Because Dalle 2 doesn't create images like Midjourney does. Dalle 2 is good at, pixel art, photo realism, oil on canvas, logos, and impressionist imagery. You're so use to what Midjourney creates that you're forgetting about the other lovely styles that Midjourney can't create. Long Story short Dalle 2 and Midjourney can only create images its trained to. And if your don't like the styles Dalle 2 creates then that's your problem. Dalle 2 and Midjourney are both amazing in there own ways.

I have found that Dalle-2's strength is how well "it sticks to the prompt". It seems that Midjourney and Leonardo.AI have a definite edge in quality, especially in generating glossy or photorealistic images.

Also, as others have reported, trying to get Dalle-2 to stop "cropping" the output image can be a struggle at times. But again, Dalle-2 has an API and that's a big advantage (for devs like myself).

These scenarios are difficult with DE for sure. What I've found that helps get better results is first simply don't mention the item you don't want in the picture. Using the phrase "no umbrella" will literally guarantee that you'll get one. It'll reinforce it. Add contextual clues that maybe an umbrella would be unnecessary such as describing the people in the scene wearing cloaks or other appropriate clothing for the weather. Add context like the time period into the prompt (century or year). If you don't mind a particular artistic style, reference an artist near the time period. Every little bit will guide DE in the right direction. It won't be perfect, but you should get from 4/4 gens consistently having umbrellas to 1-2 gens without them more consistently.

Going to follow-up with a bit of nuance - Dall-E starts with static and adjusts it towards an image, so it's possible to get the same image with the same prompt (but usually extremely unlikely).

I'm not involved in development, but I'd think if you have a long enough prompt, you might be able to exceed the randomization of the image and generate something exactly the same. Seems like it works that way.
