AVIF images (the AV1, but for images) works fine on the web thanks to browser support, however, enabling "load original images" on the android app makes it so thumbnails display fine, but as soon as the original image loads, nothing is displayed, just the "broken image" icon.
Is this something the app has to support is it dependent on the android vendor? I ask because samsung, for example, does not support AVIF on it's gallery

Do you have a sample image? I can test on another Android device from another vendor

I believe it uses decoders available on the system. It won’t work if there’s no AVIF decoder
