- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.

Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close command, and re-open it later if needed.
Because when you download the original file it necessarily has all that metadata in it
Can this be added back as a feature request? With "another vendor not to be named", they allow this option.
What does it add over right click>save as on the image?
I just did a download vs right click, save as (as you mentioned), and correct, the right-click option appears to remove the metadata.
That is what I am requesting with these options be mutually exclusive.
Metadata can be shown, but when public user downloads, I would like them only to have what is provided with the right click save option.
Almost like a, "Show Metadata" vs "Share Metadata" option, if that makes sense.
it is not directly native, and I have not tested it, but you could try with immich public proxy, although not sure if it would let download the original assets or just the high quality thumbnails: https://github.com/alangrainger/immich-public-proxy
https://docs.ipp.nz/config/ipp-options#allowdownload
youre asking for in-flight metadata stripping without changing the visual parts of the source file, which isnt trivial
This is definitely a "privacy-first" option -- if publicly sharing and still wanting to allow downloads, I don't want users having my GPS coordinates, etc.
when you do right-click save as, you dont actually download the original file, instead you make a "copy", thats why the copy doesnt have a metadata
Well, we already have the preview image you’re seeing in the browser. All this would be is serving that file when you click download
