Images duplicating over night?

Woke up to immich duplicating me and my dads photos. Only photos from our phones with album sync got duplicated.

This is an external library I assume

And as I suspected, you have nested folders in it:

UPLOAD_LOCATION=/mnt/Micron/Familjefoton/immich/upload
THUMB_LOCATION=/mnt/Micron/Familjefoton/immich/upload/thumbs
BACKUP_LOCATION=/mnt/Micron/Familjefoton/immich/upload/backups
ENCODED_VIDEO_LOCATION=/mnt/Micron/Familjefoton/immich/upload/encoded-video

You cannot have an external libary inside of the $UPLOAD_LOCATION or vice versa

It's a simple loop:

1. An item is put in the external library
2. Item is processed (thumbs generated etc)
3. The thumbs are placed in /mnt/Micron/Familjefoton/immich/upload/thumbs ... which is inside the external library
4. See 1. but now with 2 or 3 thumbs

btw @final valve this will loop endlessly and I'm assuming there's already tens of thousands of jobs waiting on your server, better run fast 👀

how would i go about changing this the proper way?

shut down the server, change the env file and start it back up?

or do i just delete everything and start over again?

i will try moving the folders

and then start it back up

seems like it worked

also is there a way to remove the stored thumbnails for the duplicates?

or do they get deleted after deleting the images on immich?
