I love how in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the game takes a more active stance on giving your companions more to do and say. At several moments you can ask all your companions what they think about the situation and what they think you should do, and sometimes they argue or discuss things amongst themselves even while you're talking to other people. (Most of them are deadpan snarkers too, it's great.)
Kingmaker did this too to an extent, but not nearly as much, and the inter-group discussions were usually saved for resting. It's a nice change, I feel.
And the companions themselves are also wildly more varied than Kingmaker's. In Kingmaker we have:
- A gnome alchemist, a halfling bard, a half-orc magus, a half-elf wizard/rogue, an undead elf inquisitor, a dwarf cleric, four humans (ranger, cleric, barbarian, and fighter), a tiefling kineticist, and a goblin rogue. Not really much variety, but it gets the job done.
But in Wrath of the Righteous, we have:
- A dwarf slayer, two humans (cleric and paladin), a half-elf spirit-hunter, a kitsune scroll savant, two mongrels (fighter and zen archer), an aasimar oracle, a gnome hellknight, a succubus espionage expert, a tiefling eldritch scoundrel, an elf witch, a griffonheart shifter (who for some reason sounds exactly like Eggman), and a talking weapon (yes, he's a companion).
And that's not even counting all the undead companions if you go a certain mythic route, or even the secret companions that you can miss, or the DLC OR the havoc dragon that can also join you if you decide to be chaotic enough.

I'm also liking the crusade/army mechanic MUCH more than the kingdom mechanic. It's still a bit wonky, but I think that's more because I'm still getting used to it rather than it being the game's fault. It plays fine, the management system is far less intensive or punishing, and it's pretty streamlined. Just buy some troops, send them off to the front to reinforce the main armies, and bam, just keep attacking enemy armies and strongholds until you gain ground.
I'm sure it'll get far more complicated as the game progresses, but so far I'm having a lot of fun with the crusade battles.

I actually started using Pro hud and it's nice but I do sometimes miss being able to tell the weather, temperature or hour of the day by just looking at the down right, most of the elements in the UI of BOTW aren't unnecessarily clutter thankfully so turning it back on wouldn't kill my enjoyment, but for a game of this nature it's definitely nice to have as least amount of stuff on the screen as possible

...So, one of my companions in Wrath of the Righteous is a scientist, and she has the unique ability to "forget" any information her brain deems irrelevant to her scientific endeavors (she actually used this ability to completely forget that she was part of the kitsune race).
One of her experiments involves getting drunk to see how it affects the way she thinks and feels about science. After getting drunk, she promptly shuts down for a few minutes, and then becomes stone-cold sober by simply forgetting that she is drunk. Hell, she even forget she drank in the first place, since she had already completed the experiment and thus "being drunk was irrelevant".
I can't even with this girl, or this game. Every single companion in this game is either insane, hilarious, or both.

I will say part of why Zestria rates so low for me is that most Tales games are very group based

Honestly I came close to that very early in p4 golden, which is what I'm playing now. The first 'big' boss (there's two others but they were piss easy) is unbelievably fucking brutal (common complaint online) and you kinda need to grind levels to like 15+ in order to more reliably beat it

Some of the main "story" dungeons have you do them, but they're with 3 others and usually last 15 minutes? But yeah, what Sombra said. Me, playing persona 4: Grinding the steamy bathhouse ( ) dungeon to get levels. About on floor 6, two guys running out of mana. Yukiko's castle had about 7 floors, so I figure I was near the end of it

A PS Vita is a great emulation pocket computer
The good thing about Emulation is that the hardware requirements do not have to constantly go up, and the existing library is quite expansive

just finished resi evil 4 remake
its interesting
the changes to the original did arguably make the game a better experience to play but it also cut out a lot of the charm in the original
in some ways the game feels... more generic? im not sure if that the right word
thats not to say the game isnt good, its fantastic, and im glad people are getting to enjoy my fave resident evil game
i dunno, im glad it exists and its a great experience, but it feels a bit lacking in some areas

I think that's mostly because RE4 itself is a classic example of "Seinfeld is Unfunny"; its innovations were a big deal when it first came out but have been endlessly imitated and borrowed from since then (heck, back then it was my first experience with over-the-shoulder cameras and quick time events)

yeah, fortunately it's a case where the trope doesn't do much harm because it's still an excellent implementation of all those mechanics

just to re-state this point, its very good and a thoroughly enjoyable experience still and well worth the money

I think all the remakes have felt a little darker than the originals, but especially after I played RE2 + RE2R back to back, I'm convinced the content was always about the same balance of dark stuff and comic relief, and the remake feeling is mostly because writing quality and production values going up makes it much easier to take serious moments seriously than before

in this, it was just kinda... there, could have been replaced by anything and had the same impact other than "oh thats neat"

My brother introduced me to Resi by basically hand holding me through all of REmake Jill (still haven’t played Chris) but I’d say classic RE2 is where I became a fan of the series completely by myself
It’s one of his favorite series just in general and there will never come a time where I think of Resi and do not think of my brother alongside
