#Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul

I have lots of conflicting feelings about Chuck
Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul
On the one hand, what he did to Jimmy by blocking his entry into HHM was pretty damn awful, but on the other, he clearly had lots of mental issues and that makes me sad
Very pleasant surprise seeing Gail
what episode/season are you in now?
S4E6
This montage with the line between Jimmy and Kim is making me real sad
I already like this Lalo fellow
Spoiler: || Saul Goodman appears in Breaking Bad ||
Ixrec what is this reaction
“Jesse we need to learn the power of friendship”
Mike is such a good grandpa omgggg
Idk walt you've been acting sus lately
Mike is a really cool character || its a shame he just gets killed by walt ||
Mike's my favorite character from either show.
This is pretty cool

yes i heard it actually works
also, when they filmed that scene they actually killed all the actors including Bryan Cranston for realism, Bravo Vince!
I suspect people here might find it amusing to learn that one of the state house candidates in Albuquerque is using BCS-themed language in her election campaign.
Instead of “Better Call Saul” it’s “Better Vote Kathleen”
thats kinda cringe
I didn’t say it wasn’t…
Holy shit I just put it together that Nacho's actor also plays Vaas in Far Cry 3
wait till you find out Gus is in Far Cry 6
Nacho attempts what he's practicing for weeks, to switch Don Hector's pills and hope that it kills him.

Talk about tense
💦
whew
my man wasn't sweating bullets dude was sweating rockets
also we have the same name
R u finally watching Better Call Saul
No I just watched clips of it
I actually love how over the course of the series Jesse 'outgrew' his junkie hip-hop persona into a more ''normal'' one
by the end dude looks like this
fucking badass
Cant spell better call saul without better
Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul made me want to apply to a university in New Mexico
Mr. White can make Blue, can you?
S5E8 holy shit I've never been more happy to see Mike in my life
Just finished watching breaking bad, enjoyed the show despite knowing a few spoilers prior
Just now remembered what an idiot Ted was
how so
Well
I'm just thinking of that part when he tries to escape his house and trips on his carpet
oh yea lol
He's like
The complete opposite of Walter in that he does terribly under pressure lmao
and he's the guy skyler slept with smh
Yea
I am on Season 2 at Episode 4 now in Better Call Saul

Listen I would watch it legally if AMC bothered to put it on Netflix
It's not even available on AMC+ anymore lmao
As a prediction
||I really don't think Nacho is gonna live tbh||
it's available on Netflix in some EMEA countries
alright so one of my friends shared a BB/BCS post and I don't know if I shared this opinion about Walter before
But I always found it extremely weird how people praise Walter for being such a smart guy and such an evil genius
Having not seen BCS, even in just BB, Jesse and Saul were infinitely more compelling and charming than Walter
I always found Walter to be a frustrated, pathetic manchild with a short fuse and a huge ego, he's smart, but that intelligence means nothing if he doesn't have what it takes to put his ego aside
The dude survived off of pure luck and I'm extremely surprised there's people who not only sympathize with him but DEFEND Walter
I had nothing but contempt for Walt the entire show
I have a love hate relationship with Walter
Like on one hand I wanna root for him he's the main character and it's fun to see him succeed, but at the same time he kinda really actually sucks
He's literally just a sociopath with repressed frustrations about living a normal life and never getting to be the huge chemist he always wanted to be
''But he did it for his fambly!!!!111''
He literally admits himself he DIDN'T do it for his family, maybe at first, but once he got a taste of that drug kingpin life he never looked back, he loved it
He loved being feared, being respected, he loved it so much he couldn't HANDLE being the one who obeys someone else's orders
Yeah lol
He had no issues with manipulating, gaslighting and even coercing others and even his own family
The sparks of intelligence and confidence that Walter shows are ALWAYS preceded and followed by him fucking up or losing his cool
Heisenberg is such a facade it's wonders how people respect and fear Walter's character
Gus didn't have a facade, Gus was humane but even at his normal he was ruthless and cold, the Salamanca didn't have a facade, they were who they were
Walter wanted all the pros of being a drug kingpin without any of the drawbacks, and the worst part is that he ended up being internationally recognized so the bastard got what he wanted
For the rest of time Walter would be known as the biggest drug lord in all of American soil and in my opinion he deserved to be forgotten to time and shunned by his own family who he had no problems with manipulating
If you couldn't tell, I really don't like Walter
and I think the entire show is about you NOT liking Walter, but a lot of people fall into the trap of ''he's the protagonist, so he MUST succeed!''
that's why so many people absolutely seem to despise Skyler
it is absolutely about you not liking Walter
Breaking Bad is one of the few totally legit cases of Villain Protagonist
''she's such a bitch! why can't she just shut up???''
Yes, the woman who has a newborn child and a disabled son trying to maintain a family now has a husband who has admitted to being into and manufacturing drugs, has lied and manipulated her before, but she gets mad once and now she's the evil one
even Better Call Saul's arguable
Anyways BCS is better because the protagonist is actually likeable
the only reason why people dislike Skyler is because she actively gets in the way of Walters' success
I think some people get sucked into the protagonist so thoroughly they fail to consider that the protagonist might not be the best guy in the story
I liked Skylar because she reacted how any sane person would to her husband secretly being a drug lord
It's a very fascinating look into how you can easily deceive and manipulate people by simply switching perspectives, if the show was from the perspective of Skylar, Walter would be seen universally as a monster
I will admit that some of the parts where Skyler is telling him off or otherwise making her displeasure known are hard to watch... but that's not because she's wrong, it's because she's right and Walter doesn't seem to care
But at the same time, while being fascinating, it's infuriating, because HOW can people ever make excuses and justify Walters' actions?
Walter absolutely doesn't care, and that's the worst part, people actively use the argument of ''He's doing it for you and your family! She's such an ungrateful bitch!''
suuubteeext
Lol
which admittedly becomes explicit text eventually, even Walter can't deny it forever
I did it for me
It's absolutely Walter lying to himself the entire time, maybe at the beginning he truly meant what he said and what he did
He did stop, and he intended to stop for good once he made all that money
but once he started he couldn't get off that train
how could you? after living such a boring life, after being such a pushover and dreaming of being something more, how could you ever give up that life?
my read is that he believed his own words at the start, but even then they were never really true, he was deceiving himself right out the gate
I believe he was honest at first, that he really was doing it for his family especially after the cancer diagnosis, but it only lasted for a short time, once he started to climb up that ladder, meeting Gus, getting involved in higher stakes situations, being offered a ''full time'' job as a manufacturer... yeah, he couldn't stop
He COULD, mind you, he COULD have, but he didn't want to
yep, the psychological can, not the physical can
In any case, I just really don't like or respect Walter at all, I feel like he's easily the worst character in the entire show, not worst written, just the worst person in the show, and I have no respect for him because even his greatest feats come across as dumb luck and false bravado to me rather than cold calculated planning and execution
Jesse and Saul >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Walter
Jesse is easily my favourite and the best in the whole show
dude gets handed the worst cards in existence and he still endures all of it and achieves some sort of a happy ending, even if everything in his life went absolutely wrong and he had to abandon his family
I like how my only follow-up to this is arguing that he's even worse than you're saying, because I believe the meth cooking was an ego trip right from the start
Jesse's final scene in El Camino is easily one of the moments that tug on your heartstrings the most, the movie opens up and ends with Jesse driving but the circumstances couldn't be more different, the euphoria and pure madness and happiness and sadness of finally being free from that god awful torment and torture, against the calmness and acceptance of a new life and a new beginning, the worst is over, everything is going to be okay now and you can rest
The happiest ending is still a sad one, he still had to leave everything behind and start anew far far away (which is another nice contrast, the dryness and heat of Texas vs the coldness of Alaska)

it'll certainly be a normal one
Jesse starts a new life up in the Alaskan woods, grows a beard, cuts down some trees and has a new son... he calls him boy
Hmmmm
After being the literal actual slave of nazis for years, I think Jesse will greatly appreciate and value a regular, ordinary life
God, Todd was such a piece of fucking garbage
What a fascinating character, I don't think I've ever hated a characters' guts so much before
Todd is a legit psychopath. Completely unfeeling
Even the worst of villains in fiction at least have charm, they revel in the fact that they are doing something evil, they love it, they absolutely love watching people suffer and squirm, Todd? He's empty inside
Todd is a pure robot with absolutely no feelings
I like how his name is just Todd though
it's like when the Cabin in the Woods monster board has this random "Kevin" on it with no explanation
fucking Todd
Lol
The final boss in the game shows up, it's this towering gigantic disgusting creature that has done unspeakable things to everything it came across
it's called Bob
Yeah
''oh that's Bob''
one thing i did hate about walt was his ego and unwillingness to swallow his pride
like when hank was talking about walts assistant being heisenberg and how brilliant he was and walt couldnt keep his mouth shut

Product definitely does not contain Methamphetamine.
I'm still not sure why Kim and Jimmy wanna screw Howard over?
Just because?
S6E4 btw
Omg it's Wendy
Oh my god is ||Howard seriously challenging Jimmy to a boxing match||
||There goes Lalo||
Oh man ||it's really nice to see Walt and Jesse again||
||Bryan Cranston really slid back into season2 Walter amazingly||
Lmao ||the RV not starting||
||It's so fucking weird hearing the name Lalo come out of Jesse's mouth||
Good lord Kim's life sucks post Jimmy
Finished
so
Ive let BCS settle in for a bit now
and I think it was really good, idk if it's as good as BB, but it's still amazing
my thoughts don't go any deeper than that
what was ur favorite moment is BCS
hmm
I mean the chicanery moment was obviously amazing
From Better Call Saul 4x10 "Winner"
this moment really got me and showed how far Jimmy was slipping
And I mean
can I say Saul Gone? that's an entire episode and not a moment per say but it's still amazing
personally I think BB and BCS are equally good, but with enough differences it's extremely valid to prefer one or the other
a big one being that in BB the protagonist is undeniably an utterly horrifying dumpster fire of a person, while in BCS he's much more of a mixed bag
yea Jimmy is much more likable than Walter
but ironically, the one who ends up in literal dumpsters
agreed
like yeah prison sucks and he's there for the rest of his life, but he's treated like a king and (probably) will be able to continue seeing Kim
he realized that there was only one thing in life that truly mattered to him, and he sort of got that one thing back at least a little
yee
While Skyler's past catches up with her, Walt covers his tracks. Jesse continues to struggle with his guilt.

Season 5 - Episode 10: "Buried"
#JessePinkman #WalterWhite
you know, when I first saw this scene, it was one of the few scenes where I totally agreed that Schyler was acting super irrational and like a bitch, but reading the comments... it actually makes sense
Kinda, Hank wasn't really super tactful in his approach and that reeeaaally made her feel super uncomfortable and distrustful, I totally understand her reaction now
After, I think
ya I googled it
I really need to rewatch BB now
and then rewatch El Camino
and then maybe rewatch BCS
I've never been a rewatch shows type of person
I don't know why, but I wouldn't feel inclined to rewatch BB or el camino, not because they're bad or anything though
BB is the best show I've ever seen so I kind of want to rewatch it agin just to see if I missed any cool details
there's probably a bunch for sure
what i did when watching BB for the first time was read the wiki entry for the episode i just saw. it helped quite a lot
og there's probably cool trivia and stuff yeah?
yup
I'll have to do that on my rewatch
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a d...
don't know if she really did die at the end but I hope so, I never liked her
I believe it's implied so
I fucking hate Jesse's parents so much
fucking Ted
I hate Ted a lot
thanks for coming to my ted talk
lol
I also hate Ted
man
Combo was really great
its both great and sad to see Saul 🥲
omg it's Discord
which is worse "happy birthday mr president" or Walt's assembly speech vote now on your phones
"stay out of my territory" is just as badass the second time through as the first
aaaand ||Combo's death still hits me hard||
oh shit this is Gus's first episode
omg Breaking Bad is 15 years old today!

Flynn is awful at web design
http://www.savewalterwhite.com/
very subtle Vince
I think the weapons dealer guy from "One Minute" is my favourite side character
he's just so great
ANY HUELL FANS IN THE CHAT
meth
me(th)!!!
lol
Better Fuel Huell
oh this is why I remember hating Ted
I think Crawl Space might be my favourite episode of the series
the zoom out finale still haunts me
its so creepy
ok maybe Dead Freight is my favourite episode
something i noticed is that on my first watchthrough i never stopped rooting for Walt, but on this watch during season 5 ive really started to dislike him and start rooting for Hank and Jesse to get him
never mind
i totally stopped rooting for him during Ozymandias
I forgot how dark this episode was
the scene where Walt kidnaps Holly and Skyler is screaming for him to come back made me actually upset
gonna start describing myself this way
Badger and Skinny Pete are such good friends
Walter deserved to rot in jail but most fans aren't ready for that conversation
true
Good to know this thread works 😄
oooooh I don't know if this is the best decision but others in here can probably chime in better than me since I haven't seen it
BCS probably spoils a lot from BB
BCS is set before and doesn't actually spoils anything, but it references stuff from BB
There isn't an order to watch them as the stories aren't directly linked, but if you know BB, you'll pick up stuff in BCS that you wouldn't pick up otherwise
Doesn't the end spoil a lot if you didn't watch BB beforehand?
Oh fuck, haven't seen the last episode of BCS lmao
And tbh idk, the shows are somewhat linked but they're two different stories
I'll watch the last ep tonight and revise my thought
others in here have probably seen all of BCS so they can speak better than me but I know that BCS does in fact spoil BB
which is kinda why it's generally seen after BB

conveniently, my family accidentally ended up testing this in both directions
the short version is that both shows spoil each other a little, but to a degree that mostly just encourages watching the other show
specifically, my dad and I saw BB when it was new, when BCS came out mom decided to join us in watching that, after which we all wanted to watch or rewatch BB together; some of the big pros we observed/discussed with BCS first are that you don't know ||when/how Gus dies in BB||, and when you get to BB ||Saul mentioning Lalo is way more meaningful||
in particular, she's convinced that was the better direction for her even in retrospect, because BB is darker than BCS and thus was far less appealing to her before BCS got her to care about the cast
so IMO it's entirely a personal choice which show you start with
(just remember to watch El Camino after BB)
Lalo
sorry, there's a "Lazlo" in Planescape
||Saul also mentions Nacho (Ignacio) when Walt and Jesse kidnap him||
For a second there I thought you meant me because that's my name

I tripped for a second there
i have an intense urge to rewatch Breaking Bad
for like
the 3rd time
i finished it literally a week ago why do i want to watch agian

wait is this an ad for this year???
omg it is
awesome
idk thought it was interesting
smh Fly so lowly rated
yeah they reprised their roles just for this ad
I kept getting notifications about it

'''We got six signature flavors, yo''
''SEVEN, YOU MAKE SEVEN!''
''...seven.''
''Seven works.''
super cool they got Raymond Cruz back
Nacho attempts what he's practicing for weeks, to switch Don Hector's pills and hope that it kills him.

I just can't get over about this scene
Happy birthday to the one who knocks. @bryancranston
good art
As I one time asked Google, it wasn't really helpful. So yes, I used ChatGPT asking about that specific thing, because I always wondered why, so yeah that probably makes sense
One time I did used for a show like Breaking Bad.
but is that true?
I mean idk, but as I googled once about it, there wasn't unfortunately really an answer about that but yes in Dead Freight, train horn is heard several times, so maybe there's something connected to it.
isn't that the episode about the literal train?
yes

Damn, AI made this
TRUE
I'm Not the danger Skyler
I'm the danger
gonna rewatch Better Call Saul
I'm starting Breaking Bad again
it's actually crazy that, even before he got into the business, Walt had already killed two dudes
Like, guy just wanted to make money making drugs, but didn't account for the fact that people were gonna threaten him
And when he finally got threatened (literally as soon as he started making meth), he just didn't have any adaptation period and went straight to killing to survive
it's pretty rough
I liked it (Fly) more when rewatching it than I did my first time watching it
BCS s6 spoilers ||Nacho's death still hits me fucking hard||
the happy birthday scene never gets any easier
when did that happen again
