Hey! How does Live Photos identification work in Immich?

Initially I thought it just automatically joined them when an image file had the same filename (except for the extension) as a short video file, since Immich correctly detects iOS Live photos I download from iCloud via icloudpd which follows this pattern (IMG_1234_uuid.HEIC + IMG_1234_uuid.MOV).

However, on Android the Open Camera app follows the same naming criteria for saving Live Photos (IMG_20260811_121631.533.jpg + IMG_20260811_121631.533.mp4) and yet Immich does NOT join them as a Live Photo, it shows all of them as separare photos and videos.

I've added some screenshots showing an iOS correctly detected live photo and an Open Camera live photo shown as two different files, as well as their file paths.

Ope Camera doesn't support .mov, so I can't really try that.

Is Live Photo detection limited to .HEIC and/or .MOV? Is there any way to enable this for .jpg/.png/etc and .mp4 as well?

I'm on Immich 2.7.5 at the moment, as I haven't had time to update yet.

Closest I found in GitHub was this comment in a similar (but different) issue: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/11886#issuecomment-3447889108

While the linked issue itself was fixed, the question in the comment I linked wasn't answered (and my problem is closer to that guy's question than to the original issue, as I'm not using Google's format):

Merging them manually is not really an option due to there being so many (1000s), but is there no way to automatically detect photos and videos with the same file name (but different extension), that also have the exact same datestamp and merge them automatically?
