I've read the recent news in my google feeds today, saw that AI might have the potential to replace a lot of jobs. Like a real lot. And, I'm very concerned for this. Would this pose a threat for us especially as programmers were the first things on the list. I'm actually using OpenAI's tools to speedup workflow and I can see it's very very very capable. It can do my workload of what's equivalent for me in 1-2 days in just a few prompts and a couple of additional follow up request to polish the code.

Would it be possible for it to replace real human coders? I mean, I think technically, it has already displaced Digital Artists on Digital Art platforms and have possible affected their income. E.g., Deviantart / Pixiv. It can easily make art what humans can reproduce in what takes hours for a top 1% Digital Artist in mere seconds.

With this trend, I can really see it replacing software job listings for humans. What do you guys think?

That makes everything it answers suspect. Those are subjective measurements.... When it gets better, we may differ on our conclusions regarding whether it is self-aware or not. In the end, it's a bit like faith. You either believe that a non-flesh organism can be intelligent, or you don't. Eventually, when the AI is advanced enough, you won't be able to "prove" one way or the other. So you'll just have to resort to faith.

There really isnt a point to using it for simple questions like german military budget in ww2, but if I were to ask it a complex and specific question, it wouldnt be possible to google such a question and therefore I would use chatgpt to help me out with that (which is what the tech supposedly should be for), but its sometimes hard to believe what it is saying when you know that it could literally make stuff up instead of telling us that it just isnt sure or doesnt know.

Its really impressive, but openai should imo focus on consistency, because no matter how great, if it gives a wrong answer 5% of the time, it still won't be able to defeat/replace its contenders like google.
