Hi, need a bit of help setting up the external library .
-Running Immich on Umbrel home.
-immich ver3.2.2
-Pictures are locates on an External USB drive. Umbrel directory: /home/umbrel/umbrel/external/UmbrelUSB/Pictures

Where and how to configure /mnt/external-library as an import path for an External Library in Immich ?
Unable to add any external librery folder in Immich administration, New External Library setup.

Thanks and sorry, did tried many times and failed. Appreciate any help

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:

  • Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
  • Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
  • All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
  • Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
  • Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
  • Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h).
  • The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
  • Any other information that you think might be relevant.

Are you trying to add /mnt/external-library in the GUI?

yes. also tried that but does not work.
I also added below to docker.compose.yml file.
volumes:
- ${UPLOAD_LOCATION}:/data
- /umbrel/external/UmbrelUSB/Pictures:/mnt/umbrel/external/UmbrelUSB/Pictures
but doesnt work either.

I just dont know how how to add the directory or where to do it.

I thought it was /External/UmbrelUSB/Pictures ? So that would be:

      - ${UPLOAD_LOCATION}:/data
      - /External/UmbrelUSB/Pictures:/mnt/external-library

your docker containers might not have permission to access it

I already give it access to that directory.
but for some reason - /External/UmbrelUSB/Pictures:/mnt/external-library does not work.

the moment I add it the app stops working

Stops working and "can't add it" are two very different things

Your server might just be overwhelmed by the new assets for instance
