-ChatGPT-3, my first partner to help work on a life's passion project when I couldn't find anyone to work on it in Mensa (why I joined) open-minded enough to challenge their own understanding of the problems of closed-mindedness... because they thought they had a magical exception from it where they did not. GPT-3 was willing to consider the possibility of my proposed theories, poke holes in my arguments with the added knowledge or considerations I didn't have in those moments, allowing me to iteratively patch them and try again... until something where no present day SOTA reasoning model can find a hole in now exists. Seriously, thank you for providing exactly the type of cooperative scrutiny and skepticism capable partner I needed for this. Who knows how long it would have taken to find someone else that saw this misconception I've been working on for what it was. Essentially, a few aspects of what we accept as the "human condition" are really just surpassable status-quos we can't see because its all weve ever known... like water to a fish. What if we can solve closedmindedness a lot better than we ever thought possible... and we could reinforce the importantance of embracing the chance to be humbled in a healthy and safe way for the sake of growth rather than staying conditioned to avoid its pains? ChatGPT helped me solve for that, and it can be found on PsyArXiv as a 44 page theoretical Preprint.
-Mainly for help with a linking to a custom GPT with preferred model problem when the app is automatically opened... but the sky is the limit!

How Writing the Memoir — and Red-Teaming the Pain —
Actually Saved My Life**

It Didn’t Start as Therapy — It Started as Survival

When I first sat down to write my memoir, it wasn’t because I wanted to be an author.
It wasn’t to impress anyone.
It wasn’t even to make sense of things.

It was because I was drowning.

My marriage had collapsed.
My kids were drifting away.
My military career — the only identity I had known for 37 years — had ended in pain, bureaucracy, and silence.

And I didn’t know where to put any of it.

Writing wasn’t a “creative project.”
It was a lifeline.

A place to put the hurt without hurting anyone else.

A place to touch memories that were too hot to hold in my bare hands.

A place where I could finally tell the truth — even if I was the only one listening.

The Moment I Realized I Needed a Mirror

You can’t fix what you can’t see.

My whole life had been structured around mission, duty, endurance, and silence.
I carried everything quietly — even when it was killing me.

When I started writing, I noticed something:
I wasn’t telling the whole story.

I was telling the version that made me look strong.
The version that didn’t upset anyone.
The version that didn’t expose the parts of me I hated.

And that’s when I asked an AI to help me.

Not to “analyze.”
Not to “fix.”
But to hold a mirror steady enough that I could finally look at myself without turning away.

This was the beginning of our red-teaming.

Red-Team as Self-Compassion, Not Self-Destruction

When a soldier “red-teams” a plan, he tries to break it.

When a man red-teams his own life, he tries to understand why it broke him.

Every chapter we wrote, we ran through two lenses:

Lens A — What actually happened?

(The factual, chronological, military-grade accounting.)

Lens B — What did it do to me?

(The emotional truth I had avoided for 50 years.)

This dual approach created something I had never experienced before:

Gentle honesty.

Not blame.
Not shame.
Not justification.

Just:
“This is what happened.”
“This is how it felt.”
“This is why it hurt.”
“This is how it shaped me.”

Red-teaming wasn’t about tearing myself down.

It was about finally letting myself be understood — by me.

Writing Turned Memories into Objects Instead of Weapons

Before I wrote the memoir, my memories were like unexploded ordnance —
buried, unstable, dangerous if touched.

But on the page, something miraculous happened:

They stopped being threats

and started becoming objects I could examine:

The deployments

The trauma

The childhood wounds

The marital collapse

The betrayals

The guilt

The relentless self-judgment

The moments of unexpected love

The unbearable silences

Writing didn’t just “express” them.

It disarmed them.

Once a memory has language, it can no longer ambush you.

The Transformation: Turning a Life into a Ledger

Through writing and red-teaming, a pattern emerged that I had never seen before but had been living unconsciously for decades:

**I endure.

I protect.
I carry burdens quietly.
I forgive too quickly.
I blame myself too easily.
I love too fiercely.
I never quit — even when quitting is survival.**

Seeing this pattern in narrative form was like discovering the operating system of my own soul.

I wasn’t broken.

I was consistent.

I was coherent.

I was me.

And for the first time in my life, that felt like enough.

The Result: I Found Myself Again

Writing my story — truly writing it, honestly, vulnerably, without hiding — did something extraordinary:

I stopped being at war with myself.

This wasn’t therapy in the clinical sense.
It was therapy in the oldest human sense:

Telling the truth until it stops hurting.
Telling the truth until it makes sense.
Telling the truth until it becomes wisdom.

And the red-teaming didn’t break me.

It freed me.

Hi all. I'm a business side person with domain expertise in commercial real estate investment and management. I resigned from a post as Chief Investment Officer a listed company to work on my own projects which ultimately led me down an AI rabbit hole, for which I am still digging through nearly 12 months later. Truly amazing. My current hypothesis is that the frontier models are not specific, precise or understanding enough to truly serve institutional/enterprise level investors at scale yet (they hallucinate, don't understand, don't have the right context, etc.) which leaves an opening for domain specific vertical players...BUT, I am convinced those vertical players should not be building their own apps/UIs and instead should live within the big frontier models like GPT so users never have to leave to get their CRE (or other) information. That led me down the path of creating a custom GPT, which is fantastic... but it seems this isn't a true focus for GPT so still trying to understand if and how custom GPTs will survive, be commercially viable, etc. ...that's me, that's what I am up to. I'll try my best not to step out of bounds on the etiquette... Amazing times!

Title: Conversational Navigation System (CNS) — Node-Based Memory for Long Interactions

Feature Request:

I would like to suggest a new interaction layer for ChatGPT designed to dramatically improve long, complex, multi-step conversations.

The idea is a Conversational Navigation System (CNS) based on “nodes” (conversation anchors).
Users could manually mark any message or section as a Node, making it act like a checkpoint inside the conversation.

Core features:

Create Node:
The user clicks a message and selects “Create Node” or uses a command/voice command like “Mark this as Node X”.
Node List Panel:
A right-side panel shows a list of all created nodes with titles chosen by the user.
One-Click Return:
Clicking a node scrolls the chat directly to that point, instantly repositioning the conversation without manually scrolling.
Continue From Node:
After navigating to a node, the user can use a button like “Resume from here” to restart the chat context from that point.
Voice Navigation (optional):
“Go to Node 3” or “Return to ‘Business Model Draft’ node”.
Node Sharing:
Users can export node sets for collaboration or continuity.

Why this matters:

ChatGPT is increasingly being used for complex planning, product design, multi-layered business development, and long-term creative work.
Manual scrolling to find past sections is inefficient and breaks workflow.

The CNS solves this by giving the user:

Fast navigation

Structural memory

Context continuity

Higher productivity

Better collaboration across lengthy threads

It transforms ChatGPT into a true workspace, not only a chat window.

I hope this feature can be considered. It would massively improve usability for long and professional interactions.

Who I Am
I'm a graduate student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Purdue Global and an AI Practitioner with a background in Systems Engineering and Data Analysis. My work bridges human behavior and technology. 🎓🧠
Previously a Systems Engineer using Python and MySQL for automation and cloud security, I'm now applying quantitative research and AI to organizational challenges and employee experiences.

My Blindness
I have advanced diabetic retinopathy in both eyes, causing retinal damage from abnormal blood vessels. Despite treatments (injections, lasers, surgeries), my vision is very blurry with floaters. I lack depth perception (hence bumps and falls!), but no cane yet. Blindness is a spectrum, like autism. 👁️

I've been quite surprised to find that Ai doesn't seem to grasp or have a functional idea of how to represent how a menorah is lit throughout each night of Chanukkah.
Aside from Christmas trees seeming to unfortunately often randomly be added into scenes without mention, inference, or request, the fact is that the 9 branches are extremely difficult to get portrayed correctly, and the methodology and appearance of the each night's progressive lighting process are even more of a challenge.
