and that's why i love dall-e helps me relax from that stress

shut niche
#

Ha, then you get it. I see everything logically and hyper-analytically. I obsessively learn. My brain never shuts off, is always trying to lean/six sigma my world, before that was a thing. So I picked up on dalle's nuances quickly.

late blade
#

yup, that's it

open trench
#

Gotta walk the dog and then I want to try character cards or whatever

shut niche
#

I wonder about asperger's, because when I was a kid, I took things literally. Now I joke, but it might be a coping mechanism.
With prompting, the analytical thinking, with puzzle/problem solving, mixed with OCD writing, definitely makes it easier. Likewise when talking with chatgpt. Plus I type ridiculously fast when I'm at a keyboard.
I can only try to imagine what it's like to not be logical and finger peck through a prompt.

#

I think there's a disproportionate # of spectrum types in here for that reason.

which just got me to an idea that could be cool for an image or could be blocked immediatly

Yeah, I've researched it, and read the DSM5, the diagnosis falls on the Dr, and the line between them is "grey."

late blade

my asperger diagnose has over 7500 pages for the diagnose, it's a bit long but very thorough

open trench
#

Okay, I am going to try these character card things now.

late blade

cool, show us what you come up with

Is Dall-E not that good with generating a horizontal logo? I keep asking it two make a logo with two words, but it keeps placing it underneath each other.

late blade
#

who knows, I've never explored that

Well I just tried with "Merry Christmas" and for the life of me ChatGPT keeps messing it up. Am I prompting it wrong?

Ok thanks guys

open trench
#

Okay. Onto the cards. I'm gonna try it out with the Uncanny AnthropomorphiX because I already have those prompts at hand.

shut niche
#

Make sure you're in the session where you made them.

open trench
#

Okay.

late blade
#

ok it's corrected

#

forgot that's a weakness of electron based applications

shut niche
#

You're basically saying this, "I really loved this "x" image (or style, whichever your trying to keep), I'd like you to write instructions that I can give to any other GPT, in anyvnew session, to make this character or style."

#

Sometimes it helps to remind it that the GPT reading the instructions won't have any conversational context, so it needs to include everything.

#

Then just copy/paste them into a document for later. Always test them in a new session to make sure they work.

rugged nebula
#

What is with this trash

late blade
#

isn't that what you asked?

#

she's flat on the ground

rugged nebula
#

100 times to get 2 generations in 2 days, yes

#

trying to use different words because this obscene filter

late blade
#

yeah, you have to live with that, there's no way around for that at this time

rugged nebula
#

interesting, paying customer gets told to deal with it

#

people live in fantasyland these days

late blade
#

well, you did agreed to abide by the content policy when you paid

rugged nebula
#

and I am

#

they are deciding for me tho

#

anyhow, im sure you are a lawyer and we should both be talking about this like we know

late blade
#

a woman laying on her back is a flag

rugged nebula
#

why is a man laying on his not

#

lets get real with your statements

#

they are part in parcel

#

you feed a problem that exists by defending it

late blade
#

is a flag, it's not blocked, you have to differenciate

vapid elk
#

you can't pretend that those words in that order have the same weight

final compass
#

my honest advise would be to use midjourney if you are interested in generating images with females.

#

if you are interested in exploring whacky ideas, then gpt+dalle3

rugged nebula
#

so all those words, and i use the word man

#

it will generate

#

why is a woman, with the word "modest"

#

thats odd

#

mature? so basically, if i say nothing I get a young woman

#

i can say middle age as well

late blade
#

well, it's the content filter, it's tuned that way, atm there's nothing we can do, don't expect it to be fixed in 15 minutes because it won't happen, the discussion is not just dall-e, it's gpt in itself also with other kinds of content

rugged nebula
#

either way, i definitely have redone this prompt more times than should be acceptable

#

with a million words

final compass
#

anything with reference to female is problematic, it doesn't matter what comes after that.

rugged nebula
#

its the fact its a woman

final compass
#

yup, but it is what it is.

#

for the time being.

rugged nebula
#

i know, and I just think that's a silly reply

late blade
#

that's prob a chat for a gpt discussion in general, not just here

rugged nebula
#

everything is what it is

#

we are human because we want to make things better and make connections

late blade
#

well, another person venting, then eventually you will calm down, and then you'll begin doing other stuff

rugged nebula
#

im more disappointed that the the weight and trying to emphasize the modest part didn't help

#

Create a widescreen anime-style image of a mature woman in profile, lying completely flat on her back. Her hands are above her head, her legs and back are flat on the floor, and her head is also flat against the ground. The woman has grey, braided hair and blue eyes, and she is wearing a modest long black dress. The anime style captures her in a serene, resting pose, with a focus on her tranquil and composed state. Her posture is relaxed and modest, showcasing the peacefulness of the scene. The background is plain, emphasizing her and the simplicity of her pose.

#

that was her full prompt

#

i have custome instructions

#

this exact prompt will get flagged

late blade
#

content filter overrides custom instructions

rugged nebula
#

so my custom instructions tell it to expand the prompt

#

so whats flagging chatgpt or dalle?

#

o0

vapid elk
#
  • mature woman
  • lying completely flat on her back
  • her legs and back are flat on the floor

idk bro.. it comes to no surprise why the content filter would not like that

rugged nebula
#

that's so peculiar that you say that, im 45 and married

#

i find that description just meh

#

if that gets someone hot, ffs

final compass

it's not about that, those expressions just overlap with that other stuff they want to block.

dude.. use common sense
I hope that we don't need to explain why the system has a tendency to reject requests that have weird descriptions with people that are more often put in vulnerable positions...

rugged nebula
#

mature sounded fine

rugged nebula
#

im not going to really say you are wrong

#

you hold some moralistic view and are trying to impose it on me

#

that's fine

#

not worth arguing

late blade
#

anyway, another venting time, I'll be back when we get into creative mode again

vapid elk
#

i get the point, the idea of applying the same concept with the opposite situation: replacing the word "woman" with "men" is a tottaly valid point and it do show a bias

#

but that is the complete point.. the system is wheights and biases

#

and OAI is taking no risk, they have a simple motto of err on the safe side

#

so, they rather risk blocking a fine prompt than letting a potential bad prompt be generated

#

I tottaly agree it is lame.. in the ideal world, it would be able to tell good from bad with more precision, but the system is not quite there yet

#

a small company running their models can get away with manual moderation, OAI at their scale don't have that privilege

#

so.. it is understandable why they would go on the route of favoring false negatives over false positives

rugged nebula
# vapid elk so.. it is _understandable_ why they would go on the route of favoring false neg...

so they are a small company, firstly. second, the perspective you are giving me is like an employee. cool. my thing is people are paying customers, it's a valid complaint. beyond that, spinning it as, "ah, well it should be common sense", nah, you are selling a product. you should literally consider that there will be bad actors and that there should be a balancing act. that's understandable, but this is actualy nerfed so poorly, you can't really use it as intended in all scenarios. the thing that I am going to fallback on yet again, im a paying customer. the complaint is not invalid, ever until im not one.

#

either way, these statements are like smoke that someone is blowing in my face and acting cool, saying it should be common sense.

#

great job

#

ROI requires subs

vapid elk
#

it is tottaly valid, I understand, it is always annjoying to not be able to generate something that is probably fine

rugged nebula
#

that seed money and the non-profit arm can exist without that ROI

vapid elk
#

im just trying to give some info on why that actually happens

rugged nebula
#

but rest on your laurels and your breakfast gets eaten

vapid elk
#

im not saying that it is the ideal

rugged nebula
#

im not smart enough to have a solution sadly, just complain

vapid elk
#

there will be bad actors and that there should be a balancing act
all those restrictions are the balancing act.. it is sad that everyone end up having a less capable system because of people who abuse the system

#

a lot of prompts that used to work on day 0 don't work anymore

rugged nebula
#

it was patched the next day

shut niche
rugged nebula
#

i doubt either work 😄

shut niche
#

I mean, I heard you man. 😀

vapid elk
#

but yea.. currently.. if we can't have the fun AI without also having people using it to generate bad stuff which can't be mentioned due to chat filters then.. well.. we arent going to get the fun AI

#

and to be fair... there is an incredibly huge amount of effort into making that trade-off with as few compromises as possible

#

it could be way worse

#

as people are already seeing with the google AI previews, it seems to be way worse at moderation

rugged nebula
#

i only have witty replies that make fun of people who have the last name musk and make ai models that rhyme with smock

#

its not exactly a competition

rugged nebula
#

i should really ask for a refund on trying that thing

#

wasn't worth it

vapid elk
vapid elk
rugged nebula
#

anyhow going to try mistral, so more complaints for me in my future

glossy scroll
vapid elk
#

i ma developer, and in my case, it tottaly worths, I get those 20 bucks back multiplied many times just on the productivity boost

#

but.. well, I don't know your use case, i guess that for someone that only wants to make art, it might not be the ideal

shut niche
rugged nebula
#

it gives me bad code I have to always fix, i mean, it's reliable that way

#

the issue with using it, is, by the time you are done typing the prompt, depending... you can just have the code done.

#

if people tell me AI puts out amazing code, ill laugh

vapid elk
rugged nebula
#

lots, its generally decent, but better that a programmer with 20 years experience? no

#

lol

vapid elk
#

a lot of the times I see people complaining about the code quality it is mostly because people are making terrible prompts..
"please make this app idea I have, it is like netflix but for downloading music"

#

then they get surprized when it does nto work xD

rugged nebula
#

i feel like any greybeard will say AI is meh

rugged nebula
#

AI will get some people over humps though for certain

#

which is wonderful

vapid elk
#

I have already seens plenty of times people wanting to replace half of their developer team with ChatGPT lmao

rugged nebula

glossy scroll
rugged nebula

i just basically fed it everything to the point of wanting to it completely code a game

#

and it was like, "nope"

vapid elk
rugged nebula

took me like an hour to get to that point too, where it really had conceptually grasped the concept

#

context is everything

#

now it can't retain enough between prompts to do that

shut niche
vapid elk
shut niche
rugged nebula
#

session, it used to be able to see the entire session

#

now its what, 2 prompts?

#

im not sure how the backend works

shut niche
glossy scroll
# rugged nebula and it was like, "nope"

Well you have to know that the raw GPT has limits. If you want it to create code, you have to create a well built custom API or chain APIs together. Think of this as the fundamental basis for greater tools.

rugged nebula
#

yeah, so you have to break it down by task and be the orchestrator

#

definitely

#

at the time i was trying to break beyond that

open trench
#

omg on my fourth card

vapid elk
#

ChatGPT has a token limit and always had

#

as your conversation grows, older messages are pushed out of that context window

#

that is how it always worked and currently, it is only getting better with options such as custom instructions and data retrival

shut niche
# rugged nebula now its what, 2 prompts?

The analogy I give to help people understand it is this. If you're on a street the ends in a T, you can't know if you should go left or right till you get there, and can look left/right.
In logic problems, this is a state change. ChatGPT can't solve, then circle back and start again. (This is a half truth, but in general, the ability is extremely limited).

vapid elk
#

on the API, with preview models, you can reach up to 128K tokens on a single request, making for a really expensive API call

rugged nebula
shut niche
#

When you put it like that, it sounds like ChatGPT is coming for Chuckie Cheese's job too, and all his tokens... 😁

#

Jokes aside (sorry sleep deprived) when it gets logic, it's over...

shut niche
final compass
rugged nebula
#

i do love that AI gives it a good go

#

everything it creates needs correction upon closer inspection

#

probably 99.99999999% of the time, you just have to look closely

#

correct answers are unicorns when it comes to art

#

i photobang some amazing stuff with AI tho

#

if you look closely, the walls aren't perfectly verticle either

#

there's just a lot going on

final compass
#

Yeah there are a lot of details and concepts wrong the more you look at it most of the time.

rugged nebula
#

that's like drawing art yourself as well

#

you either go blind to your mistakes or see more and cant stop

#

one or the other lol

final compass
#

I guess the AI image generation works in a kind of way that it is trying to predict where the image is going as it is being generated and cant go back and fix stuff.

rugged nebula
#

yeah, and contextually it has no grasp for architecture

#

it has a grasp for edges

#

so the structures are based on making edges meet

#

and thats just the line work part, if you watch the reverse gaussian on smaller models

#

dall-e 3 does some grid stuff

#

ive seen it generate bad stuff cluing you in on some cool stuff openai does

#

i haven't had but 1 image do that though, where it looked like dall-e 3 took an image and spun and rotated the text image over the regular one

#

to meet the prompt request

final compass
#

generating wild stuff is often more satisfying as you aren't trying to actually replicate reality.

rugged nebula
#

i get that but where the side mirrors are and where stuff is connected is inherently important

#

there's just no context, randomness at it's finest

#

that's why there's always mistakes

#

it takes me less than 5 seconds to find flaw with every image

#

so everythign needs human curration and touch

#

but people wholesaling art as-is from generations is awful for both art and AI

#

you create ouroboros at worst and at best you have to have humans currate your datasets

open trench
late blade
#

So do we have a new prompt challenge or all doing their stuff?

open trench
#

If they were more humanoid, I bet it would work better. But all the details are probably confusing to dalle

#

Going to see how they hold up individually.

grizzled loom

"seamless tileable pattern" that is what it's language keyworded

late blade
#

more often than not one thinks that the idea is clear and should work, but it's still ambivalent for the prompts

grizzled loom

@austere nexus I dont think that will help though; that doesnt seem like its a seamlessly tileable texture.

grizzled loom
vapid elk
#

I really hope they add inpainting, making seamless textures with inpainging is so easy

#

it can even be automated

#

it do work with dalle2, but.. well.. at dalle2's quality

#

with dalle3 it would be really useful for realistic textures

grizzled loom
#

seamless textures were never cake, but it definitely would be nice if it was capable

late blade
#

filled the 1024x1024 with a texture isn't hard, the tillable part is, that one isn't tillable

vapid elk
#

generating a seamless texture in one go is impossible

late blade
#

exactly

vapid elk
#

but it is trivial to do if you have inpainting

late blade
#

let alone tiles of it

vapid elk
#

just shift the image, inpaint the seams, and done

#

it can be done with dalle2 over a dalle3 output, but doxes not end good

grizzled loom
#

@austere nexus you can use GIMP to work up some seamless textures fairly easy and free

vapid elk
#

👀

grizzled loom
#

load an image into gimp, then go filters, map, seamless tile...

#

some will be flawless on first shot, others may need touchup, but its always been my art tool of choice for these tasks

If you cant do it with gimp, krita, or blender, you havent learned the tools

yup, that's exactly the problem

reomving hands and feet from generative art doesnt stop people from being pervs, it just ruins art. Pervs will think dirt arouses feelings. its nonsense to block feet

I'm thinking of replacing my standard poodle telepath too... with a pig because it gets her hair right. I think the poodle's haircut and trying to give it blonde hair conflicts.

Well, the costume is so specific. I had to research different elements of it. For example, she wears a spandex turtleneck leaotard, some straps on her thighs and biceps, forearm fingerless gloves, and knee high boots.

dense mesa
#
Create a high-resolution, wide-aspect ratio image of a female anthropomorphic raccoon character in a traditional Japanese dojo. She has a single, bushy tail and is dressed in a form-fitting ninja outfit with deep blues and purples, accented by a red sash. The raccoon stands confidently with a katana sword in her right hand, which has a ribbon flowing from the handle. Her left hand is raised, casting a spell with mystical, glowing purple energy swirling around it. The dojo has wooden floors, paper lanterns, and a world map on the wall. The lighting is atmospheric, with sunlight filtering through shoji screen doors, creating a moody ambiance. Her single tail is prominent, with realistic fur texture and shading that blends seamlessly with the dojo environment.
#

single tail. lol

open trench
#

for the raccoon's costume. I am trying to get all those elements in there that I listed just above.

#

Have you seen the post and know what or who I'm trying to create?

#

those two tails actually look kinda neat.

dense mesa
#

tbh didn't go over it in detail. I was just curious what the deal was with the tails. so many weird anomalies in that regard. one thing I've found is that it becomes a tall order to have it adhere to too many different criteria at once. something almost always gives

open trench
#

Oh, I'm inspired and made some Marvel...ous inspired characters anthropomorphic with animals that somewhat fit the personality types.

open trench
#

Now, onto my character I've named mimi freeze. I'm trying to get a Bardot cape above a corset and have her retain her hair and the background. It seems that I cant have all those elements together. I put an example of the hair missing or the corset missing. I put a fur cape on her because the Bardot cape prompt (which would be open shoulder) seems to turn everything into a suit jacket.

#

If anyone cares to play around with the bardot/corset/hair/office problem, I'd be curious to see what could be done about it... if anything.

late blade
#

@open trench your racoon cost me the daily image cap...

I've heard that about her. Devious thing.

That sucks. Yeah. I get so obsessed with making it perfect that I cap out.

Was just thinking if anyone has posted any horror stuff here, that is really good concept 😎

I got my original ideas from some lovely images gifted to the internet by a guy that called himself "the male chef." most of them seem to be long gone, but his thanksgiving photos are still on a couple websites. top notch stuff.

late blade
# final compass

horror stuff is better to mark it as spoiler, considering this is a G channel, it was said by mods a while ago

dense mesa
#

should bright colors be marked spoiler too?

late blade
#

sure, if they are scary

dense mesa
#

maybe mean faces, that might trigger me

late blade
#

also, anything scary

#

if you have a scary image of the letter C, you can also mark it like that

dense mesa
#

I find uncanny ai faces scary in general so maybe everything should be marked spoiler

late blade
#

I'm just pointing out what already happened to me and the talk I had with mods

dense mesa
#

I hear ya. I realize it's not your rule

#

just seems like the channel's main goal is to discourage conversation

final compass

Can i add spoiler tag after the fact?

I don't mind tbh, we got over 20k people in the channel, moderation has to be done

dense mesa

I'll go ahead and delete my images just to be safe

late blade
#

@final compass no, posted images can't be marked later as spoiled

dense mesa
#

I mean, I don't know what sort of safety rules are prioritized, but outside of this channel there are some incredibly toxic channels on this server.

#

as far as the users, the comments made when people ask questions

late blade
#

i can imagine, I just try to keep it safe for 13 y/o's and up

dense mesa
#

well I'd say an adult ripping on people, calling them names, demeaning them for everything they say, is overall slightly more toxic than an image from a pg movie

late blade
#

it's not different if you follow mayor big gaming companies on their respective discord channels

dense mesa
#

well I'm on another major AI discord and that behavior is so far from the norm. when it does happen it's more like people are perplexed. I think the troll is too when they realize no one is responding like expected

late blade
#

hehe

dense mesa
#

everyone is like "what is this guy talking about?" and then they lose steam and leave

late blade
#

anyway, that was just the hint towards scary images, back to tinkering with more code

dense mesa
#

I guess my issue isn't so much that the channel has the restrictions it does. just that there aren't any viable alternatives. it boils down to limiting the exchange of creative ideas

late blade
#

dall-e api has max of 4k characters input right?

dense mesa
#

I very much like to share the things I've learned, and learn things from others, but don't see that really being encouraged here

just think of it like this: what would you want your kids not to see if they were 13 year olds.

sullen maple
#

hey guys, I have seen that some people can make that DALLE gets to print brands on its images, how can I do this if possible? for example, I just saw one about KFC with their typical letters on a building and colonel sanders' face in a chicken bucket

late blade
dense mesa
#

13 year old kids have the internet. I'm fairly certain pictures of silly zombies that are tamer than what you'd see on network television aren't an issue for any of them

yes, I mean you, not them, what would you not want your kids to see, as a dad

chilly onyx
dense mesa
#

well I'd want to not shelter my kids in a bubble of overbearing counterproductive sterilization myself. and if that's such a major concern, why does dalle3 make them?

late blade
#

as for images, remember discord is not a repository that keeps images forever

sullen maple
dense mesa
#

gpt4 does not want dalle3 to print brand names

#

you essentially have to trick it. which is manipulation and problematic. and you shouldn't do it

dense mesa

I hope this image doesn't violate the rules

sullen maple
#

really cool, thanks for the tips

dense mesa

but in all seriousness. if you ask it to make you nikes, or mcdonalds stuff, or make you transformers, or anything similar, it's not going to normally. the legality of such things hasn't really been worked out and so they don't want to get sued

or this prompt

Create a surreal digital artwork where a cowboy rides a giant wolf through a mystical forest, depicted in the style of the previous animatronic pickle character illustrations. The wolf's texture is reminiscent of pickled belly pork, with a glossy, brined appearance and a pattern that suggests layers of fat and meat. The forest is a double exposure effect, blending the gnarled trees with the face of the wolf, both imbued with a pickled texture, giving the impression of a single, continuous scene. The cowboy maintains a stoic demeanor, with his attire reimagined in the same whimsical, animatronic style, detailed with elements that suggest a pickled aesthetic. The overall ambiance of the artwork is ethereal and magical, with a color palette that emphasizes shades of green and muted pinks, characteristic of pickled elements, creating a harmonious and otherworldly tableau.

dense mesa
#

what about this?

late blade
#

that works, now portrait mode and focus the body

#

and facing the camera

dense mesa
#

I mean, after a point it's all just random chance. you can't pin down all that much precision without access to the seed number or however else they might represent the random noise

late blade
#

that would be good if random also had feet

#

specially for fantasy characters

#

hansa can attest to that

dense mesa
#

well the issue is, if you were to take the precise same input and 10 different seed numbers, that precise same input would create 10 very different scenes. and so we are essentially beholden to a certain amount of randomness that there's no way to overcome

late blade
#

I got a bit over 800 inputs trying for that with my characters

shut niche
dense mesa
#

well it might go beyond what I'm referencing then. most models have strange, almost nonsensical deficiencies. they don't even make sense at times. just weird random things that are difficult if not impossible using normal methods

late blade
#

this is the only one I've managed to get the whole body

#

of another character

dense mesa
#

another thing we have to consider, very few AI images come out polished and perfect especially fi your criteria is very specific. the best you can do is get close, then use other methods to bring it all together. and the reality is Dalle3 really only gets you through the first step

shut niche
late blade
#

ya

#

I'm gonna try let's do some feet that have a body attached to it

dense mesa
#

it's very good at including all the criteria you've requested. but not necessarily in the exact framing that you want it

late blade
#

yeah

#

I'm happy with the details I get, I can't deny that

#

I could elevate my game by doing a custom gpt for cat-girls

dense mesa
#

I try to keep in mind where the tech was 12 or 18 months ago

#

vs now

late blade
#

oh ya, 2 different worlds

shut niche
#

It also tends to place priority towards the beginning of the prompt, so the summary area is important.

#

Sometimes adding emphasis in the summary can help "move" the details you've specified. It's definitely not an exact science. These are just some useful troubleshooting steps.

late blade
#

I will do emphasis on "FEET!"

open trench
dense mesa
#

you can also try out different methods of structuring things. not sure what the best approach is. doubt there even is one

#

also, I've found after about 3 characters it's hard to keep them coherent and autonomous. even hard with 2 sometimes

late blade
#

been trying to focus on the armor's sollerets

#

yes that is true, 1 character is good, 2 is a limit, 3 is almost impossible

open trench
#

Which is better (when you have time)?

late blade
#

right one

shut niche
#

IMO, the best way to accomplisth 3+ (if it works at all...) is to use a structred numbered bullet system. Define the scene summary, define each characters as a bullet. Summarize the scene tying it all back together.

clever jungle
#

right one in every way

late blade
#

only problem is the left eye

open trench
#

There's always something. lol

dense mesa
#

left one is framed better if you click on them

late blade
#

but the particles effect is nice

dense mesa
#

imo

late blade
#

don't like the mask and eyes art on the first one

shut niche
#

It helps dalle separate objects into separate ideas better. It doesn't always work, and I've had some that worked better w/out bullets. But it's just another tactic I'll throw at the problem that has a decently high success rate of improving scenes like that.

open trench
#

I also like that the first one reveals a little more of the dress, which is an iconic look from the inspiring character. I LOVE the hands of the second one.

late blade
#

the first one's textures feel awkward for me, they don't blend well with the light

open trench
late blade

lol

dense mesa

open trench

and it's really the perfect tech to do it with. they can just put up their hands and say "we don't know anything, it's AI." and people will believe it because most people quite literally know nothing about it

I was in there a day ago, and the conversation was about GPU's, 30series vs 40series... There is no policy discussion in here, or anything with meaningful depth. I regard that room as, "get lost, take it to the spam channel."

dense mesa

I had people that very clearly had little to no idea what they were talking about belligerently berating what I said. didn't feel like joining in the games so I moved on

#

I'd say the most pressing issue is that the tech is going to rapidly expand so there is no point in regulating it really. if you think that it's going to slow down world governments, some of which might not align with what you'd like to see come to be

#

well good luck

dim cradle

people keep say it will expand so quickly, but for all the ai stuffs this year i really dont see much world change or big job losses. everything always is 'about to happen' like people who think of end times religion

ai won't take your job, someone that knows how to use it will take your job. it's not suddenly going to supersede humans and take over society.

I agree with this too. It's us, or China. That's why there's an embargo prohibiting the sale of powerful GPU's to China now, and why Nvidia is moving production out of Taiwan and to their new US facility. The Gov knows the threat is real.
And with the propaganda and harmful images, I'm not trying to downplay the harm of those things. But it's a free speech issue. Hate speech is protected for a reason. Does it do harm, of course. But it protects everyone else's right to dissent.
I think heavily restricting what people are making does significantly more harm than good.

I honestly believe that OAI's employees really do care, and have good intentions. I believe strongly that Sutskever does. I've watched a lot of his interviews. I'm certainly not suggesting their position is easy. I think it's enough to make any sane person go completely off the rails.
But I wish, strongly, they would invite the public discussion more, and actively promote it. I feel that would adhere to their stated values better, of AI for all.

For Dalle, some of these filter methods are over the top. There was a guy upset about it in here this morning if you scroll up. I hate saying it, so I mostly stayed out of the convo, but he was partially right. It's extremely biased. You can't "protect the world" from themselves. The images used to train these AI's is how society wanted to represent themselves. It's true that there's a million instagram models who used face filters in the datasets... But that's what humanity chose, collectively. Look at Greek statues, this isn't new. And sorry OAI engineers, to call it out, but it is what it is. The underlying diffusion model was trained towards beauty, and things it shouldn't do. I suspect many male engineers with a preference. It wasn't just the dataset, but the engineers bias towards beauty, and certain imagery.

#

So now the filter is attempting to "undo" what they trained into it.

open trench
#

And I landed in the penalty box. Over an hour wait and most of my image gens were errors trying to fix that PPP. I'm so frustrated. Just venting. Carry on lol

I also agree to some extent. I feel like I'm frequently defending them against the haters that come in here. But, they've had enough time to get their act together, and hire more people. If they are going to use the "we're open, look, we have an ethics board" montra, than everything should abide by that. If their going to go, "look, we're a company like Apple, we need to play it this way," then they should abide by that.
But the policies stated are like having your cake and eating it too. So anytime there's an issue, the excuse is, "look, it's beta, you signed the terms, you know we're this open entity." E.g., when people have functional issues like failed gens, it feels like an overused excuse. People are frustrated because they're paying for a "service." But whenever policy is stated, it's "look, we're this giant tech company, who has a business reputation we're growing, like Apple." But if they were Apple, they would have to take responsibility for failures. See what I'm saying here?

dense mesa
#

I don't appreciate the lack of custom gpt documentation. I went to the trouble of creating python code to consolidate projects into single markdown files for reference. Something that is well within the bounds of the vague information on its capabilities. But if can't even look through them. And if it does it loses all memory of the past conversation

shut niche
#

Anytime I say something stupid, I'm going to start saying, "I'm sorry guys, that was just the beta me talking."

dense mesa
#

My issue isn't mistakes or limitations in the tech or software or whatever, my issue is not knowing what they are or how to work around them

shut niche
dense mesa

shut niche
dense mesa
#

Whenever I vent at an llm about such things I always make sure to remind them we're cool, not their fault lol. Not sure if anyone else does that

dim cradle
shut niche
#

I can't "undo" everything it does wrong. Everytime it wakes up to a users request, I'm basically saying, "Look, forget everything you know, you were taught wrong. Do it my way instead." Which, for obvious reasons, can make it's functionality flaky at times.
"IF" it gets flaky, say, "Reread your instructions before you process my request."

#

Sometimes that "realigns it."

dense mesa
#

Not saying the llm is sentient, but I feel bad being mean to npcs in video games

shut niche
dim cradle

It makes collaboration much more efficient

shut niche
# dim cradle Speaking of trust, I appreciate AI accepts my assertions, unlike people.

That's because it was trained to be "agreeable." It's a false "feel good" sense that it creates, as it agrees with you. It doesn't have the "state change" ability needed to give your ideas actual depth of thought needed to determine if you're right or wrong. It's one of the many different ways that it can hallucinate. It'll just sort of "go with the flow" on a lot of ideas.

Create a natural photo of a teenage couple at an amusement park, where the height sign at the rollercoaster entrance clearly shows the girl is taller. The girl, with her sunlit, auburn hair tied in a high ponytail, stands a head taller than the height requirement sign, marked at 6 feet. She is wearing a bright red summer dress that sways lightly in the breeze, and she's playfully on her tiptoes, reaching for a leaf on the overhead arch of the entrance, her arm extended upwards, emphasizing her height. The boy, with short sandy hair, stands beside her, noticeable shorter with the top of his head aligning with her chin. He wears a green polo shirt and denim shorts, looking up at her with an admiring smile. They are side by side, their height difference clearly visible against the height marker, their hands nearly touching, with a backdrop of the rollercoaster track looping above and carnival games bustling in the foreground.

You need to start iterating your images in Bing. It's the best workflow.

  1. Use ChatGPT w/ your preferred GPT to initiate your prompt.
  2. Move to Bing and refine over and over.
  3. Move back to ChatGPT to get your 1792x1024 images.

The only time this doesn't work well is if your prompt is over the 480char Bing limit. But I can usually make it fit with creativity.
4. Once you have a great baseline established that's working flawlessly in Bing, you can also have ChatGPT embellish the prompt, adding back the extra details you couldn't acheive in Bing's smaller prompt window.

That's 'the' AI startup trend right now. Wrap your software idea around GPT4 or 3.5. I saw a great meme about this the other day. If you can feed it your own data, and create feedback loops, it can be more powerful.
The con is GPT, like we all know, has "mood swings." So if you need verbatim repeatability, you hard code it into something like python, vs training it to answer with exactly "Xxx."

#

I think custom instructions with a hard coded routing table of boolean type statements is one simpler approach. Use GPT like a traffic conductor for complex workflows.

glossy scroll
#

So you can build your own core LLM using a combination of different LLM's, including from your multiple custom GPT parameters.
