Hello, I am considering installing Immich and am looking at the demo on the website (https://demo.immich.app/photos).

  1. The demo doesn't have any videos in its library. I understand from the docs that Immich does support videos. Is this just a thumbnail shown in the library or can the video itself also be viewed?
  2. I am moving from Apple Photos on MacOS. One of the features I like about that is the ability to zoom in/out on the thumbnails in the library (to make the thumbnails bigger or smaller). This makes it a lot easier to scroll through very large libraries and be able to find that one photo you took ages ago. Is this possible in Immich?
  3. The map functionality works similar to Apple Photos. However, when I click on a location in the map in the demo, it immediately loads (full-screen) an image from that location. There doesn't seem to be a way to show the thumbnails for all images associated with that location. Is this possible?
  4. Is there any means of automatically taking photos from the photos library on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) or a Mac computer and having them be entered into Immich? (e.g. can I sync my Apple Photos photos on my iPhone with Immich?)

  1. The video itself can be view when hovered (similar to GPhotos)
  2. You can zoom in and zoom out in the detail view, not from the timeline view on the web, on the mobile app you can use the pinch gesture to do this on the timeline view
  3. Not yet, something we want to work on in the future
  4. Yes, that is what the mobile app is for

I am not sure I understand what do you mean by zoom on the thumbnail itself

Yes, just making all the thumbnails in the timeline bigger or smaller, so you can see more thumbnails in the same screen space

you can hold down the ctrl button or the cmd button and use your mouse wheel to enlarge the whole page, right?

I think that should work for the functionality you are looking for

That enlarges the entire web page, including the side bar, etc. I just want to make the thumbnails themselves smaller.

I'll see if I can make a quick video with Apple Photos to show what I mean.

We don't have this planned at the moment, I think there is a Feature Request for it

And I use this feature in my native gallery app. (Embarrassing I missed this.)

For number 3, the mobile app has a drawer showing all the pictures within the area of the map visible in screen.

Also, there's the Explore tab on the web which has "Places"

So those are the closest to what you want I think.
