There are free versions for both of them. I use Mathway and it solves problems, but you have to sign up to go step by step. I don't know about wolfram alpha. If you're graphing, use Desmos

What I have heard is that, the more complex you go with code, the more QA you have to implement. For example, if you are a novice at Python, dont assume a block of code that you ask for will be the proper answer. It can lay out a foundation though

Yes, i also noticed that

with code it only really thinks in one direction. like if you wrote code on an old typewriter. generally as you write code yourself you realise say, a function you need might have dependancies, need other variable types. you personally can easily go back on your code and do that, but for the chatgpt its not as easy. it might eventually get there for something simple if you keep asking it to debug its own code over and over

it can however rustle up small workable examples for you to impliment, but its not designed to churn out a working program when you say "computer make me a facebook rival please."

Backstory: a close relative has Alzheimer's and struggles to remember her life's memories. Hi, I can't create an account. It alwasy says "The email you provided is not supported." I used Gmail and Outlook (both old and new accounts), tried VPN (although I'm from Germany, so it should work). Contacted support, but no response. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I have been playing around a bit with the completion API. I created a simple training-data file with some JSONL promts and completions. Something like this:

I am basically just trying to create a list of FAQ inside the training data. But when I ask exactly the question that a prompt has. The fine-tuned model still responds with something different. And what I don't want it to do is answer to questions asked outside of the dataset. For instance questions about "How old is Paris Hilton" or things like that. Is there a way that I can tell it to only look for answers inside the training-data? Or what is the best approach here?

Hey Yall. I am seeing if ChatGPT can do text analysis on data and keep getting instructions on how to do it myself rather than ChatGPT doing the analysis. Can ChatGPT be used for these purposes? Here is my prompt if this will help:

"I have data pertaining to tasks relating to projects we do for our clients. The two data fields are Task ID and Task Name. The task name field needs to be cleaned up. The problem I have is that the task name for the same type of task are called something different each time. For example the task for "Accounts Payable Bi-weekly Clean up" is also called "Account Payable clean up bi- weekly". Can you look through the Task Name field and find tasks that are the same but have different names, and come up with what the task names should be for these tasks? The fields I would like to see the Task ID, Original Task Name, The Corrected Task Name. I would also like a fourth column that gives your confidence you have correctly identified the correct name for the tasks on a scale of 1-100. To be clear I do not want step by step instructions. I want you to go through the data I provided below and compare the task names and identify similarities."

@novel bluff You can maybe do it, but I think you have to make sure to tell it more clearly when your data file starts, and when it ends. you could use 3 backticks at the start and end, and tell it that it starts at the first 3 and ends after the other 3. Also not sure what your structure is, but try to use JSONL format, or JSON? I have had some good results with this myself. Also make sure you really define each key and what the key name is and what it represents and what it is used for blah blah. The more you talk the better I believe. I did some test regarding this myself where I had two documentation pages in markdown text, converted it to JSONL data file with the URLS, titles and content etc. And I gave it the exact JSONL, explained it what everything was and it did what I asked it to do exactly. But it comes with high cost and you are capped at this maximum data you can give, at least when using the API. This is exactly where I am stuck. I need to be able to train the model to learn from the documentation. But I can only provide training-data with prompt and completion keys. I can't provide url and not all titles are questions. And the whole thing just doesn't seem to work with providing a fine-tuned model based on the exact same training data. But when I put it inside the "Playground" as how I explained above it works really well. But just really expensive and I have much much more data. So it's not an option (for me) 😦

I’m a professor and noticed this too. But the fake sources are usually not implausible. You could always just break down the structure of the argument suggested by GPT, figure out what claims the fake sources are making and whether or not those claims have any bearing on reality. If they do, fire up google (not gpt) or your library databases that your tuition money pays for and find real sources which say these things. The trick right now is to approach it as a research partner that has great ideas but who cannot be trusted. And keep track of how you used it to generate ideas along with how you fact checked and improved it. Easy peasy. And if anyone complains you can show your work.

I would start by generating an outline structure. Figure out what the thesis and main ideas are. Then use gpt to flesh out the body paragraphs for main ideas. Then revise and edit in your own voice. And keep track of what you did in case anyone asks questions.

No, I have tried literally everything at this point to make it work with my training-data. But it's just not accurate, it gives to much random answers from the world-wide-web (current knowledge). And you can not disable this either. The only way to achieve this is the method that seemed to work for me, but again, not ideal at least not for the amount of documentation I have. But it will work fine if you have just a small set of frequently asked questions. Then it can be done fairly easily. To bad though. Would have been pretty cool.

You can prompt ChatGPT to try to do this but I doubt it'll be possible. There are models on huggingface that generate gifs from text prompts though.

If you view a piece of art, discover a "new to you" technique and later draw or paint something from the parts that you recollect or use a similar brush stroke in an artwork are you stealing? I would think that replicating a piece of art or artists work in such as way that it is indistinguishable from the artist and claim ownership of it is definitely stealing. I'm no lawyer though. Learning from the world and having the ability to do things is not stealing. Doing bad things with those abilities is, well, bad. Right? My 2 cents.

These are just tools. Ways of interacting with information that exists already in the world in novel ways. What you do with it is your prerogative. You can do a lot with a hammer. Build or destroy. It's not the hammers choice to make.

I would suggest a good barometer would be that if what you make with AI gives you an uncomfortable feeling that your stealing don't use that result. Try to make it more original. Remove artists names from your prompts for starters. Describe the contents feel completely and all your own. Make it your hammer. That's all I got.

Even if you trained on a large amount of codebase, how does it build an understanding of what small segments of the code are doing? It adds comments amazingly well...and actually explains the code. Remember: At its heart, GPT is an autocomplete engine. If it sees examples of the character it's playing being stupid, it will predict this character to continue being exactly that stupid.
