You would want to utilise Outpainting via the editor. Please keep in mind that the generation frame is locked at 1024 x 1024 so, you'll have to make larger versions piece by piece, manually.

Outpainting is the process of adding more content to an existing image with DALL∙E. Padded empty space is added around the image, and DALL∙E fills it in!

(There's much more you can do with outpainting, this is the most basic and commonly used. Check the #inpaint-outpaint channel for more ways to outpaint.)

Step 1

Generate or select an image and use the !pad command in the #dall-e-bot channel.

Step 2

Upload your image to DALL∙E and press 'Edit'. Do not forget to erase the watermark.

Step 3

Generate it with a prompt that describes what you want to see in the new image as a whole.

If you want to make an image larger than 1024 x 1024 with dalle, you will need to generate new visuals beyond the borders of your original piece via Outpainting and the editor, yes. There's a little tutorial on this kind of Outpainting at the very bottom of #📚┃resources so you can see the method I am talking about in action.

Though, if you want to take an image that you generated and are happy with, and simply want to make that 1024 x 1024 image a 4K image, you'll have to use a third-party image upscaler.

Sure, well, I think that dalle's Outpainting editor is really powerful for making 4k images. "Making" being the operative word there. You just have to envision an image and build towards it. For example, this piece of mine. But at the moment, making your single 1024 x 1024 image a 4k image, you'll need to employ an upscaler 🙂

Hm... I mean... you could give it a go, and try about Outpaint while using the same prompt with "maintaining the aesthetic and quality" as a prompt... But I would guess that trying to Outpaint this to a 4k image, Dalle will be too creative and start doing artistic things eventually.

In any case, this particular image is one that I'm sure you can put through an upscaler and get just the results you want. I'm no expert, but it seems crisp enough to do so.

You can't currently train Dalle on your own material. That may change, but not currently.

As per your previous question, you can try your luck with including your art in the 'Generation frame', along with alpha/erased space, and to some degree, dalle will 'match the style' as it expands the image. It will attempt to 'preserve the style'.

The more elements you request, the more difficult it is for DE2 to get a coherent solution. Try simplifying to get the most important element first. If that works, add the next most important thing. You may notice that coherence falls apart when you add some specific goal. When prompts fail in ways you don't understand, try doing the prompt in stages, specifying the most important element first. If that gens, add details in stages.

Hi🌸 I was stupid enough to try too many times to generate/edit a picture that got me a warning. So my account got deactivated. I already sent an appeal email.. but the issue now is..: apparently I don‘t own my generations (that I paid for), I only have the rights to use them as long as I don‘t violate any rules. to upload an image you don't need to indicate any textual prompt, only after you upload and set a different frame to start out painting you need to start giving prompts, if you're following the style you can continue by "subject + painting by Johannes Vermeer, art movement name, year when it was painted, oil on canvas or other medium, and palette as well if you want. "

I had a similar problem when I first started using DALL-E. Actually, realistically when I want to use dalle I still do what I just suggested you to do, it's just my shortcut.

A tip if you have an android phone, you can click the three dots in the top righthand corner when you're on the main dalle page, the prompt generation screen, and "Add to Home Screen" and it'll make a kind of make-shift app of dalle. Click that and it'll always take you to the prompt entry page. You can probably do something similar on Apple, but I don't have an iPhone.

You need to erase the part of the image that you want changed in order for the AI to know what to do. You can search Google with "erase background of an image" and it will automatically do it for you.

Problem: Some organization members see 0 DALLE credits, even though others see the positive number of credits that we actually have. It seems like maybe the members that see 0 are the ones that were added later and the ones that see the positive number or credits that I expect were added earlier. OpenAI support seems non-responsive.

Hi @trim kite I have a suggestion for DALL-E community. Starting today, Here in Nepal, we are celebrating Dashain, and it lasts for another 14 days, total of 15 days. Dashain is the largest festival we celebrate, followed by Tihar, which begins after 12 days from the full moon in October. In Dashain, we take "Tika" and "Jamara" as blessing and play traditional Ferris Wheel, and Linge Ping (a traditional swing constructed during the festival of Dashain mainly in Nepal.) In Tihar, we celebrate the relation between brothers and sisters by putting "Colorful Tika" and Garland made of flowers to each other and bless with prosperity and long life. Halloween is in October, and a part of Tihar resembles to Halloween. You know how kids play Trick or Treat in Halloween. Similar to that, here, we play 'Deusi / Bhailo' from the Third day which is New Moon day. We go around the Neighborhood and sing and dance. Just like in Halloween Kids are offered Chocolates, we are offered Sel Roti, Fruits, and sweets. Then we light the 'Diyo', Traditional Earthened burning lamp and we give blessings to the family that Godddess Lakshmi, the goddess of Wealth and Prosperity, not to leave the house.

So, It would be great Idea to promote cultures in the community, and probably one idea would be to create Festoctober celebrating Dashain, Tihar, Halloween by use of DALL-E in creating Art that connects these festivals.

Sorry, not to confuse you with our chat.
You can't change the colour of an image, for example, as jpcguy89 says, this is called "style transfer" technically. If you were to "Generate Variations" on this image with dalle, it will give you a different version of that image, but still quite similar. So likely with the same colour palette, and a different kind of "dinosaur bird"

If I run the same prompt twice, I get different results. It would be great to know if there's a way to store certain parameters so that all I need is the prompt and those parameters and DallE would return always the same images. Is something like that possible at all?

Hi! Cool idea. The only "configuration" possible is the prompt.

As an aside, it has not been publicly announced/discussed by OAI if DALL-E 2 is deterministic or not, so it may not even be possible to reproduce images reliably.
