Hey, I have a questio n about Google Cast license compatibility with immich's AGPLv3 license.

I developed a multimedia app and I wanted to integrate Google cast in it.

As my app is licensed under GPLv3, I didn't integrate it in it as Google Cast is closed source, I understood it violates the GPLv3 license.

Here in immich, I saw it's under AGPLv3, I guess it is also incompatible with Google Cast as AGPLv3 is GPLv3 but modified to comply with web servers. I don't think in that case the AGPLv3 allows closed source libraries.

So I think Google Cast violates the AGPLv3 license and must not be integrated in immich and I'm asking you if you are sure it can be integrated inside immich?

The code included is allowed under the license.

Using non-GPL libraries in GPL code is fine, what gave you the idea it isn't?

I didn't say that using non GPL libraries with GPL is not allowed but I don't think including proprietary libraries is allowed.

Maybe I didn't understand well but that's I understood when I read information about GPL.

As I understand, it's globally not allowed but sometimes exceptions are allowed.
Is Google Cast a valid exception?

#

If yes, what are the criteria to justify it?

Thanks for details
