hahahaha so my wife is playing through Dark Souls, having finally beaten it recently and now trying a different character. So she's got this ridiculous sorcerer that she's frozen at level 65 and beaten Manus and a couple other bosses, so she's in some ways way overpowered for her level (top-tier equipment, top sorcery spells, etc)

so some guy just tried to invade her in the 5-giant-skeleton room in tomb of the giants, and she cast Crystal Homing Soulmass using the manus catalyst (2x damage) and the invader climbed up the ladder toward her and it just one-shotted him. It was beautiful.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a different example. They were incredibly, possibly excessively ambitious. What they ultimately delivered after bug fixes is still a very ambitious game, but it is still missing key features. CDPR seems to have learned the hard way. It’ll be interesting to see if they deliver on the Phantom Liberty expansion. It looks like the expansion is meant to include underlying improvements to the game, but we’ll see.

CDPR did eventually fix the Cyberpunk 2077’s base game, but didn’t do anything more than bug fixes as far as I’m aware.

I remember when the game Sin had a pretty big patch and it was a scandal because of modem users having very slow connections

I think it was 150 MB or 500 MB, something like that. By 1998 standards, that's thicc for a patch

patches were usually 1 to 10 MB back then
