
It was mediocre but very creative
I found some stuff about it on my country but I'm too lazy to skim through these to find out how it works here
oh nice, I found a formal comparisons of worldwide copyright systems that has an extremely direct and satisfying answer to this question
Do the doctrines of ‘fair use’ or ‘fair dealing’ exist?
While there is no general doctrine of ‘fair use’ in Japan, there are some equivalent exemptions provided by the Copyright Act, such as:
• quoting from and exploiting a work already made public fairly
and to the extent justified by the purpose of the quotations;
• private use, to a limited extent;
• reproduction in libraries;
• reproduction in school textbooks, schools and other educational
institutions;
• use for those with disabilities; and
• reproduction for judicial proceedings.
I'm surprised how they manage to have a roster this large and not have balance be completely broken
I'd highlight the lack of "criticism, comment, news reporting" equivalents from the US fair use list
presumably that bit about "quotations" helps with those purposes, but likely not to the extent of a video review, much less a let's play
France doesn't have fair use, but it has "droit de citation" ("citing rights") that applies specifically to press
sadly this report does not include Uruguay
Yeah, it’s genuinely insane.
That’s a hellish nightmare
I don’t know how they did it
Copyright protection is not uniform worldwide; there are two major protection systems with different perspectives and operations.
On the one hand, the United States, England and the Common Law countries follow the Copyright system, originally protecting the right of reproduction or copy, in order to stimulate the production of new works for the benefit of the general interest of society.
On the other hand, the countries belonging to continental Europe and Latin America have adopted the Author's Rights or Authoralist system, whose origin was the recognition of the right based on the personality of the author, which seeks to benefit the creator's efforts.
It uses a closed system, the only exceptions and limitations allowed will be those expressly listed in the law. These are of restrictive interpretation (new exceptions and limitations cannot be interpreted by analogy).
So in simple terms no fair use, no
https://www.impo.com.uy/derechodeautor/
this site has more info but the sections describing what is allowed and not seen as ''illicit reproduction'' and what is illegal are too long to paste here
Victor Hugo was a mistake
(He played a massive role in spreading the droit d'author concept internationally with the Berne Convention)
there have been third party characters since 2008
Ngl. It would have been kinda cool to be able to play as lamar. ( he was originally supposed to be the 4th playable character in single player before being scrapped)
is that why there's a 4th greyed out slice of pizza on the character select wheel
They eventually used that as the gta online spot but probably yes
these are called pie/radial menus, not pizza menus
Pizza is tastier
thank you TF2
Ye
is that due to too many mods or something?
that'd be my guess, I've had L4D2 crash due to having too many mods a lot
Gross revenue? Gross
Love how blops 3 is still in bronze despite its age
Shows how much people love the zombies mode for it
I'm using ColorHUD but I don't recall seeing this before
weird
I wonder which hud I have installed, I haven't opened up TF2 in a hot minute
I might check it out later
I know I have a custom hud installed but there's hundreds of different ones for tf2
(fire emblem three houses, spoilered for whenever ixrec gets to it)

I see there was a fun conversation like 4 houra ago
I still have two of the Thief games on my "I bought this but haven't felt like playing it yet" list
assuming I will play them, should I avoid watching this?
Hilarious how Nintendo released Zelda, Pikmin and Mario
Yet they had to admit the most downloaded game of this year on Switch was none other than Suika game
Maybe?
The way I think about it is if I'm not going to immediately start playing a game this week and I'm planning to play it later down the line or something, I might as well just watch a video about it if I'm interested in it because otherwise I'm probably never going to do either
sure, though I usually get around to these things eventually
"Theif but you don't steal" would be a funny but terrible game
Its a bit short... but MAN i read up on the objs and the prepwork needed to get the industry running inorder to continue the quest is ALOT
Well after seeing it I can confidently say, no you don't need to wait unless you're planning to play the reboot specifically
and even then the video is mostly just the development history and not really going in depth analyzing the game itself
ye sure
You just look at the PS Plus games for next month, and it's just like
What game is it?
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Evil West
Nobody Saves The World
I hear A Plague Tale is very good, actually
Evil west seems like a ton of fun as well

I've heard a bunch about Thief 2014, it's not a bad game technically but was stripped from most of its depth... which only really makes it interesting for casual players
it also suffered the comparison with Dishonored
Dishonored is sick
I like Dishonored 2.
I just wish it had dark/light enemy visibility like thief 2 does, but it makes up for it by having a bunch of other mechanics

Very good game 🐈🐈
I love this game!!! 🌟🌟🌟
man Testament's gameplay clicked with me so quickly I'm surprised how good this character feels
I quickly realized my favourite thing is when I get a knockdown or during neutral I think ''this mf is going to jump'' and charging up a grave reaper and being right every time
that does look satisfying Nire hahah
Is this Guilty Gear Strive??
gonna try out Dark Souls again, any tips or anything i should know
Don't die
time for battle of eagle and lion in this fe3h playthrough
i love this moment in game its so good. so so good. the thematic resonance. the foreshadowing. the way march music in cutscene perfectly flows into top 3 kickass themes of the entire game. crops watered day brightened mental capacity restored
Do you mind slight mechanical spoilers?
no go ahead :)
okay! 1. Depending on how much you've used up your Equip Load, your ability to roll is affected. I forget the exact numbers but it is very noticable the difference between fast roll ( low equip load) medium roll and slow roll ( when you use up most of your equip load)
- Some stats don't do as much for your character as others do, but you can view what the stat effects in the menu when you upgrade them with souls. Health, Stamina and either STR/DEX depending on what weapons you use are typical safe bets, but there are other combinations for other weapon/play styles.
3.Death is just the end of a learning experience, feel free to die lots to learn boss patterns, enemy patterns, etc.
Depends on which one
the first one
ah, with the fast roll vs slow roll, you get more invicibility frames with better rolls, but can probably take less hits as you have less armour on
There's a lot to explain about the first one
Every situation has a solution that makes it a lot easier. When you get frustrated, do something else
Biggest recommendation I can probably give is to have a clear idea of what type of character you want to go for so you don't waste precious cash on useless stats or weapons/armor
ok cool
If you ever feel stuck you can ask me for advice
I'm also going to recommend getting comfortable dodging more than blocking, blocking isn't useless, but dodging and having mobility is far more recommended so it's worth getting used to that

Armor is usually not that useful as well because of that same reason but that depends on the type of character you want to go for, again it's good to have an idea of whether you want to be big strong man agile man glass cannon etc
So I'd mostly recommend having a good idea of which stats are the most important for the type of character you want and getting comfortable with a weapon that aligns with that character type and upgrading that instead of wasting time on armors and shields, but if you want you can go for armors and shields it's just that dodging is worth getting used to
dodging is meta in Dark Souls, and pretty much any soulslike
If you can't getting the timing right, doing a mix or both is very viable keep in mind
I largely associate the genre with "attack once, roll once to the side, rinse and repeat"
Never level up Resistance and don't go into the graveyard
Blocking for new players isn't bad, it takes away the pressure of having to time things right in the heat of the moment
I usually do sword and board. It's fun
Dodging becomes a lot better only in NG+ and later IMO
what's in the graveyard
Bad times
You'll notice, don't worry, I mean you can go there at worse you die, just know there are other directions to go
Extremely common late game place that new players go into to die
is Dark Souls open linear or a mix
It's relatively open but it becomes more linear late game
It's pretty open in the sense that there's all these different areas and things to do but you can do them in any order you want
i see
Another good tip is to find a weapon you feel comfortable with and stick with it...some are harder than others to use, but especially anything that isn't a dagger that you feel very comfortable with using is going to serve you well for a large chunk of the game assuming you keep upgrading.
does Dark Souls 1 have the funny dog
noted
There is a funny onion guy in every Dark Souls
Kinda
Wait there isn't one in 2, I'm wrong
I like when he survives
does everyone love the onion guy
He's okay
He's a good dude
There's more than one onion person in this game, I'll leave it at that
Because ogres are like onions
if you plan to use armor, I personally always went with extremely light gear or naked during my playthroughs, the catarina set is gonna be worth getting once you're able to get it
My first playthrough I was going medium weight sword and board style, and it's what I tend to do in most souls games nowdays the first time around, except in DS3 in which I went with a int dex built on launch and it was hell.
which game has the Praise the sun!! guy?
Dark Souls 1
last ds1 playthrough I did was a full on dex character because I had never done that before, other than that, I always mostly went with some form of light gear combination and the Claymore which is the best weapon in all of the games and the grass crest shield which there's literally no reason not to at least carry around
of course acrually it's because it's the only one on Switch
do you have to kill him to get the armour
Unless I'm misremembering, that's not a shrine to him it's a shrine to the covenant itself
There's one of those shrines/statues in DS1 too
No, you can purchase it

Big claymore fan as well, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone with DS3 tho
I learned the error of my ways and went back to that in ER
I still haven't played ER
You should avoid going to the ER because of dark souls
I watched Jerma play it and I said ''good enough for me''
Elden ring is good if you like the genre
It's so goddamn good
Definitely requires multiple runs to do everything
I just haven't gotten around to/felt like I wanted to play it, since I've seen a lot about it and finished it by watching someone else play it
Been playing other stuff and haven't felt in the Souls mood
Speaking of. I should probably start kingdom hearts 1
I feel like ER was the game that actually got people that usually don't like souls, to like it.
Yeah its a lot more forgiving than normal souls games
may be rookie numbers for hardcore souls players but I'm sort of in the middle of a sweaty hardcore souls guy and a casual player so this is good enough for me
The harder stuff is harder but the start is a lot more gentle
I meed to play the remastered version of 1
There was a big mod for 3 that was teased a while ago, I'm probably waiting for that one
I also never felt super interested or compelled in DS3 so I never played that one so I'd always just kinda replay DS1 over and over again, I feel like with Elden Ring I'd probably get the same feeling I did with BOTW/TOTK where there's just too much content that it'd cause me to not want to play
I feel like I'm probably good on that type of game for now, I still have yet to finish Cyberpunk (hell, technically I've yet to start Cyberpunk, 30+ hours and barely touched the main story)
I find 100+ hours in any game to be a lot by my standards
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj1wZE-i6GQ
My guess is that it'll still take at least a year before this is in a place in which I want to play this, but it looks so good

Pla...
it's almost 3 weeks of full-time work after all…
Oh really
To be fair that's the culmination of multiple playthroughs throughout years and I was in school at the time so loads of free time
the most outrageous hours I've put into a game is TF2 over so many years
and still didn't get to 1k
Gonna need to pump those numbers up on SF6 and GGST they're still at 90 hours
There's been a bunch of those
DS3 Cinders and Convergence are other similar mods
and there's currently a big mod for DS2 that seeks out to fix a lot of the extreme downgrade that game suffered, still won't fix the awful game design that game has (in my opinion) but at least it's going to make it look pretty and it's a pretty high effort endeavor
admire this empty health bar…
this happened like 3 times in a row but I finally got it after that
(also, I didn't know Zipp's wings are a boss)
ah man im so bad at making names
https://vxtwitter.com/Stayd3D/status/1693390396574101783
this is the twitter of the guy, Flames of Old is what the mod is called I think
Dark Souls II is pretty contentious isn't it
I think it's a really bad game so do many people but also a lot of other people swear by it being incredible and even the best souls so it's a ''play it yourself and find out yourself if you want to'' type of thing
isn't it the best rated one overall?
I have no idea I don't look at game ratings
wow this opening cutscene is cool
lots of witches and dragons and shit
i gleaned nothing from that
I started with ds2 so i never understood the hate
Its one of those. You have to discover the lore things
But there was a war on dragons at one point and the dragon’s lost is probably the biggest one
rip dragons
pretty cool they let me keep my armour in prison
AH WHY AM I UGLY
i designed a really nice looking person why do i look like that
Can't be worse than elden ring handsome squidward
the name of the place you're in should give a clue
oh ok
Also, as another general tip, if you ever get stuck on something, don't know how something works, etc, I'd fully recommend just looking it up online if you ever don't wanna go through the trouble of figuring it out if it's something you get stumped on for a while
Interacting and posting a lot about these games on forums is not only extremely common in the Fromsoft community but also a core part of the experience of these games, the whole message system is kind of a mini version of an online forum and a lot of times some messages can have some pretty useful tips, of course there's also the ''treasure ahead'' message right in front of a cliff too
and the most important tip: have fun
I'd show my DS characters but I'd have to redownload the games
That sounds about right
I have 1009 hours in Splatoon 3
When you can play portably, you get more inclinded to play it more I guess
Bummer, cause that's most of the story you're gonna get!
No
does Dark Souls have a codex like the greatest game ever made Doom Eternal does
I wish, not even Elden Ring has one
The codex is gonna be every single item you pick up
All of the items will give you little pieces of information about the world
Also just like, using your eyeballs to look at stuff
This game will demand your full attention if you want to piece together any semblance of story so you're gonna have to kind of glean any sort of worldbuilding and context from the areas you visit and the things in those areas, for better and for worse

''What the fuck is this place? Where am I? Why am I here?
Oh, this place is called Undead Asylum, I look like beef jerky so I think I'm an undead?
and it looks like this place is inhabited by other undeads too, this random guy told me about this undead prophecy passed down through generations too, hmmmm''
I personally largely ignore codexes, they feel like filler most of the time
I just can't be bothered most of the time, I guess Souls games all technically have codexes in the form of the item descriptions for better and worse
The only codexes I've read are DMC's ones because they're mostly entries on enemies and usually they tell you useful tips on what to do to face them and in DMC5 they're all written by Nico so you get some fun entries in there
The one thing I wish Dark Souls had is some type of journal mostly, I'd love to vaguely keep track of quests, characters I've met, dialogues, etc
But not only do I feel like Fromsoft would never do that, I also think if they did then Souls players would all collectively have an aneurysm
I want to say it's becoming a common thing now but when I started TOTK and I noticed it allowed me to read the full conversation whenever you're talking to someone I could only blurt out ''yes, thank you''
Confirmed best game, can pet and smooch sheep
Deus Ex has conversation logs accessible at any time, I wish more games had that
this was in 2000 so it's not a technical limitation 👀
Yeah but that's unfair because Deus Ex is one of the best games of all time /s
what about the 3DO?
Omg 3DO
same, since i have a new 3ds xl now im trying out lots of new games since i can hgave an actual good experience which wasnt anywhere near as good on the old 3ds model
monster hunter is one of the first gfames i wanted to do cuz i love mh and now i have a 2nd stick to adjust camera finalyl
Do we have a soulslike channel?
I have yet to play a 3DO game, there are a handful worth checking out nowadays
There's an elden ring channel
