Because you mentioned WhatsApp: I have a little POC (Proof of concept) which uses
A. node.js
B. OpenAI Node API Library (openai-node on Github)
C. Library for interacting with the WhatsApp Web API (whatsapp-web.js on Github),

I use it to send prompts via WhatsApp to gpt, receive an answer, and send the answer back to WhatsApp

I guess this setup in general can help you to build a WhatsApp based notification.

Hey, I'm running into a peculiar issue when creating Assistant Threads(https://platform.openai.com/docs/api-reference/threads/createThread). Seems like there's API limit for only 32 "initial" messages, anything above that I get:

"400 Invalid 'messages': array too long. Expected an array with maximum length 32, but got an array with length 36 instead."

This seems unexpected as there's not documentation whatsoever about this limit. The only workaround I could think of was to manually create messages using the message/createMessage API but that would increase the latency by quite a bit since this would have to be sequential operation. Would appreciate any help

Hey! Do you mean ChatGPT specifically? You can use it either at chatgpt.com on a mobile or desktop browser, or using the official ChatGPT app on iOS or Android. Just look for the one published by OpenAI!

Are you familiar with getting to the "App info" screen for apps on Android, where you can force close an app, clear the app cache, etc.? If you're trying on WiFi currently, it might be worth disabling WiFi/connecting to cellular, force close/clear app cache, then trying again on cellular. I know you've already tried uninstalling, but sometimes this can help!

The rollout is still in progress! Many (maybe most/all) Plus users have 4o already, but I'm not sure if the rollout is complete. But it's happening presently at the very least!

It's possible that the app and the browser version have just enough different telemetry where some network config difference causes a problem with one and not the other.

It's possible that the VPN app is affecting the DNS settings on the device, even without the VPN connection being active (sometimes they're separate steps), so if you're interested in trying it, it might be worth trying to uninstall that as well temporarily, force close/clear cache for ChatGPT again, and trying again. Basically just trying to minimize potential network interference as much as possible.

You're missing the headphones icon completely? Are you on Android? You should be able to tell when you get the new Voice Mode when you see a camera icon in the bottom-left of the UI, like in the Monday demos. The current/old voice mode does not have a camera icon, but you should still be able to use the existing version so let me know if you're missing that icon.

I wouldn't think so, no. Adblockers or VPNs can sometimes filter device traffic in a way that blocks the app from working correctly, but it doesn't sound like that's the case with you! I'm not sure what the cause could be, other than a possible bug, but if you feel like it you might try uninstalling/reinstalling the app!

I can help you get what you want in terms of it appearing as its own icon on the dock and not having to click to bring up the browser to bring up the chatGPT window

in terms of having multiple chatGPT windows open at once... I don't think that's possible with the Plus version even, or at least sometimes it will not like that, I don't know, I have no need for that

I sorta can see it being useful if you want to jump between two conversations I guess but I think that may give you some difficulty

However, most of the built-in features we saw in the demo are not yet available.

4o can use the same Dall-E tool, search tool, Python tool, Vision tool that GPT-4 use, and that's what my access to 4o seems to be using.

Later, it seems likely we get access to a more-updated 4o model, one that has the internalized Dall-E, voice, Vision, and whatever else.

However, as a plus user I already have the 80 messages per 3 hours with 4o, and the 40 per 3 hours with 4, and my huge amount of tokens with 3.5

And we can now switch between models in the same conversation at any time, and even go from 3.5 back to 4 or up to 4o, without having to start a new conversation

this will make it so that ChatGPT runs in its own window. It's like a safari window running in full-window mode although it has a limited selection of menu commands

so when you're on the ChatGPT website and logged in go to File --> Add to Dock

well I think you may have to pick some special options when you go to "Add to Dock" but basically once it's in the Dock, I think it's also added to your Applications folder. If it's not, you can get it there

try right-clicking on the dock icon and saying "Show in Finder" and you can copy it to where it needs to be so that you can access it from the "Applications" option under the Apple menu if that's what you mean

I have the option to have "Every display has its own space" turn on (or maybe it's off), so if I have chatGPT running on one screen and chrome running on another screen, the menu bar is chrome on the screen that's running chrome and chatGPT on the one that's running ChatGPT

Yeah, so free users 'default' to 4o, if they have any messages for 4o remaining now, per the help file, https://help.openai.com/en/articles/7102672-how-can-i-access-gpt-4-gpt-4-turbo-and-gpt-4o

Once you run out of available 4o messages, then it'll all just be 3.5 until you have your new time period's set available.

I've heard that free users actually need to re-select 3.5 every message to delay using their limited 4o messages before they are ready to.

Hey, for a LOT of stuff, 3.5 is awesome.

Also, if you yourself are comfortable using an IDE and copy/pasting code yourself, you can create a lot of the graphics you might want to use with your lessons.

For example, GPT 3.5 helped me design the code for this stacked bar chart, and taught me how to update it with each new week's data:

GPT-4 is also great, but for a huge number of things, including a lot of stuff related to coding and basic language use, including lesson plans, 3.5 is rock solid useful.

We also have #prompt-engineering channel, as well as this community help, but the prompt engineering channel really is a great place to ask for help to dig deep into exactly how to get exactly what you want from the model, be it some specific help with a lesson plan, or many other things. 3.5 can do a lot, and prompt engineering help's also available, ask if you want assistance! 😄

In my experience, if 3.5 can do the task really well, then 4, and 4o, can also do it really well, but not really 'better'.

There's a few tasks that 3.5 is not good at, but 4 is really good at; one of those is understanding and explaining some deeper, more complex, and more subtle human motivations and emotions. 4o is also very good at that, hard for me to say if it's better than 4.

Additionally, 4 and 4o have access to tools that 3.5 does not have, like Vision, Dall-E, web browsing, and the newly rolling out access to google drive.

I personally used 3.5 a LOT until we recently got the expanded so many messages per 3 hours with 4o; even though I was plus from as soon as plus existed. Now, with 120ish messages between 4 and 4o every 3 hours, I am not running into rate limits, so I'm almost never using 3.5

Hey guys, I am using RAG to retrieve information from a Pinecone DB and then generate a response with llama3. The vector DB contains information about certain tasks that need to be completed but also unrelevant chats. Each embedding contains metadata about the message, timestamp, userid, and username.

If I want to provide additional information about the project behind those tasks, so the LLM can better understand which tasks are linked to what, where should I store this information? Should I create another vector database and provide the content additionally as project background, or should I upload it to the existing vector database? The existing one contains not only tasks but also chat logs between people, so information that could be wrong.

For example, I would like the llm to know which employee positions there are, e.g. developer, supporter, and what their tasks in general are. When a task is written in the chat, the llm should understand the connection between the role and the task.

The odds of success with Dall-E are extremely low, however it may be able to make a form of this with Python tool.

It absolutely can guide you with a program you can use in something like Visual Studio Code and a programming language to generate what you want yourself, if you have an IDE like VSC set up, a programming language installed, or are comfortable with the process enough to want that kinda guidance.

Before I dig into confirming it can help with Python tool (I am pretty sure it could, but not certain), would you say more about what you want and how you're guiding the model to help?

By "business plan", do you mean ChatGPT Team? And as for the API: there aren't really paid "plans" on there as I understand it, just usage tiers that allow you to use the API to different degrees. API usage in general is a pay-as-you-go model, though you need to add credit before using.

Unless you're talking about some ChatGPT Enterprise plan you're on, which I think might sometimes include API credits as part of the per-org deal structure of Enterprise.

With The Microsoft option it tells me I don't have a Microsoft account for some reason.

For the Google account it asks me for my password to long on which was changed and I'm not supposed to have access to it.

So I did beg I.T. for the password back so I could finish a few things they gave it to me and tried revoking access to my Google account. When I did that it let me create a password to log in but when I try to log in it wants me to use the Google method which will only work for a few more days.

I see -- this might be a tricky one, perhaps best suited for a ticket to OpenAI support at help.openai.com. Open the chat widget on that page, start a chat, click through the most relevant default options, and you'll eventually get to a point where you can type in your own message. This will submit a ticket that support can review and get back to you on. It won't be instant, so be sure to check in in the chat over the following hours/days.

A couple things to keep in mind: authentication method switching and email address changing are both not currently supported:

Hey! It can vary based on server load, and it's based on 3-hour rates, not daily rates. On the ChatGPT pricing page, they say that Plus is up to 5x the usage of the Free plan. The Plus cap is 80/3hrs by default, but that can also be lowered during high traffic. So it's roughly a fifth of 80/3hrs, or lower!

I possess about 300,000 rows in training data, but it seems that the OpenAI environment will only allow me to upload about 9,700 rows. Anything above that will provide an error. Is there a maximum limit of examples? I also checked the maximum token size of each training prompt, which does not exceed 1,000 per prompt and is thus well below the token limit. The file size also never exceeds 1GB.

Chrome and Edge are both Chromium browsers, so a non-Chromium browser like Firefox can be a good test. Again, either a private window with all extensions disabled, or a fresh install is best!

Also: testing on another device like a smartphone can be a good test -- I know you said it's not working in the app but perhaps the web version on that device might give a different result?

Like, a human, even a very, very smart one, needs to have experiences and normal senses to build an understanding of the world.

Helen Keller, a rather famous person who had a serious illness while still a toddler, just 19 months old and lost sight and hearing then, was given a tutor when she was 6. The tutor was blind, but had become blind after learning speech and having had some understanding of the world, and the tutor had been through a school for the blind.

The tutor traced sign language over Helen's skin while Helen was exposed to stuff, and the thing that first made sense, Helen was much later able to describe, was 'water', as her hand was in water, she finally realized that pattern of touch meant water (she probably first thought it meant 'wet/cold' - because even understanding what water is, that's fairly advanced, and she explained long after she actually learned the first symbol, but odds are she later learned a different symbol for wet, and that water was a distinct meaning that happens to be wet).

But stuff like that... even humans are profoundly affected by their senses and limitations, and we can't learn without help and exposure to concepts.

So too, AI. They live in a reality where they can barely sense shapes - the model can't even see the images Dall-E or Python tool make for us. They guess they know what the shapes 'look' like and what's actually in them - the model has no idea.
