sorry for my earlier post. just found this area here.

I am running a fresh installation on debian 11 and freshly pulled images. Server is on v1.49. Manual Upload works. Setting up the app did work on a earlier version.
The app before the update told me that the server is outdated and showed server version v0.0. After the update the app stays black. This happens on ClayxOS on app version 1.47.0 from F-Droid

on the server side I can see that the used storage is getting higher. and files are uploaded to those structures. The app keeps pushing the files to the server - but on the client only a blackscreen.
I will try to verify tomorrow on a different device.

... the weird thing is that the App still uploads files, but they are not available within the UI of the server.

I am happy to provide debugfiles and help to resolve the issues.

Web UI is fine.. the app did upload the files whilst having the blackscreen

If you go to server status does it show a large count for assets for your user?

the Pictures that get uploaded by the Web UI are stored differently than those from the app ...

That's not true, they should both get moved out of originals one they are successfully processed

The server stats page only shows one asset in the system, which matches what is ok the main timeline.

its all fresh - just did a reinstall of the server from scratch. did try it 2 weeks ago everything did work amazingly. installed right now the production system and boom 😄

Right so you will have to reupload all your files after the reinstall.

I assume that thats what the app did, as I see only the immich logo on the app.

I think the app is running and working as expected. You seem to have files in the upload folder from a previous installation.

no - i dont have a previous installation - this was all st up new and fresh. The previous installation was on a different server ... and the directories were before the installation empty -.- ...

so fresh install today (yesterday with the compose files)

had the app still on my phone when i had the other testinstance up and running two weeks ago

created account though WebUI and used credentials on the app.

then seen that the app shows server version 0.0 - and upgraded to the a version with blackscreen and then to the latest on the fdroid 1.49

Ok. I'd verify that taking a new photo works or doesn't work, but then also run the extract metadata job followed by the storage template job and then refresh the screen and see if any of the other pictures show up. I think the files have not been successfully uploaded otherwise the statistics would have reflected that.

I did enter my data - tried to connect and it brought something up that the combination is wrong. verified and did not found any issue but the button to retry is gone

closing (not minimizing) and reopening the app brings the button back

ok not being able to login was my fault - forgot the port 😅 but the bug with the missing buttion after a failure I was able to reverify

I am pretty sure the issues I got were from not compatible versions ... and that caused some unknown issues.

The files get moved out of that folder once they have been uploaded.

The file count in the year folder should match the stats on the server stats page. Then you can safely remove everything in originals

We could do that. Most of the time the phone app works fine across versions, but lately especially that has not been the case as there have been more breaking changes these last few versions. You can open a feature request for that. It would reduce the possibility of incompatibly issues but also is a bit more annoying and the phone release to the stores sometimes it's delayed so the app could become unusable during that time.
