Hello!
ill keep this short
i got the setup all ready and working. Docker is running on my laptop and the images will be stored on a external drive. now i have close to 10k pictures across the years all on the same drive, i wish to bring them to the app. but uploading them is taking a while, so i was wondering if there is a shortcut here, since everyhing is already on the same system just needs tobe...parsed ig? (idk im not a cs major sadly but i am tech literate, somewhat)

Uploading through the CLI is faster, but processing will still take as long either way

robust jay
#

as long as it isnt uploading and downloading every picture

#

coz its literally all on the same drive on the sasme system

blissful roost
#

well yes it is... but it's not going outside the machine

#

What's the difference between "upload' and "copy" in your case?

robust jay
#

my file are in "to upload" and immich files are in "immich".

#

when i upload its taking eveyhing form "to upload" to the immich server via my router

#

but the server is on this same system

#

i just want to cut the LAN out of the equation

blissful roost
#

Why would it go through the router unless you are using a domain name with a proxy located on a different machine

robust jay
#

oh if i upload through teh web interace (whihc says localhost) then it isnt usin the LAN?

#

ah sweet ill try the tool you gave and see how ti goes

blissful roost
#

localhost is literally "this computer"

#

it'll work even if your cable is unplugged

robust jay
#

that makes sense
