You probably have something else running on 2283.
How do I fix that
Step 1: list the process that is listening on 2283
The "process" column generated by ss -lntu is blank
Yeah, same result
can you post the screenshot of the mobile app where you put in the server url?
Tried replacing "api" with my api key, tried removing it, tried removing "http://"
looks like you are not connecting to wifi
isn't that a public IP address? Are you trying to get immich to work remotely? Perhaps you have an upstream WAF?
that looks like a local IP address
FWIW what you are doing is not recommended, security wise
looks into reverse proxy to properly setup system to access Immich from outside of your network
my bad, it came up in a whois search
The university probably blocks that port ๐
but he can access over Firefox ๐คทโโ๏ธ
anyway tailscale is probably the easiest and safest in this case
How am I supposed to tell which IP addresses are which? What is tailscale?
The documentation for Immich is severely lacking
those aren't Immich information
those are networking knowledge that you will need to search and read on your own
because hosting Immich needs some knowledge of sysadmin, networking to properly run it without the risk of destroying your data ๐
as well as hosting other services
I will switch back to Google Photos and continue recommending it to others instead, I guess ๐
I was under the impression that immich was meant to be possible for regular people to use
Yeah, to host things in general, you will need some knowledge of networking or sys-admin
you will need to understand how to perform backup, system config...etc
it is not a tool for everyday folks yet
unless you are willing to learn ๐
I have a few words to say to those assholes on the internet recommending it, then. I am not using your app if it requires me to take a course in software engineering
people that recommending the apps might have more knowledge of networking and hosting stuffs in general
doesn't make them less of a lying asshole
equires me to take a course in software engineering
not true though, you can learn this by reading information on the internet
clearly not
have you tried?
none of the app's documentation or any forum information suggested anything about the problem.
I will leave you some links if you are interested in reading

nah, google photos is clearly the best choice for 99% of people
true, people self-hosting not because of saving cost but for concern of privacy
your milegage might varies ๐
