#Syncing Apple Photos on macOS to Immich?

Hi all, I'm working on migrating from Apple's Photos.app on my Mac to Immich.

I have about 4 TB of RAW (.arw) photos stored on my Mac in a Photos.app library; they are not stored or synced via iCloud. Many of these photos have edits applied. Since Immich doesn't currently support editing, I'd like to keep using Photos.app to store and edit my photos, but run some sort of agent on my Mac to automatically backup/sync both the RAW and edited versions to Immich.

Looking at this closed feature request, it looks like there's no plans for a specific Photos.app integration; the closest would be a desktop client, which doesn't exist yet either.

If I want to sync RAW + edits to Immich, is the only option to manually upload both the RAW and the edited file whenever either changes?

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:

  • Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
  • All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
  • Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
  • Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
  • Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h).
  • The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
  • Any other information that you think might be relevant.

Could you load the file path where the photo's are stored as an external drive in immich so it just syncs the folder where the RAW and the edits live? (I'm new so I'm not sure)
