I suppose that's why I overall prefer Doom 4 to Eternal, it's much slower and there's less focus on constant overwhelming action and switching to specific weapons at least that I noticed

I think I've said this before but both games feel like soft reboots of the first and second game, what with the first game being on Mars and you end killing the spider thingy and teleporting back to Earth and the second game taking place entirely on earth and killing the icon of sin

As more time goes on I've started to weirdly enjoy Doom 3's direction what with it being the black sheep of the franchise
It's also one of the Doom games i played as a kid asides from Doom 2 on my school computer
We'd get school computers called XO/Ceibal and they'd always include Doom for some weird reason

There's really no need for diversity amongst fodder demons they're just annoying versions of already existing demons and there's no use for them, even the Carcass at least has a unique function in that it's only function is to actively hinder and piss you the fuck off

Even the Whiplash at least has a unique way of fighting but the others are just annoying and unnecessary
The Barons and Hellknights are nearly the same enemy type too and they even look similar which is a shame, I don't like the Barons from Eternal I like the original ones a lot more, at least they look unique

I think it's definitely a bullshit enemy type because it punishes you no matter what you do in a game where you really don't have time to sit around and wait for the enemy to do something but if it was limited to 2-3 encounters throughout the game, especially encounters that actually had meaning like maybe this was some guy that knew the slayer or something that would've been neat

the doom hunter is one of the many mass produced demons the marauder feels like it should've been special
like this one entity hell bent on chasing down and slaying the slayer, someone with a personal connection or vendetta

Marauder encounters should have been more special, maybe someone Doomguy knew while he was with the Night Sentinels who was corrupted by the demons and Hell a long while ago, maybe it's just a single Marauder and he always escapes through a portal before Doomguy can kill him and he becomes a recurring boss like you said until you finally kill him in one of the Nekravol levels, maybe Part 1 at the end with the Olivia statue? and he has new weapons and stuff and different moves each encounter to keep it fresh

i actually have a somewhat similar complaint about Davoth's boss fight. for all intents and purposes he's just a beefed up Marauder. originally he was supposed to turn into a big badass dragon (similar to the dragon from Revelation in the Bible is what i always thought) for his final phase and Doomguy would have had to kill him like that but because of time constraints they had to scrap that
there's a lot of interesting cut stuff
in the art book there's a concept for a Maykr enemy type who looks similar to Seraphim angels from the bible with a ton of wings and eyes and such
i would like to see some of that make an appearance in a sequel, but i think Doomguy's crusade against Hell is over for now. Hugo Martin has hinted at larger threats that could come like who created Davoth and who are the Ancient Gods that appear at the end of TAG 2
