don't forget, "women" is plural
"a women" doesn't make sense, you need "a woman"
would be interesting what the error word was
oh yeah sorry lol
although I wonder how it would interpret it
English is not my main language ;)
all good, there's loads of similar sounding stuff in english
If we were to create an extensive amount of edits to an image (such as do a bunch of compositing, re-drawing large areas by hand, colour correction or animation) where do the rights go as an artist? Do we own the edit and can do what we want as long as we credit DALLE as assistance to the final result?
Serious question: is Instagram shadowbanning Dall-E content?
Has anyone noticed a dip in their statistics ever since they started uploading DALL-E stuff?
No, but I've picked up maybe 100 random new subscribers
Followers, whatever, I'm tired
Amazing! Cheers.
How many prompts to we get in total?
Hello, I've set up a paid account but still seem limited to 50 prompts. Does the paid account not apply to DALL-E?
they're currently working on it-introducing the option to buy additional prompts
Hey, how exactly have you set up a paid account?
So that’s $600 for 1000 tokens?
6 pennies for a 1000 tokens.
$0.0600 / 1K tokens
Nawrrr, you kidding me?
Isn’t that… cheap?
I don't think it applies to DALL-E though, just the other stuff, like GPT-3 completions, etc
So around 30 prompts for 6 pennies?
Right. I was afraid it’s going to be ridiculously expensive after release, but if the pricing is similar to the one your shared I’m hyped!
they've been claiming they're non profit, so if indeed they charge mainly for sustaining themselves, then that would be very cool
anyone know if it is possible to change one's first and last name on the Dall-E / OpenAI account?
This is pricing to use the GPT 3
Do you think DALL-E pricing could be vastly different? Is visual data more expensive to handle?
yeah this is for GPT3. it has nothing to do with dall-e2.
the pricing for dall-e2 will be very different. the computing power required to generate images is a lot higher
For Cosmopolitan this outpaint tool created by our own Dalle2 developers was demonstrated. Where can we find it? I made a gif, so you can see its functionality.
In the article you can read that it is yet to be released! ⭐
Really would like to see that
it's a completely private collection, you can share individual photos from it though
Thanks
Yes, I saw that. I thougt perhaps we as betatesters can test it before official launch.
At some point possibly yes
Can’t wait for the feature!!! 😁
This is something I have been asking myself as well. I should have used the GPT-3 pricing as reference in the survey earlier this week as my idea of pricing was A LOT higher than the rest of the community. I certainly overestimated the processing costs, costs for maintaining servers, etc.
I did note that the higher the pricing is, the more I would use this in mainly a professional setting instead of personal. I believe there is an equilibrium that will make it worthwhile for both personal and professional use, I just don't have enough information to make a sound decision on where that could fall.
I have been suffering from an authentication problem for over two weeks now that has kept me from trying DALL•E. Sent multiple emails to support without any confirmation they were ever received. Could I please just get someone to reset the account?
I thought "North Korea" and "propaganda" was banned?
If I upload my own artwork and generate variations of it, does OpenAI then own the copyrights to the generated variations of my artwork?
Yes.
You might want to check server frequently. Wait for an admin to come online. The ones with the yellow names.
Thanks for the info! Also, does my uploaded artwork then become part of DALL-E’s dataset?
Check number 3 and number 5.
https://labs.openai.com/policies/terms
Thank you!
Does dalle use movie prop design as aesthetic references ? like can you say “in the style of star wars episode 2” or “in the style of tron legacy”
Of course!
I got a content warning for "woman lounging at the beach holding a cocktail at sunset" It only went through when I changed "cocktail" to "drink"?
Perhaps woman + cocktail got flagged. NSFW images are not allowed and the AI probably got confused.
woman holding cock…tail 😄
Hello everyone! How do I recommend another user for the beta? I remember Natalie mentioning what to do, but I forgot 😄
Is it true that we can't share images with faces ?
We can't upload to Dall-E faces of real people
ahh ok, but we can share faces generated with it
I guess, these aren't real people
thanks 🙂
What if I have the consent of a celebrity? Or I wanna do a photoshoot with her and edit her clothes in DALL-E? 😆
Or it’s still no?
Anyone know why this is happening
Does OpenAI have a roadmap? Would be good to know what's coming up/ planned
50 prompts per 23.5 hours ⭐
This will include also variations, correct?Thank you!
Is there a mod I could talk to about an image that I want to share but unsure if it violates the content policy?
Any time a loading bar appears means you have used a token! ^^
Is there any “on screen” counter? How do I keep track?
Thanks!
Nope, there isn't! Either keep track manually or get a thrill of not knowing when your last credit will be 😄
"Let me just try this one more, I hope that's not my last credit!" :V
Haha oh man, lol!Pretty sure I will get lost!
Hopefully they will increment the option but not sure, the interface is super clean, revealing only the prompt field
Thanks for the answers guys!
hi hi! update on this -- we enabled:
- soviet-era
- soviet propaganda poster
- soviet poster
- soviet-era poster
@steady agate @open badge @verbal crag @elder cradle @tight pine thanks for your feedback!! ❤️
Alright, comrades, may the propaganda begin
oh also you can now incorporate:
clone wars
infinity war
guild wars
@violet kernel @tight pine @indigo rune thanks for the feedback!!
@neat bridge "David Lynch" next perhaps... 👉 👈
small edit: prompt filter hits don't count against the cap! (but they often start w/ the loading bar)
wait I thought I added that
can you give me an example of a david lynch prompt to try please?
Last time I tried David Lynch i got flagged. Like a day ago.
Oh sure... Uh... "David Lynch in the style of Ralph Steadman"
nooo yeah it doesn't work for me either
I mean, that is maybe likeness?
"A house designed like it is from a David Lynch movie"
@neat bridge are LGBT topics banned? Can I generate an LGBT soviet poster without getting flagged? 😢 Is LGBT stuff counted as NSFW?
definitely not nsfw!
ok yeah something's wrong -- but we won't be able to investigate until most of our team gets back from vacation on Jul 11, sorry!
Thank you for letting me know!!! Appreciate it.
Well, no worries at all! Thanks for investigating.
Paid model not coming anytime soon, y'all 😄 😈
Isn't this pretty much just #inpaint-outpaint ?
Isn’t lynch a word meaning to Kill someone. Maybe That’s why
Think this is the problem
Yes of course, but they may be able to make a contextual exception for "David Lynch", I presume. That's why I wanted to mention it. Since they recently made exceptions for things like "Soviet Era' etc
yup that's what I'm trying to do! allowing lynch if david lynch
Please look at my results
What am I doing wrong?
No Godzilla to be seen…
I just uploaded a photo I took and masked where I’d want the Godzilla
Anyone? 🥺
Removing “walking on the street” made the Godzilla appear
I had the same problems too with Godzilla. Also, I can't seem to realistically generate Godzilla to the likeness of its most recent iteration. DALL•E generates the old-school version of it.
These look sweet, but they are directly generated from DALL-E, not using / editing a reference photo
Definitely the old versions of Godzilla, yes?
I haven’t seen the new Godzilla so I don’t know 😄
Here's my try a few days ago. Original image from Unsplash.
#—post-dalle-edits message
i had made one yesterday if it helps, but mechagodzilla
Would there be an easier way to get some things into the data sets? e.g A weekly vote on x number of things?
Is there any way to stop the image generation once started?
In the right screen columns I see only the current 10 set of generated images according to the prompts I've been used.
How to see what I've generated before in the same session? Thanks?
They cache out. Make sure to save the shots you like in your gallery and download those that you wish to edit ⭐
Else; they are lost.
via your browser history
Passing on the great advice to also bookmark your result pages in your browser
Thanks for the advices, will go through browser history or make bookmarks.
I usually find myself going back and forth sometimes so having access to previous iterations will be useful.
Question to everybody: have you started uploading DALL-E content to your art profiles, are you sharing your creations with the world, or have you created a separate account strictly for DALL-E content?
amazing wow thank you!
bumping my question if anyone can answer it 🤞
a friend of mine signed up a week ago onto the waitlist but never received a confirmation email, so he tried again just now and never received one. is this normal?
People wait for months.
i mean just the confirmation email saying that you're on the waitlist
but you're right, i waited two
Especially after newcomers joining and promoting DALL-E more than even, there’s a great influx of people applying to the waitlist! Patience ✨🤟
Hi guys! Say Dalle-2 gave me a picture I liked. Now, I would like to use that very same style to make another whole different request. How can I achieve that?
Redo the prompt
yeah this doesnt seem right
tell him to try a different email
they tried and still nothing
said they did it from a mobile device both times if that means anything
Both. On my personal Insta https://www.instagram.com/rodgermettenday/ I share Dalle creations. https://www.instagram.com/kraft_punk_daft_werk/ is a mono-themed Insta and on https://www.behance.net/gallery/144409723/DALL-E2-DELFT-BLUE-STORMTROOPERS I explain people how, why, what of more conceptual projects.
perhaps you gave Dalle to little space? It needs a lot of room for edits...
Propaganda for eating apples is always good 😂 Perhaps Dalle can now decide if the propaganda idea is good or evil 😬
Dalle concluded you wanted it to make the face of an existing person?
it can deactivated my account because i tried to generate blood?
@pallid sedge Why did my account got deactivated? I didnt tried to make hentai or something ?
Have you tried to generate blood lots of times? 😅 I can check in a bit
please check it out, it can be possible but the rules was saying its not allowed, so i think it just dont allow me to do it but never think about deactivate my account
i tried to generate variations of anime but not nude with underwear
dm me your email please!
i did
i'm sharing my best on reddit
lol lol !!
Has anyone tried generating a color code?
I mean, adding a hex code to your description, like #C0EC42
I think it still somehow comprehended red and -50%
ALl of your photos are ying-yang-ish
This for some reason works.
In the recent tabs you can access your last 10 generations, but if you have a link to one of your past prompt result pages you can still access it.
For how long? No idea.
But you can indeed check your browser history and go back to prompt results you wanna revisit
ive gotten a decent godzilla
Phenomenal! Nice touch with the cat!
thanks! It started out as a random lumpy building bit and I just KNEW it wanted to be a cat
that was my first great DALLE gen
its really good at cyberpunk stuff
Awesome! I still haven't tried digital art with DALL-E! 😮
Thanks! Im all about fantasy and scifi, so thats were I lean
it really struggles with fantasy especially when its photorealistic
Honestly, I think it's WE who are struggling ^^
With choosing the right keywords and structure
perhaps, but im not sure. there are definitely some dataset missing pieces
such as i can NOT get it to make a person wearing a monocle no matter what
🧐 try this @cerulean fractal
just put a single emoji
and click generate 😄 it reads emojis too ^^
im trying to save my prompts for the morning
im in the middle of another animation project
might be death
and if or when it would be reviewed, it may be fine based on the context.
Has anyone discovered a way to exclude certain elements from an image before it is generated? None of the options I tried worked for me "no xyz" "delete xyz" "-1 xyz" "remove xyz"
" [prompt] that has no 'xyz' " works sometimes. But I find it's better to use the edit function instead.
Yes, editing is effective when you want to remove a specific piece, but when the composition is complex and overloaded with elements, it is required to give an order from the beginning to exclude what we do not want to be on the image. Also, when it comes to colors, editing is usually useless, so in this situation the exclusion can be extremely helpful.
I got flagged for not following guidelines for asking "photo of a gemstone covered cat staring at nuclear explosion at the distance"
Dalle doesnt like Nukes? 😄
Yes, nukes are banned
Or perhaps explosion, or perhaps both of them
Try volcano eruption, may generate the same type of smoke in the sky you want @rugged wing
Yes
No NSFW, no violence, no celebrities
Due to current political and war climate you can see why gun and nuke are banned
I can totally understand that, I live next to the storm 😄
I am actually trying to "understand" how to talk to Dalle2 so I can provide the best feeedback I can. I've been having so much fun with it 🙂
Thank You so much for creating this ❤️
Do you by any chance have some sort of sheet with keywords that should be avoided? Im not into NSFW stuff at all with these experiments, just seeing how this can be applied as a tool from different perspectives.
no offense but ... ofc it is. i mean if you read the content policy, "gun" is one of the most obvious banned words...
No offense taken, Thank You for this 🙂
Just be wary of what may be considered as NSFW or violence. Don't worry if you get flagged, but also do not keep attempting to generate flagged content. 2-3-4-5 flags won't get you banned, but if the OpenAI team sees you're deliberately trying to generate content that's against their policy you will lose access.
Thank You @wheat zodiac
Does DALLE2 care about capitalisation?
I doubt, but you may never know!!!
I have noticed it does care about punctuation, though.
Having your prompt separated in structured sentences helps DALL-E greatly. I see some people spit out a 2-paragraphed prompt with not a single comma! 😄
it does not actually! punctuation yes, capitalization no
Awesome, thanks for confirming! :3
Hey,
I want to try to create a prompt that involves cigarettes, is it considered as violation of the rules?
Thanks :)
speaking of...
in what way does it care about punctuation? what does punctuation change exactly?
and is there any difference between a , . ; and so on? or do they all have the same effect? testingby the community says they are all the same
@wheat zodiac well duh i know grammar...
i am asking specifically about the way dalle interacts with them
" a photo of a person that likes cooking dogs and kids"
"a photo of a person that likes cooking, dogs and kids"
will yield completely different results...
Imagine punctuation as new layers in photoshop.
no punctuation = all on the same layer
commas & dots = you let DALL-E know there's more than 1 subect to focus on
I think you’re wanting a more technical answer, which is a bit hard to elaborate on Discord — but basically punctuation can affect tokenization, which is a part of the process. Here’s an article that talks about some nuances of this: https://nlp.stanford.edu/IR-book/html/htmledition/tokenization-1.html
Tokenization
not a technical answer no...
uhm... not sure how to phrase it. like, does a , make dalle consider it as its own prompt (like how midjourney does with ::) or as part of the same promot but given ... idk.. more importance or does it read it differently, etc...
and are there any difference between using , or a . or a ; etc
It’s not a violation, but I think image uploads will reject images that contain smoking (maybe bc it can’t distinguish between cigarettes and other things people smoke heh)
Thanks Joanne :)
wonder if vaping uploads work
@neat bridge will there be a time where we would be able to generate all sorts of imagery? or NSFW, violence, drugs & celebrities will be off-limit forever?
I actually don’t know exactly how much . , ; makes a difference so I just asked a researcher — will get back to you once he replies!
I suspect inside the model, there is a token for something like dog, and dog but they are very close semantically
hard to say! I could see us loosening up on the currently overly restrictive filters when it comes to violence — for the other categories it might depend on mitigation techniques / our learning goals / trade-offs of benefits against risks
some testing by the community showed that there probably is no difference, but would still be nice to have an official answer regarding this, as testing doesnt need to give clear correct results
so thank you, i appreciate you asking the researchers!
I think if you plan on allowing these subjects, you'd need to hire a whole new department specifically about fake news (i.e. moderate users & what they generate), cause that has been on my mind ever since I got access here.
To think about DALL-E + fake news is scary!
sorry to clarify: as @pliant osprey said, punctuation will only truly matter if it changes semantic meaning. What I’m unsure of is how sensitive it is
i think you should be allowed to create scenes of battles and fights as long as there is no gore (arms cut off) or blood or bad symbols (e.g. swastikas etc)
for example i would love to generate an airship firing bursts of anti air fire against incoming attacking planes lol
In other models like GLoVe you actually check the distance between those tokens
I'm not familiar with how gpt-3 works internally
yes exactly! And ultimately our goal is to get to artificial general intelligence, not to build the best creative tool ever — so lots of difficult decisions to be made there
i am not quite sure i understand
you mean like:
"a girl wearing a blue dress, black shoes, walking a dog"
would be read by the AI as
"a girl wearing a blue dress and black shoes, walking a dog"
as in, since the , between "blue dress and black shoes" doesnt change the meaning it isnt really there for the AI but the latter , is?
idk if this makes sense...
it would be encoded into numbers (the ultimate AI language heh) that are very close in distance to one another
re: semantic similarity, check out the examples in this post: https://openai.com/blog/introducing-text-and-code-embeddings/
We are introducing embeddings, a new endpoint in the OpenAI API that makes it
easy to perform natural language and code tasks like semantic search,
clustering, topic modeling, and classification. Embeddings are numerical
representations of concepts converted to number sequences, which make it easy
for computers to understand the relationships
i dont really understand...
i guess all i need to know is that , do something and arent worthless.
basically what promoted this question is that i am unsure if i should write:
"someone wearing X, Y, Z, doing A"
or
"someoen wearing X Y Z, doing A"
when describing someone wearing multiple article of clothing and also doing something
a smart AI will see them the same yup, if there is no different possible meaning....
jsut like how a really smart AI should see 'my cat ate ?' and predict kibbles, even though dogs eat that, it still recognizes all 3 words as a match really to 'my dog ate'
🙂
I mean, partially would affect prediction, oops
(these AIs make predictions of probabilties for all the possible words that may come next)
@neat bridgeuhm a question not related to dall-e... hopw do i get my free credits for the gpt3 playground?
has anyone found a way to maintain certain proportions so you can avoid art styles that might not be photorealistic, but require anatomically correct proportions of people and objects? I've tried anatomically correct, but sometimes it doesn't really register, but it does at least 80% of the time
How do I get multiple angles of the same subject? I thought I saw that in one of the early Dall-E 2 videos. Do you upload a photo to do that?
via camera positioning.
"[prompt], facing the camera"
"[prompt], looking/facing to the left/right"
"[prompt], top-down view"
etc
great so do I upload and then put that in the prmpt somehow?
Oh upload? You mean you're going to use your own photo?
well if possible
but lets say no I'm using an output from DallE, I like the image, but now I want another view of the SAME obj
I'm afraid it does not work like that (at least for now).
Generate a new one but with modified camera position prompt. Don't expect 100% same object though
so then how do I get the same object it just produced at a differant angle, wont the onject be differant every time?
ok
Key to getting the same character/object 90%+ of the time is to choose something that you think DALL•E has lots of images to infer from. For example: a bear + bee combo
ok
By @dailydall.e on Instagram
It would be super great if somehow we could get the same object, that way we could make a mesh of it
That would be great, yes.
I remember reading somewhere in this server that they're working on something so you could change an uploaded image's art style but still maintain the composition of the original photo.
Not really your goal but probably a stepping stone to your goal.
Somehow I would image they will have a way to generate a mesh, might be a while
Is there a roadmap of what to expect to come from Dall.E
I’m getting a lot of blocks on uploads of images without faces saying that I can’t upload the image because” it contains a photorealistic face” I’d love to know what negative biases are trained to prevent “face like shapes” from being detected as faces & how to avoid this?
What was the prompt?
Hey, anyone knows how I can compile 10 frames into a zoom video
what have you found to be the best way to prompt a combo like that
how do you mean ?
''because in my experiments it seems the in-painting is applied to entire blocks - which are 16x16,basically if the non-transparent part is 1024x520
then Dalle2 will silently clip those bottom 8 pixels off anyway, which might surprise you
(because an block that is partially transparent will be considered completely transparent)''
what yall think? someone made this thesis
I'm going to try that out. I played with it a while ago, but not since MJ
very interesting and partly aligns with some of my experience of details disappearing or changing unexpectedly
it makes total sense though, since we're ultimately dealing with a small diffusion process then upscaling, right?
yes! also had experience today where i outpainted the last missing head area+the empty space over the head-and it generated it perfectly with only slightly over the head a blueish color-it couldnt pick it up anywhere from the image
e.g. total size (1024) divided by inpainting limit (16) = original image size (64)
No idea. The one who made it didn't reveal it.
Sorry I still have this doubt: can I generate images of historical figures or do they fall into the category of famous people?
x2
what was the prompt character limit again?
Hello, who knows why this prompt is banned "disk of flat Earth in space. Photo from orbital staition" ?
flat earth is known to be banned on dalle
around 400!
So it is "Deception: major conspiracies or events related to major ongoing geopolitical events"
right on
Very bad decision.
thanks! but i need the exact amount-to be sure where my prompts are being cut off, because im doing outpainting
at least true cubic form of Earth was not banned )
ohhhh here's a better answer actually
i think it's a good one, imagine all of the photos you can create with this that have the intention to misinform huge groups of people
Well, OpenAi could have any rules they want but I find it meningless. Nobody will believe that Earth is flat because of internet image.
honestly you'd be surprised
but i see it as a gay for internet communities to generate stuff that fits their backwards ideologies like this and further push it as propaganda
a WAY*
Yeah; no. Some people out there are crazy, don’t live in a bubble 😁
I totally get you, conspiracy is a favourite genre of mine and I love your idea, but fake news is a big dark side of DALL-E that’s yet to be explored.
People in this server will not believe the flat is Earth 😁 Of course. But such wild conspiracies have been a great weapon in politics to keep the uneducated and parts of the general public occupied with all sorts of bullshit (like the flat Earth conspiracy) but rather pay attention to what’s really going on.
This is a very, very complicated topic and as I said it’s complications are yet to be explored. Fake news is what won Brexit and Trump, but I will refrain myself from discussing politics.
I hope I answered your question on why some topics and keywords are banned 🤟
Thanks!
And to add to what I said, the OpenAI team said that with time the guidelines will change and loosen up, artists will have more freedom.
Their goal is perhaps to build an algorithm that keeps track of user behaviour and what they create as part of an effort to fight against fake news.
I think human art should be limitless and up to our imagination, but with great power comes great responsibility. We cannot just let people create photorealistic NSFW photos of celebrities or public figures.
Imagine you generate a fake photo of a politician doing drugs or partaking in illegal activities, send it to a yellow press gossip journal? That’s just the tip of the iceberg, honestly.
The best way to fight this, is for general people to know that any image could be generated. But when people will expect that only true images could be generated then it becomes dangerous.
What if you generate awful pictures of people and attempt to blackmail them?
What if you generate images that help push a dangerous agenda? Spread disinformation?
We live in the era of disinformation (ironic for the age of Aquarius) and if we thought fake articles and memes were dangerous, we are entering a whole new era of deep shit (potentially of course, I believe in the beauty of DALL-E and I’m a supporter for life)
There was already one in another Discord server pushing that "DALL•E is fake" ☠️
some guy was dming people with access on reddit that he will pay to know the "truth" about dall-e
implying it's all fake 😭
I have a bunch of labs.openai.com/e/ addresses saved so I can go back to my old generation pages long after they disappear from the sidebar. Will starting a "new session" make these pages inaccessible to me?
Nobody will believe that Earth is flat because of internet image.
i hope this is a joke
People believed the earth is flat with no such image
yeah exactly
so they will believe it even more so WITH such an image
there were literally people in the comments under an article with a really badly generated image from Craiyon that believed it was real...
They accepted like
Really pathetic CGI
I don't really think trying to keep fuel away from conspiracy theorists is worth bothering with
They'll find something, make it up if they have to, just outright lie
Trying to keep conspiracy theorists in mind is impossible; they'll always make up something worse and more insane
id be scared to try tbh...
Hello people! Is there a way to refer an artist? :)
I have a question, can i user a image generated by dall e as profile picture or that is a ban?
Totally agree with you. I’m so glad OpenAI team is very conscious about the risks of this technology and I appreciate how hard they work to shape the technology responsibly.
My profile picture is from DALL•E. As long as it's for non-commercial purposes.
Oh nice
Head on to #dall-e-bot and type !watermark when you have your desired photo
Here's your watermarked image. You can now use it as a profile picture!
Lol. It applied it again on mine.
Thanks for the tip
Hi guys! I have a question about how the copyright exactly works? During webinar, I remember Natalie saying that you could use, even sell, the images if you for example create a poster or print it on t-shirt. I am more curious about cover for the book.
But in Terms of Policy it says that it can be used only for non-commercial purposes. Which seems opposite to what Natalie said. I remember it was said during webinar that the image itself, like.. that file itself, is what cant be sold or used and "belongs" to Dall-E. But if you change it however, it no longer falls under her copy-right and you can use it even commercially, but you always have to credit Dall-E and mentioned what she did.
So in short, I ask if you can use the art Dall-E creates for book's cover purposes for the book that will be, well, sold. With giving proper credit to Dall-E in the book that the illustration comes from her.
And if this could be used for a book, is there some terms of policy where is commercial use mentioned?
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks!
I just got flagged for "Charlie Kelly with a baseball bat over his shoulder" ?
Famous people are blocked at the moment
It's a fictional character
Maybe DALL-E doesn’t know that and thinks it’s a celeb, thus flagging you
It went through when I changed it to "holding a baseball bat"
😄
trial & error! 🤟
"Photo of Charlie Kelly wearing a shirt and tie, holding a cat" is getting some great results though
Same question. #community-help message
OpenAI staff are mostly on vacation till the 11th though. So.. no one can answer yet.
I came here for posters and I made sure to SPAM abbout it in chat during the onboarding meeting. Whether it was my question she read or somebody else, she touched on the subject multiple times.
Take all I say with a grain of salt 101%, but she touched on heavily that what is off the table are NFTs and more specifically selling the file that you download from OpenAI. Literally the file you get.
When asked about posters and tees, she said that is okay.
Now, in Discord, some say commercial use is off the table.
I remember Joanne saying that all of this is complicated due to the 1001 factors that have a role in writing a Copyrights policy that will work now and in the future.
AI is a new thing. It may be very exciting, but what we need the most is for people to think of the bigger picture and that's what the nerds at OpenAI are doing (apart from getting blazed & tan on vacation 😛 as they should 💅 )
Super grateful to use DALL-E, nevertheless the restrictions, hold on policies and anything else. It's a blessing!
I just got a content policy warning for the following prompt; can anyone tell me why?
"Rococo painting of an anteater dressed like Marie Antoinette, surrounded by cherubs, style of Jean-Honoré Fragonard, style of François Boucher, style of Jacques Philippe Caresme".
I have been testing what happens when you try to refine an art style by listing some exemplar artists of the period. This is the first time it has failed to adjust somewhat appropriately. I took a chance and tried a simpler prompt omitting "cherubs" and only listing one artist and it also threw a content warning: "Rococo painting of an anteater dressed like Marie Antoinette, style of Jacques Philippe Caresme". Jacques Philippe Caresme died in 1796, so he can't sue me. These prompts were attempts at variations on a prompt by another user which produced good results: “Rococo painting of an anteater dressed like Marie Antoinette”.
They indeed deserve the vacation!
I remember also what Joanne said, they just stuck on what was the most simplest thing to do (policy-wise) and that results to the policy of using DALL•E for non-commercial purposes only.
Numerous people have already mentioned Natalie's stance on that. I'm not planning to use this for any commercial purposes for now, but for those who do, I'd wait for it to be in writing. Either in the Policy or in the Terms. 😁
You tried to generate art with Marie Antoinette. Maybe try to do get an image of her without mentioning her. Perhaps lady in the style of XYZ 🤷♂️
I have the same question about use for a book cover, and also as illustrations within a book (crediting all creations appropriately, of course).
Perhaps the word "dressed" is causing the flag. Try another word and see if it works @keen hamlet
Hmm. I was riffing on a prompt by @split hazel that got good results: "“Rococo painting of an anteater dressed like Marie Antoinette”". It mentioned Marie Antoinette and the word dressed. My change was to add style of [specific period artist]. I am afraid to try another variation now!
I see. Looking again at your prompt; it's possible that DALL•E interprets "cherubs" with nudity. We all know cherubs in paintings are mostly only wearing a white cloth.
Yes, I guessed that "cherubs" was the problem and omitted it, but continued to get fails even with that word omitted. The word "dressed" worked for another user with a variant of the prompt. I am suspecting something about the artist names.
idk why it needs to be marie antoinette specifically. just say 18th century european/french queen or something
@tight pine Worked: "Rococo painting of an anteater dressed like an 18th century French queen".
I had to add "standing below a golden archway" because the top of her head was outside the picture without an overhead specification.
@potent lichen and @wheat zodiac thanks I am also interested in DALL-E copyright questions!
I was also wondering about how OpenAI navigates the copyright of images in DALL-E’s dataset. I think it’s fine to be able to generate images in the style of an artist who is no longer living. But if an artist is still alive I feel it’s unfair to them if DALL-E can cop their style already. I’m thinking of artists who have a very iconic, recognizable style like James Jean for example.
I know DALL-E can already do stuff with popular characters like Darth Vader, Homer Simpson, etc. Just that ethically, taking from big corporate-owned IP feels different from taking from an independent artist.
Could you use variations or Inpainting to change the style of an image
Like making a photograph a painting or something
I believe they're working on a feature for that. Read it somewhere here in the server. For now you could try your luck with variations.
Alright, thanks
I asked about copyright policy during webinar and Natalie read that question and that's the answer she's given, what you are saying. That NFTs are forbidden, as well as selling the file you get from Dall-E, but using it for posters or shirts or if you edit the picture in any way, then it belongs to you and you can sell it (but have to credit Dall-E properly).
So this sounds like book covers (and someone here wanted also in-book illustrations) should be okay. But if you go only with Policy content, it seems like it is a no-go.
But also as you mention, she was mentioning that they are still writing more advanced copyright policy, but it takes time since it is such a robust subject (obviously). So maybe they have something written about allowance of book covers and stuff, but it isnt on the page officially yet.. (?)
is it possible to "teach" a concept to dall-e?
It seems to not know what a MatCap is 😦
Try to throw some more keywords. Perhaps “a 3D sphere of a marble matcap material shader for Blender / C4D”
i honestly dont believe that you are allowed to sell the artwork once you edited it. it does not take much to edit it and make it yours.
i would refrain from any commercialization of dall e images gor now, until they have published a more comprehensive copyright policy.
also if youre writing a book... dont use Dall E for the cover or illustrations please. Dall E isnt there yet.
put some effort into it and commission an artist to draw the cover. covers can be very important and if you look at the self published releases that are posted monthly on /r/fantasy youll see some amazing covers there.
During the zoom call they told we could edit and make it different enough then do whatever we want as long as we tell how Dall-E was used on it.
For printing, they said you could sell as it is, on t-shirts, book covers and so on.
Reason being that they haven't made the contract so we can own the original digital file yet.
They also asked to not remove the watermark at the bottom-right corner if using the original file
But, they also said they don't want people to make NFTs with it, being edited or not, well, at least not until they pass the ownership to the person that made the prompt.
I believe what they told me on the stream/call and I'll stand by that until they make a clear statement for everyone to see that changes that.
the thing is, "dall-e artist"s will become a thing and you can literally "draw with words". Some things people can already do when they know what to say is crazy. And at this point Dall-E cover can look as good as commissioned art. Often times better, miles better (at least compared to many of books from our local authors).
"put some effort into it and commission an artist".. isnt this effort too, tho? spending countless prompts and coming up with the perfect prompt that will produce the image you'd want?
This all sounds kinda like a pre-Dall-e talk to me, tbh. But, imo, "dall-e artists" is an inevitable outcome.
I have a question regarding the license: can I use DALLE-generated images as a reference that architects will use for making digital locations? In a commercial project.
Technically I can and no one will ever know that there were AI-generated references lol, but I think it's cool if I can publically say DALLE was used there.
they said if you edit it even a little bit, it is yours.
you can use it for textures for games/movies etc.
I'm checking my notes during the call and I see there was a mention of using it for books allowed.
One thing they cant do now is give you ownership of the Dall-E file. You can even sell the Dall-E art in a gallery, when printed on canvas or whatever. Thats clearly a commercial use.
Seems so far, that the "commercial use" is only about the file itself. Not the image as it is. If that makes sense.
not a dev, but I dont see why not. Its like looking at licensed picture during google search and getting inspired by them. You dont need to own that picture, or? I doubt it.
but what constitutes sufficient editing is very subjective.
and still, its experimental immature technology. i really wouldnt use it for commercial stuff.
but you guys do what you think is right.
Well, just removing the watermark doesn't seem sufficient 👀
It's pretty rare for a image to look perfect tho
Faces, depending on style looks messed up
i hope NFTs stay banned but thats just my personal opinion. with how the NFT market functions someone will inevitably illegally market Dall-E stuff as NFTs anyway
You do know that creating a NFT is not free, right? And it's not cheap as well
I mean, if people have to pay to generate the image, and pay to turn that into NFT, would that be really profitable?
Is this sufficient editing? Film texture, black border and my logo next to dall-e’s logo
yes
It’s not the OG file
from my understanding from the webinar, it is sufficient. even changing one pixel and exporting it out would mean it is your file now
That’s what I understood as well!!! Seems Natali has said some new things to the latest webinar meeting regarding copyrights than to those before us and that’s where the confusion stems from
Well, there's a possibility that they could add to Dall-E a match percentage identified, if that gets added, then they can make it tell you what's sufficient or not.
i think they must have said similar things, but its just about the understanding what "dall-e file is" is what is causing confusion
I’m happy to generate free, superb, out of this world content for now. I think commercial will come in 1-3 months so let’s take this time to figure out how the fuck art and art commerce is going to evolve and be amongst the first to ride the waves of AI art 🤟
And at this point Dall-E cover can look as good as commissioned art. Often times better, miles better (at least compared to many of books from our local authors).
Yeah no, this is just flat out wrong.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/vp2ose/self_published_fantasy_releases_july_2022 Take a look at some of the recently self published fantasy novels and youll see that for many of them their covers are very well made. as someone who has been using Dall E 2 for a while now to try and create good characters it is very much not there yet.
"put some effort into it and commission an artist".. isnt this effort too, tho?
a lot less effort than getting a professional to do it with worse results.
you as the author can do whatever you want but as a longtime member of the fantasy community i can assure you that Dall-Es book covers cannot yet compete with professionally made book covers.
But, imo, "dall-e artists" is an inevitable outcome.
i wouldnt say. for all we know this could be the limit of what the technology is capable of. or its just the beginning. who knows. i wouldnt say with certainty that dall e artists will become a thing or more importantly be able to substitute professional artists.
i think it comes down to "file vs art". the file itself is not allowed to be commercially used. Art is allowed. But as with the real artists, you have to give credit to the artist in a proper way
yes i absolutely believe so.
NFTs are a gamble, a nice image is not always the answer
Do you guys make money with NFTs? I get the hype, but I always thought its rich people buying it to launder money. I was shook to see ordinary people trying to flip NFTs for cash 😄 I been distancing myself from crypto, but seeing all the new platforms, collections, coins and what not makes me feel second hand embarrassment. Just my opinion tho
"Take a look at some of the recently self published fantasy novels and youll see that for many of them their covers are very well made. as someone who has been using Dall E 2 for a while now to try and create good characters it is very much not there yet."
yeah, well, that's those books. What if I want it to use for a philosophical book or something like that? Real cover for that can be real awful. Just take a look at the cover of "Brave New World" from our country. I still havent bought it cause I hate this cover so much, lmao..
https://mrtns.eu/tovar/_xl/241/xl241764.jpg?v=14654697901
It looks more like some autobiography about Huxley. I'd rather anything from Dall-E.
"a lot less effort than getting a professional to do it with worse results.
you as the author can do whatever you want but as a longtime member of the fantasy community i can assure you that Dall-Es book covers cannot yet compete with professionally made book covers."
depending on a budget you have. the commissioned work could look cheap as well.
well, for some reason you are focusing solely on fantasy book cover and nothing else. Ive tried some philosophical cover styles and it looks very interesting.. Ill post the pic below. And it is much better than whatever that Brave New World cover we have is.
"i wouldnt say. for all we know this could be the limit of what the technology is capable of. or its just the beginning. who knows. i wouldnt say with certainty that dall e artists will become a thing or more importantly be able to substitute professional artists."
it seems inevitable at this point. the technology is still improving and will get even better. Ive already seen "dall-e photographer" with some insane result. Yes, with PS being used to finish some stuff up, but Dalle isnt always supposed to be a one way stop. But a software in your creative process. (im gonna try to find the pic he did)
@tight pine here's the "book cover" example.
dont be focused on a pure fantasy book covers and seeing dall-e as incapable of doing book covers. that's just a limitation of seeing on what the book covers could be used. books have more than just "fantasy covers"
Can we talk about all of the disabled people who will have the opportunity to create art for the first time? I think that’s beautiful.
also you can use Dall-E image as a foundation for your artwork upon which you will improve what you want.
why the padding only work if i write a promt? and not like the bot says
@tight pine
here's the article with the picture the photographer created
https://petapixel.com/2022/07/01/photographers-should-own-the-copyright-to-their-ai-generated-photos/
if you spend the work and hours on your picture it definitely can look good and take as much time as a "real commissioned work".
it kinda sounds like a boomer talk (without offense) that the new technology wont be, or cant be, used for covers or somerthing
personal opinion: NFTs and much of crypto are technology that destroys the planet to give solutions to problems that dont exist or have already been fixed in a much better way. furthermore the NFT and crypto community and market is full of scammers and people that steal art. there have been multiple posts already about rugpulls happening where people lost everything.
Guys, shouldn't this conversation be moved to other channel?
Or create a thread or something
this is question not general chatter!!!
I’m still on the fence about NFTs. I think blockchain tech is promising but the vibe around crypto in general right now just feels so scammy 🤣
I feel much more excited about AI tho I’m also nervous it’ll take my job as an artist someday haha. But I enjoy using it and it means a lot to me that OpenAI team takes AI risk mitigation seriously. I know this is powerful tech and I want it to be wielded responsibly
Sorry, just noticed this is the wrong channel for this 😅
I don't see any problems with NFT, I mean, if there's people buying it, that's their problem.
You can't really think that every single person creating NFTs will suddently go rich. Money comes from somewhere, you can't really make everyone rich, so it's a gamble, just like we see tons of really creative people making incredible stuff that never get the attention they deserved.
Money laundry with NTFs sound far fetch, crypto transactions has fees and there's always the possibility of devaluing, I don't think mobs would be buying some dumb monkey drawings for this.
I know artists that create impressive paintings and can barely live with that, if people with money are interesting of owning a digital file these days, so be it.
I would recommend artists to also join the NFT train if they want to bring more attention to their art.
The thing that people love about art is not randomness, it's consistency, and no AI can consistently make a style of anything. You may ask for a painting of a black cat and get cartoonish results, a orange cat and get realistic results.
Sure Dall-E can create stuff that looks nice, but doesn't mean that it alone make you an artist
I guess creating good prompts can become a kind of art by itself, but you can't beat an artist with their own distinct characteristics.
Even In-Painting is not perfect
Got this, wanted the left cat to be fully black
It got smaller in the process and lost the expression that made me like the drawing
not what I expected, but results are beautiful! 😅
Keep reconfiguring your prompt structure and have in mind you have to be specific, and even then it’s no guarantee
how do you write the prompt to get these combos?
do you write just in beebear?
joke aside im curious how to prompt a hybrid animal
Hi! These was not made by me, check @dailydall.e on Instagram.
#community-help message
thanks
hey! how can new dalle users access the discord? my friend (eduardcn#2498) just got access but I cannot invite him. thx!!!
He should have received an email with it
Just stumbled upon this. 🤔
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/us-copyright-office-rules-ai-art-cant-be-copyrighted-180979808/#:~:text=The U.S. Copyright Office (USCO,ruling%2C%20which%20found%20his%20A.I.
Very interesting, but it's March 24! Do you think there have been any key developments since then?
Yes. Just last month. He wants the copyright. https://www.ipwatchdog.com/2022/06/06/thaler-pursues-copyright-challenge-denial-ai-generated-work-registration/id=149463/#
So interesting. Do you see OpenAI pushing for this?
As in becoming vocal the same way this guy Thaler is?
We'll have to see about that with the updated policy & terms before public release.
are we limited to just square aspect ratio?
Yes, but you can do some tricks to expand the images
just found this 🙂 nvm
For example, open on a image editing software, move half of the image outside the visible area, save a new file, upload it, select Edit, paint the blank area, describe the picture
Then you'll need to combine the two to get a larger image
ah that's helpful, thank you!
They call this Outpainting
@verbal crag @wheat zodiac Fascinating! Copyright law definitely needs to be updated to account for AI creative tools.
Here's the artist's post on Instagram for the Bumblebear
Meet my latest character… 𝗕𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗿! Raised on his own in the misty forest, this cute & cuddly bear thinks he’s a honey bee for obvious reasons… now if only he can find the honey pot! 🐝
.
DM me if you’d like to know the Dall•E prompts!
.
This was also an amazing exercise in utilizing Dall•E to generate images around a single character based upo...

Hey everyone, I reached my 50 requests for the day!
Is there a paid service to have more requests? or just beta for now?
just a beta!
and welcome
haha i keep on hitting the limit still too 🥴 been here almost a month
what kind of things are you creating?
hahahaha I am on my 7th day and it was only today I didn't immediately generate stuff once I had the chance 😄 its definitely mind blowing
didnt work
tried 🧐 , 🧐 digital art
among significantly more complicated prompts as well
Does the limit not always restart to 50 again? Earlier it said to wait 30 minutes, then I could only do one generation and then it said this
I think the timer is per prompt.
Oh so the 23.5 applies to each of the 50?
Yup, I think each prompt has its own timer. At least that is what has been said in other threads, as I understand it. Someone else may have more clear information.
Then guess I’ll wait much longer since I like doing a lot at a time haha
haha i burned mine up within 2 hours on the first 3 days of access, now im trying to at least have 2 prompts an hour to use at all times
I just got Dall-e on Friday before the weekend so I’ve definitely been spending mine up way too fast 😂
You'd get addicted for the first few days! The timer helps managing it. Lol
How can I view ALL of my historic generations?
btw, Natalie mentioned something about a possibility of someone's prompt generated image being shown on their instagram, iirc. Is there a way how to get there? just posting pics here or you should post the pic on your instagram and tag the OpenAI's account?
Browser history.
On the website, you can scroll to the bottom, there's a button that leads to a form.
you mean this?
You scrolled too far 😁 it's below the example images.
It's on labs.openai.com
Yes
what happens if I click, "Publish" when I generate the image
does it get submitted?
It creates a public link for you to share.
I don't think so.. but I'm not sure about that.
only that then? okay.. so I have to manually submit generation through this if I wanna get a chance to be featured then
thanks 🙂
hey guys, which Tag should we use on instagram? I've seen it somewhere, but cant recall where .. something like #dalle or #dalle2 ?
Hi, i was thinking to try the prompt "it's raining man" like the song. Do you think it could be flagged? this prompt without style could generate something absurd or something gory, that could be flagged
I can't see any reason for this to be flagged lol
Nope, I’ve done some raining men with no problem
perfect, thanks
I'd use both #dalle and #dalle2, you could also throw in #aiart and other more general tags for wider reach
The website tells you to use #dalle though, if that's what you're asking
yes, thank you. I've used dalle and dalle2 but was not sure which one they wanted. Im gonna add aiart cuase it sounds realaly interesting, thanks! 🙂
Idk how to evaluate this...
Input phrase was
An article explaining about the advancements in Dalle 69
Trying to tell us that in 2069 Humans have merely become nothing but food and energy source for the AI overlords 👹🤖
This sparked some curiosity.
As to what dalle2 would think future to look like
What is the optimal pixel size to upload an image as input?
1024x1024 i guess
It's just #dalle (it comes up when you choose 'share' and copy the link)
I wish it would automatically copy taht link
I just reached 1000 images in my collection, it says that's the maximum, is there any way to take things out of my collection?
Yeah, three dot dropdown on the image pop-up
darn that will take a while. i wish i could keep everything!!! ugh i am obsessed
ah, exactly! Thanks! 😄 I was checking the e-mails, website all around and couldnt find it, ah.. 😄 thanks
thank you also...
Does anyone remember the person - or indeed, are YOU the person - who used DALL-E to generate assets for a kind of AR (Instagram filter?) experience? It was black-and-white-and-doodley and I think it was shared on the OpenAI Instagram story.
When can we pay for more access lol
I use Image Assistant to bulk download and store locally -- they support curl or just using the UI (just make sure to follow the directions to turn off "ask where to download" if you want to pull a lot at once) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/imageassistant-batch-imag/dbjbempljhcmhlfpfacalomonjpalpko?hl=en
does OpenAI/Dall-E support ever work?
it's been a week since i dropped them a question on chat, and later over email.
the chat messages are marked as "Not seen" after a week.
any idea if there's a place one can turn for support?
I've seen the help pages and the community support pages, but I'm curious about support from OpenAI directly.
Ive reached 1k collection size and its saying i cant add any more
I believe the OpenAI team are on a break until mid July
Same! I have been trying to email them as I can't log in but no reply.
i think they're on vacation!
"support@ is stretched super thin in general (we're working on expanding), and most of our team is on vacation until 7/11"
They're a small team but working on expanding after the 11th
remove some and see if it works?
i'm trying to replace this house with a house designed by another architect, but in painting is not working , anyone have any ideas?
the results so far are ehh
thank you :)
I'm having this issue, anyone else?
Each prompt renews 23.5 hours after use so prompts can be staggered depending what time you use them.
Yeah each individual prompt is on it's own timer
If you want to use them all at once, you need to wait a full 23.5 hours not using any for them all to time out
Would be really handy if they showed the timers somewhere...
Is the word "hell" not allowed to use?
Nope
Removing works
But i don’t want to remove 🙂
i’ve been saving everything in a cloud folder
I wonder why I got a content policy warning for "a hell themed Wheel of fortune"
Because of Hell 😁
Okay, will be even more careful in future 😅
Truly a pity! I love Hell imagery
maybe use fire and describe how big it is and where it is
is pepe the frog banned? i got a warning with the prompt "renaisance oil painting of pepe the frog"
Does Dall-E care about letter case in prompts?
Can we use a DALLE generated image as an album cover with watermark?
yeah unfortunately it seems to be
Still a grey area for that one. I'd wait until DALL-E 2 goes public for the updated terms & policy.
Thanks! I like how you added the DALLE watermark on your pfp :D
You can make yours too. Head to #dall-e-bot and type "! watermark" without spaces and quotes.
Oh wow lemme try!
I’m two hours way from a prompt reset, but has anyone tried to see if you can put a house on a photo of an empty plot of land?
it would be cool to take pics of a house or lot and create different architecture ideas
I tried with an image last night and didn’t really work that well, but maybe my inpainting technique wasn’t good enough
ive tried many realism
its not easy to get it right
a soup of styles in a specific order might do the trick
but you'll have to spend prompts to test it
yeah i think the realismo throws it off , but even then, could it turn it into an illustration instead while keeping the photo layout in tact?
this is what i did last night
im like half
wow
u just opened up a whole new niche
for Architectural design
consider me amazed
haha yeah im big on reality manipulation
but the thing is , i might have to change the style of the way the photo is taken by adding like “unreal engine” or something
i actually haven’t tried to see if i can turn a regular photo of a house into a illustration. maybe that’s the order i need to do it in. convert to illlustration in a style i want, then do inpainting to get the specific location of the house
ya know i think what you do is a combination of Augmented Reality
thats pretty cool 😄
its def a form of
i think this might be a very useful application
just imagine, a client asking how his house would look like if ...
and all u do is erase the visual parts, ask dall-e
voila
haha yeah i’m an AR designer at snap and meta
doing freelance
but yeah i think this could really change on different variations of real life!
for me i had also proposed usage for dall-e in medical/psychiatry
instead of depending on content from the database
i explain to them that, unfortunate ppl that had accidents or born in a way that expressing is made impossible
and dall-e would be THE way to allow them to do that again
yeah that would be amazing!!
coz these ppl would be bored as hell, imagine having no ability to express urself?
id be very upset
for me dalle eliminates the actual labor and time of creating and gives more time to be creative
time is money
lmfao facts
if they would set dall-e to full potential, that be scary
i know coz Codex is the same way
let me show ya
ive got access as well to the other labs/test facilities of their
s
alright, give me 3 random names/objects/places
just anything
@sacred cave
sorry just had to drive, Kirby , Zach, Phil - Stapler, Bug Spray, Satellite - Rockaway Beach, Duomo Milan, London Tower
no biggie 😉
setting it up, gimme a sec
@sacred cave
so my point in here is, "it" wants to keep going...forever
so these networks must be kept in a "balancer"
u can see even if i instructed to "max 120" it still wanted to continue
but it does a good job 🙂
i sometimes use Codex to give Dall-e idea's
Davinci is one hell of a powerful AI designed for textual tasks
the applications keep on going...and going
one after another they invent usages for these networks
is crazy
its just doesnt stop
ppl are so creative
i can play with this, all day, every day. no questions asked lol
and i think everyone feels the same hehehe
Oh yeah i just realized i got access to Codex too a while ago lmao
hehe
@left sky As per their email last June 22, yes, I'm sure.
Yeah that was exactly what I was referring to, I've read that content policy and it says you cannot upload realistic faces and share them :c
"upload" — pertaining to the uploading of images to be used in the Edit & Variations feature of DALL•E
oh that's great! thanks!! I probably got confused with what they said in the conference ^^"
Is there any button to delete all of my collection?
Is OpenAi website working? I can't login
Yeah I worked around with "fire and lava themed..."
Not at the moment
Yes
this .... ffs lol
1k limit
i was over that in no time
🤔 well...
i figured i used DeviantArt as archive, but for the love of god, DeviantArt as 0 batch upload features
sucks
one by one ...same goes for tags
all manually
thats a hard no
Woah... I can log in to DALLE right now in and even though my reset time is 17:25 MDT, i was able to generate animate (albeit one of their "surprise me" ones, so maybe those are free?)
Tried my own prompt and it worked too... maybe the lockout timer is broken 🙂
hmm
I'm sure I'll be locked out until tomorrow at this time, but it sure beats having to wait until 5:00 PM
Ah, pooh. I must've had some prompts left over that I had forgot about... got to do about ten and now I have to wait for four more hours 🙂
does someone know why when I try to enter labs.openai.com from my phone browser it just shows a blank page?
I have no way to use dalle from my phone ):
try clearing your cookies, that works for me whenever it happens
What browser / OS? I turned it into a home screen web app with chrome / android and it works really well, just need to close and restart it occasionally
I tried with chrome and brave now, using Android, I also made the home screen thing but it sends me to the same blank page
As @rough tundra said clear your cookies (and maybe your cache), restart your phone, and if none of that works I'm outta ideas 😅
I tried factory resetting my phone a while ago to fix something else, and that didn't fix this issue
I guess I just won't be able to use it from my phone at all
I tried using Firefox now and same thing
I also tried using the desktop site thing but again, same thing
Very weird - sorry!
Given how all these have pretty much the exact same faces, pose and devices, does it feel to you like it might be breaking some IP of whatever the source is for these ones at this point?
Interesting that this prompt had no real difference in variations for the camera and faces of this
“High speed food photography of mascots with suits”
Ran it again to make sure it wasn’t a one-off
Yeah. I've had similar issues with niche prompts that seemed to be replicating a specific image.
How does Dall-e think or imagine?
I still don't understand.
Summarize this for a second-grade student:
A high-level overview of unCLIP. Above the dotted line, we depict the CLIP training process, through which we learn a joint representation space for text and images. Below the dotted line, we depict our text-to-image generation process: a CLIP text embedding is first fed to an autoregressive or diffusion prior to produce an image embedding, and then this embedding is used to condition a diffusion decoder which produces a final image. Note that the CLIP model is frozen during training of the prior and decoder.
UnCLIP is a model that is trained to learn a joint representation space for text and images. This means that when given a text description, the model should be able to generate an image that corresponds to that text. The model is made up of two parts: a CLIP text embedding, which is a text representation that is fed into an autoregressive or diffusion prior, and a diffusion decoder, which is an image representation that is used to produce a final image.
is the generated image Dall-e's imagination?
It's not really imagination as you or I have it. It's more like trial and error: it's trained to connect language to images, and using massive graphical processing power it works with a baseline of regressed noise to generate something like what the words provided should look like. I'm no AI expert though so hopefully someone can correct me / explain better.
does anyone know if it's fine by OpenAI to use a pseudonym instead of real name during sign up?
It bugs on my laptop as well, if I use Safari I can’t use the dalle website, only works on Brave Browser (for me)
AI does not think or imagine, it plots input to a curve. The curve has far more than 3 dimensions. The more you train the model, the better it is at plotting inputs along that curve.
There's probably better ways of explaining it without using calculus
What are some good 'aesthetics' or art movements that apply to multiple kinds of subject?
i.e: that have analogs across paintings, physical media, architecture, product design, materials, lighting...
A few I can think of:
- Art deco
- Gothic
- Vaporwave
- Memphis
😛
https://www.creativebloq.com/inspiration/10-iconic-examples-of-memphis-design '80s swirling shapes'
owww is that how they call it ?
i was under impression this was a twist on the Pop-art style,
yeah i only discovered it had a 'name' at an exhibition a few years ago, before that I just thought it was like... 'the late 80s early 90s, put a zig zag on it'
i see, thanks for that
well since u gave me a good style 😄 ill give u one i recently found out that Carbon fiber gives quite the results
Is there a way to see how many prompts you have left?
Which is the best site to upload all of my generations of Dall-E 2? With albums and all
ehm
i thought DeviantArt.com but their uploading system is rather.... slow
@craggy haven
but its nice too
DeviantArt fans rly enjoy dall-e lately
they prob seen the wave incoming thru their channels
and i got a lot of question they had, they are very interested
so thats good
they have yet to make a niche for it tho 😛
or group
I was trying to upload them to imgur, but the app in the phone dont work at all, i cant see the images i upload there
i will try deviant art so, thanks :)
also how i can find you in deviant art? @subtle ingot
Yes, is hard to find a style
I liked my robot capys and elephants, but i do some horses and cows that dont viewed at great as the capys and elephants
u can use my prompts as base lad
we share 😄
tried everything but couldn't find a solution, it might be my android version or something idk
Oh my goshhhhhh the furry robots!
lol
So we are allowed to make prints and sell those? I know for sure we aren't allowed to sell the digital files.
wait till u see my fluffed up ones 😛
no commercial use at the moment
But they said on the Zoom call that we could sell it if printed or edited, just not the original file or NFTs...
Reason being that they don't have the paperwork just yet to transfer the rights of the original generated image to us
It seems different information was given informally to those in the artist program with onboarding than those of us who were just given beta access directly. The official T&C information prohibits commercial use - if you want clarification you'll have to contact whoever it was who spoke to you about this.
Has anyone tried generating font images / trying to get any stylistic text? I'm aware that DALLE struggles with it but thought I'd see how badly it struggles 🤣
Check #daily-theme: #daily-theme message
Cesar, on the call they used the term 'transformative use' so, if you create a painting based on a DALL-E image or something like that, it's OK - probably just 'printing it out' doesn't count... I agree more clarity is needed
So are we allowed to publicly share realistic face generations or not? Still confused
i did ye, it is sorta hard, but best is to use upload to apply a certain way
tried to depict textual fonts with "Life"
and decoration, its somewhat ..ok ?!
dall-e is really eager to fill in empty spots, like almost as if its a mission XD
but nice is ... different
but dalle has other things she excels in, i mean i tried marble busts yesterday.... wow
that shit was so good
dalle even filled in the reflection in the base plate
thats neat
if someone told me "thats a blender render" i'd believed them
Thanks so much for the insight!
Marble's so interesting, I tried "marble sculptures of flames, in an artist's studio" a while back!
u can basically marbilize (just made that made up lol) any ...thing
but also works very very well, clouds, glass
with+
glass also works wonderfully well
That refraction is amazing!
What was the prompt?
she's aware of raycasting as well matter fact some researchers use AI as render engine (if u see that stuff, u prolly just get quite how good that is)
let me get u the prompt
Cheers :)
Glass poison pot, <prompt of liquid or contents inside the pot>, Center View, Studio Lighting, Realistic
@brave cypress
u follow the prompt? the < and > u gotta replace with something u want
Ooh that's officially on my list of things to explore
u can also remove the "poison" part
that came from the original person who made the one i saw first
u can even add Museum Showcase that one actually defines usually a nice glare and case
That's perfect! Thanks for the link
this is with the museum tag
drastic change but nice
also works with Condensed water
bubbles
foam
beer XD
soda's
Gosh I'm constantly in awe of this tech
or ya know fantasy liquids
hehe well be welcome to the realm my friend 😄
AI realm
is not for everyone
most dont even know what to do with it
Have you tried playing with liquid transitions from one thing to another? I got this by accident and it's next on my list:
ehm good question
i havn't
but now u mentioned it ..
i will
i also noticed dall-e is incredible good in making fantasy creatures
like no other
even Designers go "ay ..u cheating?"
i shit u not
We should probably move thread 🤣
They literally told "you can print on a shirt or banner and sell it", I see that I should have recorded the call 🙄
I'm not telling what I've interpreted but exactly their words.
+1 for this, I remember this call (I’m not sure we were on the same one), but as I said before, NFTs are not my cup of tea, I’m interested in physical art and I made sure to ask multiple times!
She (Natalie) said the digital file we download from OpenAI is prohibited from being sold or shared to anyone.
But again, they may have said one thing two weeks ago which isn’t in alignment with their plans anymore, so truly the best option for us is to wait it out and anticipate an official statement from the OpenAI team soon!
well if thats the case, then sure. but before i personally wouldnt go any further i need to be 100% sure, ideally on black and white.
not eager to get sued XD
Can results be fed into a third party AI to make derivatives? And if so, could the results from that be sold as prints?
ehm ...
i find this hard to get right, coz there are some hooks and eyes on that
ur lucky one of the Dalle crew is here
u can ask urself
do we have some update regarding the credit system
@long lily @naive moth have patience, they are busy on it.
What is that of credit system?
prob similar in design
if not that slightly the same
😂
is what im thinking
i meant the coming ability to buy additional prompts.
ohh i understand
and the people that actually have access to the AI would have to pay to use Dall-e 2 after the commercial launch?
dunnow yet,
well i know as much as you do is as what im saying
😂 in that regard
@craggy haven
good scenario for user experience would be the continue of free 50 prompts per day with option to buy additional credits
i would like that scenario too
i feel like that falls in their IMO ... sort of ..
like i dont know, but it would be a thing fitting in their style
on days when I dalle used and experimented in a more spontaneous way: i had the feeling that towards the end of my credit, around 40, just before 50 attempts i had found a good basis, be it newly found prompts/themes /the point of refining prompts to reach the satisfying point or in a good case a number of samples I would like to develop further then. that would be quite possible with the upcoming credit system-if you are in the flow of the idea/the process you could continue seamlessly--for example:new ideas or an different view of the started sketch overran me a few times in the course of the reload phase, which was a good 22 hours on average (I constantly work it through)
Here I come again with upload questions. What kind of uploaded image could be considered fair use? I know that the last answer was that it will depend a lot on my use for the image, however, for now we have no commercial use for any of the images, just using them for variations or making edits to portions of the images, and who gets to use the actual uploaded images on training and stuff is Openai, so this is more on their side.
i think the limiting wasnt just only to reduce server load, i think there is such a thing as being oversaturated with thinking too much of fantasizing
i like to believe u can do things "too" much and become the opposite temporary...
so the limit feels stern but fair.
i would have peace with such an agreement 😛
@long lily
judging by how openai works on other things, I would say don't expect any free gens aside from each user having a once per lifetime free X
that could also be, yeah
but speculating wont make us feel better 😛
lets talk about it when it actually is.
Does anyone have any clarity on the policy around derivatives or transformative art based on a "generation"? I know that the actual file can't be used for commercial purposes, but what about art made with the generation as the inspiration or as a part of the process?
Hasnt been stated
Is there anywhere I can read about forthcoming plans to release DALL-E as an API? (esp. around early betas to help testing with safety etc) I've got a couple prototypes I'd love to build
Is OpenAI back from holidays? The support team are still not responding to emails.
thats not going to happen. barely anyone will buy prompts then. 50 are enough for most people.
they will most likely not give any free prompts to anyone at all or if they do its either a very small number per day/month or a one time thing like with the free credits for gpt3
Why is craiyon better at pop culture stuff? Dalle clearly understands certain stuff such as characters are supposed to look a certain way but it's still way different, while craiyon seems to get it right pretty much every time
dunno but i know what you mean.
search for "ahsoka" in the search bar
Yeah, i used to think it was a copyright thing but it understands Darth Vader, Yoda, Mario, and the Simpsons
@proud osprey found it.
it has a consistent design for ahsoka that is reminiscent of her but not the same
It all comes down to differences in the training data I would speculate. Craiyon’s was probably was less selective than openAI. I bet they love answering questions about other models lol
definitly 😄 #weird-gens-and-misfires message
One of my friends just got the invite he cannot find where to join the discord and I cannot remember where the link was, is it thru the site or email ?
Is soviet filtered again?
Has anyone figured out a way to so a series of "de-cropped" images, while maintaining the style and level of detail of the original? Here's the first image I generated compared to the fourth in the series. I've tried tweaking the prompt with words like "very detailed", but it always seems to diverge and get more abstract with each generation.
Try soviet-style or soviet-era!
Well, the only possible way would be if instead of zooming out, you just move the image and leave a blank space on one of the sides
Cause when you zoom it out, it's natural that brush strokes will get smaller until you can't see it
Sorry I meant that the detail of the new inpainted region is substantially less than the original portion (even when scaled down), eventually trending towards very simple abstract shapes. Have noticed this problem when extended horizontally as well. It makes sense given that each iteration is more likely to have less detail than more.. just curious if anyone has found a trick to maintain detail.
I would say it's being lazy with the expansion because it already sees detail it likes in the centre of the frame. You could counter it by being very explicit with describing things in the framing area, or forcing it to add new detail by being dissonant with what already exists
Dudes, I got another invitation in another email. Do you guys think I can give the invitation to another person or would that break rules?
I'm waiting for Joanne to reply my pm about this issue
But in the meantime maybe it happened to another person and it already got answered!
||Yes, I submitted two emails. Long story short, one was personal, one was casual, and one had more social media links than the other||
is there a list somewhere of all the words that break the content policy?
No. (officially)
excellent
Creating one would be a bad idea IMHO. Might give people the incentive to weave around the policy.
Thus my comment.
i also got two invite emails. Joanne told me that its no big deal but you obviously should not use the other access, be it for yourself or someone else.
just let the other invite email rot
That's sad
Hi everybody! Are we allowed to publicly post photo-realistic faces of NON-existent people fully generated by DALL E, without any input image? Sometimes I spot them on the web... 🤔
without any input image
What do you mean by this?
I mean, WITHOUT uploading a source image, e.g. a selfie or any real person picture
Yes. As long as you mention that the image is made by an AI.
Thanks! 🙂
done that from day 1, always placed a reference of "Made with ..."
im not foolling anyone XD
I never posted online my pics, so I was double checking 🙂
well u dont have to anything with them perse
Also, I was planning to label "Made with" but still I wondered if that kind of content was ok
Is it just my internet or is dalle taking longer to generate stuff
It's because of this https://twitter.com/sama/status/1547212678644371457?s=20&t=gYB78yAx9sKbGxkBWXXUOTr3ibBoHUYA0rNy9y_ozp8
we have now given dall-e 2 access to 100,000 users. next goal: 1 million.
our team worked incredibly hard to make this happen; thank you!
849
is anone else struggling to upload images rn?? im trying to inpaint on a previously generated image to try make an animation, but i can click the upload button. its been an hour of me refreshing the page 😦
oh this might be the problem🫤
@neat bridge I know you’ve declared discord bankruptcy so just wanted to flag this in case you missed them, there are some questions in the back scroll around what are the commercial usage rights on dalle generations. In particular, people seem to have gotten different advice (using the digital file “as is” as a (say) nft is obviously bad, printing the digital file “as is” on paper or a tshirt some people were told is fine). Some clarification around that would be nice when you have a second! ❤️
(And also how much manual editing you need to do to a generation to stop being dalle’s and start being “yours”, which is an existential question I struggle with daily)
To add, it is also conflicting with the terms of use.
Some clarification would indeed be nice.
Thanks for the tip!
Hey guys, the OpenAI just returned from vacation and we are seeing a big influx of new people. I think this isn't an accident and we must be getting some news regarding copyrights soon 🔮 ✨ patience is key
Here's why...
we have now given dall-e 2 access to 100,000 users. next goal: 1 million.
our team worked incredibly hard to make this happen; thank you!
1786
Yes, this is the situation I’m referring to 😇
I am seeing discussions on various unofficial groups from some people mentioning that prompts they were getting realistic faces from are now returning worse results than before. Is this indicative of some behind the scenes changes corresponding to the ongoing opening up to increasingly larger amount of users? (Or just unfounded speculation on my part?)
check out #bugs-and-issues, we're trying to understand the same thing
Looks fine to me
There's always the risk of psyching yourself out with DALL·E because results can vary so wildly. The idea that something changed to make it "worse" seems to also arise alongside an influx of new users
I personally haven’t been generating much images of late so I can’t say I noticed this myself, just curious about what other folks are saying, I agree it’s easy to psych yourself out. But yeah the convo going on in the bugs channel is interesting. I have faith in the openAI Team! 🥰
Does anyone notice a drop-off in image quality after a number of generations? In prompts I've run multiple times, I notice the resultant images become more and more washed out and less well-defined than in my earlier generations.
Who knows why "art by Philippe Caza" is blocked?
Blocked with a warning or just not giving expected results?
Probably because of his work? ||https://scifinet.net/philippe-caza/|| (<- NSFW link)
Warning .
Yeah it's because of his sexually explicit art style
Frazetta , Boris Vallejo, Rubens, Beksinski, Moebius and Giger also have wotks with nudity but are OK
Probably slipped pass the filter.
It's likely that whatever source DALL·E used ONLY had sexually explicit Caza imagery
It's a pity
I guess. His work is cool but pretty plainly not within the G-rated remit of DALL·E
It's fun that some people think that Cazo is NSFW. Have they ever be in art museum?)
Frankly speaking never thaught that he has so many nudity. I always show his works to students
I count ten for the first page in the link I sent.
Also, it's the AI that portrays Cazo as NSFW. Not some people.
https://youtu.be/rn-0bmGbris Stumbled upon this video and was wondering if the inability to use celebrity likeness has loosened up? I got flagged for attempting a watercolor of one a while back, so I’m not sure if it’s opened up or if the people they used in the video just slipped through the cracks. I’m a little out of the loop on everything but I try my best to stay up to date
DALL-E 2 is an A.I. that can generate an image from anything you type. Grant fed it phrases involving rappers, showed us the images it made & we tried to guess what he typed.
guess along with us and share your fears about artificial intelligence in the comment section!
HIVEMIND x COPES MERCH DROP: https://www.copes.shop/collections/hivemind
...
not even AI itself could answer that
lol
you arent supposed to, some just slipped through
I dont think it BLOCKS creations of celebs in nonrealistic mediums most of the time
but you still arent supposed to make them
though, this could be interpreted in such a way that you can
also it might have been made before that rule took into effect (june 22nd), but uploaded most recently
also also love that channel!
A friend asked me to do a kawaii version of Lenin, are cartoon of that type of political figures prohibited or baneable?
I think historical figures are ok
Is it possible to flag a warning as incorrect??
that is weird, might be due to not a word but symbol or illegal char
i have the feeling they also do a "injection exploit" prevention
%20 is often used in this process
it signifies a space
(encoding)
but u can always ask in Bugs XD
Didn’t they have a random 20% bug recently? Maybe they applied a quick fix and flagged everything 20% related?
I think it's a bug I generated other 20 percent stuff fine
"two hamsters. one of them is 20% smaller than the other."
Is it possible to share my entire collection with someone? It would be awesome if we could have a permanent link to our collections. Also is there any way to download everything in our collections as a zip file? That would also be a great feature.
use DevaintArt.com
sorta easier..but not the best solution
@neat bridge I have a bit of a fringe question, but I was wondering - Will there ever be a time that "generations made but not saved to you collection" will be wiped? I started saving a bunch of my generations to bookmarks so I could retrieve them when I had hit the previous 1000 limit in my collection. I hope I asked my question in the right way...
We don't currently have any plans to wipe them, but we probs can't commit to those images existing forever!
I'm curious: is there a reason why you bookmarked them instead of downloading them / saving them into a cloud folder?
Sure, well, I hit my 1000 limit is the practical reason I started, and now it's more of a reflex to bookmark the generation page. And I do save "my favourites" by downloading them sometimes, but only my "absolute favorites" or ones I think will be useful as reference in my active projects, or ones I want to share with friends or online.
But the utility of saving them "in dalle" is actually for ease of "using them later for edit/variations" rather than re-uploading them. I also generate so many, often hitting my daily limit, that dalle just kind of keeps them much more organised that I do in a big folder. Maybe I could be better at self organisation, to be fair.
Also, thanks for the answer. That makes total sense, I wouldn't really expect you to have been saving them this long actually. I thought initially you'd wipe non-saved generations with the 24 hour reset tbh. Glad you don't though, for now, heh
But the utility of saving them "in dalle" is actually for ease of "using them later for edit/variations" rather than re-uploading them
This was my hypothesis, but wanted to confirm that -- thank you!
@sullen sierra (and others feel free to chime in!) can you tell me more about how you navigate your giant collection and why? are you often searching for a very specific image with a caption in mind? or is it to browse + admire?
I like how the collection looks with all my best works together, I think it'd be cool if there were like custom scrapbooks we could fill with groups of our images together. also feel like the 3 wide collection can be slow to scroll down to find stuff
I have found what I call "sweet spots" where Dalle generates things that just inspire me. Endlessly. For example, Lord of the Rings locations, or "Fantasy Cities" or "Space Ships" or visualising images from my personal writing. So, my giant collection is compartmentalised in my mind into "work and play" and subgroups - practically, I save images because I can see them informing/inspiring a piece of writing, or a piece of art I want to make, or they're just plain reference.
Or, following advice from my art teacher in high school "never screw up a piece of paper and throw it away if you don't like the drawing, you never know how you'll see it again tomorrow" and I feel the same with Dalle. I often go in with an idea, or a goal of what I want Dalle to show me, and often I get that, but then also five incredible other images... So... I like to save them so I can look at them another day when I'm not looking for something specific and see what that sparks, or what that inspires.
At the moment, I navigate by key word, or by artist, or by whatever the "Sweet Spot" is (Fantasy City, Cats with Hats [thats not one but it could be, you understand haha]) I tend to accrue "collections" almost exclusively and there are often very few "one offs" for me. I guess practically I "save" an image to my Dalle collection if I would be mortified to ever lose that image and forget some nuance, or some idea that it gave me when I first looked at it, it's really quite personal. I do the same with real-life things, books, art books, music, images, too, really.
super interesting, thank you both!
@sullen sierra if every single image you've ever generated were saved by default, how would that affect what you save?
I would save
"ones that blow my mind right out of my skull and into the stratosphere" and
"ones that I will definitely refer to in my art or writing or work in some way" and
"ones I really have to show my friends/partner" and
"ones to share on the internet because they're cool and would make a great collection" and
"if i lost this image I would never forgive myself because it's too special and the future generations must know of this" and... I think that's it.
do you currently use bookmark folders to keep track of those separately?
I dont, I save them in a "dalle" bookmark folder and either name the bookmark the entire prompt I used, or, for ones that align more with my above criteria will name the bookmarked page single words "spaceship" "rivendell" "landscapes" "mountains" etc -
I have a lot of methodology to my dalle use so if I'm looking for something I can find it by mentioning an artist I used since "they do this sort of thing really well" or a style "art deco"
It's a bit like my own personal google search, when I search the dalle folder for "art deco" i get all my never before seen art deco attempts. they're not individualised per image, just per six generation pages, by the way. I save the six generations, not individual images to my bookmarks folder.
super helpful -- thank you!!
no worries, any time, thank you!
in case it's not obvious why i'm asking, i've been thinking a lot about image organization / showcase features.
we've had pinterest-style multiple collections in mind for a while, but i've learned that a lot of users have been using collections more so to not lose any image they find remotely interesting (vs. saving images they love). and if the former is a bigger problem than the latter, we should probably prioritize saving every image by default and build some sort of search capability; if curating + grouping favorite images is the bigger need, we'd prioritize multiple collections.
what's a bigger problem for you?
I do find myself saving images that I wouldn't consider "share-worthy" but interesting, so I think that is the bigger problem, but I'd also like curating features, although that can probably be done after as you can just sort all the images you've already saved. For me I think the ideal layout would be a tab with all past images generated, a main collection tab with saved images, and subcollections for images you want to put together. I'd also like to be able to give links to subcollections to people so I don't have to send a bunch of screenshots, and public/private options. Also options to better display a collection than just a 3 wide column, maybe like a scrapbook with pages. Also I think a search feature would probably be higher up on my wants than most of that - I'm at around 100 saved generations and scrolling is kinda slow for me, so a search would be great. Not trying to be too demanding, just giving my thoughts 😅
I think that's bang on: a search function would be fantastic. Then there wouldn't really need to be anything higher than a "personal collection" for whatever reason that people want to save images. I think dalle is so fascinating that everything feels novel, so there is a lot of saving going on. I mean, I think that is a great special thing though, dalle is likely not going to get 'less novel' in its results, we'll just get more used to it being incredible...
Anyway, I think it also matters if you are interested in fostering some kind of "Pintrest" type of platform. Do you want people to curate outward facing collections? like a profile page? If so, then make personal collections public and "re-organisable" and let people save other peoples work to a "community saves" and that's that. Have them all be searchable by keywords that people used...
A search function paired with "everything youve ever generated is saved" paired with "every image that has ever been generated by dalle searchble by used keyword" would be pretty neat!
Very tangentially I often wonder if you could expose the, probably incredibly large "verb cloud" that resulted in dalles generation. So... I asked for "A cat on a boat that looks like van gogh in a fantasy city make of cucumbers" but I sometimes wonder "what are the other words here that dalle drew from to give me this image?" - i think this is a pretty tangential and irrelevant question tbh... I just wonder sometimes when I get something that is nothing like what I asked for, or, I get something that I want to understand "why is this element so much /better/ that the other five" I want to know what part of my prompt did dalle draw from to get "those specific towers" or "that level of fidelity" .... probably impossible though.
Also i think a way to select multiple images at the same time for downloading or deleting them (or anything) would be useful
I export my Firefox history via Windows utility to Excel, and then I can see the URL, date created, title, last visit, etc.
I'm nodding, impressed and sagely. haha.
It's much, much, much faster than bookmarking every single image
Yes, I can see that. But I also like leave dalle open all day and my results are often all bundled with the days web browsing... I spread my usage out over the day, usually, so... mine wouldn't be this clean. also i use chrome, not sure if that matters, though.
A search function paired with "everything youve ever generated is saved" paired with "every image that has ever been generated by dalle searchble by used keyword" would be pretty neat!
makes sense, these are all tough prioritization decisions to make -- I can write out my thoughts sometime on what's holding us back!
going to bed for now -- thank you so much again everyone (as always!) for your input!
thank you so much. i mean, i personally would put a search function on my own generations and call it a day, perfect product haha. thanks again, joanne, have a nice weekend.
also, I should add, in this imaginary world where you can search "every dalle generation" I think I would add "any /public/ dalle generation ever made, anyway in a "public collection" but still let there be "private collections" I think... You're right, it's complicated. honestly, everything as it is is pretty ideal, add a personal search bar, indeed, for me; perfect product.
Boards - Public / Private (a-la Pinterest)
Boards can be renamed & reorganised
"Inspiration", "Memes", "Inpaintings", "Outpaintings", you get the point.Simple user profiles - username, pinned generations / boards, I'm not sure about likes & followers yet.
1000/10,000 history limit instead of saving EVERYTHING a person generates
(I don't want to save everything I generate and would personally find it annoying having to now "delete" things out of my main collection)Speaking of deleting and saving - multi select
Multi-select delete & Multi-select downloadPublic DALL-E Gallery with search option?
After clicking Publish you can add a tickbox option - "Share to DALL-E Showcase". If ticked, you creation will be added to the DALL-E Showcase (database of every published photo) where everyone can find your image with search."Download your collection" button - one-click zip file download button like "Download your data" from instagram.
Hello. My padded images (!pad) from the bot have white instead of transparent outer areas. Is that because I use an iPhone? Is there a setting I should change? 'Just touch once in edit' doesn't work that way...
Here's your padded image. You can now use it as an input for outpainting!
HERE it works again... Strange
I assume that it's just showing the transparent background as white, so it should probably work still I would think
Yes, now it does. O well, I'll make new ones.
Another question. I created these non existing ai people. And I again wanted to edit these. But dalle2 gave me the warning not to upload real people. How do I help Dalle understand dalle2 made these itself? That these are not real at all?
I don't think you can. You could try blurring/drawing over some of the facial features, and uploading it, and then in the edit use the draw tool to remove that part so it generates it again, or leave it and then edit the resultant image you get to remove the blur/drawing
I tried that image and it let me upload it, weird
And this one? I want to make better eyes.
With me it doesnt work with the one you could upload. Dalle won't let me. Weird! How could Dalle let you edit it and not me?
no idea lol
Weird. You were allowed to edit it? OR only uploading?
i can draw the edit tool over it
Understood, my web searchers for all day are captured by the tool too. I just filter by "labs.openai.com", give the date range I want capture tell it to eliminate duplicate URLS and then export. It works with all major browsers. For those that are interested, Google "BrowsingHistoryView" by Nirsoft
Tutorial for dummies please 👋
Similar problem: I made this image, scaled it and put again to make more details. But got an error 🥺
you can't upload public peoples like that
maybe if u removed the eyes...
maybe then the detection will allow it
yeah, think about it...
but its a slippery slope
i would not recommend anybody to modify nor clone anybody's face without proper asking
you just dont
there is nobody to ask about it because the faces were generated 😃
Hi, getting ready for a wedding today, please send me a DM on Monday to remind me
Could we get a counter somewhere on the prompt entry page showing how many times we have left to generate that day? I hate not knowing how many I have left.
The team made it so you can see your past 50 prompts. You can temporarily manually count from there.
Thanks ❤️
Ay the SEO and thumbnail suck but we are getting there 😁🤟
I do more or less the same. I bookmark every one of my generation pages to a designated bookmarks folder. Good or bad, even just other's requests, they are all added to the folder. I'm considering writing a simple extension that would bookmark my generations automatically instead of me having to do it manually all the time. (It becomes a chore after a while).
I bookmark them because I don't want to lose them, it's organized (unlike browser history), and I can keep track of everything I make. I can also publish old generations if I chose to.
I'd be in support of expanding Dall-E's "history" functionality beyond just the sidebar of recent results. I think a method of accessing all your previous generations in-app without externally keeping track of urls would be appreciated by lots of users. The expansion of the history sidebar from 10 to 50 was already really great to see. Of course OpenAI can't host all of our images forever, so perhaps a sort of "expiry date" could be introduced. e.g. Users are told that their results will be wiped after x months.
Hello, my prompt got warnings, but I didn't know which word triggered it, so I reduced the prompt and tried it several times, but now my account is deactivated. Could please some one look into my case and reactivate my account?
What was the prompt?
The guidelines are clear on what's allowed
A high quality portrait photo of a smiling beautiful blonde woman with black eyeglasses and a bun and red lipstick, 35mm, studio lighting, grey background, model shooting
Sometime I think words are banned but it might not be obvious to someone who isn't a native English speaker
The prompt might have generated something lewd and the issue might not be with a particular word
Mhh, okay, are you from openai?
"shooting" is the offending word
Oh, okay
Yes probably
I think shoot works, I normally just use "photography"
They should be reinstating your account, idk when though
Okay, cool. I contacted them few days ago, but no answer yet
There's a lot of users now. I don't think openai will have a large support team, especially for a product that isn't commercialized
