#Images not removing from the server after deleting from Immich Web

I am having an issue where when I delete an image/video from the Immich Web or Mobile App (click delete, then clear the trash bin), it successfully removes it from Immich, but does not remove it from the server where the images are stored in the folder structure.

Steps to reproduce this are:

  1. Click on a photo/video in Immich Web or Mobile App
  2. Click delete (moved to the Trash)
  3. Navigate to the Trash
  4. Empty Trash

When I follow these steps I can no longer view the image/video on the Immich Web or on the Mobile app which initially made me think that the image was now gone. But I could see after deleting some large videos that the storage space on my server was not going down which prompted me to investigate this.

Example below:

  1. Deleted image "DSC_0014.jpg" from the Immich Web and cleared the Trash (Image 1 and 2 attached)
  2. Waited 2 hours to ensure any jobs didnt affect this deletion
  3. Navigated to the folder structure on the server and found image "DSC_0014.jpg" was still present

It would be great if someone could have a look and provide any advice on this.

Thanks
Dave

What are you hosting this on?

#

Ah sorry I see Ubuntu

#

Anything in the logs?

You're attaching extensionless images and that's just very annoying to work with

2 mins, let me copy and paste them

#

Nevermind, I found the culprit, the permissions on the file allowed Immich to upload, but not to delete. Updated file permissions and this is all sorted now. Thanks for your assistance anyway!

I was hoping to see some error deleting in the logs but you figured it out ๐Ÿ‘€
