#Is anyone earning passive income with immich?

I would hesitate to offer that kind of service as images are not encrypted and if anyone you give access to uploads CSAM it is then on your server. Unless immich adds encryption to uploads you as the owner are responsible and also it's creepy that you could peek in on their uploads.
Also if someone's paying there are expectations of uptime and data safety, "some free space in your server" is never gonna live up to those
That is the reason I limited the circle to close friends and family.
The images being not encrypted is not a big deal. As even companies like google don’t have e2e for their photos service, employees can access their images.
That is why in cloud, I suggest everyone to never upload private stuff. Upto personal also tolerable but private, just don’t.
I think being able to upload anything would be more valuable. Large file storage can be expensive. Those would be the friends or family members that may use your service if they could save money and don't need high reliability.
Pretty sure this is like ente photos. But would be amazing to have a community hosted photo service where it's kinda like a torrent network but all encrypted and evreyone pays... lets say $15 / 200GB and depending on how much storage you're willing to allocate you get for free
got some free space
Wait wha-
I am aware of at least one instance where money is being earned by hosting immich: https://pixelunion.eu/
Privacy and safety are not optional. Free your photos from American tech platforms.
That is everything but "passive income" though. That's an actual company
