#Need some help migrating my instance between machines

I have two machines running Immich on top of ZimaOS. Been moving my containers to a box that is more purpose built. What's the best way to do a migration? The restore procedures for my version of Immich (v2.1.0) are a bit inaccessible to me. Could I upgrade to a later version and then proceed with the GUI restore?

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:

  • Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
  • Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
  • All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
  • Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
  • Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
  • Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h).
  • The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
  • Any other information that you think might be relevant.

You could run a v2.1 instance remotely, restore into that and upgrade after if you feel the need

I think a 2.1 backup into a 2.5 install should work fine too

I'd most want to do the restore during onboarding so that my users and their libraries all come back working. but the restore from backup option isn't showing on the setup screen
